Ok but I really like that there's like so many eras of Philip Wittebane and fans of him get a attached to specific ones and it's just so sweet and fun to see.

I love seeing kid Philip with Caleb and how different people portray their upbringing as orphans in the 1600s. I love seeing Philip as a young man coping with his brother's absence and how different fans interpret him navigating the isles. I love seeing beard Philip and how fans interpret his confrontation with Caleb and his spiral into depression and madness. I love seeing Preacher Belos and how fans interpret his interactions with the first grimwalkers and how he slowly conquered the isles. I ADORE present old man emperor and how utterly insane he is and everything he's done is finally coming back to haunt him.

He's falling apart and maybe he feels guilt, maybe he's actually having delusions, maybe he really thinks he's the hero and Caleb's soul can still be saved, maybe he's lying to everyone including himself, maybe he's gone through so much pain and suffering that accepting that he didnt have to go through all that is too much to bear so he has to keep believing his own lie.

This character is so fun and complex and everyone interprets him differently to the point anyone can see and point out a thing that no one has ever even noticed before and I think that is so beautiful.
