I'll be at the St. Cloud Art Crawl (presented by CMAB) on June 16th, from 16:00-20:00 (4pm-8pm). It will be located at Falcon National Bank in St. Cloud, MN. I'm hoping to have some new skincare and craft products ready to launch by then! Some prints, as well. 👀 I'm pretty hyped because it's been a minute since I've been out & about for events. 😅🤸🏻

The Council

This was the first of three pieces displayed for my balloon art exhibition, MESSENGERS. The show highlighted three mysterious bringers of truth and wisdom whose motives are meant to be viewed through a critical lens.

The Council was the first centerpiece seen by the viewer, and the one the most connected with the dark forest scenery. It incorporates fairytale elements; a lone maiden, a gold coin payment, and magical forest critters. The messenger here is The Owl King, inspired by imagery of the demon Stolas. He demands payment in the form of gold coins stashed in a tree hollow, a space where I could add an interesting lighting element to the scene. The necessity of payment here calls for skepticism. With material gain comes ulterior motives.

The shadow animals inhabiting the scene add to the mystery. Do they stand in judgment? Are they concerned for the maiden? Are they former recipients of the owl king’s wisdom? Their monochrome visages supply a blank canvas for the audience to project their feelings onto.
