FP Jones/Andrews Family/Riverdale imagines - Oh Dear Part 1
Tumblr media
AN: It’s so awkward when nearly the whole fandom is in love with the teenage boys on the show and I’m over here obsessing over the DILFs and the girls of the show. So I wrote this to see who else adores the daddies of Riverdale. This will be a series so stick around for more if you love this serpent as much as I.
Summary: You’re Archie’s old sister and you have a thing for a certain serpent
Pairing: Reader x FP Jones, Sister!Reader x Archie Andrews, Daughter!Reader x Fred Andrews
Word count: 1,967
Warnings: Well, FP is clearly older than the reader in this fic, none really
It all started when you were younger. Jughead’s Dad came over one night to talk to Jughead. Jughead was round for a sleepover with your younger brother Archie and FP came round because he had some news, about what, you didn't know. But what you did know was in that moment you realised you were utterly attracted to your younger brother’s best friend’s Dad. That was the moment you knew you were screwed.
As you got older, it got easier to hide the crush but when Jughead and Archie became friends after not talking for a little while, it got harder to ignore it.
You managed to keep everything to yourself until one day when your dad decided to give FP a second chance at working at the construction site.
Jughead had somehow managed to convince his Dad to get his life right.
That was one reason of a million that you chose to stay away.
The most obvious reason was the fact that FP was old enough to be your dad, after all, you were in your senior year of high school, you didn't want to mess it up by playing Lolita. But Jughead’s Dad was also troublesome, dangerous, to be wary of.
After his wife left with his daughter then everything with him seemed to get 10x worse but you chose to look past that and you chose to not get involved at all with him.
But as I said, everything started on that one day. You don’t know what came over you, but you knew you didn't really regret it.
“Wow... Jughead’s really living in the school?” You asked Archie as you sat opposite each other at lunch.
“Yeah, he said things aren't great at home with his Dad after our Dad fired him.” Archie told you,
“Really?” You bit down on your lower lip. You knew that he’d been out of work for a while but you didn't know Jughead wasn’t living there because it was so bad.
“Yeah. I managed to talk to Dad, get him to give FP another chance. At least make things easier for Jug if he knew his Dad had a job again. Jughead’s over at his place now to see if he’s gonna take the job.” Archie informed you.
“I had no idea.” You admitted, frowning to yourself.
“Neither did I but we’ll get it sorted out. We always do.” Archie stood up as the bell went, trying his best to be positive.
“Correction: We always try to.” You corrected your baby brother before heading to class.
Later that day, Archie messaged you to get you to come to the construction site after school. FP had taken the job and the boys wanted to celebrate and you thought it was a great idea.
You sat in the office, you and Archie were tossing a ball across to each other whilst you waited for the men to finish work.
“Oh, how was your first day back?” Jughead sat up as soon as the door opened and your dads walked in.
“It was great. Your dad is the hardest-working guy on the crew, as always.” Your dad told you all. You watched FP toss his hard hat at Jughead, his eyes briefly connected with your own as he leant against the filing cabinet just near you.
“Oh, in that case, why don't we celebrate to mark the occasion?” Jughead offered.
“Yeah, Juggy and I were thinking the five of us could have dinner or something?” Archie suggested, helping Jughead out.
“Uh, tonight? I don't know...” Fred almost rejected the idea but FP stepped in.
“I'm game if you're game. On me.”
And so you headed over to the Diner.
You sat opposite Jughead and FP slid down beside you, your dad on the other side of him.
You spent the evening eating and chatting, the two older men reflecting on the ‘glory days’ as teenagers. You didn't mind, you just liked to hear FP talk and hear him laugh. You had never heard him laugh before.
“Anyway we spent the whole summer fixing up that old VW bus.” FP continued with the story he had been telling and you were chuckling quietly beside him as you sucked on your chocolate milkshake.
You noticed FP’s eyes flicker down to you briefly, and his moved his arm so that it was resting on the back of the chair behind you.
“Yeah.” Fred nodded.
“Remember what we called it, Fred?” FP grinned.
“The Shaggin' Wagon.” The men said together, you grimaced but laughed.
“The Shaggin' Wagon.” FP laughed along with you and your dad.
You shook your head at the overgrown teenager.
“This was before your dad had game. Senior Year, he started a band, and then the girls were all over him.” FP patted your dad’s shoulder,
“We were awful.” Fred shook his head, smirking at the memory.
“Yeah, yeah, we were.” FP chuckled, “But it was great. Best time of my life.” FP looked over at your dad with a cheesy smile,
“You know, your dad was what is commonly known as a BMOC, Jughead.” Fred turned to Jughead.
“Come on. The hell I was.” FP scoffed.
“In what way?”Jug asked.
“Football, for one. He single-handedly defeated our arch-rivals, the Baxter High Ravens.” Fred started to explain but FP cut him short,
“He doesn't care about that stuff, Fred. Football, sports. Takes after his mom in that respect, and I mean that as a compliment. I'd rather see you spending your time writing, thinking up stories, you still do that? Nose in a book? Typing away?”
“Yeah, yeah, Jughead works on the school paper with Betty.” Archie answered for Jughead.
“Betty? - Ooh.” FP drummed on the table with his fingers, leaning forward with his eyebrows raised in question. “Who is Betty? Is that your girlfriend?”
“I wanna know more about the band. What was the name of the band?” Jughead quickly changed the subject and avoided the question.
You could probably believe that the sweet girl next door and Jughead Jones were crushing on each other.
“Ah, yeah. It was called The Fred Heads.” Your dad admitted and you almost spat down out your milkshake.
”Wait, the what now?” You asked, laughing at the men.
“Yeah, that's why it doesn't come up very often.” Fred turned a very light shade of pink but fortunately Pop’s arrived with the bill.
“Oh, thanks, Pop.” Fred took it and went to go pay.
“Oh, come on, Fred. This was supposed to be my treat.” FP groaned as he complained,
“Hey, you get it next time.” Fred sends it away, but FP calls it back.
“Hey, excuse me. Pop?”
“We invited you guys out. Let me pay.” Jughead digs into his pocket but FP snaps.
“Put your damn money away.”
“FP, take it easy.” Fred furrows his eyebrows at the sudden aggressive behaviour.
“You owe me this.” FP reminded your father. Owed him what exactly you didn't know.
“Yeah.” Fred gave in.
“Yeah.” FP dug out his money and paid the tab.
“Go ahead. You get this one. You know, if I'd have known, I would have gotten another milkshake.” Fred tried to lighten the mood but didn't quite so you tried.
“Hey, talking about the band, why don’t you come back to ours? Show us if you’ve got any tricks up your sleeve? Archie could really use the practise.” You asked FP,
“Yeah?” FP looked over at the boys,
“Yeah, sure. A little jam session would be fun, right dad?” Archie jumped at the idea.
“Um..Sure, sure.” Fred nodded,
“Let’s see how bad you actually are.” Jughead wiggled his eyebrows at his dad, and FP just laughed at the remark before you all headed back to your house.
Now this is where everything truly started. All the times before it was just a school girl’s crush but one slip up, changed everything.
You listened to the boys play in the garage from the outside. You didn't want to intrude on their guy time too much. It was always hard being the only girl in the family and anyway you didn't even play an instrument.
You watched FP on the guitar via the open door, you were a distance away but you could still see the smile on his face as he rocked out.
When they stopped playing you took a moment to lean back as you were sat on the steps and looked at the sky. It was such a nice night and today’s operation ‘help Juggy’s dad’ had gone better than expected.
You hadn't felt this happy in a while.
“What are you doing out here?” You didn't notice FP sneak up on you.
You head shot up and you looked over at the older man.
“Just enjoying the music. I didn't wanna intrude.” You admitted,
“You wouldn't be intruding, you invited me here, you can come into your own garage.” FP laughed and sat beside you. A little closer than he may of intentionally meant to.
“It’s fine. I like it out here anyway, it’s a beautiful night.” You smiled and looked back up at the stars,
“Yeah, it is.” FP said but he wasn’t watching the sky, he was watching at you, not that you noticed. “What year you in now?” FP asked.
“Senior. I go to college next fall.” You hated saying that. You didn’t want to go to college. You liked it in Riverdale, it’s why you chose to stay and not leave with your mother.
“Wow, you kids grow up fast.”FP chuckled, “where you going?” he asked, you faced him again but this time a whiff of strong liquor hit you. He had been drinking.
“I don’t know yet. I don't really want to go if I’m honest.” You rubbed your arm as goosebumps spread over it. FP noticed the chill and placed his arm around you.
“Why not? If Jughead got the chance, I’d be...It’d be amazing.” FP slurred his words slightly, you chuckled at his wobbly head and glazed eyes.
“Maybe cause I have something here that makes me want to stay.” You subconsciously snuggled closer to the man as the wind picked up.
“What? You got some boyfriend that your dad don’t know about?” FP asked.
“No, nothing like that. Guys my age are idiots.” You shook your head, running a hand through your hair.
“Ain’t that true. Well, what then?” FP shook your shoulders a little to try and get it out of you.
“You want me to be honest?” You didn’t know what you were doing, it was like there was some sort of trance over you, FP was finally showing you the attention you’ve craved and now you were about to cave in and finally speak up.
FP didn't say anything but gave you a ‘duh’ face which was funny to see on a man who was usually so serious.
“You.” You whispered quietly.
“Me?” FP was confused, he watched you bite down on your lower lip as you contemplated whether or not you should just tell him the complete truth.
“Yeah... and I’m only telling you this because you won't remember it but, yeah, you. I want to stay because of you, because, huh, I’ve crushed on you forever and I have some messed up idea that if I stay then at least I get to see you.” It all came out right there and then. And that’s where it started.
FP laughed for a moment and stood up.
“You’re funny, you’re cute but funny.” FP started backing up, his hands in his pockets. “I’ve gotta get back to the boys. You know playing with a man’s feelings like that isn't nice, doll.” FP backed away from you to head back to the garage.
You couldn’t believe he thought you were kidding.
“Goodnight, FP.” You just rolled your eyes and headed inside.

Jughead adjusts the beanie on his head as he enters the venue for tonight, pushing his backpack higher on his back. He feels a little naked not carrying his instruments but the roadies have forbid him to carry them, it would be hard to organize ourselves they said.
He follows the signs towards the dressing rooms to leave his backpack. Archie is already there next to Valerie and Melody, he had run late because he had tried to convince the roadies to let him take at least his guitar. It obviously hadn’t worked.
“Guys, sound-check in five, okay?” Trev, their main sound guys tells them. “Hey, Jug? Rescued this for you, don’t make me regret this later, alright?” He lifts an ukulele and hands it to Jughead.
“Oh Trev. You’re the best. Would you marry me?” Jughead says, accepting the ukulele with care before bringing it close to his chest and testing the strings to see if it’s in tune.
“I’m sorry man, I don’t think Sarah would like that.” Trev answers, smirking.
“I was asking the ukulele, Trev.” Jughead tells him, jokingly caressing the instrument. “Thank you, man.”
“No worries, now stop pestering my roadies.”
With that, Trev leaves and Jughead turns to his band with a smirk on his face.
“I told you I was his favorite.” He states, still smiling.
“Oh, come on. You only are his “favorite” because if he doesn’t give you a ukulele you would fidget and be all antsy until the show.” Valerie tells him, huffing as she applies her make up.
“Oh, Val, you got a little green on your face, dear. Might want to conceal that.” Jughead teases, narrowly avoiding the stress ball that she throws at him.
“Jerk.”
“Children, please.” Archie says, amused. “Should we start heading to soundcheck?”
“Yes please.” Melody says, getting up from the small couch in the room.
It takes another 15 minutes for soundcheck to start, they’re going in first so when Betty’s band comes in, they can leave it ready for them. Being the main act takes longer to soundcheck because everything needs to be perfect.
“Archie, guitar please.” Trev asks over the headphones and Archie starts playing a song of theirs. “Okay, now play it like you mean it.”
Archie starts to play his solo part on the same song, Jughead moves his head softly to the beat, enjoying the song and absently singing along to it.
“Great, now come forward to the mic, please.” Trev comes forward with a tablet in his hands, checking the cables are out of the way on the scenario. “Wait, let’s bring Jug’s bass forward first.”
Jughead starts playing after Trev nods at him, giving him the ok. Starting softly then playing harder with a melody he’s been fooling around with. A few seconds later Archie joins him, doing a base rhythm with the guitar. Jughead looks at him, smiling, moving side to side to what they’re playing.
One of their great qualities is that Archie and him have always been in sync, making it a wonderful musical partnership and it certainly made it easy for when one of them messed up, the other would instantly cover up.
Trev himself is moving his head to the rhythm while he moves faders on his tablet. Melody joins in with drums, already being mic’d, and they’re off playing an almost song he’s sure they will be perfecting on the road later.  Suddenly, there’s silence and an annoyed-looking Trev.
“Guys, you can jam later…” Trev says, moving towards a cable and moving out of the way. “Now, Jughead, your guitar…”
“Damn, Sargent, okay.” Jughead teases, leaving his bass on the side and grabbing Taylor, his guitar. “Should I test the pedals too?” he asks.
“Please do…”
They work like that, pleasantly playing and joking around. At one point Archie drops himself on the bass drum and Melody starts playing anyway, making his body move with each hit on the drum, Valerie in tears next to them and Trev shaking his head.
“Okay… I’m done with you children. I need to bring the new kids here now. Move out of my way.” Trev signals behind Jughead and he turns around.
He hadn’t realized Betty and her band were on the side watching them and he’s suddenly self-conscious of how they’d behaved. Logically he knows he has nothing to worry about, that later tonight he’ll be under the watchful eye of a lot of people, that should freak him out more. But as his eyes meet Betty’s, his throat dries a little at her shiny eyes and smile.
Jughead smiles awkwardly at her quickly, turning to leave his bass on the stand next to their guitars for the roadies to put aside.
“Hey, that was really great what you did back there.” Kevin approaches him. “I really like that chord progression. Groovy.”
“Thanks, man. It’s fun to let go of anxieties before the show.” Jughead tells him. “Plus, making Trev angry is a hobby of mine.”
Suddenly a high-pitched noise, feedback from somewhere on the stage, is right in his headphones which are still in his ears. Jughead hisses, taking the earbuds off quickly, his ears ringing a little.
“Shit.” He curses, wincing as he puts his fingers over his ear, trying to make the soft ringing stop. He looks around for the source until he feels a hand on his shoulder.
“Are you okay?” Betty asks him, looking intently at his ear. He feels the heat of her hand through his clothes, like a brand. Suddenly everything is in high definition as he meets her eyes for a second. Betty takes her hand from his shoulder and he winces again.
“Yeah, I’m okay, just caught me off-guard.” Jughead gives Trev a thumbs-up when he looks in his direction, giving him a reassuring smile. “How are you feeling about tonight?”
“Scared shitless.” Betty says, sighing. Jughead laughs, shocked that someone with such a soft and careful exterior would curse so freely.
“Yeah, exactly that.” Kevin says, looking at Betty with a smile.
“We’ve never done a crowd like this.” Betty adds. “I’m nervous.”
“Really? Well… I’m sure you’ll do just fine. I’ve seen you live, you’re mesmerizing. Thirty people or a thousand… you’ll still knock them out.” Jughead reassures her, smiling softly, silently admiring the way her eyes soften. Kevin clears his throat next to them and he looks at him. “You’re great too, Kev, but people are going to be in awe because of her… we’re just there to help them.”
The word sting more than they should at this point and Jughead stops for a second as soon as the words are out of his mouth. Betty is frowning at him, while Kevin simply nods like he’s contemplating his answer. She opens her mouth to talk.
“Guys, could you come over here?” Trev shouts at Betty and Kevin. Jughead can’t help but be relieved that he’ll be able to escape whatever she was about to unload on him.
“I’ll see you around.” Kevin says, walking off with a slight bounce in his step.
“Hey…” Betty says softly, bringing him back to the situation. He swallows the nerves that are rising. “From what little I’ve seen I can tell you’re a great musician, people don’t just go to watch the singer. Without our band, we wouldn’t be anywhere so…   yeah.” Betty finishes awkwardly, pursing her lips together and pointing behind her. “I’m needed over there. I’ll see you later, Jug.”
“Good luck.” He tells her, not knowing how to react exactly.
Jughead watches her go for a moment before heading to the dressing rooms. He rubs his eyes, trying to calm down, his heart is beating rapidly inside him. Jughead hates the effect this girl has over him. First that scene on the balcony now this… nobody has even gotten under his skin this quickly.
The way she knows exactly what to say to make his brain short-circuit and suddenly he’s re-evaluating his life choices. Jughead huffs to himself, trying to stop his brain from going somewhere he doesn’t want or need before a show.
“Jug, wait!” Archie shouts and Jughead honest to God breathes out in relief over the distraction. “You headed to the dressing room?”
“Yeah. Why?” Jughead asks, stopping to let his friend catch up with him.
“Nothing much, just wanted to talk to you about the melody we did back there. I loved it, think you can remember it?”
“Sure, it’s been roaming around in my head for a few days now. Let’s go.”
Jughead gets lost in the music and locks his feelings in a box deep inside his brain.
He’s sweating terribly after one hell of a first show but his heart is extremely full and he has the biggest smile on his face. The concert had gone without a hitch and he couldn’t be happier. It feels like coming home every time. His heart feels too big for his chest as he walks behind the stage, wiping the sweat off his forehead with his shirt.
“Hey…” Jughead is a little ashamed that he actually jumps a little at her voice, turning around quickly to face her. Betty is now dressed in some yoga pants and a hoodie, having changed after her – amazing – supporting concert.
“Oh, hey. Sorry I didn’t catch you after you played, everything was a bit chaotic. You guys were incredible.” He compliments, smiling at her. He moves, letting some roadies pass with a heavy box and he’s suddenly in front of her.
“Thank you.” Betty says, tucking her hair behind her ears. “You guys sound amazing live, I had never seen you. Just listened to your albums.”
“Well. Supporting show and seeing us live, what a night for you.” Jughead replies, wincing internally at his words. ‘What a night for you’ what are you, 10? He thinks to himself.
“Yes, I’m very lucky.” Betty tells him, pausing for a moment before continuing. “And I was right, you know…”
“About what?” Jughead asks, confused.
“I totally would’ve come to see you too, not just Archie. You were… mesmerizing as well.” Betty smiles at him, amusement in her eyes, the use of his wording not being lost on him.
“Thank you, Ma’am.” Jughead says, trying to alleviate the sudden pressure on his chest and the way the air seems heavier around them. He notices her eyes are greener than he initially thought, the way her cheeks are still a little pink from exertion and how she fists the sleeves of her hoodie in her hands. They stare at each other for a second before another roadie asking them kindly to move breaks the spell. “Uhm… I should go change…” he tells her, suddenly aware of his state.
“Oh, yeah, sure. I’ll go find Kevin.” She replies, taking a step back. Jughead does the same, he turns around to walk away before he stops and looks in her direction again.
“Hey Betty.” He calls her and she turns around. “We’re doing movie night later. Would you like to join us?” He asks her on a whim, registering the surprise in her eyes. “You can tell the others too…” he adds quickly, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
“Sure… sure, we’ll meet you there.” She says finally biting her lower lip.
Jughead nods at her before making his way to the dressing rooms, a flutter in his stomach that he tries to attribute to the post-show excitement and that totally has nothing to do with the interaction that took place seconds ago…
He fails.
