Aris! <3
May I please humbly request a Dungeon Master-y Tango? Perhaps tangled in redstone noodles or potentially lasso-ing a (potentially off-screen) ravager or warden or something? Just DM Tango being silly, perhaps?
<3, WatcherAurora (Rora) (can't send asks from a sideblog unfortunately)

You had me at ālassoing ravagerā :D !
@watcheraurora this was a super fun request to start with, and it really helped break me out of my art block!
(And this was very difficult to keep as a sketch. I just wanted to render the whole time XD. I may come back to this one later and render it on a bigger canvas)

Hey! I just want to thank you for making the Simblorbo Bracket!! It has been a lot of fun! I hope there will be more brackets in the future š§”
And thank you for participating! It's been so much fun to see everyone's sims and get to know them a little through their little propaganda blurbs ā„
I'd definitely like to run the sexyman bracket at least once a year, but I've got a small handful of ideas for other intermediate brackets, too >:3c

Ooooh!!!! This is so cool, and mineās gonna be a pretty long answer >:D
When I was ten years old, I added a new plot line to a fictional world I had been building since I was 5, and in this new plot line, there was a character who was basically a self insert, and I named her Aris. Iād seen the name in a book series I read around that time (I think it might have been The Maze Runner), and I had no attachment to whatever character it came from, but the name just stuck in my brain, so I used it.
A couple years later, I needed an email address, and my family has this convention where we use a moniker rather than our real name, so I needed a name to use with it. Aris was not my favorite oc at the time, but it just made so much sense to use that name, so I did.
When I was 13, I got my first social media: Pinterest. This was where I saw my first Tumblr posts, and I ended up seeing an old post about cool words. One of those words was āParacosmā which is a fictional world one has obsessively worked on since childhood. I *definitely* had one of those, so paracosm became one of my favorite words.
In the meantime, Aris evolved from being just a character in the world to being the worldās god, a chaos god at that. Sheās been fragmented at times, and sheās almost always an antagonist at this point, but sheās present in every single story that takes place in my paracosm. (Which is 16, almost 17 years old now! My paracosm could get its drivers license XD)
When I was 17, I finally got my next social media: Instagram. And I needed a username for that. I had one planned out from the start that I was going to use as a pseudonym for all my stories: Arisās Paracosm. It was great and I was really attached to it. But then, I learned that Instagram doesnāt allow apostrophes in usernames! Dangit! So then I lengthened the name a little bit and added underscores so it would be Aris_Has_A_Paracosm. And Iām so glad that happened. The username just rolls off the tongue and it is so quintessentially, undeniably me. And I have used that username for every single thing that requires a username since.
What the name Aris actually means: the shortened form of the name Aristotle, an alternate spelling/pronunciation of Ares god of war, and an alternate spelling of Eris goddess of discord (pronounced exactly the same as Eris).
At this point, Aris is not just an online name or moniker for me. It is my name just as much as my legal one is, and I respond to both. I tend to joke that Aris is my writer/artist alter ego while [legal name] is my scientific professional side, but Iām hoping to fully bridge the gap between those two sides of my life and just have both names equal me overall since I adore and use both names.
Anyway, thatās the origin of Aris-Has-A-Paracosm! :D
@sincerely-nines , @maggymations , @watcheraurora , @abeterger and anyone else who wants to!

Tag your moots and ask them where they got the idea for their tumblr accounts name!
For my name it was a nickname I was giving back in middleschool! One of our teacher had a system where we worked with 'wifi' eachtime we talked in class we lost a bar of the "wifi" (was a weird joke and we never held count on that) All the kids usually joked if they needed 'wifi' , they would borrow mine if they wanted to talk more. (I was incredibly shy in middle school, I only talked to like 3 people at school;^;)
They called me Ms. Wifi because of that. I just thought it would be funny if I put 'miss' instead of 'ms' because of my terrible actual wifi connection I have at home lol.
That's my story! Now moots, only if you guys want to, tell us your story.

Hi hello for the artist wrapped, could you answer 10 and 25? š
10: What inspired/motivated you this year:
Definitely Tango in general! I got slammed with the Hyperfixation Hammer at the start of March, and heās been living in my brain rent free ever since. CcTango is just so incredibly entertaining and I relate to him a lot as a person, and CTango is really fun and *also* someone I relate to but for different reasons.
As well as Tango, Iāve also been really inspired by other artists and writers in this fandom, and I am beyond happy to have befriended some of them! In particular, Iām really inspired by the Hels to Pay au by Aquaquadrant and Lunarcrown, and literally everything that @watcheraurora (hi Rora! :D) has written this year! Such incredible writers and artists who Iām sooo glad to have stumbled across! <333
But by far, my biggest inspiration/motivator this year has been every single person who has shown love and support for my work, especially you, Jam! All of your comments and asks and excited ramblings about FinFault only add fuel to the fire, and I am so so happy that youāre here! <333
25. Favorite work youāve created this year:
My favorite is Finalityās Fault in its entirety, and Iām constantly spinning it around in my brain, but thatās a big project with multiple art works as well as the main fic, so Iām not counting it for this.
In terms of specific art pieces, it has to be the Deepfrost fanart for Roraās Ice Walls au!
Iām pretty sure most of you have seen it already, but here it is again bc I love it so much:

18. Work you go back to admire the most:
Definitely the FinFault Chapter 1 art! Itās my phoneās home screen, so I see it every time I use my phone.
Itās been months since Iāve drawn it at this point, and there are a few things I can see to improve upon if I were to redraw it at some point, but I still love the composition a lot as well as the lighting. Iāve got the dual light source from the overhead yellow light and the green outlet lights (technically three light sources, but Tangoās visor doesnāt really illuminate anything).
Hereās the lineart and the final side by side since I donāt think Iāve shown the lineart before:

(I might try redrawing this for the 1 year FinFault anniversary if I have the time to do so this May :3)

What's your favorite part about finfault? And what has been your favorite scene so far?
And can we get a tiny tiny spoiler? I am always brimming with excitement for a new chapter and your art!!!
Ooh! Fantastic questions, anon, and your excitement makes me so happy! :D <3
My favorite part of FinFault definitely has to be the intrigue that I've woven into the plot. There are a lot of moving parts to this story, and somehow I have the entire thing planned out better than any of my oc stories I've written before. There are approximately 20 characters of major importance to the plot, and ~40k words in, we've only officially met 4 of them. (By major importance, I mean contributing to the plot. The Ranchers are definitely the main focus compared to everyone else.) There are plenty of twists and turns and Situations that they'll be getting into, and I'm so excited to continue "weaving this tapestry" of a story!
I've also really enjoyed getting to explore the general psychology of why Tango acts the way he does in this au and how his prior experiences affect the way he goes about his life in the present day. He's definitely a guarded guy with a lot of unresolved traumas, but Jimmy's already beginning to get around his barriers. ;)
In terms of my favorite scene so far, I absolutely love the scene in Chapter 5 when Etho tests Jimmy's data chips. It's the perfect amount of tense and informative, and it serves as a great catalyst for Tango to start valuing Jimmy beyond his use as an android. I also really love the scene in Chapter 4 when Tango forgets that robots don't eat and then loses his mind laughing after giving Jimmy soup on accident. (I'd love to know your favorite scene if you have one, anon! :D)
My actual favorite scene is going to be when Tango decides to [REDACTED] because [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], and it's going to be so cathartic! It's a scene I've had planned since April, and I don't expect to reach it until maybe 15-20 chapters from now, so there's a wait for sure, but I'll get there! >:D
And here is your tiny tiny spoiler! ;3
Etho has a huge secret of his own that he is working very hard to protect.

Hi, FinFault has inspired me to finally tackle a fic idea that I've had for a while! I've never been really good at planning out grand stories but the way your fic plays out and the way you seem to have it planned out really make me want to improve in that regard!
I wanted to ask if you'd be comfortable sharing how you plan your fic out? Do you write a broad overview? Or do something entirely different? No pressure to share though I am just super curious how you do it as I stumble through this myself :D
I love this ask! This is one I really wanted to spend some time thinking about, so after much thought, here's my planning process sort of in the format of "rules" I set for myself while planning stories. I apply this to any long-form story I write, but I will be using the example of FinFault specifically, as well as the plot structure I use:
Always know how your story ends before you even start writing it, and always keep a basic plot structure that you want to follow in mind, but don't restrict yourself in your plot points. I first got the idea that would become Finality's Fault back in mid-April of 2024. My brain gave me a basic premise and a scene to go with it. I then spun those around in my brain for almost a month. By the end of that time, it wasn't quite the same as my original premise, but I had a four act structure with a beginning, midpoint, climax, and end. At the time, I did not know exactly how the ending would happen, but I knew what the ending was, which was good enough of a foundation to build on/build towards. (I later formulated exactly how the ending would happen, around September I think, but because of my pre-established foundation with what it was, I wouldn't need to alter anything about what I'd written and dropped thus far.) All of my other plot points are similar. I have planned events to work towards, but the tiny details of those events don't need to be set in stone before you reach them.
The FinFault plot structure that I use (these differ from story to story, but this is my structure as a reference of how you can use structures): Act I: the Ranchers meet and get to know each other. Site 09 and general premise of the miasma is established. This is purely introductory. Chapter 10 will likely (hopefully) be the last Act I chapter if my word count estimate is correct for the next plot point -> Act II: now that we've established everything, the scope is expanded, new characters and information are introduced, and the Ranchers further develop their relationship -> Act III: new, pivotal information is introduced, but no new characters. This is The Big Turning Point, but I can't elaborate any further on that without spoilers -> Act IV: the pivotal information is acted on, and in combination with everything gained in the previous three acts, the story is wrapped up and concluded.
It's a good idea to keep at least one (if not more) planning document along with your drafting document. Some people will keep everything on one document, and if that works for you, then do that, but that is not viable for me. These are all the documents I use for FinFault alone: (1) planning doc -- all my plot points and chapter titles are in here in bulleted lists as well as important information (such as cyborg ID numbers and which organ each lost and when) I want to keep track of. This is the equivalent of DM notes in DND. (2) Working draft -- This doc is the first draft of every chapter together. This is the only doc that I keep in Times New Roman size 12 font. I also refer to this one as the "typing doc," and I edit absolutely nothing here. (3) Beta read doc -- after I finish each chapter in the working doc, I copy-paste it here, where my beta reader adds her comments. She and I will have full conversations in these comments, but again, there is absolutely zero editing here. (4) Final Formatting -- At the same time as copy pasting a chapter for the beta doc, I also copy paste the chapter to a new, separate doc, where I immediately reformat it as Verdana size 10 font, which is what Ao3 uses. Here is where all of the editing happens, and is my favorite part of each chapter. I will spend hours upon hours editing, and sometimes, certain scenes end up completely unrecognizable from the first draft. (5) Final Compiled -- once I deem a chapter as completely done, I copy paste it into here, where all of the final draft chapters are. The word count of this is almost 10k words longer than the first draft doc (just to show how much difference the editing makes), and the main purpose of it is so I can easily find things if Ao3 happens to be down. (6) Colored Dialogue Final Compiled -- This is the same as #5, but with the dialogue of every character highlighted to a person-specific color (Tango's is red, Jimmy's is blue, etc.). This is so I can keep track of exactly what everyone says, which is crucial for such a lore-heavy fic as this. (7) Deleted scenes -- and finally, we have the deleted scenes doc, which is where I put everything that didn't work. I technically don't need this one, but I like keeping track of what did work and what didn't. So that is 7 documents relating to one chapter. For nine chapters so far, that is 15 documents, with one being added for each and every new chapter. It's a system that works very well for me, and I love using it.
When creating something that does not exist in real life or other media, you can literally make up whatever you want about it, but you MUST adhere to the rules you make in order for it to be believable. Using the miasma as an example: it's a substance that does not exist plain and simple. I reference real scientific concepts with it, but it is 100% my own creation. However, I have flat out stated that solid-state miasma moves fast and with a specific flow pattern on metal. Therefore, now that I have stated that in a finished chapter that others have read, I can never go back on that or describe it in a different way unless I have a very specific reason to do so that will make sense to the narrative.
Try not to retroactively change things if you drop your story chapter by chapter before the whole thing is written. This applies more to my writing style, where I write each chapter, drop each chapter, and then write the next. If you're writing your entire story at once before anyone else sees it, go back and change as much as you want. Of course, this does not apply to misinformation within the plot itself. If a character believes a thing, but that thing isn't true, then that's fine. Don't beat yourself up if you miss something you already included, since everyone is human, but do put an active effort in making sure you're being consistent with what information you tell your readers.
There is no such thing as a consequence-free action. Try to consider human psychology as much as you can. Your characters don't exist in a vacuum of plot points, so they will always need to process previous events even if they're facing current events. If your plot is so fast paced that the characters have no time to think between events, give them the time (and wordcount) to process and deal with the aftermath at an appropriate time later. If an event is momentous enough, your characters will very likely be facing the aftermath or at least referencing said event for the rest of the story. For example, the second half of Chapter 9 is something I only included because Tango and Jimmy could not continue with the plot until they talked about the events of Chapter 8. It wouldn't have been believable at all for both of them to immediately move on and not think about those past events at all.
Get a beta reader if you can, or at least a trusted person you can bounce ideas off of. My beta reader is my best friend and roommate, and I don't know what I would do without her. She has suggested some great fixes to plot holes I used to have, and at times, just the act of talking to her and saying my ideas aloud is enough to help me figure them out myself.
Never ever ever rush yourself. Self-imposed deadlines can be a good motivator, but if you're not satisfied with a scene and need more time to think/edit, don't force yourself to meet that imaginary deadline. Remember that at the end of the day, fic writing is for fun and for yourself. If you're not happy with what you're doing with your own creative project, then don't force yourself through it.
I know this is cliche, but the most important "rule" is to have fun! If your project is something you genuinely love spending time with, it will make your whole life that much more enjoyable. For me at least, Finality's Fault absolutely brightened my year and made 2024 the best year I've had since 2019.
Best of luck to you and your fic! I'm happy to elaborate further on some of these points, and I'd love to experience your story when you're ready to share it! :D <3

how about 4. what styles/mediums did you work with? (i know most/all of the things you post are digital but maybe your writing with different styles and mediums off tumblr???)
and 13. what thing gave you the most trouble?
4. Styles and Mediums!
When I first started on Tumblr earlier in the year, I had a style that was very lineart heavy with thick lineart, and the lineart was always colored. As well as that, I leaned into the cell shading with either cell or soft lighting depending on what kind of lighting I was going for. Now, towards the end of the year, I still color my lineart, but not as carefully, and part of that has to do with the brush I use now being much much thinner and more textured. My shading has also altered to be a soft/cell mix with more texture in there too. The overall sketch style and proportion style didnāt change much, but the lineart and shading did, and Iām very pleased with that. (Hereās two Ethos to demonstrate):

Now on to mediums! Iām just gonna list them as I remember them and comment when needed:
-digital art
-traditional marker drawings (in terms of traditional, ink is my forte)
-sewing (something Iāve never mentioned on Tumblr before: I do local craft fairs where I live, and I sell all sorts of handmade bags and plushes. Iāve never sold stuff online before, but itās a possibility for the future)
-oil paintings (I took a class at my college back in spring. Hereās an orange, a butter knife, and a glass of water I had to paint for an assignment:)

-charcoal drawings
-fictional prose
-the occasional poem
-lab reports and academic writing (I spent time on it, so Iām counting it hehehe)
-Iāve also done gouache paintings and sculptures before, but none this year
13. What gave you the most trouble:
Tangoās hair!!!!! His hair is so difficult!!!!! I am slowly but surely learning how to master drawing it, but in all my art timelapses from early in the year, about half the timelapse is me redrawing his hair over and over again XD

For FinFault,
14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?
š, WatcherAurora :) (also what do you mean my fics were part of what started to inspire you to write?! What? I'm so honored and flattered! *heart eyes*)
14. Although Finality's Fault is nowhere near done (36k words and not even close to a quarter of the way through. Oh wow this is gonna be a journey!), by far the biggest thing I'm wanting readers to get from the story I'm telling is this:
There will always always always be a reason to keep living, no matter what horrible things life throws at you. The world is better with you in it, and it's okay to hate your situation, but please keep living.
It's fitting for an au set in a dystopian/apocalyptic environment to be bleak at times, and the Ranchers are gonna end up going through a lot, but it's not all going to be constant doom and gloom, and I want that little flicker of hope to be evident throughout.
15. The biggest thing I've learned through this is how to let go of my first draft perfectionism. For my previous oc stories, I would spend hours on a single sentence sometimes. But with FinFault, I've discovered that I actually love editing even more than I love writing. So I'll write until a chapter has everything I want it to include (three or four days of off and on work for about 5k words), I let it sit for a few days, and then I come back and spend about the same amount of time editing it. And the whole process is so much more efficient, and I end up with something that I like way more than if I'd tried to get it perfect the first time.
And yes, Rora, you were indeed one of the reasons I started writing fic! I've been writing oc stories for almost a decade now (longest one was 88k), but as much as I loved reading fic, I was too scared to write it myself. I was terrified that I was going to mess up the characterization of someone else's character if I tried. I had ideas, but I'd never try them. But reading your Ice Walls au and Aquaquadrant's From Eden made it really click in my brain that there's multiple different ways to write a character and none of those ways are "wrong." The way you write Tango is very different from how Aqua writes Tango and both of those ways are different from how I write Tango, which are all different from how other writers write Tango. But they're all Tango. And they're all effectively a love letter to c!Tango, whom we were each inspired by to create art in different ways. And I love that. I love that so much, and I'm no longer scared to tell the stories I want to tell even if the characters I'm writing about aren't "mine" per se. So thank you for being part of the reason I've discovered my love for this art form! :D <3
#FinFault au#Aris Paracosm answers#(I don't get many asks so we'll see if I'll need to expand my ask tags later :))#Thank you for the ask Rora! I appreciate you so much!! <333

i had a dream the other night that you posted chapter 15 of FinFault and dream-me got so excited to read it before i had a moment of clarity and remembered that only 8 chapters are out and got sad š
anyway keep up the fantastic work and take care of yourself! hydrate or diedrate
Oh my goodness, this is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming! On one hand, I too wish there were 15 chapters out by now given how excited I am about telling this story, and Iām sad too that there arenāt that many, but I can say that CH9 is in full swing and should be out relatively soon! (and itās going to be the first chapter so far to feature a flashback ;))
On the other hand, Iām honored that my fic weaseled its way into your brain so much that you dreamt about it. That is amazing!
And thank you for the compliments and encouragement!! That means a lot! <333

uhhh hi i just found your fic finality's fault and i can't stop thinking about it. what happens to my boys, i need to know /nf
Hello and welcome, anon! :D It makes me very happy to see that you enjoy FinFault so much!
I canāt give any specifics on whatās going to happen to the Ranchers throughout the story, but I do have the fic tagged as āhopeful endingā and intend on keeping it as such, or even āhappy endingā if things continue to go to plan ;)
This ask is actually a really good opportunity for me to elaborate on the overall timeline for Finalityās Fault:
I divide this story up into four āacts. We are currently midway through Act I, which will conclude with everything that happens at Annual Maintenance. We have either one or two chapters until AM depending on the word count of what happens between Ch8 and then (I tend to underestimate how many words Iāll need to give the right kind of weight that Iām wanting to plot events), and AM itself is probably going to happen over the course of three chapters.
Iām not going to give any plot details currently on the other three acts, but I will say that Act II is the longest, Act III is the shortest (as well as where my favorite planned scene happens), and Act IV will likely be somewhere around the length of Act I if not a little longer.
Although I definitely have space for wiggle room with my plot points, Iāve known every major event as well as how this story ends since May, and I am so incredibly excited to continue on with this journey until I finish it! It may take a while, but Iām not going anywhere! :D
Thank you for the ask, anon! <3
