ok ff16 thoughts since i finally finished it 70 hours later

"Keep your eyes closed for just a little longer…," Joshua whispers as he guides Mid. There is but an undeniable excitement in his voice and the way he takes her hand into his. Though she cannot see his face, she can discern the wide boyish grin that has engraved itself upon his features. A reflection of his uncontainable eagerness.

As their cautious steps get more distant by the minute, the air around them starts to shift, humming with echoes of a forgotten past. Murmurs of history which still lingers in its very stones. Upon reaching the entrance, Joshua pauses and releases his grip around Mid's hand, turning to face her. He wouldn't want to miss this for the world. The anticipation of her priceless reaction for such a grand revelation. "We've arrived. Now, open your eyes." Hovering his palm over the soft blue of light, the wall glows brightly as it recedes, unveiling the entrance of a Fallen Ruin. It may not be as vast nor advanced as the Sagespire yet it still boasts an extensive amount of salvageable materials and not to mention an almost complete scale of a Fallen airship. Joshua has already meticulously and diligently ensured their path was clear of any danger— be it goblins, and the echoes themselves. He simply wants this moment to be perfect for her.

"Well, what do you think? I could only hope this would be at par with your ever high expectations, my dearest brilliant engineer."

The truth is that Mid would follow Joshua anywhere. And when he asked her to come with her, he had this adorable excited smile on his lips. She couldn't know what he planned, of course, but she already knew she would be happy. Spending more time with him always feels like a gift. He's busy with his missions with Clive, of course, but he also always makes sure he can share some special moments with her, and it means so much to her.

She follows him, keeping her eyes close like Joshua has requested. She trusts him, anyway. She knows he's watching her steps, to make sure everything goes well. When he finally tells her she can open her eyes, Mid quickly does it. And she gasps before a huge remains on her lips. Of course she knows what this is. Maybe there's not that much information about the Fallen, but she has still read everything she could about them and she has even studied some rare Fallen materials.

Without a warning, she wraps her arms around Joshua and hugs him tight. When Joshua, Clive and Jill came back from the Sagespire, Mid was disappointed she wasn't at their side. She was excited to hear what they had to say about it, of course, but it still didn't feel the same as seeing it with her own eyes. And yet, Joshua has decided to bring her to a Fallen Ruin, too.

She keeps her arms around his neck, but moves her head so she could gently presses her lips against his. "I love you, Joshua. You're amazing!" she assures as she keeps her bright smile on her lips. "Thank you so much! You know, I didn't know I would get to see an actual Fallen Ruin because of all these monsters all over the place these days..." She lets go of him but quickly takes his hand again. She plans to hold his hand for the entire visit. "I'm sure I'll love it!" She laughs happily as she starts walking next to him. "When did you find out about this one ?" As she's speaking, she can't help but look around already, of course.
