The land of Kitakami is celebrating a successful apple harvest by holding a festival and, of course, Ogerpon has to join in on the fun as she skips along the apple orchard while holding a balloon and singing a song from her heart, looking as happy as a Spheal rolling down a hill!

If you're wondering where she got the balloon from, she saw it floating in the air at a balloon stall near the apple orchard. Curious, she approached the stall with a look of amazement and wonder in her eyes as she got closer and closer to both the stall and the balloon. There, the human running the balloon stall was handing out a balloon to a child after they purchased one from them when they saw Ogerpon staring at the Applin balloon from the corner of their eye. The balloon was floating high in the air near the stall, blowing around slightly in the wind as the balloon string that's tied to the balloon, keeps it anchored to the ground, preventing it from flying away. After the balloonist finished handing out the balloon to their customer, they went over to Ogerpon and asked her if she liked balloons. Ogerpon responds to the balloonist by jumping up and down happily with a big smile on her face, which indicates to them that she does indeed like balloons very much. Being a nice person, they pull the balloon string attached to the Applin balloon, lowering it down to where Ogerpon could see it better up close, and then offer her the balloon. Her face lights up as brightly as the sun as she happily accepts it and jumps up and down with pure joy. The balloonist then informs her to hold onto it tightly and not let go, otherwise it'll fly away. They then hand over the balloon to Ogerpon and then she goes "Pon Pon, Ogerpon!" as if she is saying "Thank you so much!" as she happily skips along on her merry way with the balloon in hand as the balloonist waves goodbye to her and then returns to work at their stall as a lot of customers begin to line up at the front of the stall.

I finished this drawing 2 days ago, but I just got around to posting it now due to 2 reasons. One) When I finished it, it was getting late, and two) I had some errands to run with Mom the following day, and then we went out later that evening to a local bar.

When it came time to draw Ogerpon, I went to Bulbapedia, as per usual, to download some images of the creature to use as references throughout the entire process. However, Bulbapedia was having problems with their site at the time and I couldn't access their usual image gallery for Ogerpon, or any Pokemon for that matter. So, I had to work with whatever images were available on Ogerpon's front page, which wasn't much. Even so, I was able to work with what I had access to and I love how this turned out! I also wanted to experiment a little bit when it came to the Applin balloon to see how it would look without a black outline, making it look a little more realistic. After sitting on it for a bit, I think it worked out well and it didn't clash with my art style like I originally thought it did when I first drew it. It really started to shine when I drew the environment, making me feel much better about this experiment.

Drawing Ogerpon, herself, wasn't too bad as I broke down each part of her into smaller pieces such as her face, her black-ish hood, the stem on top of her head, her chest, etc, etc. The pose I had for her was envisioned for quite a while, but shortly after I began drawing, I decided to change perspectives and have her face forward towards the camera rather than sideways, like I originally planned. The reason for this change was that I wanted the drawing to focus more on her than the environment she's skipping around in, which turned out a lot better than I expected. I also originally planned to give her a regular, round red balloon, but changed it to an Applin balloon because I thought it'd look cuter, which turned out to be true, in my opinion. As for the apple orchard, it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped as I wanted to keep it in spirit to the one found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. (At least the branches aren't going out for a nice float here, unlike the ones found in-game.) Regardless, though, it was still fun to put together and make the drawing feel that much more alive and complete. Overall, I had a lot of fun with this drawing and it was quite the challenge to complete as I didn't have access to as many references as I normally would due to technical difficulties on Bulbapedia's end. I haven't had a challenge like this since I drew Koraidon quite a while ago. It was worth the experience, regardless and I had a great time with this one! I am looking forward to drawing Ogerpon again in the future!

Happy Valentine's Day! Sadly, I won't be able to finish this fic right away. Instead, I'm splitting it into two parts. Hope you all enjoy it regardless!

The students of Blueberry Academy were a bit more lively than usual. Many of them were carrying pink & red boxes and balloons, while others toted bouquets and Pokémon plushies. Everyone was striding through the vibrantly decorated hallways with a hopeful gleam in their eyes (and a few with flushed cheeks). There was good reason everyone was acting this way today. It was that special day of the year when families, friends, and couples showed their love and appreciation for one another.

Yes, today was Valentine's Day, and one young lady in particular was determined to celebrate it in the best way possible. Juliana, the exchange student-turned-BB League Champion & League Club president, cradled a box of heart candies in her arms as if it was a newborn. Each individual piece had a romantic message printed on the front. As she strolled over to her first class, Juliana only had one person on individual. That person would be the recipient of her gift: her boyfriend, Kieran.

Despite only being together for a couple of months, the two of them were practically inseparable. Kieran was already so many things to Juliana. He was her closest confidant, her favorite battle partner, her sweetheart...and so much more. He deserved something extra special today. However, the heart candies weren't exactly the main gift she'd bestow upon him. They were merely a prelude to the main event.

The young champion hurried into the Pokemon Lore Studies classroom. The whiteboard had little doodles of various Pokemon symbolizing love, such as Luvdisc, Tandemaus, and even Applin (her personal favorite of the bunch). Students were still up and about, trading cards and candy. Well, not all of them. To her surprise, Kieran was already there, seated at his usual spot and scribbling on a piece of paper. His hair was tied back as usual (save for his bangs), and he sported the summer uniform just as he did when the two of them first met. She quietly took her seat and opened the candy box.

Kieran didn't even notice his girlfriend sitting next to him. He was too busy writing down a hundred different ways he could make her a very important request that had been on his mind for at least a few weeks. As he skimmed over the plans he had so far, he heard something sliding in his direction. Looking to his left, he saw Juliana smiling bashfully at him with a heart candy underneath her index finger. The phrase on the treat read "Kiss me?" in all caps.

To say Kieran was flustered would be quite the understatement. The very phrase he wanted to ask her had been thrown back in his face, and he hadn't prepared for this outcome. He was about to respond when he heard claps from the front of the room. The Pokemon Lore professor was already at her desk, sporting a pink cardigan and red beret as opposed to her usual orange and green ensemble.

"Hey, everyone! I know you're all excited to exchange gifts, but we should really start class now! Get to your seats, please!" The class followed her instructions, taking their seats and putting their gifts away for later. "Aw man..." With a defeated sigh, Kieran whispered "Let's talk about this later..." to Juliana, who nodded as she took out her laptop to take notes.

A bit of backstory:

Basil got Mikhael to leave his toxic home life and join the evil team. Mikhael enjoys his new life, and has started to look at Basil like an idol. He has a bit of a crush.

Basil sees them as friends and work colleagues. Mikhael hasn't made any moves cuz he's totally different from the cannon Maverick.

ii pokemon trainers AU

I originally wrote this AU late last year and I’ve only been fleshing it out and working on it again recently, thought i would post a summary of what i’ve written so far!! Would love to hear ideas from others :]

Lightbulb is competing in a pokemon league run by Mephone4 (secretly actually run by Steve Cobs) and is traveling with Paintbrush and Marshmallow. Later on they meet Fan and Testtube and they join the group

Paintbrush and Marshmallow are siblings in this AU, they’re neighbours and friends with Lightbulb

Testtube is a scientist who studies pokemon (i’m not sure on specifics yet sorry ^^’). Unsure if Fan is her assistant or if he’s just some guy the gang meet up with later

Marshmallow leaves the group later on to be with Bow and Apple

Haven’t really thought about this but Candle runs the Psychic Type Gym, Yin and Yang are her apprentices and they help her run the gym

Teacettle Normal Type Gym leader

Baseball, Nickle, Balloon, Soap, Microphone, Knife, Pickle, Taco, Kabby, Silverspoon, Bomb, Trophy, are also competing in the league

1. Wimpod. Friend-sized and perfect for holding, Evolves into a badass macho man.

2. Drifloon. I don’t care if the fucker eats my soul. I can and will hold its tiny little string arms and walk merrily down the street with it. Then, it evolves into an even bigger balloon. Sure, it may not fit places, but that’s what pokeballs are for.

3. Slowpoke. Dog but dumber. Doesn’t need to evolve, perfect as is. If it does, it either gets dumber or it gets smarter, which is a win-win.

4. Porygon/2/Z. Haha silly little duck program go brrrr

5. Applin. Small. Evolves into chonkey boy or cool dragon thing. Pick the chonkey boy 100% of the time.

thats a vague request, but i got a couple suggestions from my discord

which i ignored, because i thought of a couple better ones while my friends were typing

Pokemon that rely on mimicry. Ditto is the obvious choice, and Voltorb and Foongus both have a proud history of annoying the shit out of players. Sudowoodo goes down in history as the dumbest mimic to ever live, since the worst way to avoid water is to disguise yourself as something people feel compelled to pour water on. Zorua and Zoroark both have the Illusion ability, but I chose Zorua to represent the family specifically because of its disquieting habit of disguising itself as human children and replacing the originals. Mimikyu is my personal favorite on this list, and in the entire dex. All it wants is to be loved, and it’s actually a pretty funny nod to Pikachu’s overpopularity.

(Honorable mentions: Mew, Galarian Stunfisk, Applin, Sinistea, Castform)

Pokemon that are popular with families, but require more training than most people expect in order to negate danger. A lot of these are cute or simply common, which makes them frequent sights in urban areas and homes. Alolan Meowth is so insanely bratty that it throws fits if you don’t give it enough attention, and if you turn your back on Purrloin it’ll pick your pocket, though it’s so cute you’ll feel obligated to forgive it even though you’ll never see your shit again. Stufful made an appearance on my list of Pokemon that hate humanity with every cell of their body; it’s so cute that people feel compelled to invade its personal space and hug it, and when it evolves it tends to return the favor, with fatal results. Galarian Zigzagoon, unlike its more common Hoenn counterpart, sees red anytime anything enters its line of sight, and basically cannot be stopped from starting fights with anything and everything. Rockruff is popular with trainers, but shows its affection by rubbing up against you, cutting you with the rocks in its mane. Lycanroc in its Midday form is perfectly loyal, but its Midnight form doesn’t give a single fuck about what its trainer wants, especially if what its trainer wants is for it to stop killing that other Pokemon. And of course Drifloon is my favorite member of this list. The best part of my original post is people freaking out about Drifloon, which is an amalgam of human and Pokemon souls that have assumed the form of a balloon. It’s a cute Pokemon that people allow to hang around their kids, but the reason it sought out Timmy is because it intends to drag him away and add him to itself. Just because it’s not usually successful doesn’t mean you should get complacent, since Drifblim are plenty large enough to haul off an adult.

After a day of going through the last stretch of LM3 (I want to do another run--), I went ahead and cooked up a detailed history for each of her P/okemon :D

Though she was raised by Opal (who specializes in Fairy-type Pokemon), Plucky specializes more in Flying-types. None of them have nicknames.

✨ Togepi --> Togetic --> Togekiss: Her lead Pokemon/companion. As a Togepi, it was given to Plucky by Opal after she adopted Plucky. As Plucky got older, it evolved into Togetic, and soon after, Togekiss.

Plucky has Togekiss as her lead because not only is it the first ‘mon she ever had, it’s also because she wants to honor the one she sees as her true mother.

Togekiss has a habit of threatening to use Dazzling Gleam on those who make Plucky cry.

🐦Hoothoot --> Noctowl: Plucky was exploring the Wild Area with Togekiss when a Hoothoot popped out of nowhere and attacked them. The Hoothoot didn’t get KO’d, rather, it ended up following the two back home to Ballonlea, thus making Plucky let it join the team.

It evolved to Noctowl during a training session with one of Opal’s Pokemon. Noctowl tends to peck others to annoy them. Not just other Pokemon, humans too.

🐦Drifloon --> Drifblim: The Flying-type trainer heard rumors about ‘balloons that would spirit away children’. Heading out again into the Wild Area, she found said balloons, which turned out to be Drifloon! Because of her short height, a Drifloon mistook her for a child and tried to carry her, but alas, it was unable to.

With the Drifloon KO’d to even move, Plucky caught it anyway because she thought Drifloon was cute!

Drifloon evolved into Drifblim while it was trying to save Plucky from falling off a cliff. As a Drifblim, sometimes it picks up Plucky to ‘scare’ someone.

🐦Noibat --> Noivern: A Noibat was trying to get near Plucky and Togekiss (more specifically, the huge Berry basket they were carrying), however, Togekiss caught wind of this and attacked it. Plucky on the other hand, scolded it for attacking, and handed the Noibat a few Berries before heading home.

The Noibat showed up again at Plucky’s house, wanting more Berries. Plucky, without thinking, captured Noibat in the end. It evolved into Noivern while protecting Plucky from a Golurk in the Wild Area.

🐦Rookidee --> Corvisquire --> Corviknight: Plucky wanted to go look for one more Flying-type Pokemon, and figured that Rookidee was the best fit! Plucky tried to capture an actual Corviknight, but settled on raising a Rookidee to evolve into one. She figured that raising one is better than catching its final evolution in the wild.

🍎Applin: Gifted to her by an unknown sender. Opal knows what’s up (as in, she knows who gave it, she just doesn’t want to tell her own daughter to mess with her xD). It was at this point the Fairy-type leader pointed out that ‘someone must have a crush on you, dearie.’
