Everyone's always talking about VR games' creativity and what they 'add to the conversation' and I have never once seen anyone bring up the fact that a mid-range VR headset costs more than I paid for the computer I'm typing this on.

Like, I think it's kind of a pointless conversation to touch until the cost of the accessory required to play them comes down to, like, a reasonable accessory price.

#'reasonable accessory price' for me is under $80 #thats something i could reasonably be expected to save up for #and if they ever get to that price then i think we will see a lot more games #and conversations like 'what do they add to the conversation' will feel less relevant #you don't see people saying 'what do games that use controllers add to the conversation'#anyway yeah yeah yeah todd howard is trying to sell us skyrim 70 times but i actually do think its a good thing they made it work on vr #because theres this thing that happens with new tech #where people are like 'im not gonna buy it because there are no games for it'#and game devs are like 'im not gonna make a game for it because there are no players'#adding established games into the mix breaks the pattern #because quite a lot of people would like to play skyrim in vr #gets more players which gets more games #now of course none of that will happen until you can get a decent vr headset for under a hundred #i know someone out there is like 'well skyrim vr shouldnt cost $60' and they have a point #ideally it would just be a cheap upgrade to the skyrim you already own #but my point still stands
