Information from 'Deadline' -
Department Q has staffed up. Cameras are rolling in Scotland on the upcoming series adaptation of Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen’s hugely popular crime novels.
Matthew Goode, Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne and Kelly Macdonald are all on board Netflix‘s English-language series Deadline can reveal.
The project comes from showrunner Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit). It has been written by Frank, Chandni Lakhani, Stephen Greenhorn and Colette Kane. Frank directs the first two of the eight instalments. Filming is taking place in Edinburgh, where the series will be set.
Goode will play DCI Carl Morck. After a violent incident turns Morck’s life upside down, the emotionally scarred detective is charged with setting up cold case unit, Department Q, upon his return to work. At first, the disillusioned cop is happy to waste his days away, but his detective instincts are ultimately reawakened and his new department becomes a magnet for a crew of misfits and mavericks.
The project sees Goode working with Left Bank Pictures and Netflix once more. He played Antony Armstrong Jones in season two of Left Bank’s regal drama The Crown.
Pirrie, whose credits include The Queen’s Gambit, plays ruthless and ambitious prosecutor Merrit Lingard. Fellow Scottish actor Macdonald takes the role of Dr. Rachel Irving, a therapist tasked with getting officers back on the front line.
Manvelov (Jack Ryan) is Syrian cop Akram Salim, who was forced to flee to Europe and ultimately becomes part of the new department. Byrne takes the role of Rose, a star police cadet left shaken by a breakdown and looking for a chance to prove herself in DCI Morck’s team.
The cast also includes Mark Bonnar (Guilt), Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones), Jamie Sives (Crime) and Kate Dickie (Inside Man).
Adler-Olsen’s books have spawned a very successful film franchise. The fourth film based on the novels, The Purity Of Vengeance, became the highest-grossing Danish film at the local box office. New movies are in the works.
When Queen Elizabeth’s reign is threatened by ruthless familial betrayal and Spain’s invading army, she and her shrewd adviser must act to safeguard the lives of her people.

Photos from various concerts I've seen in New York City, not in chronological order. I'm just posting these bc I went back to a previous Photos app library on an external drive and saw a bunch that I haven't seen in a few years. Many / most of these were shot with first- or second-generation iPhone cameras, so they're blurry and hard to really see but I don't mind. From the top:
Patty Schemel, Eric Erlandson, and Melissa Auf Der Maur from Hole, standing outside a theater in the East Village that had just screened Patty's documentary about her life in the band. Not really a 'concert', but I'll allow it
Pavement in Central Park
Quasi, at the Bowery Ballroom
M. Ward show, Central Park
David Byrne, Radio City Music Hall
King Crimson, Madison Square Garden Theater (small venue adjacent to the bigger MSG)
Paul Simon, giving a free talk on songwriting at the Union Square Barnes & Noble
Line of fans along W16th Street to see an early Justin Bieber show at the Highland Ballroom (i did not attend that show but the very long line outside my apartment building surprised me in 2008 to snap that photo)
Foo Fighters at MSG
Waiting for Nick Lowe and Robyn Hitchcock at The Grand Ballroom
Waiting for Aimee Mann at the Town Hall
Outside St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn before the doors opened for a benefit concert featuring Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Antony, Blonde Redhead, Scissor Sisters, Norah Jones, and Damien Rice
The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, at the Park Avenue Armory during the Whitney Biennale
REM at MSG
Jackson Browne playing at a Borders Bookstore on the UES
Liz Phair at a club attached to the Maritime Hotel in Chelsea

AI-generated series redesigns vibrant household appliances in gaudí’s aesthetic
vivid coral-like forms generate everyday items in gaudí’s style
Visual storyteller Marcus Byrne envisions regular household appliances in Antoni Gaudí’s architectural aesthetic using artificial intelligence image generator software. The graphic designer re-imagines everyday objects drawing from the famous architect’s vibrant intricate designs. The twentieth-century styles such as neo-gothic, art nouveau, and modernism that characterize Gaudí’s designs are reflected in the AI-generated images through vivid colors and free-flowing coral-like shapes. The digital art series are illustrated through the process of combining popular text-to-image software, Midjourney, and Photoshop for additional editing.
Marcus Byrne conceives organic CURVILINEAR-SHAPED appliances
Mimicking Gaudí’s sophisticated architectural style, the series displays flowing shapes and textured surfaces reminiscent of natural tree and cave organic formations. The digital artist and photoshop professional contemplates contemporary minimal design suggesting that ‘all brands have similar-looking models and company logos are stripped back to live in the tiny space world of mobile devices’. Drawing back to the vibrant, multi-color buildings with ceramic mosaic tiles and stained glass, the series of digital illustrations re-imagines regular household appliances in Gaudí’s aesthetic. The AI-generated artworks form organic curvilinear-shaped everyday items in colorful patterns.

Movie Reviews:
SWITCH.: As technology edges closer to our bodies, and the notion of genetic engineering and artificially intelligent drones begin to feel less outlandish, these age-old questions on the ethics and impact of science take on a more urgent dimension. ‘I Am Mother’ explores them with intelligence and style. Not only is it by far the best science fiction film to emerge from among the multitude of Netflix Originals, but cult gem status surely beckons.
