Learning forms from creativeformsketching.blogspot…. For this exercise, I'm not applying perspective as the goal for this practice is to understand how to combine simple form to create complex ones. I plan to apply perspective in later exercises when I switch the "draw-a-box" exercises.

Drawing from life is so important as an artist. That slight adjustment one can make from your vantage point, enabling you to understand the modularity of your model, can make all the difference. Friday I had students and faculty bring in animals. A time for a little drawing but a lot of observation...and that is also good!!! #lifedrawing #animals #animaldrawing #arteducation #artlessons #artcurriculum #observationalsrawing #warsawhighschool #warsawtigers #warsawindiana #winonalakein #indianaeducation (at Warsaw Community High School) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2KL5IGjfqP/?igshid=1cpdavp8qc0hs

Honey Rock Camp Arts & Crafts curriculum | Three Lakes, WI 2012
The Arts and Crafts program at HoneyRock camp is set apart and dedicated to growing and learning through art-making so that both the student and, through that student, the community may be blessed and enriched. By means of art historically infused experiential lessons, involvement in communal and individual art-making, and disciplined reflection each student participating in the arts and crafts program will develop skills and knowledge of art techniques and the creative process, will develop communication skills and will be given opportunities to apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways.
The curriculum was composed of 10 lesson plans, each centered around a specific technique or medium. These included:
Color
Leatherworking
Movement
Woodworking/Sculpture
Texture and Pattern
Earthworks
Paper
Fiber Arts
Through participation in this program students gain experiential knowledge of multiple art methods, the creative process, and the value of art making as well as gain skills and confidence to advance in their roles as community members and culture creators.
How does this program teach students an art skill?
The students participate in daily lessons in which they are taught art skills specific to the daily theme. The lesson will include a group exercise and a basic level project in which the students can practice these skills.
How does it teach them academic knowledge or skills?
The daily lesson includes a mini lecture portion in which the students will be introduced to the art history of the themed medium of the day. For each project the student creates, he or she will practice critical thinking and disciplined reflection as they compose artist statements. As obstacles arise in the creative process, students will learn and practice methods of creative problem solving.
How does the program encourage students to grow socially?
Each session will begin with an introductory activity/ritual in which the students must tune into the group dynamic. Group exercises will necessitate collaboration between students challenging them to work together.
How does this program challenge the students to think about the big questions of life?
This program gives kids a chance to work through questions in a non-verbal, non-linear, non-narrative (and thus more ambiguous) way that should prove helpful for understanding the mysteries and majesty of the world. Artworks and art-making will provide the students with endless metaphors for transcendent concepts. The things they create serve as temporal vehicles for the transcendent concepts they are processing through. Thus, as they become involved in the creative process, they can come to a greater understanding of the big questions of life and their roles in relation to them.

5-10 min practice: breaking objects in simple shapes. Some where a miss but I learn a lot from this practice.

What I've learned: Once shapes and forms become recognizable and understood them, they can easily be rotated, twisted and bend as you imagine them so that with any combination of form and shape, most objects can be drawn without reference. Knowing how to draw the basic shapes and forms also allows for the breakdown of the big picture and avoid the distraction of the smaller details of the subject in the drawing.
Shapes are in the area in which the drawing takes up:
· Shape is in the outlines/contours of the subject
· Shapes are in the negative and positive space of the drawing (subject and background).
· Shapes are in of light and shadows of the subject.
· Shapes are in the features of the subject

Relearning the Fundamentals Series: Lines Pt1
What I’ve learn while practicing:
Good line quality requires clarity, confidence and consistency
Avoid the “chicken scratches”
When drawing lines, try to look a little bit ahead of the line. Do not focus on your hand or on the point of the pencil/pen.
When drawing straight lines, keep your wrist steady when sliding across the paper.
Ghost your lines
