Carnations in a glass vase on a draped marble ledge Eloise Harriet Stannard (1829–1915, British)
Eloise Harriet was one of the fourteen children of landscape painter and drawing teacher Alfred Stannard and Martha Stannard (née Sparks). She was probably trained as an artist by her father, and her style was influenced by traditional Dutch still life painting, especially the artist Jan van Huysum. Eloise Harriet is today considered one of Britain's most gifted still life painters. She suffered from poor health but still maintained an active career as a painter, exhibiting regularly and becoming so successful that she never needed to take in pupils, as was often the case for women artists in the 19th century. In 1871 Eloise Stannard received an invitation from the Committee of the Female School of Arts, which asked her to be a judge for the school. Her poor health prevented her from accepting the invitation. She became a member of the Society of Women Artists in 1871.

Immerse yourself in a world of tranquility and artistic beauty with this captivating typography art print. It features the calming phrase “Poetry and Chill” nestled amidst a breathtaking reproduction of a floral masterpiece by the Dutch Golden Age painter Jan van Huysum. More than just words on a wall, this piece is an invitation to relaxation and creative inspiration. The elegant script of “Poetry and Chill” complements the delicate details of van Huysum’s flowers, creating a harmonious blend of language and art. 2. ART AND WRITING -
The artwork of choice for this occasion is a colorized print of Dutch artist Jan van Huysum's (1682-1749) A Flower Piece (1778-1781). This reproduction hangs on the wall of my living room and while it is not something that sparks much emotion to me personally, I walk by it every day and upon taking a closer look can appreciate the attention to detail. This piece's original production is an 80 × 61 cm (or 31 1/2 × 24 inch) oil on panel, the artist, just like me, having a keenness for studying flowers which explains the attention to detail in each depicted bloom. Despite this being a copy (printed by Richard Earlom, favored by his ability to recreate tones) commissioned by John Boydell, I appreciate the vibrance of the colors and the attention to detail on the fruits, lighting, and leaves, capturing each twisting and jagged edge.
(Pictures present above with a clearer online copy attached)
3. WRITING A SELF-PORTRAIT -
Currently I am 17 years old and align with the male gender and identity. I was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida, and am of Hispanic descent. In my past time I like to play games and catch up with my friends whenever possible as senior year is already causing scheduling issues. I am co-president of my high school's AVID club but am also a member of the local Phi Theta Kappa and National Honor Society chapters. I work part time as a host and as a houseman at two separate establishments to get some money in my pocket for college. Somethings thing that sets me apart are that I am antisocial but deeply loyal to those who see that and give me a chance to be myself. I also am in-tune and in touch with my feminine side, on top of enjoying other smaller things such as stuffed animals and coffee.
4. ART PROJECT (SELF-PORTRAIT) –
Side note: The girl represented by the Venezuelan flag obviously is not me but there is a reason why I chose this photo. It would be hard to put everyone who has influenced me in a single collage but I wanted to include a representation of a close friend somewhere. I actually just met her recently, and I am truly blessed to have. We share many common goals and aspire to do great things that our family didn’t have the opportunities to. The sense of pride and determination in her heart is inspiring and has rubbed off on me. Unlike most of my friends there was an immediate connection and it is because of her that I am further trying to apply myself and why I am here. Thank you V for encouraging me. Love you bestie<3
