"Spiral Theme", a sculpture by Naum Gabo, is a remarkable work of art created in 1941. Constructed from plastics, namely cellulose acetate and polymethyl methacrylate, the sculpture's transparent planes build upon each other, suggesting a sense of growth and emergence. This reflects Gabo's belief that art can challenge perceptions and offer new ways of viewing the world. The piece, now housed in the Tate collection, was widely acclaimed when displayed in London during the war. Created amidst a time of intense global conflict and personal concern for Gabo, "Spiral Theme" stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Despite the threat of German invasions in the UK and Russia, Gabo found solace in the Cornish coastline, collecting shells that may have influenced the spiral form of the sculpture. We are drawn to "Spiral Theme" for its innovative use of materials, dynamic form, and its embodiment of Gabo's transformative artistic philosophy, serving as a symbol of hope and creativity in times of adversity. #gabo #constructivism #naumgabo #modernart #fineart #modernabstract #collecteurs #conceptualism #art #sculpture #artist #artwork #contemporaryart #artlovers #originalart #artworld #artpiece #artfeature #artinfo #artdiscover #artinspo #artfollowers #beautiful #creative #artislife #artobject #greatart

ART From Russia With Love of Adventure
… it is not easy to like the art of David Burliuk. Understanding it requires appreciable time and a good deal of patience and energy. His paintings are not attractive in the conventional sense. In fact, those who prefer prettiness in their art might find his work arrantly ugly. The colors can be frustratingly muddy and grimly dark. Some compositions seem fussy and others are rough and often puzzling, teeming with a superabundance of pictorial activity and heavy, brazen surfaces.
Burliuk was an irrepressible experimenter all his life, especially in his early years when he spearheaded the Futurist movement in his native Russia. He also fruitfully explored a variety of Expressionist techniques and went on to do fascinating things with Surrealist painting.
Some of the early paintings include powerful geometric abstractions painted with a lusty palette, but most of Burliuk's art celebrated the figurative within an abstract framework.

Art Info Land
I found this website on instagram and found that it was sharing information about artist opportunities such as residencies and grants. Though this isn't promotional it is great for information on how to start my artist career once my time as a student is over.
