Welcome to Camp! Part 1
It was the first day of summer as we see a young hedgehog get ready to leave for her summer camp as she had got dressed in her usual burgundy sweater and her skirt she had been waiting forever to leave her house for the summer and now she will finally get to leave as she rushed down stairs to eat breakfast much to her surprise she seen her parents weren't there just a note saying.
Dear Hedgehog, Sorry something urgent came up at work so we had to come handle it but don't worry we asked  mr.Leroy to take you the docs today just make sure to be prep and dominant break their fucking will with your gaze make sure none try to push you over and don't make friends make business deals and partners as well and since you're gonna be gone for a while I guess try making one friend as well and only one.
P.S. We Acknowledge your feelings with our regards Enjoy your summer honey
                                                                                                                                         Love Mom & Dad.
(Hedgehog POV)
Well at least they left me a note I guess I'll just eat some breakfast before mr.Leroy gets here then
What shall I make tho Pancakes,Waffles,Toast,Eggs,French Toast does sound good. Mann they're all good I know I'll make a bowl of cereal because I don't know how to cook well now where's the bowls again ah hah here we go now for the cereal and it's bland as hell bleeeehh but it's something so let's eat.
8:00 a.m.
Argh where is mr.Leroy the boat leaves in 30 minutes I now I can make it if I run but that's a long way
But I refuse to stay home for another summer let's go....yahhooooo.
8:30a.m.
I made it sorry mr.Le-
*Ring Ring*
*Ring Ring*
*Ring Ring*
H-Hell-
HEDGEHOG WHY DIDN'T YOU PICK IT UP THE FIRST TIME IT HAD RANGED AND ALSO WHY DID MR. LEROY YOU COULD'VE BEEN KIDNAPPED OR SOMETHING.
did she pick up?
Yes!
Oh thank god!
Anyway Hedgehog we just wanted to call you before you left remember wh-
Wha- The Not- Said-
Mom I have to go the boats are coming and plus there's a bunch static for some reason
Oh ok remember make acquaintances and be dominant
Yeah love you too! Mom
I acknowledge your feelings as well hedgehog.
Phone hangs up
As I got on the boat I seen that most kids were with their parents looking around and some were sitting down enjoying the ocean smell. As I looked at the city it looked so small from that distance and I might as well take a good little nap till we get to our destination but I'm still a little curious why summer camp is so far *shrugs shoulders * I'm just glad not to be home this summer.
But before I could close my eyes I seen a flash next thing I know I was knocked out.
(End of Hedgehog's POV)
As the boat was sailing through the sea to the island with all its passengers knocked unconscious as three girls flew on the boat and took control of it making sure everything went according to plan and as they put small tablets in the parents mouth.
???-are you sure this is right I mean won't they want to know their parents and where they came from as well.
???-oh you worry to much besides I already have taken that to mind as soon they get back on the boat. (snicker).
???-oh yeah that snickering is so not suspicious at all
???- uhh guys the boats is in the islands view I think it's time to go now.
???-Alright! That's all of them let's go.Hold on why are their two adult elephants where's their child...hmmm...oh well don't care to much anyway.
And with that they flew to the island getting the preparations completed.
                                                    ————On The boat————
As everybody woke up to the sound of the whistle or horn on the boat telling them there here. As soon as they docked all of the kids ran out onto the beach and as hedgehog was leaving she seen two very concerned elephants looking for their child
?!-Don't worry I'm sure he's just down there with all the others having a good time making new friends that's all.
Sue-I guess.
?!-why don't you go give him his hoodie I'll wait for ya because I know how you two will just be there forever with the goodbyes.
Sue playfully elbows him in the gut.
Sue- Alright I'll be quick.
As The Elephant walked towards one of the counselors.
Oh hello there my name is Susie I'm one of the counselors here
Sue- oh wow my name is Sue! I'm just here to give you my special little guy's hoodie you know this is his first time being far from home try to help with his anxiety if ya can.
Oh what's his name?
Sue-It's Oscar Peltzer!
Oh well thank you then I'll make sure he gets it then have a safe trip back
And as she left and got back on the boat she started to feel light headed and sat down with her husband so as they sailed off her light headness became worse as blood started to come from her nose  and as her husband tried to help her up he started to feel it himself he started to vomit As he looked at the other parents were screaming in pain most of them were wailing in their own blood while from the island view it sounded like they were saying goodbye but they're crying because they know that this will be the last time that they will see their children. As sue got up and said (WE ALL GOTTA LEAVE SOMEDAY ITS ALLRIGHT TO CRY SOMETIM-) more blood is coming out of her nose as starts to lose consciousness she uses the strength to crawl to her husband as they locked their hands and closed their eyes for the final time. Every adult on board has passed away
(Oscar we love you so much enjoy your summer make friends okay!)
As the boat sailed off into the distance the three counselors knew what they had done and agreed to never say anything till the time comes as they transformed back into their witch clothing and as the inhabitants of the island revealed themselves.
Alright babies you thought you were coming to a normal camp you are sorely mistaken this is a magical camp for beings that are magic themselves and though were your counselors don't come crying to me about your dumb little baby problems especially that mommy's little boy.
Susie this speech gets scary every time I hear it don't scare them now
Oh relax they love it. DO YOU WANT TO SEE YOUR CABINS BABIES
YEEEAAAHHH!!!
Told ya!
As she took the kids to their new homes hedgehog stay behind to take it all in that were she is right now and since she calm now she's gonna to her new cabin inside it was a bunch of cool stuff she had a tv, and a bookshelf, her bed was so soft that she felt like she would sleep for two days straight as she started to unpack a small hand grabbed her foot it was transparent monster
-Woaaaahh
Don't be dramatic darling I'm only here to tell that this room is mine and I will not give up easy.
Uh...okay
And just so you know under the bed is my space and only my space if you come under here I will kill you and leave your bones to dry.
Gee I get it you don't have to be a jerk I'll just put my shoes by the door then
That's what I thought
2 hours later
Finally done it took me two hours but I'm finished
Attention all campers since it's the first night of camp we want you all on the beach for a little get together now hurry it up.
Well might as well I need to make some friends my age anyway( i might even get a summertime love.) I can't wait
Oh honey you need too.
Shut up you
As she left her cabin the monster went and read her diary
How dare she I'm gonna read her diary just for that...oh...my I'm just like my father aren't I.
As he looks at one of the accessories they nodded at him
Yur father did not I repeat did not respect secrets at all.
Oh...well at least he was a good man thanks grandma
Yur welcome child
Back to Hedgehog as she got closer she started to see more kids come out of there cabins but she waited and just waved at most of them as she was walking one kid named Max came up to talk with her since they were going to the same place anyway.
Hi I'm max
Oh hi I'm Hedgehog
(He's kinda cute)
Is this your first time coming to a summer camp
*Gasp* How did you know
I have SUUUUUPPPPEERRR PPPOOOWWWEERRRSSS!
She laughed at him as if anyone could have super powers as they got closer to the beach they seen the whole camp all dancing and enjoying their time together even the counselors were getting into it as well I started to run so I can get in there and do the same and the little d.j. Put on a song that caused everyone to go crazy.

Answering 50 quarantine asks
Asked by @whatqueen-wildcats via my other blog because I reblogged to the wrong one again lolol
1. Are you enjoying yourself? Yeah, things are going alright.
2. Do you miss how life used to be? Things aren’t too different for me. I’m still working and taking classes, even though work is busier and classes are just online now.
3. What are you doing with your time now that you’re home? Same old stuff, mostly homework. Any free time is spent playing animal crossing though lol
4. What drinks do you have in the fridge right now? Ooh boy I’ll have to think about this one. Water, tea, orange juice, grape juice, coke zero, and pepsi. More than usual because of essential shopping. Usually it’s just tea and water.
5. What snacks do you have in your house right now? Honestly, a bag of chips for my mom and that’s it. I’m trying to snack less lately, and the only way that seems to work is if I have no snacks nearby lol.
6. When was the last time you stepped outside, and what for? I went outside to put my dog up a couple of hours ago.
7. What’s a book you hope to read while quarantined? I want to finish rereading a book I had when I was 15 or somewhere around that. It’s call Sword of the Land, and it’s awesome.
8. What’s a goal you hope to achieve while being quarantined? I want to be more productive in general, finish the semester strong, and not get sick.
9. How long do you think you can last like this? I could live like this for a very long time. I’m a huge homebody so this isn’t bothering me much at all.
10. What is the last thing you’ve read? I read an article about animal crossing this afternoon...
11. What show are you catching up on? None right now. I’m mostly listening to podcasts or watching random youtube videos.
12. Are you a “stay in pajamas all day kind"of person? Yes, definitely. Even most of my normal clothes could count as pajamas anyway.
13. What time did you go to sleep last night? Like...1ish. I wasn’t feeling well so it took me a while to fall asleep.
14. What time did you wake up today? Oh dude, I think it was 11. Like I said, wasn’t feeling well.
15. Are you staying active? I’m definitely not less active. Work has been more exhausting for sure. But I haven’t been exercising at all.
16. Are you staying hydrated? Never hydrated enough. I need to be better about that.
17. How long do you think this quarantine will last? At least another month. Probably 2 because no one here in Florida is staying home at all. :/
18. If you had to study one subject everyday for the rest of this quarantine, what would you study? See, I don’t like this question. I should say Spanish, because I’m taking it now and have to take part 2 in the Summer, but it’d probably be folklore or something related to that.
19. How much weight do you suppose you’ll put on by the time this quarantine is over? I’ll probably stay the same weight or lose weight by the end of this, because since I’m not going to school I won’t feel the need to eat fast food as much. It wasn’t a ton before, only like, once a week. But still.
20. What’s your favorite board game? For family games I’m pretty partial to the game of life and scrabble.
21. What’s your favorite card game? Rummy. A family favorite.
23. What’s your favorite tv show? My default answer is Parks and Rec, but I haven’t watched tv shows regularly in a while.
24. What’s your favorite snack? All I can think about right now is a fruit, veggie, and cheese tray.
26. What’s your favorite beverage? I want to say water, but I have fallen back into my deeeeeep love for pepsi.
27. What do you like most about the quarantine? Not having to drive an hour and a half(3 hours round trip) to get to school. I’m saving so much in gas money right now.
28. What are you finding most challenging about the quarantine? Remembering what day it is. It’s been a nightmare. Also my sleep schedule is wrecked.
29. Do you think COVID-19 is as bad as the media says it is? Yeah, man. This thing isn’t okay. I really hope it wakes people up to the desperate need for vaccines.
30. What precautions have you taken to stay safe from COVID-19? I stay at home unless absolutely necessary, and at work we have an alert to wash our hands and “touch points” every hour. But the customers are mostly jerks and haf leaned on and coughed on most of us on the reg.
31. What have you learned so far from this experience? People are being really selfish for the most part, and that most people don’t keep a fully stocked freezer.
32. Are you introverted, omniverted, or extroverted? I used to think I was a stone cold introvert, but I realized that was mostly the way I was raised and my introverted parents keeping me from socializing because they didn’t want to. Omnivert for sure.
33. Which room in your house do you spend the most time in? My bedroom. I actually just moved into my mom’s old office space, so it doesn’t fully feel like my room yet. I lived in my last room for 12 years, so it’s going to take a bit.
34. Who are you most worried about? The older members of my family. Also my fiance and brother in law. They both have asthma and are essential workers.
35. Who was the last person you texted, called, facetimed? Texted, a friend in a group chat about animal crossing, called my fiance, facetimed my friend Taylor.
36. What three emojis best describe your attitude towards what’s going on right now? 👏🧼💦
37. If you had to live in one item of clothing for the rest of this quarantine what would it be? My princess mononoke sweatpants. Those babies are comfy af.
38. What was the last meal you cooked and how did it taste? I wouldn’t call it a meal, but I made one of those knorr pasta sides for my dinner last night lol. It was delicious.
39. What’s your favorite restaurant? Is it closed? Bamboo sushi. I have been craving it for weeks, even before the quarantine. I desperately need a friend to go on sushi dates with. If you have my number, call me. I am dead serious.
40. What is your favorite store? Is it closed? Probably Earthbound. I like smelling the incense. I’m sure it is closed, doesn’t seem essential.
41. How many things have you purchased online since being in quarantine? I just realized I haven’t ordered anything. I’ve been meaning to buy a new mouse, but I haven’t decided on one yet.
42. What was the last thing you purchased online? Probably my makeup mirror.
43. What’s getting you through these tough times? ...animal crossing.
44. Are you keeping up with the news? To a degree. I peruse twitter every morning and watch whatever my parents have on for a minute or two. Sadly it’s usually some conservative Trump support thing, so I either have to stomach it and keep my mouth shut or just leave. I usually go with leaving.
45. Are you stressed? In general, yeah. But I’ve felt oddly peaceful during this time. I read somewhere on here that’s because people are finally reacting to the way I feel all the time. I don’t know if that’s true, but it makes sense.
46. Tell me something positive. My sister is getting a new house in a few weeks. I’m insanely excited for her. And we’re going to be neighbors!
47. Give me some advice. I don’t feel like the kind of person who should be giving advice, just know I’m proud of you. Just in general. :)
48. What’s your favorite quote? Excuse me as I open my Pinterest quote board for this... “The way you speak to yourself matters.” No credit, but it’s something I’m learning a lot about lately.
49. What’s your favorite book? The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. I wonder if it will ever change.
50. Tell me an interesting fact. The roars used in the animated Lion King were actually from tigers, because lion roars weren’t loud enough.
Thanks for asking! This was fun.

Arriving in America
So we are here!!!! Leading up to leaving it felt so surreal, like I could swear it wasn’t going to happen. But it did. I’m really proud of how hard I worked on myself to make the trip as easy as possible on my mind and body. I started reading “the art of happiness” by the Dalai Lama about a month before and I finished it the day before we left. That was my second time reading it and I highly recommend it to anybody. It was great for creating mindfullness, staying present and a calmer mindset. I started meditating a few days before and anytime I started to feel anxious or fearful, I would simply put on my guided meditation for 10-20 minutes and it would calm me down. I listen to my Reiki masters meditation CD’s and they’re so good. If you look up Maria Lacey on your music app, they’re the only thing I’ve listened to for the last 5 years and they still work wonders.
I made sure I was incredibly organised. I had all my meds sorted the month before, I started packing a week before, I wrote an extensive list of every single item I needed to pack to make sure I left nothing out. In hindsight I have packed too many things and I wish I could send some of it home already! We are struggling to fit in souveneers and presents into our cases due to hardly any room left. I also tried to fix my body clock 7 days out by getting up as early as possible and going to bed earlier as we had to get up to catch our flight at 4am. I think this helped a lot.
We got up at 4am and left for the aiport by 5am. Sitting in the airport I felt a little anxiety, you know that sick feeling in your stomach and slight jittery energy. Using my mindfullness I would start breathing deeply and telling myself affirmations in my mind such as “you’ve got this. It’s going to be OK. You’re OK. You’re sitting on a chair, at the airport.” They might sound silly but they work and when you have anxiety, if you simply state your surroundings and what you’re doing, it helps snap you out of projecting and put you back in the present. I would say those things to myself over and over and over, as long as it takes to calm down.
We boarded the flight and were fortunate to get all our flights upgraded for free to Economy Plus (between economy and business class) as I called up and stated my health conditions. I was going to be sitting on this plane for the next 15 hours and was trying to not to think about the possibility of how sick it might make me over time. I felt OK at that point, but how would I be in 3 hours, 7 hours, 15 hours time? Again, I went back to my mindfullness techniques and had to steer my focus away from unnecessary projection and panic.
I slept maybe 20 minutes the entire flight. I was very tired but my positive thinking said that not sleeping was obviously what was meant to happen and it would be a blessing for my jetag. Rather than thinking “omg I haven’t slept at all, I’m going to end up sooo sick.” I was no where near as sick as I thought I would be when the flight landed so I was really proud of my body for coping so well. I didn’t do anything too taxing on the plane though. I watched 5 movies, meditated for 50 minutes, read for 30 minutes and listened to music. I was able to lie down for some periods as my partner and I had 3 seats between us but being so tall I had to have my legs bent upwards.
Exiting the plane, I had a wheelchair waiting for me. So I was pushed all the way through to customs (which was a long way) and put into a priority queue for the disabled to be manually checked and let through. It took us an hour to get out and then we were picked up by my cousin. It was 730am when we got out and I had been awake for around 20 hours straight by that point.
We arrived at my cousins house where I got to meet my baby cousin (he’s almost 2 and soo cute!). After chatting for a bit, we went down to Best Buy around 10am and got sim cards for our phones. I was feeling unwell, hungry and tired but it was bearable (unbearable for me means lying on the floor in public unable to move. So if I can stand and still talk, then I’m doing good). Coming back, we had a shower and decided to go for a walk to Wholefoods two blocks away. I was still feeling ok at this point (well enough to function anyway). But an hour in wholefoods I started to deteriorate. We bought some food and walked back, my legs were becoming very slow. I’d been awake for 24 hours by this point, how was my body still functioning!!! I’m honestly very amazed and impressed. So by 230pm we had a nap and I perked up again after that.
I was worried about jetlag and if that would exacerbate my symptoms, especially if I had payback for flying so far. That is why I worked so hard on remaining calm, because the trip alone would exhaust me, freaking out and being anxious or having panic attacks would use that precious energy I needed for travelling.
I slept around 5 hours that night, so I told myself how good that was (must stay positive so I don’t create more suffering). I was really keen to go and do things as I don’t know how sick treatment will make me and if I’ll be able to do anything during or after. So we went down to a famous shopping strip and then Santa Monica Pier. It was awesome!!!! I had mild anxiety from fatigue and worrying I’d be out and end up feeling unwell, but I controlled it with my breathing and telling myself it’ll be OK and it eventually disappeared. I was out of the house from around midday to 7pm. We saw this amazing viola player right on the end of the pier playing the most incredible songs. It almost made me cry, seeing that was the highlight of my day.
Going to bed that night I was exhausted and ready for sleep, so all that walking had done good for my body clock and sleeping at a normal time. I slept from 1am through to 8am and didn’t wake once (very rare). I honestly couldn’t believe my luck with jetlag so far. This day I was desparate to do something my partner would enjoy as he’s going to be my carer for the 4 weeks of treatment, I wanted him to have some fun. I wasn’t well enough for something like Universal Studios (apparently that takes all day), so we got a Lyft (like uber) down to Hollywood. It was a 40 minute ride and we were walking and looking at things non-stop for about 6 hours. I was very tired by the end of it, but sooo happy we got to look at some amazing things like the Hollywood walk of fame, Hollywood sign, heaps of souveneer and unique shops and the Chinese Theatre. We were able to buy some presents for people so that made me happy (because I love buying presents).
The Lyft back took 50 minutes, then we headed down to Venice Beach with  my cousin. Unfortunately it was later in the day and the weather turned bad so most of the shops closed and their wasn’t many people. But we still got to take a look and it was a great experience. By 8pm, all I’d done after the last few days was catching up with me. I could feel my brain started to get frazzled and my body fatigued. My cousin dropped us at a nice Korean BBQ place and I just didn’t feel well enough to sit there. I didn’t want to eat takeaway and feel crap from that either, but my body was just no longer coping with anything. So we went to a mexican takeaway place across the road where I sat there like a zombie eating and got a Lyft home. I wasn’t in a good state when we got back, so my cousin ran me a detox bath. It’s like my brain was gone, the lyme had taken over and no thoughts I had were my own. I started to freak out about leaving for treatment the next morning and cried in my partners arms for a while. Eventually I calmed down and we packed before going to bed. I was worried I was going to be sick catching 2 flights the next day, but not much I could do about it so I just reminded myself that if I feel crap, it’s not forever and I will soon be there and this day will be forgotten.
I got 4 hours sleep again and woke up 2 hours before my alarm. So I just finished packing and slowly got ready. We checked in to LA at 8am and waited for our 10am flight. I couldn’t really eat by this point and I didn’t feel very well but I was remaining positive. I think the worst thing the jetlag has done is upset my stomach. I constantly have that yuck feeling in my stomach like I have the runs and I’ve often felt like I needed to “go” but couldn’t. I think it’s from eating my large meals at “odd” times, say I might eat dinner when it’s breakfast time back home and I don’t usually eat much for breakfast, or I’ll eat lunch when it should be 3-4am back home.
We caught our flight to denver and I then realised we had 30 minutes if we landed on time to get to our next flight. They also made us check in our cabin luggage because their wasn’t enough room in the overheads and I didn’t realise until after our bags were taken that they had money and a laptop in them and one bag didn’t have a lock on it. So I had to try and not think of all worst case scenarios of the laptop getting smashed, money being stolen etc. Trusting other people is something I struggle with immensely, so picturing a worst case of what others might do to my stuff is pretty easy. I was able to tell myself we would just wait and see what happens and if anything broke or went missing, it would be inconvenient but not the end of the world.
Arriving at denver I had another wheelchair waiting for me which was great. I got pushed straight to where our other flight was (so I didn’t have to try and work it out myself) and we got put to the front of the line so I didn’t have to stand in the queue. We made it to our next flight, I was so relieved!!! I was still feeling OK too. This flight was only 60 minutes so all I did was listen to 30 minutes of meditation music and then other music. If I really thought about where we were going and that I was starting treatment in 3 days I could make myself cry from fear, so meditation really helped to put me back in the present and stay calm.
We landed and another wheelchair was waiting but I felt well enough to walk and wanted to rush to get our bags to make sure they were OK. It wasn’t a far walk anyway. Our bags came and our carry on luggage had everything in it and still in tact! YAY!!! See how worrying is just a complete waste of energy? They broke the handle on one of our large suitcases though, so it was really difficult to pull along.
We were both tired and starving by this point. Ordered a lyft and got driven 30 minutes to our hotel apartment. Our lyft driver is awesome. He’s very friendly and chatty, telling us all about Wichita and places to go and other random things. He gave us his mobile so we could message him anytime we wanted to go somewhere and he would come get us.
After dropping our stuff into our apartment (which is freakin awesome by the way!), we walked across the street to find food. There’s a Dillons supermarket that’s 24/7 just 300m away and a McDonalds and Taco Bell opposite that. Not that I can or want to eat much of those foods, but we ate Taco Bell as neither of us had had it before and I had no energy left to walk let alone grocery shop. Walking around Dillon’s was cool. I wanted to do a big grocery shop, but after 15 minutes in there I was deteriorating, so we got enough for breakfasts and snacks and left.
I fell asleep on the couch a few hours later, so when it came to bed time I was wide awake. By 1am I still couldn’t sleep so decided to unpack everything. The jetlag was definitely still messing with me, my stomach was also really upset still too. I finally fell asleep by 3am, woke up a few times and got up at 1130am. We wanted to do proper grocery shopping so I was waiting to feel energetic enough to leave the house. That wasn’t really happening so I just had to push myself out the door.
And that brings us to today where we spent the afternoon shopping in Wholefoods and Walmart. That was soo much fun! I don’t feel too tired either, probably all the excitement. Today is the day I stopped all my supplements too as I need my body to be a “clean slate” for the clinic on Monday (2 days away).
Tomorrow I’m hoping to be well enough to check out a shopping mall. I’m expecting treatment to be hard and make me feel unwell ( I think preparing for worst case scenario is smart and if I’m better than I expect then that’s a bonus), so I want to do as much as I can before all that starts. Tomorrow will be day 2 off all supplements, I hope my body continues to cope as well as it has been. I feel that the universe has been working in my favour and giving me a break before things get hard. I’m really greatful I’ve been able to enjoy touristy things and have fun before things get serious. It’s a really weird feeling though. Because I don’t feel as unwell as I usually do right before I start treatment, it’s almost like I don’t feel like a sick person. Being a tourist has helped me feel “normal” again.
My hope until Monday is that I remain present and calm, that I do not buy into my thoughts of fear and feed them and that I remain positive in all the good that will come from this. This will be the best experience of my life and I’m so greatful to have been givin this gift by all who have contributed to making it happen.  Thank you xoxo

More from the Amusement Park
In case you didn't see the previous stuff, I worked in food service at an amusement park for 2 years, and most of the time, I was at a bar in the water park. For the 2015 season, the regulars at that location were me, 2 work-travel Dominicans and 1 work-travel Thai girl. First, I need to give a little background for the upcoming story about Labor Day weekend.
I was working 6 days a week. My availability has been that I can't work past 3:30 on Saturdays or before 2:30 on Tuesdays. Four to five days a week (based on if I was working Tuesday or Wednesday), I was working 10-10.5 hour shifts (with one forty-five minute break, which, btw, is unpaid). And in case you're thinking, "Well, at least that many hours means you got a good amount of overtime," actually, no. There's some stupid loophole in the labor laws (can't remember if it's state or federal) that exempts seasonal recreational places, like the amusement park. To get overtime, we had to work over 52 hours a week. I asked (and was granted) for the last Friday through Monday off to visit my mom's side of the family out of state. We stay with my grandma, who has lake front property. It was nice and relaxing to hang out, walk around barefoot, go swimming, etc. Monday, the day we drive back home, I woke up, still tired and really sore on my right side. I had no appetite. I took an Aleve for my soreness, but to no avail. That night, a few hours after getting home, I started getting a bad case of the chills. I had to get up early the next day to volunteer, which is why I can't work until the afternoons on Tuesdays. I was beyond tired. I was in my own little world as I showered and got my breakfast together (which I ate a whole 2 bites of, due to my still-gone appetite) because it was hard enough to concentrate on what I was doing, let alone anyone else. As I was trying to get the last of my stuff for volunteering together, I decided I needed to lay down for a little before I left. My dad left for work, and my mom says if I'm that tired maybe I should call in. I didn't fight it because 1) I was too tired to, and 2) I knew it'd be unsafe for me to drive like that. (I ended up cancelling on work too.) Around noon, I notice a rash-looking thing on my right shin and on the inside of my thigh just above my knee. It was tender to the touch and made it painful to walk and stand on that leg. I end up going to the urgent care nearby. The doctor diagnoses it as cellulitis, a bacterial skin infection. (Look it up, it can turn very serious if not treated quickly or efficiently enough.). He gives me oral antibiotics and a note to cover missing work that day and the next. I take advantage of it, and go back to work on Thursday. I end up asking to get off early (I was supposed to be there until close) because my leg was really hurting me. It was still discolored to support that something was going on. When I get home, I take my socks and shoes off to lay down and let our crazy dog lick my feet. My dad comes into the room and sees this bright magenta spot on the outside of my ankle. (I was too tired and hurting to check anything myself.) We talked to the after-hours doctors exchange people. The nurse decided it was probably a bruise but I should go see a doctor the next day. I couldn't get into my regular doctor, so I end up back at the urgent care. The doctor this time says I need to go to the hospital because it hadn't improved enough since Tuesday. I'm in the hospital from Friday through Tuesday. I spend the next Wednesday through Tuesday at home (and 3 hours on Tuesday volunteering, but I do computer stuff, and I usually do 4 hours). I was back to work Wednesday through Sunday, then we went to weekends only. For those 5 days I had a note to sit for most of my shift. The following Saturday, August 22, I was back to having to stand. As I was getting ready to leave for work, I noticed what felt like a pulled muscle  in my right inner thigh. I went down hill from there, having slight chills, increasing aches and tiredness, bouts of nausea, etc. People were getting sent home early because it was raining, but not me, even though I had to be off by "early" anyway, and I'm pretty sure people were getting sent home even after I mentioned I was nauseous. (I swear that supervisor, "Adam", hated me.) I ended up getting moved over to the employee-only restaurant. The lead there knew the week before that I'd been sitting. He asked me if I wanted the stool. Even though I wasn't supposed to, I said yes. There's no way I would have refused. I had to get up 3 times the rest of the day, including to leave. I could barely walk. I toughed it out to go to a cosmic bingo that night, but once my mom, sister and I got home, I went to fill my water bottle up, and puked in the sink. My temperature at home was 103.9, so my dad took me to the hospital. By the time we got there, it was around 11:30 at night and my temperature was 103.7. My blood pressure was really low. Once they got me back, they started treating me for severe sepsis as well as my leg. I was in a daze pretty much the whole night, probably from my high temp. I was in the hospital Saturday night/Sunday morning until Friday. I had to take the Saturday and Sunday after getting out off to rest at home. (This was the 1st weekend the internationals were gone.) For the following weekend, Labor Day weekend, I had a note to sit as necessary.
I get on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and I'm the only person there. "Well, somebody will be by. They wouldn't just leave me here alone." I get my till, get ice, and try to make sure everything was clean and stocked since it hadn't been done well the previous weekend. I still don't have anyone else to help out. I'm barely starting to make nachos when we open. Still no one else. I keep getting disturbed by customers. Finally, someone from the main park is brought down to help, maybe around 11 or so. I'm making nachos and he's helping customers. I briefly tell him I've been sick and have a note to sit, so it'd be easier for me to do the nachos. I end up calling Adam to tell him we're gonna need more nachos. The one register goes down so I have to come up and start helping customers. The line is huge. Noon passes, 2 o'clock passes. I haven't had a break yet and barely any time to sit. (Plus, people are complaining about how long the line's taking.) Finally, I pull myself away from the register around 2:45 to call the Adam at the main building. I tell him that I'm supposed to be off at 3:30, but I haven't had a break yet, so I'll have to be off by 3. He comes by, says the nachos were in the back, says something, and disappears. I'm too busy with customers to completely realize what's happened. Finally, I call back, maybe around 3:20. He says he'll be back over "soon", I tell him I need off NOW. He ends up coming by with pretzels, takes his time putting them in the machine and getting the other guy's drawer out of the register that went down. I didn't clock out until 3:47, having worked 6 hours and 49 minutes without a break, when we're required to have a break after 6. I ate at one of the nearby McDonalds. Plus, I got home really achy,
Sunday, I go in, clock in at 8:57. I do as much as I can before opening at 10:30, but I don't get any further than the day before. It seems busier, earlier. I get people complaining about the line, like I'm sorry, but I'm the only person here. (It took all 4 of us regulars on a normal weekend, but they decided that on one of the busiest weekends, I should be able to do all the work myself. Go figure.) I have one slower guy "Steve"  who's helping both me and the main building. They finally bring a guy "Matt" from the main park, maybe around 11:30 or noon. Matt and I are working our butts off, but customers are still complaining that it's taking 45 minutes or an hour or whatever to get through the line. At one point, Steve come over and says, "Good news, we're not getting a break today." I figure he means until we close, and when that usually happens, they'll let us have free food. By 5 (the water park closes at 6), I am in horrible shape. I'm having trouble moving from being so sore, I'm hungry and thirsty (I barely even let myself have any water since I was so busy with customers), all that usual stuff. By 6:30 or 6:40, the line was slow enough (from stragglers) that we only needed 1 register. I could see the security guards down the way working on clearing the park. I step outside the stand and close the curtain/flap thing on that side. I start wiping down the counters. Matt helps our last customer and we start talking. He mentioned at one point that he hopes it takes until 9 to finish cleaning because he didn't want to get dragged back to the main park to help close at the ice cream parlor or funnel cake stand. I thought "H*** no! There's no way I am staying that late." I mentioned that since I'd been sick and was supposed to be sitting as necessary,  I was thinking about maybe calling over to see if I could get off at 7 like I was scheduled to. It would work out for him because it would take him longer to clean up by himself than if he had me, despite how slow I was going anyway. Plus, nobody was telling me to take my break. In a lag in the conversation, I came in from trying to wipe down the outside edge of the counter (like stuff that can be hard for us to see due to the registers and soda machines and such) to sit down. We talked some more. (He'd the kind of guy who's nice, but will talk your ear off if you let him.) Btw, he had a break before leaving the main park. It gets to be about 7, I ask him if he'd be okay if I called to ask off. He said sure. I call over and get one of the leads. "I'm scheduled to be off at 7, can I get off?" "Is the bar clean?" "No." "Go ahead and finish cleaning it first." By this time I'm whimpering to myself. "But I have a doctor's note to sit and I haven't..." "Oh, okay, I'll be right over." (Lesson: magic words are "doctor's note".) She gets me out of the register, and I pack up my till, take it back, and clock out after 10 hours and 15 minutes.
Some people will go in on their day off to work anyway, and sometimes the office calls to see if you can come in last minute. There was no way I was going to come in on my own on Monday (since I wasn't scheduled). And if they tried to get me to come in, I'd probably say I couldn't come in until like 4 or 5. Something where they probably wouldn't want to, and, if they did, I wouldn't have to deal with the majority of the customers of the day. If they're going to treat me like c***, I'm not going to do anything for them in return. I think that was my last straw that I decided I'd be transferring departments for the 2016 season.

Okay. So I’m right now writing this while on our flight back from Rhode Island, currently on plane 1 from providence RI to DC where we’ll transfer to our second flight home to Chicago (and work 9 am tomorrow- yay 😑) but I’ve been sidetracked and tired so I’m overdue for some day posts for you guys, so consider this my weekend post for Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Probably doing paragraphs so it’ll post on tumblr mobile without fighting me too much.
Hopefully I remember enough details about Friday lol but I guess we’ll find out now. So I woke up at 7 like every morning and got ready for work. I was a little anxious about court based on what’s been going on but things were for the most part ok (I just had to remind one of the lawyers the reason I hadn’t looked over the folders were because they were in her possession, lol). Came back from work and got to work on my projects, it was the last day for the lawyer that lives right by me and is going to another firm so they ordered us lunch from that one Mexican place that’s like the fucking best and we all just talked about how much we loved their food the whole time lol so that was good. I did my normal crappy work until 3 at which point I was peacing out early to make sure we got to the airport in time for our flight. So I ubered home from there, changed and grabbed my bags, then ubered to pick up Jess and then head to the airport. We ended up getting to the gate with plenty of time to spare (because we had planned ahead accordingly) so we got food from this sit down Italian place which was perfect because I got to use it to spam my small group group chat with pictures of italian food because I’m rallying for us to go to an actual italian place sometime soon lol. The food sadly wasn’t quite as good as expected but was still fine.
Finished up there and headed back to the gate, not long after boarded the plane and took off. I always do the sudoku puzzle in the back of the inflight magazine while on a flight and after looking over my shoulder trying to point out places where 4’s would go Jess just got out her own magazine and tried to do it and subsequently got very frustrated that it wasn’t as easy as it looked, lol. So I did the two puzzles they had, then went back to reading the fanfic I had on my phone. The flight at that point ended up getting fairly turbulent which was somewhat anxiety inducing for some of us but of course we landed safe and sound. We got off the plane and figured out how the airport did it’s ride service before taking a Lyft (the pick up places for lyft and Uber were apparently different and we were in the lyft pick up place) back to our Airbnb, which upon getting to the street the driver was like “well I can’t see any of the numbers on the houses” and proceeded to just drop us off in the middle of the street. Well then. Remember it’s like 12:30 am lol. But we figured out which house was the right one then I had to pull out the guide for checking in which was getting the keys from the lock box and then getting into the place, which we eventually figured out lol and got to our room, at which point we basically just dropped our stuff and went to bed because we were mad tired lol.
The con opened at 10 and I wanted to shower (since I hadn’t the night before) in the morning so Jess set an alarm for 8:45. Got up when it went off and I just like, had a chill for some reason that was annoyingly with me like the whole day but was very apparent while I was trying to shower and get ready. But we managed, finished all that good stuff (I was doing Catwoman because it was easy and comfortable) and ubered to the con place which was thankfully very close by (we do this thing where Jess is like “did you get the Airbnb close to the airport or close to the convention?” and I’m like “?? Isn’t guess we’ll see maybe neither!!” Lol because it’s usually somewhat of a compromise between the two but this one ended up being nice and close to the place) where we joined a giant outdoor line to get in which of course was just not moving and then when it started went rather slowly. It wasn’t laid out all that well so we had to find out way around a bit at first.
Couldn’t find any coffee, which was kinda ridiculous because the place was called the Dunkin’ Donuts center (we did eventually find one Dunkin’ Donuts in the building, so Jess and I had to just buy cokes and drink them for caffeine lol. So we grabbed those and some sort of breakfasty food item before hitting up the show floor. Basically the show floor was its own thing attached to the photo op area, then there was a room with the like. B-List” celebrities (which was still some like, fairly major people, they just had a LOT of guests) then over like a connected portion of it where they actually play the sports ball (I think they did basketball and hockey, we concluded) was the major celebrities. So we went through the show floor and checked things out, then went to the smaller celeb room, where Katrina Law was, and we were planning on meeting her on Sunday for photos and such but she didn’t have a line at the moment (the set up of that particular room was REALLY bad) so we went and said hi to her for a bit, then eventually checked out the big celebrities which took a while for us to figure out how to actually get to where they were. So the people I actually cared about in this room were Kiefer Sutherland and Tom Felton, both of which has gigantic lines when we got there. I had a photo op with Kiefer later and was planning on hitting up his line after for an autograph. But nobody in that room was doing selfies (officially at least) and of course Tom’s autograph was a lot of money so I moved to kinda being meh on whether I actually ended up meeting him or not.
At this point I think we returned to the show floor where we hung out for a bit before getting up to try to wait for our photo op but there was a bit of a crowd in the area of people waiting to go back that they eventually just made disperse entirely so we kinda hung out around that area until we were called. I was going for Kiefer and Jess was getting a photo with Hayden Christensen, of Star Wars fame of course, which both happened to be around the same time. So once we got back there my line moved pretty quickly, Jess ended up being stuck there a little longer though. But yeah, it was the same photo people from last week’s con so we’re used to their deal, came in and fangirled to myself a little that he was RIGHT THERE and then of course inched closer as people got through, when it came to it he shook my hand and I said my name, took the photo just kinda generic nice pose, then as I was leaving I was like “I’ll be back for an autograph later!” to which he just kinda laughed and said okay.
We were planning on going to a panel that started not long afterwards featuring Katrina Law, Emma Dumont, and Elizabeth Henstridge (from Shield, who was new to me) and needed to get lunch at some point so I grabbed some food and we ate it as we made our way to the line to get in the panel. Ended up getting pretty good seats. The panel was great, they were all hilarious and totally upfront about everything. Jess asked the whole “what emojis would you use to describe your character and yourselves” and I was typing furiously the whole time in order to be able to tweet all the right emojis correctly for them lol. It was great because Emma asked Jess if she was cosplaying Jessica Jones which was what had been happening all day because she was wearing a black leather jacket, jeans, and black boots, but was not actually trying to cosplay her and was planning on another outfit she ended up forgetting an aspect of, but she said yes anyway, then later on in the panel Emma was like “I’m always just wearing my clothes and people are like ‘are you cosplaying Jessica Jones?’ and I just say yes even though I’m not” at which point we all laughed very hard because that’s literally what just happened. The rest of the panel was fun, Katrina Law had some very funny moments about reading in the Arrow script where out of nowhere Ra’s is like “no, they’re actually going to get married” and she just died laughing because she was like “the Olicity’s are gonna be so mad” and really that’s the best motivation to do anything in life.
So that was fun, and after that we went back over to the big celeb room to see how things were looking, with the hope that Kiefer’s line wouldn’t be too bad and I could get my photo op signed. There were only a handful of people in his line when we got there but he was also very obviously not at the table lol, so we investigated and asked if we knew when he was gonna be back and they were like “5 minutes” at which point we were like well that’s probably not true but it’s worth getting in line anyway so we did and maybe like 40 minutes later he showed up? Still much much better than like 2 1/2 hours in line lol so I was satisfied.
Now I guess I should talk about how much I love him to fully explain this story. Since it was a con and they were marketing towards what people would know him from there was a lot of like photos and stuff he was in when he was younger, none of which I’d ever seen or really had any idea existed, and some of those photos were rather entertaining. Back to the point though, I loved 24 back in the day like super hardcore, we were diehard fans for multiple seasons and like, I adored that show lol. If any of you remember my post from last weekend when I met Annie Wersching and how much I loved her, this is like that except so much more because this is the MAN who was the center of it all and damn I love him so much. Of course it’s been years since that has aired and he has in fact moved on, and I most definitely started watching Designated Survivor for him because I loved him so much. If you’re not familiar with the concept of the show it’s like when there’s a state of the union speech or something where all the members of the congress and cabinet and president are all in one place there’s like one person removed at a different location in case something should happen to all of the people at that location, which of course begs the question what on earth would happen if that were the case?? And that’s where the show picks up, with him being a minor member of the cabinet, secretary of housing or something along those lines but not like a politician really and he gets selected to be the person not at the state of the union and then of course there’s a horrific massive terrorist attack where they blow up the capitol building and suddenly the president, his entire cabinet, and the entirety of congress (apparently, anyway, but that’s another story) are all gone and this guy is now being sworn in as president. So I mean it’s pretty wild. But like, ugh he’s so great at it, and it frequently makes me frustrated that we’re in our current presidential reality because Tom Kirkman dammit is a fucking fantastic president and why can’t we just have him??? It’s not fair. So I was pretty amped to meet him.
So we get up there and he makes some comment about me being back with my cat ears lol and we talked and I said how much I loved the two shows and how happy I was that designated survivor got picked up by Netflix for a third season after it’s apparent cancellation because I really loved him in that show and wasn’t ready to say goodbye to it today and then he told me I made his day and was really happy and then when we were leaving he was like “see ya Rach” and I just died entirely I was deceased lol like this was so wild I couldn’t handle it. So I was sufficiently amped up after that lol. We were pretty much done after that so we were gonna get dinner and we were looking for a place on google maps and such and we wanted to see if we could make it to a store or some sort that had baby clothing to get a present for Katrina which hadn’t occurred to us until we arrived at the con and somebody else had done so for some reason lol. So I found a Cheesecake Factory next to some stores and y’all now how we feel about the Cheesecake Factory lol so we ubered over there and had to wait a bit but that was fine because after a crazy day just sitting was relaxing enough lol. So we were typical and ordered the same things we always get lol and then for dessert we both got the pumpkin cheesecake because it’s PUMPKIN time of course lol so that was lovely.
Once we finished there we walked down the road a bit to see what our options were and ended up going into an Old Navy to find their baby clothes section and like, this is why we don’t go to stores with baby clothes in them regularly because we both just like, died, looking at the clothing that was too fucking cute. We ended up finding these really cute little kitty shoes and got two kitty themed shirts to go with it and another shirt that had unicorns on it because we know how Katrina feels about unicorns haha and then got an adorable bunny gift bag by the register to give it to her in. So we were very happy with our purchases. We got an Uber back to the Airbnb that smelled very strongly of axe and I was like ?? lol and when we got back Jess showered and when she got out I brushed my teeth and it was like 8:30 but I was like I’m fucking tired I’m going to bed now lol and I was cold all fucking day like I said so I literally slept in my leather jacket because I didn’t want to take it off 😂😂😂 oh I didn’t explain the whole bedding situation from the night before, oh that was a trip unto itself, let me recount that so you can all appreciate what was happening here.
So if you read this blog at all you probably know that I’m allergic to polyester and can often recognize it on sight because at this point I know what it looks like. So we get to the room and there’s like a folded blanket at the foot of the bed that’s polyester and I’m just like whatever that doesn’t bug me but then once we pulled back the comforter there was a matching blanket and seat set that, I fucking kid you not, were all made out of polyester. And like, I’d never even seen polyester sheets up to this point so this was a totally new situation, and it was the blanket the sheets and the pillowcases so I was like welp I’m fucked and my original idea was to use my designated bath towel as a buffer where my skin would otherwise come into contact with the polyester but that didn’t work very well, at which point we turned the lights back on and took the non-polyester comforter from the top of the bed and just basically wrapped myself in it (like a burrito) and Jess got the rest of the blankets and that worked out fairly well lol so that was that adventure.
Anyway, Saturday night I fell asleep fairly quickly and woke up Sunday morning to my alarm at 9 and started getting ready for day two of the con. I was doing white canary Sara for the day since Katrina was there and we’d be seeing her. So I got into all my gear for that trying to be as careful as I could with my prized possession White Canary jacket signed by Caity Lotz (which was her idea, not mine, just saying). Lol. Since we were more familiar with the venue and their general lack of suitable food (that’s con food for ya) we ubered to a Starbucks that was down the block from the con center to get food and caffeine before going to the con. They somehow ended up being out of butter croissants but offered these honey pistachio ones they’re having now which was actually like super good??? I was kinda doubtful because even though I do like pistachios I’m still not a huge nut person but there ended up being fairly little of actual pistachio on it haha and was just in generally really good! So that was cool. Our goals for the day were pretty much the female actors from the panel the day prior, who were all in the smaller room so we headed up there and hit up Emma Dumont’s table first. If you weren’t around in April to read about our HVFF Chicago interaction with her basically neither of us were particularly attached to her but were going to get an autograph as a surprise for a friend’s birthday and she ended up being like the loveliest person ever so much so that we both got more into The Gifted and into her because it was basically the most personable celebrity interaction I’ve ever had like, it’s hard to explain how awesome she is haha she just is. She didn’t have a line at the time so that helped let us kinda hang out with her a bit longer than we typically would if there was a line (not that that seemed to bother her last time). So of course the first thing that came up was that Jess was cosplaying Lorna (her character from The Gifted) and then the whole Jessica Jones thing from the panel which she thought was fucking hilarious and then proceeded to tell us a story about being mistaken for Krysten Ritter as a Marvel person lol. And she was just continually awesome and hilarious. We ended up getting into a bit of a discussion re HVFF San Jose and how they had apparently been declining Marvel guests and she was like “I was trying so hard, like I came early and stayed late...” and like it made me so angry that anyone would be so rude to her like that after she had been so lovely to everyone so now I’m low key gonna run a Twitter campaign to make HVFF invite Marvel guests to their cons because that’s super shitty of them and they shouldn’t be treating people like that (I’m thinking like #twobrandsonefandom or something corny like that) so yeah that’s what’s happening there lol.
Once we left her table we ran into friends so we talked to them for a bit before going over to Elizabeth Henstridge’s table. Now I’ve seen precisely one episode of Shield so I don’t really know who she is other than from the panel the day before (well, that and certain stories Jess has told me.....) but the interaction was nice enough, she was lovely and British so that was all good. Katrina hadn’t been there initially but walked in after we had finished at Elizabeth Henstridge’s table just a few down from her so we got in the small line that has accumulated for her (again, the layout of this room was super shitty and not at all favorable for actually building lines) and got to her rather quickly, we gave her the baby clothes and she freaked out and loved them so we took a picture with her with them (even though we hadn’t technically paid for a picture 🤷🏻‍♀️) but Katrina was great as always and she was so excited like this is going to be the most well-dressed baby haha it’s gonna be great. It occurred to me that if we had had hindsight we should’ve gotten her a shirt similar to the one Annie Wersching had been wearing last week when she was Very Pregnant and her shirt said “future marvel superhero” with an arrow down pointing at her stomach so if we got Katrina one that said DC and then a baby outfit that said “future DC superhero” for when she’s born we probably would’ve won the internet, but alas, we missed this opportunity sadly. But after that we exited that room and got drinks quickly because my throat was being super dry and my credit card got declined which was like ??? but I figured it was probably a travel issue that’s happened a few times before so I didn’t think anything of it and just paid in cash and used my debit card for the rest of the day. We then hit up the show floor for a bit and weaves through all of it but were pretty much done there. We decided to go elsewhere for lunch then come back (though at this point I was like in all honestly we’re probably not gonna end up coming back). Jess was having a very bad allergy day probably due to something at the Airbnb, either pet related or some toiletry product (damn travel sized shampoos) and it was getting bad so we needed to obtain allergy medication so we got directions to the nearest CVS which required going through the hotel the con center was attached to over to a mall that had a CVS, so that was kinda confusing but we made it over and bought some Claritin D that would hopefully be helpful. Since we were at a mall at this point we went up to the food court to get some food there and ended up at a Johnny Rockets because shakes.
K so just for context I’m now in an Uber on the way home so a lot has happened since I started typing this lol. But yeah, Johnny Rockets was good of course and then we decided as I expected to not bother going back to the con and instead walked around the mall for a bit hitting up our typical shops (which are like, hot topic, h&m, forever 21 and some comic store lol) before ubering back to the Airbnb where we had left our bags to change and grab them before heading to the airport. Got to the airport, security was fine even though their stupid scanner hates me, but we got to our gate with time to spare. We were at the end of the hall in a fairly deserted spot and there was a guy like laying down on the floor with his shoes off and like we didn’t think anything of it because hey people in airports are tired and sometimes need naps. But then a security guy came over and was like radioing “we found him” and tried to gently wake him up and was like “we were looking for you, your wife’s here and she’s very worried about you and was about to cry” and I was like well shit now I feel bad that I didn’t like go tell somebody he was there haha but like I didn’t really think anything of it. So they got a wheelchair for him and wheeled him out of there. At some point I got some food from down in the terminal and we waited until our flight was boarding, once we were on it I listened to the legends podcast episode that dropped today and when I finished that I started writing this.
Short summary on what has happened since, we had initially had a very short layover that Jess was (rightfully) anxious about but our second flight ended up getting delayed so that wasn’t an issue. But they didn’t have like an open gate for some reason so we had to deplane and get in a bus that drove us to the terminal, then to get to our next gate we had to get on another bus to a different terminal before finally reaching our gate, so that was a bit of an adventure, and I mean if our flight hadn’t gotten delayed we almost definitely would’ve missed our connection under those circumstances and that would’ve been bad for everyone so I’m glad that didn’t happen. I grabbed a water and a small fruit cup from the store before sitting for a bit then boarding the plane, at which point I started typing this again and did so through the end of the plane ride, where we got off and went to the ride share pick up spy and for some reason two Ubers canceled on us so I was like fuck it I’m using lyft which ended up being like $8 cheaper but for some reason took like three tries to go through and then it looked like the driver wasn’t moving but eventually he did and we went outside to meet him, got in and started driving home, at which point I started typing this again and I’m still on my way home now. I took my pills on the plane this time so hopefully I won’t have to much of an issue falling asleep because I have to be up at 7 for work like have to have to can’t slack off and call in sick HAVE TO so I need to get as much sleep as possible. But yeah, that’s been this weekend up to this moment, pretty wild. We’re not quite home yet but I think I’m ready to sign off here, so I’ll talk to you guys soon. Goodnight peeps. Have as best of a Monday as Mondays can be.

Disney Employees Share The Strangest Things They’ve Witnessed At Work
Disney Is A Truly Magical Place.
However, magical doesn’t mean there aren’t many weird things happening behind the scene’s that you are probably not aware of. So in hopes to educating the general public of the most bizarre incidents that employee’s witnessed at work, we compiled the following list.
#1 Showered With Free Stuff.
So, at the Alien scene, there’s a point where the alien comes down from the ceiling and strikes at the guests. It’s about 6 feet above their heads, strikes two or three times, then creeps back into the darkness above. So one day, the alien comes OFF of its track, and flies directly into the lap of one of the guests. He gets a good smack on the face, and everyone around him is suitably terrified.
As was policy, before they could run around screaming about murdering Disney rides. The guests were ushered into a room full of guest services people, and showered with gifts and refunds and free tickets and all sorts of “please don’t take this to the press” items.
Now I did get confirmation that all this happened. What I never got enough evidence of was that the man who was directly hit by the alien – all he asked for was the alien. He wanted it for his collection. According to rumor, he was given the alien, and sent happily on his way while they installed the spare one.

#2 Truly Magical.
The Witch in the Wizard of Oz section broke mid-speech, and spewed hydraulic fluid all over the first 3 rows of the ride, from the tip of her finger. Like she was casting a real spell.

#3 That Is Just A Big No.
While standing in line, an adult man took a crap in the corner of the pre-show (it’s like a little movie theater.) A toddler wandered over to the alleged poop, picked it up, and did what toddlers do- put it in his mouth.
I encountered the aftermath of this in the cast-member break-room, as the mom rushed her poop-covered baby into our bathroom, with her half-drunk husband following behind her saying, “What? It’s just crap.”

#4 Now That Would Be Awesome.
Once a guy walked up to me while it was raining, and in all seriousness said, “Hey, I know you guys have to water the plants, but can you turn off the rain for a while?” He really thought that there was a bubble surrounding Disney that controlled the weather.

#5 I Don’t Even Know What To Say.
I once had a lady who was waiting in line ask me if it was okay if her son went to the bathroom. So, I said sure thinking she was going to take him, nope this boy who had to be close to 10 pulled down his pants and started pissing in line. I did not know how to react. I just stood there in watched astonished.

#6 Never Get Drunk And Try To Be A Hero.
A drunk dude picked up a princess, threw her over his shoulder and started heading toward the exit. I don’t believe his intentions were malicious, but security/police followed him until he was done with his ‘act’ and promptly took him to jail where he got charged with at least one felony.

#7 How Could That Even Happen?
I was working on one of the roller-coasters in Paris and there was a kid on it with his dad, the kid was very scared like he was shaking and this ride you were held in by a harness and your legs were hanging free.
I looked down at the people walking under the ride only to see that this kid had pooped himself in fear and the poop landed and hit an old lady on the face, she fell over from the force of it and had to go home in an ambulance.
#8 Just Having A Good Jog.
I saw a fella fall off the balcony in the Animal Kingdom hotel with the giraffes and run from wildlife for a good hour while they slowly got all the animals out of his way and got him out. No one got hurt and it was pretty funny to watch.

#9 A Little Momentum.
This lady with a serious obsession with Alice and would pretty much go every day to Disneyland and dress up like her. One day she decided she needed a piece of Alice for herself and actually cut off a piece of hair from the actress at the park!

#10 Why Does Everyone Think That?
Picked up a shift in Magic Kingdom one rainy afternoon. A lady approached me and asked if I could ‘close the dome’. I said “excuse me?”, to which she replied: “It’s raining! Close the dome so we don’t get wet!”. I had to explain to her that there isn’t a giant dome that covers Magic Kingdom to prevent getting wet from the rain. I then told her that the Dumbo ride is actually a lot of fun in the pouring rain.

#11 That Is The Perfect Answer.
I drove the truck at Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom…one of the Disney World parks, if you’re not familiar. I drove 40 guests at a time through a wildlife reserve with no fences. Most of the animals can wander right onto the road, blocking your path.
Also, there are no tracks…you’re really responsible for driving the truck, really responsible for the guests’ safety, and really responsible for not running over a rhino. Or, more realistically, not GETTING run over by a rhino.
There are natural barriers between predator and prey, so you’re not going to see a lion pounce on a zebra. But that doesn’t mean the animals can’t surprise you.
Lots of animals having sex, midtour. Usually I would drive right past it without comment…adults might snicker, but I could distract the kids by pointing out facts about other animals in the vicinity.
But one day I’m driving and a Rhino decides to take a nap in the road right in front of us. That means all trucks stop where they are until the rhino moves.
We were stuck out there for more than an hour…in a downpour. I know maybe eight facts about each animal, so I’ve depleted my entire resevoir of facts within 30 minutes. The rest of it was all improv…trying to keep 40 high-paying strangers entertained in an open-air truck that isn’t moving in a rainstorm for an hour.
Just as I’m completely racking my brain for material, two zebras start humping. A little girl screams “WHAT ARE THEY DOING???” I immediately reply, “Oh, that’s a game called Leap Zebra. Like Leap Frog, but with more stripes. This particular zebra seems to be very bad at it.”
The adults were all busting up laughing…it seriously eased the tension.

#12 Well At-Least The Kid Was Alright I Think.
I worked the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kindgom and if you’ve never been on it, it would be legitimately terrifying to a 5-6 year old kid. I’m about to launch a car into the ride and there is a kid who is bawling and screaming that he did not want to go on the ride.
We were required to ask the parent if it is okay for their kid to ride if they were reacting like this. I say, “Ma’am, is your son going to be able to ride?” As this happens, the kid begins to violently cough and then, in what I can only assume is an act of motherly instinct, she cups her hands under her son’s mouth and he projectile vomits into her waiting hands.
I stand there in shock, but she calmly looks me in the eyes and says, “He’ll be fine,” as she moves her now overflowing palms over her bag and dumps the vomit into her purse without flinching. I stand there, mouth agape at the act I just witnessed, and press the button to start the ride.
I’m not ready for fatherhood.

#13 Why Is Everyone Drunk In Disney?
While I was working on Dumbo, these drunk people removed their infant from the seat belt and held the baby like Simba outside of the carriage while the ride was up 18 feet in the air so their other drunk friends could take pictures of them doing it, we had to emergency stop the ride; they were escorted away and I heard arrested once outside the park gates.
It was very scary to witness.

#14 Why Would You Do That?
People would do a lot of dumb stuff, but the most bizarre was when I was working at space mountain I was on rotation in a position called “mountain 3” basically I stood by the handicap entry to the ride and helped people get on and took wheelchairs to the exit.
Anyway it was middle of summer and really busy when a lady wearing a big Disney hoodie was going through the normal line. I thought it was a little weird to wear a jacket during the summer, but whatever.
She then gets to restraint which is the last check point before the ride begins. At restraint they just check your lap bars and then press a green button. While there the cast members hear a whine coming from the ladies jacket and found that she was trying to smuggle her infant daughter on the ride.
So he calls me over because I have a radio and we kick her off the ride, call our managers, and security. She ended up getting blacklisted from Disney world.

#15 Well, That Is Just Awkward.
I worked Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland 2008-2009. Every younger couple tries to get away with messing around on the boats during non-peak hours. There are seriously cameras everywhere.
We caught this couple having oral sex in the back. Instead of normally yelling at them over the intercom, we let him finish. As the girl leaned over to spit, my co-worker got on the intercom with the loudest “NOT IN THE WATER”.
I hope they’re married by now.
