An ashy mining bee (Andrena cineraria) on an old dandelion head. A distinctive early spring bee, females burrow into the ground to make nests, creating a pile of soil by the entrance. Although they are solitary bees there may be many nests in a small area.

There is a patch of poached-egg flowers growing next to my pond. Pollinating insects love it, and I love to watch them. Here are a few of this weekend's visitors.

I'm seeing the tags hating on Muang in Be Mine, Superstar because "he was mean to Punn" or something like that, but does this look like the face of a mean man?

Seriously, look at this puddin' pop! He wouldn't hurt a bee. He is saving the turtles. He doesn't even use straws.

In fact, he looks like someone was mean to HIM, so he is really the victim here.

I know that him tricking Punn into spending time with Ashi by being super aggressive about it and also manipulating Punn to get food for him as well aren't looking great,

But it all comes from a place of kindness because Muang is a giver.

So to recap this post - Muang is the best boy and has never done anything wrong in his entire life.

I didn't have the energy to answer this then I forgot

Anyway now I am anxious and need to calm down so bee facts yes please also I love you too

Now a lot of bees look VERY similar to each other, what with different variations of black and yellow beeing the standard and all (even so there's some variations, like how fluffy they are (bumblebees usually being VERY fluffy), if they have a white butt, if they're more orange or yellow, etc etc etc) but some of them have REALLY iconic looks!

For example we have the euphorb mini-fairy bee, which first of all is REALLY FUCKING TINY, second of all it's like a dark honey color all over!

There's the red-tailed bumblebee (called steinhumle in Norwegian, stone bumlbebee) which is all black with a really red butt

There's LOADS of all black bees (WHICH LOOK SO SO COOL!)

There's some that are blue, some that are green, CAN'T FOR GET THE ASHY MINING BEE WHICH IS GRAY AND BLACK!

And that's just touching on COLORS! Some of them look to me as if they have thicker or thinner legs, some are way fatter, some are more thin and bumpy, like I mentioned some are fluffier than others, from what I can tell some (but not all) bees have fluffy little faces! And they vary a lot in size!

Types of Mining Bees

There is no mistaking the tawny mining bee: a honeybee-sized ginger species with a thick orange coat and a black face. They feast on shrubs ranging from willow, hawthorn and blackthorn to fruit trees and maples, and love gorging on dandelions.

Tawny mining bees are found in a wide variety of habitats. From gardens to parks, if there is an area of light soil or a bare bank, you are likely to spot one.

The Ashy Mining Bee is an absolutely beautiful bee, and if I had to pick a bee for a character it would be this as it sticks out both the least and the most with it's lack of colours. They can be found in lots of different locations too, such as in heathland, moorland edges, open woodland, coastal grassland, cliffs and quarries.

This isn't my picture, but it shows my new favourite bee perfectly. This is an ashy mining bee, he is male, you can tell by the very dapper white moustache and he's as cute as it gets.
