So I promised @wanning-of-the-night-sky I’d translate an 2ha mini-theatre of her choosing as a gift for the holiday season. Here it is. Uh.. foul language, bad translator puns, and discussion of sex... but this is 2ha, what do you expect?

CWN: (uncontrolled rage) When he asks me about those things in full deference, has he ever considered my feelings? Must I nod and tell him, “Yes. Please come in. Remember to use protection. Welcome.”

当天，菜包回山后，跟死生之巅所有的猫发布了标题为——《要霸总还是要忠犬》的专题报道。

菜包：玉衡长老表示，跟零点五在一起，就像自己是个顶级鸭王，被一个不付钱的黑老大白嫖喵！

VeggieBun: Elder YuHeng has expressed being with 0.5 makes him feel like he’s a pre-meow-ium gigolo being visited by a mob boss who refuses to pay.

肉包：玉衡长老表示，跟二点零在一起，就像自己是个挑剔事多的黑老大，在花钱买顶级鸭王喵！

MeatBun: Elder YuHeng has expressed being with 2.0 makes him feel like he’s a picky mob boss paying for a pre-meow-ium gigolo.

翌日，死生之巅的猫全都没有了猫粮……

The next day, all the cats of SiSheng Peak went without food. 

Translation note: all the meows were at the end of the sentence... i decided to put some in words for artistic flair. also, sometimes the meow are at the end but in place of an actual character so i figured i could take some liberties in the translation... maybe. i just like cat puns. 

Also, the last lines from each of the buns were kinda hard to translate. i don’t use those words in chinese usually nor in english.. so i kinda had to google the chinese and verify the english. orz

Chinese New Year Celebrations

As you might have guessed, Chinese New Year is coming up soon. January 25th marks the first day of the celebrations, and it will last for two weeks in China.

It ends with the Lantern Festival, on February 8th. If your not in China/other Asian countries, there are still things you can do to celebrate.

Hang 对联 [duílián] around your door to usher in a year of good fortune.

对联 are rhyming couplets that you can draw and then hang around a main door. There are two on either side that hang vertically, and one small one that goes over top that hangs horizontally. The saying should have something to do with the zodiac of the coming year, something to do with good luck and fortune, or spring poems. You can find sayings to write online，or buy an already printed one at a party store.

Make 包子 / 水饺 [bāozi / shuǐ jiáo] steamed buns or dumplings.

My personal favorite are bbq pork buns, but all of them are delicious. Making and eating lots of dishes are a big part of Chinese New Year. Unlike American culture, put all the dishes on the table your eating and simply put them in your bowl/plate with your chopsticks. Also, if you want to wish someone a good year of fortune or express your goodwill towards them, don’t feel uncomfortable about taking food and putting in on their bowl/plate.

Giving your children a 红包 [hóngbāo] 🧧 Red Envelope

Every new year, parents give a red envelope to their children full of money. There are many confusing rules and customs that go along with this, but here are the basics:

Odd numbers are bad. The money amount can’t have 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9. The number 1 is usually excused, but only if your giving an amount like 18.

It also can’t include the number 4. Four 四 （sì) sounds like word for death in Chinese.

If the 红包 is for a wedding, the number eight can’t be used because it sounds similar to the word “breaking”. But if it’s for New Years, the number 8 sounds a lot like luck in Chinese. People often get amounts like 18, or 28.

The amount given is directly connected to how much a person wants to wish you a good year to come. If the older person doesn’t like you, expect a smaller amount — haha

Do NOT under any situation, open the envelope in front of people. ESPECIALLY the person who gave it to you. That’s the biggest fuck up ever and I can’t be held responsible if you decide to be stupid so just DONT

Jobs will also give you a Christmas bonus in the form of a 红包。Same rules apply.

For weddings, the more you give to the couple, the more you can expect in return when your wedding comes. If I gave someone the normal amount of 2600, they would double that, but then since they can’t use 4, they would add another 2000 to make 6000 when it came to my wedding.

I got distracted but it’s important to know that the 红包 is for more than just New Years.

Make paper lanterns / paper crafts

It’s fun to make and hang paper lanterns up for decorations. Especially things to do with the Zodiac is the year (Rat 2020, if you didn’t know already).

Letting off lanterns or fireworks

This kind of depends on where you are. Letting off lanterns is fun and usually done on the last day (The Lantern Festival - Feb. 8th), and is a quiet, harmless activity. Fireworks... if you have awesome neighbors who don’t care when you chose to blow up explosives in your own back yard, go ahead. I don’t. My neighbor totally blew a gasket last year...Even on July 4th... which is an American holiday.... idek what that guys problem is. — if you’re a neighbor one day, be a good one, like Mr. Rogers says.

Lego Changes Policy After Dispute with Chinese Artist Ai Weiwei

Lego will no longer ask bulk buyers about how they intend to use their bricks following a high-profile dispute with Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei, the BBC reports.

The Danish toy company released a statement on Tuesday announcing changes to its policy for selling bricks in very large quantities. Previously when large purchases of bricks were ordered, the Lego group asked the customer “about the thematic purpose of the project” in order that the bricks were not used to “actively support or endorse specific agendas of individuals or organizations,” the statement said.

The former guidelines “could result in misunderstandings or be perceived as inconsistent,” however, and the Lego Group said that as of January 1, it would simply ask bulk buyers to make it clear that the Group did not endorse their projects if they were to be displayed in public.

In October 2015, Weiwei set up collection points for Lego bricks in different cities around the world after the company declined to sell him a bulk order of bricks on the basis that they might be used in a political context. Weiwei previously used Lego bricks to create portraits of 175 dissident figures , including U.S. whistleblower Edward Snowden, which was displayed on the site of the former Alcatraz prison near San Francisco.

He planned to use the bricks for a similar work at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. Weiwei called Lego’s refusal to sell him the bricks “an act of censorship and discrimination” and also linked the decision to an announcement in October that Lego was opening a new theme park in Shanghai. Weiwei had his passport confiscated by Chinese authorities for four years—it was only returned in July 2015—and his work has been censored in China.

Weiwei appeared to welcome the news of Lego’s policy reversal with an image on his Instagram account of a young boy attaching bricks to his face:
