10) “I can’t imagine a life with you not in it.” [Helena]
@hp-helenaofwales
The night had not been a particularly exciting up to that point. There had been no grand romantic dinners, or wild parties earlier in the evening. Instead the Saturday night had been spent in with Edgar finishing some last minute edits for a shoot from earlier in the week, while Helena had been eating pasta and watching some movie on the television.
Ever since finding out they were expecting the pair had become more homebodies than before preferring to spend their time quietly rather than out like they had prior to the news. It didn’t bother Edgar, not at all, as long as Helena was there it did not matter to him whether they were on the couch or at the pub. After tucking away his laptop climbing into bed beside Helena, Edgar nearly missed the statement as he reached to turn off the bedside lamp.
“Hmm?” Edgar asked as the room went black around them. When repeated Edgar let the sentiment fall silently between the pair before reaching a hand out into the dark to find her across the bed. “Well I don’t think you’d be going to bed at ten on a Saturday if I wasn’t in your life” he told her with a chuckle, “unless you found some other wildly attractive man to get you pregnant, then maybe you’d still be going to bed early” he added a smirk oozing through his tone even in the darkness.
Securing a hand around her svelte shoulders, Edgar pulled Helena to him allowing his arms to snake around her form as he tucked her head under his chin. “You wouldn’t know any different if we weren’t together” Edgar told her thoughtfully, “I’m sure you’d be happy because you’d be oblivious to knowing anything else” he didn’t want to damper the sentiment but logically it made sense. “Therefore there’s no need to imagine because I am in your life, and I’m not going anywhere”.
The words hung full of unspoken promise between the pair. She already knew that, Edgar didn’t need to tell Helena that he was going no where. How could he leave after everything they’d been through? It had nothing to do with the pregnancy, like many would assume, and everything to do with the type of person Edgar Bones had become in the months after finding Helena. The type of man who was so unbelievably happy. A man who had traveled the world and knew that happiness this abounding could only be found right where he was right now. “So let’s not think of what life would be like without me tonight. Maybe save that thought when I forget to pick up milk next week and you want to ring my neck”.

When Simone had decided to head home she had made a mental list of the few stops she wanted to make before she went home for the rest of the day, But the first and by far most important one had to be checking on Allie. In her haste to leave with her parents a few days ago she hadn’t reached out to her sister-in-law, and had felt guilty for it every moment since. But whenever she opened her phone to type out a message she couldn’t figure out what to say. In person seemed the best option, even if seeing Thorfinn’s home would be hard on her. As she approached the door she just kept repeating to herself that being there was probably much harder on Alessandra. And Thorfinn would have wanted her to check in to see how Allie was holding up.
Taking a deep breath as Simone walked up to the door she paused for a moment, unsure of what to do. Should she knock? She never had before. Thorfinn had never minded her just popping in and inviting herself in, but he wasn’t there anymore. Would it be rude to still walk in? Simone stood out there for almost two minute’s debating in her mind what to do, but eventually decided to just go in. She didn’t want to inconvenience Allie by making her get up to answer the door. “Allie?” Stepping inside, she closed the door behind her and moved into the house trying not to let the lump already forming in her throat get to her. “Allie, are you here?”

🍸 if you could pick one person to spend the rest of your life with, who would it be?
Gus. Obviously. She’s person enough. Thorfinn might be alright but he’d whine about missing Alessandra too much. @ar-goddessofthunder @trowle-ing

It was funny how friendships started.
One moment you were practically strangers and the next you shared enough common interests to want to spend time with the other. They were about people connecting when they would have no reason to otherwise. How you could pass someone on the street one day and the next make a point to stop and chat. Human interaction was a funny thing and it seemed sometimes all it needed was a small nudge for two people to find they had a lot more in common than they first believed.
Or well that seemed the case for Gideon Prewett.
Just over a month ago Alessandra Rowle was just another pureblood. Someone that Gideon would say hello to in Diagon Alley but short of that he would have had no interaction with her. They were both former Ravenclaws and back in the day had been relatively friendly, but after graduation there had been no reason to keep up contact. It was the death of her late husband that had put them in contact once more. Gideon had sent her a message of condolences on OFN, the only means of contact he had with her these days, and asked where he could send flowers for the funeral. After a short back and forth Gideon had also sent a package her way with books and such to keep her busy, everyone would be sending flowers and she was a Ravenclaw after all.
It was a simple interaction of heartfelt condolences that had led the pair to strike up an unlikely friendship. They never spoke of her husband, there was no need to, instead Gideon was merely there to listen as she told him her thoughts on the books she was reading or anything really. Gideon understood what it was like to not want to focus on issues at hand and was more than glad to carry on conversations as if nothing special was happening in her life.
So today, finally, after some gentle prodding Gideon had gotten Alessandra to agree to meet him for coffee. It would be good for her to get out of the house and it was good for him to get out of the gym. Ever since his last break up Gideon had been less and less willing to go outside his normal routine of spending every waking minute at the gym. At the gym his mind was busy. At the gym Gideon didn’t need to do anything. Ultimately that wasn’t the healthiest of plans so this was a good change in pace for him.
Arriving to the cafe just a few minutes before 10, Gideon was surprised to see a familiar form walking up at the same time as him. “Being early must be a Ravenclaw thing” he teased as he reached for the door, grabbing it for her, “I can’t remember the last time I grabbed coffee and I wasn’t waiting for fifteen minutes for someone to arrive”.

Lunch Date | Lily & Allie
@ar-goddessofthunder
The kindness of some people really astounded Lily Evans sometimes. It seemed in a world where everyone as so eager to get ahead that little acts of kindness were a lost art. However it was not dead as every once in a while Lily would see little glimmers of hope in a passerby or even her own friends. This was one of those occasions as Lily flipped through the book that had just arrived at her flat. It was a book of charms all relating to clothing and the proper way to handle many different situations. There were charms on how to get stains out of shirts and how to adjust the hem on a dress, all things that Lily knew very well how to do by hand but had absolutely no clue could be done using magic. It should have been obvious to Lily that if magic could move objects, lock doors, and even kill people it would also be able to be used for practical things like fixing broken zippers. To a muggleborn like Lily, however, this was all new and exciting and she felt very much the same as when she entered a new course at Hogwarts; eager to learn.
The book had also been inscribed with a note telling Lily it had been through the kindness of Allie Rowle that she had been gifted this book. They had met at the gala and spoken about the book however Lily had never actually expected her to go out of her way and send her a copy, and immediately had called her to thank her and to ask her to go to lunch. Allie was a pureblood, yes, but so was Marlene and Narcissa and as of right now Lily had no issues with Allie, so why would she not want to see her? There were only a few purebloods that had ever truly been nasty to her so it was wrong for Lily to feel anything but appreciation towards someone who extended such kindness. So that was how Lily had landed herself sitting at a table by the window at a cafe in Diagon Alley.

✮ = stargazing
Thorfinn had never been one for Astrology or Astronomy. He found it a waste of time to look up to the heavens. It was just big balls of burning gas up there. Science had explained the movement of the planets and the changing of the stars. They were part of the galaxy, but not a part of his life, and they certainly didn’t control it.
But they were at least pretty to look at.
He knew that girls liked these sorts of things. Romantic gestures. He didn’t go out of his way to make them often…mostly because he didn’t need to in order to get into a girl’s favour. But this girl, well she played so hot and cold with him he didn’t know what to expect half the time. And masochist that he was, he liked it.  He at least liked the challenge of her. And of knowing that in the end, she would be his anyway.
She was mad at him again (rightly or wrongly so, it didn’t matter).  Thorfinn knew that in order to make up, he had to do something nice, and something big. He had to make a gesture.  Of course his 16 year old mind had thought of this. Nothing more romantic than sneaking out at night to the top of the Astronomy Tower for some star gazing.
He had laid out the blankets and pillows already. Thorfinn had come prepared. He hadn’t wanted her to turn around and walk away thinking he intended for her to sit on the cold cobblestones. He even had some mulled wine that he had managed to sneak from the kitchens. Now all he needed was her.
Thorfinn waited. And waited. He was beginning to worry that she wasn’t going to come. And it would be just like her. She liked to do what he did not expect, punish him for his perceived trespasses. (Okay, real trespasses). Not showing up when he had sent her a note asking her to would be precisely what he deserved.
The wind chilled him and his ardour, although he was kept warm by his annoyance. Still, it was quiet enough that he could hear the footsteps coming up the steps. Perking up, Thorfinn raised himself to a sitting position, one knee bent, his arm draped over it. If it wasn’t her, well he was in for it anyway, so there was no point in hiding.
It was her.
“This had better be important, Rowle,” Alessandra grumbled as she appeared on the tower’s roof, arms around herself against the cold. Her eyes widened when she took in the little nest he had made for them. “What-what is this?” she asked.
Thorfinn got to his feet and took her hands, pulling Alessandra over. “It’s an apology. Sit with me?” He looked at her earnestly, taken in again by her beauty in the moonlight. He kept his expression in place as her eyes searched his face, looking for some ulterior motive, some hint that this was all a prank.
“I just wanted to do something nice for you,” he said, a little sheepishly. “And the stars look really nice tonight.”
Alessandra kept him in suspense a few moments longer before a tender smile slipped over her lips. “All right then,” she said simply, and sat, folding herself gracefully onto the blankets and pillows he had laid out.
“All right then,” Thorfinn grinned goofily, dropping down next to her. His smile grew when she didn’t object to his arm sliding around her.
“The stars aren’t the only beautiful thing tonight,” he added quietly, looking up at the sky.

Gus keeps looking about the house like she is trying to find something. I’m wondering if she isn’t a little lonely now that she’s spent time with other dogs. Do you think I should pick up a friend for her?
