One more thing is that in game, M.octezuma takes on a new and different name which is 'i.zcalli' and I think that in the context of a Grail war, he could go by that instead of being called 'avenger' to conceal his true identity

#;ooc #ooc #its been some time since i finished l.b7 so i have to re-read it to confirm whether this was the case or im going delusional but #since in the story he's brought back to have a second chance in life; he takes on a new name #i think that in his case; having a new name isnt only to conceal his identity but its like a barrier to him #we see how the first time he sees the protagonist and company; he mentions how the scar in hia forehead hurts #so not going by his true name of m.octezuma it helps him repress the memories of his past #we also see how he imposes on himself the title of t.ezcatlipoca (or well the future t.ezcatlipoca) and tries to follow it to a T #so in a way he's running from himself in a lot of ways #its the regret; the guilt; the despair;#he's willing to discard his own identity in order to change the course of history; to change how things ended; for this last second chance #its why the class of avenger does quite fit him in this context #its a man who's haunted by his past; by how things went; its that kind of servant #like how j.eanne alter cant forgive; like how d.antes is stuck in a period of his life; how s.alieri is cursed by the narrative created-#around his figure; etc etc #i think m.octe is interesting bc of this; he truly goes through extremes; he takes any and every step he can without an ounce of hesitation #its blind and its desperate and even when he faces the other t.ezcatlipoca; he ends up betraying himself; and even the god he is supposed-#to become and follow #he s.hoots him; he k.ills him; its the first time there is hesitation in him; just for a moment #anyways i say he coukd go by i.zcalli in a grail war but #considering its the context of the l.b what gives him that name; it would probably be something else on a different reality

#;m.octezuma II #i put his eye's look as in reference to his name's meaning 'he is the one who frowns like a lord'#maybe its all coincidence and im looking toomuch into it god knows #tezca is there mostly as ref to mocte's color palette consisting on mostly yellow and black #and if he is truly meant to be tezca's representation of earth in f.go's plot #there's also this lil fact; mocte had a room that was all pitch black meant for his times of meditation #i kinda doubt his color palette is a reference to the importance of this room to him and the serenity this color gives him but o k #a lot of the portraits and drawings that have been collected of him feature him wearing clothes that have this typeof knot #me thinks that the cloth tied around his waist is tied in a similar manner #the patterns on the edge are similar in an reverted way to the one of his cloak in ref 2 #then the collar area reminds me of the collars of aztec warriors #jaguar bc the ties with tezca and the importance of jaguars in general #did u know he had a zoo built when his reign was arround? they held mostly birds but there were a lot of other animals associated with #figures of gods #they were well fed and taken care of however this zoo latergot destroyed once he died #anyways its late BUT YEAH #;about #about #i kinda wanna do this with my ithert s.ervant muses 😳👉👈

ANYWAYS- I don't have much energy in general but I just wanted to drop by and say I had a thought in regards to the rather unique shape of the scar on his forehead in his fate design (which is a reference to the oftentimes more commonly known version of his story that recounts the motif of his death being by dying from his people throwing rocks at him which is the version f.ate seems to have followed) that it's not just there to represent this version of the story but could also be a reference to an iconographic pre-Hispanic attribute from Tezcatlipoca itself that is called the Ezpitzal, which is this:

(though in this piece, Tezca is shown under the guise of Tepeyollotl, it's still tezca) The Ezpitzal is often shown as a stream of blood that emanates from Tezcatlipoca's head. Professor Batalla pointed out that this term also relates to the Nahuatl concept of expressing anger

'it’s worth remembering that Tezcatlipoca was a god notorious for sowing discord and deceit'

So I just thought of how fitting it would be for M.octezuma to have this and how similar it looks to his scar (or well, how fitting it would be to a fictional stylized version of course) as M.octezuma's name is basically a compound of the noun 'lord' and the verb that means 'to frown in anger' which altogether gets interpreted as 'he who frowns like a lord' or 'he who is angry in a noble manner' and well, how this ties back to the Ezpitzal as a symbol that expresses anger

NOW IT COULD just be the shape of his scar and there's no deep meaning behind it but I still think it would be a nice little detail about his design if that was the case (if not then its just me overthinking symbolisms again), not to mention that even after the Spanish conquest took place and how as a consequence, a lot of characteristic traits and symbolisms were lost in regards to images, even then the Ezpitzal was still depicted (though barely there) with these protruding rounded edges
