synopsis: Dew's relatively uneventful and ordinary life changed when he was kidnapped by a mad scientist named Anton, who planned to use Dew as his new human test subject for experiments. Dew, who is scared out of his mind, now has to try gaining his captor's trust while he slowly plans his escape, all while enduring experiments that make him not quite human anymore.

the alchemical wedding: chapter fifteen

Summary: Discovery of Witches AU. When Dr. Lucy Preston, historian and reluctant witch, stumbles on an enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, in Oxford University’s Bodleian Library, she crosses paths with the mysterious vampire Garcia Flynn. They must work together to discover its secrets, their conflicted family legacies, and the shadowy enemies who want to claim it. As they do, they are increasingly and unwillingly drawn to each other, but that may be the most dangerous and forbidden magic of all. Rating: M Status: WIP Previous: In The Wastelands NOTE: REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD. Have Even More De Clermont Family Drama. And also feelings. Many of those.

Chapter 15: La Reine Blanche

It is midmorning by the time they finally return to Sept-Tours. Two of them, at least. Gabriel informs them that he’ll stay behind to sweep the castle and the countryside, see if he can find out where Temple and Emma have gone or anything they left behind, and since they have only two witches anyway and need to get Lucy back, Flynn doesn’t argue. He finds it incredibly difficult to let go of her long enough for Gennady to pick her up and fly off, and keeps looking over at her as Anton ferries him alongside. She’s cold, she’s hurt, another midair extravaganza is the last thing she needs – is Gennady keeping her warm? Is this going to make the effects of her ordeal worse? There was no faster way to get her home, but he keeps looking around in wary expectation of Emma dive-bombing them from above. She can fly too, after all. What if she strategically decided to fall back and wait until they broke from cover, vulnerable without Gabriel and with a wounded Lucy to protect?

Mercifully, however, the flight remains free of terrible harpies (even when she doesn’t have the claws, if you ask Flynn) and they come in for a landing on the Sept-Tours grounds with the sun well up and the trees sparkling in frozen dew. The instant they’re down, Flynn recovers his feet and scrambles over to Gennady, who is holding up Lucy. She is white as parchment and doesn’t look as if she’s entirely sure where she is. Flynn scoops her into his arms and turns toward the house, as Gennady demands, “Will she be ALL RIGHT? We have not got her back only for you to BLOW IT in – ”

“You’ve done your jobs, you can go.” Flynn does not care if they go directly to the Congregation and report him, or if they put up wanted posters with his face. Nothing matters right now except for Lucy. “You’re free. Get out of here.”

Anton and Gennady exchange looks. “Actually,” Anton announces. “I think we stay.”

“This is de Clermont territory, you can’t just decide you’re going to – ” And with that, Flynn gives up. They have saved everyone’s posteriors several times tonight, and it might be uncharitable to bundle them out without so much as a cup of tea. They jog after him toward the house, just as the front door opens and a pale, tousled Maria, Cecilia, Wyatt, and Houdini hurry out. They have clearly been keeping a tense, sleepless vigil, and the next moment, Flynn is engulfed to all sides. He appreciates it, but he does not intend to be delayed. “Get out of the way,” he says brusquely. “I need to take her inside.”

“Garcia – ” Maria clutches at his arm. “Garcia, where’s your brother?”

“He’s coming later.” Flynn doesn’t break stride. “He was going to run reconnaissance outside Albi and see if there was anything else we missed.”

At that, Flynn thinks again of that wound Gabriel took. It will heal quickly, or at least it should, but who knows what nasty tricks Temple might have up his sleeve? Maybe Flynn should call a halt to whatever further self-sacrificing bout of nobility Gabriel appears to be on, but Anton and Gennady are exhausted – Anton in particular has made three long-distance flights in under twelve hours, he’s dead on his feet – and they can’t keep using the Sokolov brothers as a magical taxi service for de Clermonts who have gotten themselves into sticky situations. Seeing that his mother still looks worried, Flynn repeats, “He’s fine. He – never mind, I’ll tell you later. Excuse me.”

He speeds up, breaking free of the crowd, and leaves them to sort out where to accommodate their renewed round of witch house-guests. (Theoretically not the dungeons this time.) He steps inside, as Lucy stirs in his arms. “Are we back?”

…drew a little comic thing based on this post. thanks for @vidawhump for getting me hyperfixated on yet another tllr au (probably not going to write anything for this one though) hehehe :)

basically it’s a TOH au where Anton is Eda and Dew is Luz except it’s a lot more complicated than that. Pierce is like Belos. you can just about guess how that all goes

editing this post to talk more about this au because i don’t wanna be annoying

this is basically a crack au that takes place in the universe and world of the owl house. Dew is basically Luz, and finds himself in the demon realm while wandering (or taken) through a strange portal door. Anton, basically Eda, is very fascinated with humans and decides to keep Dew and try to teach him magic until he can get the portal fixed. totally (he’s not letting him go). except everything gets a lot more complicated because Pierce is Belos and like, imagine something that makes absolutely 0 sense for a second: imagine if Hunter somehow escaped Belos and was on the run, and he figured out how to practice wild magic, and he was obsessed with humans and lived in the owl house (and Eda never existed). that’s basically Anton here. so he simultaneously plays the role of Hunter and Eda and im sure i sound absolutely insane right now but i don’t care. am i ever going to write anything with this? no

i have sooooo many WIPs right now so i’m making a poll (it may or may not affect what actually gets finished first)

the “Anton let’s Dew go” au is basically an idea that’s been floating around in my brain where Anton just,, randomly decides that Dew doesn’t deserve to be tortured and experimented on anymore so he lets him go and becomes a better person (set after chapter 10). i think it’s an interesting scenario and i guess could be considered an alternate ending? (nothing close to that actually happens in canon and there’s gonna be like 50 chapters of tllr so it’s not even close to the end)

the basil au (basil lives au) is an au that takes place directly after chapter 8. basically Basil doesn’t die and Anton gets to introduce her to Dew! because i know some people were excited about them meeting and Basil surviving actually does change the story quite a bit.

🐹 Borrower Basil AU: Instead of a little talking mouse, Basil is a tiny, 4 inch tall borrower living in the walls home to a reclusive scientist. She gets caught, like all borrowers do, but instead of being put in a cage and experimented on like she thought, her and Anton actually become friends! Years later, Basil is working alongside Anton, as his little lab assistant helping with whatever strange and bizarre experiments he comes up with.

🛸 Alien Abduction AU: Dew and his best friend (and crush), Hayden, are walking alone one night and find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time as they are beamed up into a curious alien’s spaceship. Anton (the alien) is fascinated by humanity and wants to learn as much as he can about his new test subjects in the only way he knows how: unethical experimentation! Hayden had always loved aliens, space, and the supernatural, and is adamant on somehow befriending the alien. Dew is scared out of his mind and wants nothing but to escape and go home to Earth, but can’t stand the idea of abandoning his best friend in the vast, infinite abyss of space.

🦇 Vampire Dew AU: When Dew was turned into a vampire, he had no choice but to run away from his old life. He couldn’t bear to let his friends see him this way, now that he’s bloodthirsty and wanted for murder. He wanders among an empty forest, a safe place to hide. But he has no idea of the scientist lurking in the shadows, who had been looking for a new test subject for a long time, and who has so many plans for the vampire who walked right into his trap.

🧵 Borrower!Dew AU: Dew lived in a tiny dollhouse in a local craft store owned by his best friend and the only human who knew he was a borrower. That was until one day when Anton wanted to buy something nice for Basil, and chose a cute little house that was the perfect size for his mouse to hang out in. Dew woke up in the night being brought to Anton’s cabin, realizing that someone had bought the small house he had been sleeping in. Dew escapes the first chance he gets without being seen, but avoiding a mad scientist and his mouse friend in a cabin in the middle of the woods is far more challenging that Dew had thought. (also Anton definitely catches him and gets super excited about his new lab rat. a tiny little mouse boy Dewey…)

🌀 Vampire!Anton AU: An AU where Anton enthralls Dew. But he also enthralls Aspen! And me! And you! Might just write something for all four of those scenarios, I have no idea yet, but I desperately need a possessive gentle vampire Anton to hypnotize someone and suck their blood soooo bad. It would heal me. Putting it here to force me to write something eventually.

🍄 Fae AU: Anton’s a lonely faerie with a fascination with the human world when he one day finds a lone, hurt human in his woods named Dew. He feels bad for the human and cares for it, tending to its wounds, feeding it and treating it like you would an injured animal. It’s also quite cute, and Anton has never seen anything like it before. He decides to keep it, it will be safe with him, after all.

🥼 Role Reversal AU: A role reversal AU created by @vidawhump where Dew is a scientist alongside his friends and their goal is to make all sorts of cool body modifications possible and safe. But he needs a test subject, so he kidnaps Anton from his reclusive home in the woods and secretly experiments on him. Anton is extremely defiant and sassy, wanting to escape and get home to his animal friends, Basil and Sasha, however he can.

Crossover AUs:

🌲 TLLR x UARAD crossover: A TLLR x UARAD crossover AU where Anton “rescues” Ruaridh after they were abandoned in the woods, and brought them to his lab to be a new test subject. Ruaridh and Dew become roommates, and they also become friends because they both are so incredibly lonely. Ru is also an unhinged creature who doesn’t have much of a memory. Hijinks ensue. (Ruaridh and Uilebheist A Rinn An Duine belong to @inkwell-and-dagger)

🦉 The Owl House AU: Anton is a witch in the boiling isles and finds a lost human named Dew who stumbled in through his portal. He decides to keep him and help train him to be a witch.

⚠️ Gravity Falls AU: Anton meets a weird triangle demon in his dreams and agrees to make a strange portal to other dimensions for it! nothing will go wrong.
