It was mostly the secondary characters Going Through It though, like Greed's team or the bookworm-turned-librarian. Poor girl navigated between Polish and Russian spelling for a while, from Scieszka to Sciezka to ultimately Sheska.

The great thing in fandoms that they fill in the gasps. Like there is something missing in the plot and someone will come with a theory to explain why is it like that. And then more people will come and they create their own theories.

Im just saying that anything will happen with your story/comic. There will be people who likes it.

Where you see the reasons why is happening what and when, we, the readers mostly dont really think much about in it. There are less people who try to pry open everything in a story, and most people just will roll with it.

I know you want it to be perfect, and I respect that. You doing a great job so its perfectly fine to take a deep breath and maybe step back to see what the readers see so far. Maybe they will see a perfect plot where you see missing parts.

Just take breakes, your well being matters much. Take care!

Question: How do you feel that you have explained enough when writing? When your words are flowing like water from your pen, and the rush is so fast at times you feel like before you stop to ink those details in, the direction, that careful context that brings your readers along for the ride, you end up being swept away onto the next part in your fervour.

And you revise it, yeah, course you do, but how can you tell when you have sufficiently written the right bridges and smoothed out the crinkles in your writing form?

Ok, so, I've been thinking about how to answer this. I think maybe the answer is that I'm not that kind of writer?

The moments when I am being swept along to the next big thing are vanishingly rare. I need to get this scene right before I can go write that scene. This is not a strength. It has taken me years to get comfortable leaving myself something like [some transition] at the end of a scene to come back to it later and moving on to the next bit I can write rather than getting completely stuck.

scrolling back up to revise now: I think also part of not getting swept along to the next bit is knowing that I can always get to that next bit. It's not going anywhere. I'll get there when I get there and the scene will have had time to mature in my head in the meanwhile. But then, I am less at mercy of the whims of hyperfocus than many a writer who is diagnoseable with ADHD or the like. I am not. I don't have to get it done Right Now Immediately or it'll never get done, you know?

I am also not that analytical of a writer. I don't really think logically about if I've written the right bridges and smoothed out the crinkles? It's all vibes up in here. It's right when it feels right. If it feels sparse and incomplete, I add more. Sometimes it feels overstuffed and the pacing is off, and I have to delete some (that one is much harder. I am very proud of the fact that I am now able to take the axe to some of my words sometimes. It is not my strength, but something I'm working on).

Getting a feel for that kind of thing comes with practice. I know a decade ago I didn't think in satisfying narrative arcs when coming up with characters? I was spitballing with a friend fleshing out their OC the other day and found myself going 'ok, if the beginning of their arc is realizing that these people are depending on them and they need to step up, then the satisfying conclusion should be realizing that they can depend on these people in turn'. It's something I might have done instinctively earlier in my writing? But now I have the experience and tools to think about more intentionally.

I am also not that analytical of a writer in the fact that I just write functional words. I greatly admire authors who can think deeply about individual word choices through the entirety of a work, picking them like a poet so every sentence is perfect. They're out there building the literary equivalent of towering aqueducts, stone by stone and word by word. That's not me. I'm just standing in the word fields digging a trench one small shovelful at a time, and eventually I've dug a ditch that the water pretty much flows through to get where I wanted it to go, and that's good enough.

The story is never going to be the story it was in my head. In my head, a story is all unspecified vibes, powerful images, and the occasional good snippet of prose. The story in my head doesn't have to have grammar and punctuation. It's never going to be what it was in my head, but if I can get the main emotions across that's good enough for me. And again, I can't tell you how to know when you have gotten the emotions across. That's something you have to figure out yourself with time and practice (and also by the reactions of the people who read your story. it's hard to do in a vacuum.)

i'm working on two fics right now (both of which are character x character) that are being written in english and japanese that i'm going to post on ao3 and pixiv, one of which is a lovely usonami bday present for a friend. a pre-ts sick fic that takes place after the events of little garden but before the crew reaches drum island

it's set in usopp's pov and he is comforting nami the entire time during his appointed time of watching over nami and making sure she is provided for. it also adds a fair bit of introspection of usopp's character because of course i can't just let this be a cute and fluffy sick fic between usopp and nami

17 ⧽. are there any songs you want to write a songfic for?

i think if i was asked this in my younger years, this would be a fervent yes but today's nyla has nothing jfdnskjfn. i mostly use songs to help me figure out the mood i'm trying to establish in a scene. but i do remember in 2021/2021 i did do an event on an old blog where people could send me a song lyric and i'd write a drabble based on it at the suggestion of a friend!

hmm logan and remus. i'm totally not biased because they're two of my favorites lmao

so i know with wtit they've already had a little story dedicated to them, but they parallel each other and i think it would make for an interesting story for c!thomas to realize he's pushing them BOTH away.

this was gonna be a short answer but i ended up writing an essay sorry lmao

someone's made a post about it already but logan and remus have so many parallels in their intentions despite having complete opposite methods. i think it would be cool to see that fully realized in the series rather than just an asides episode that displays it less as the parallel and more as "remus fucks everything up for logan". don't get me wrong it was a great episode!! i'm just saying i want to see it explored further.

the parallel is that both remus and logan want c!thomas to take time to work on himself by showing him everything else he could be doing. but the difference in method is that logan is trying to help c!thomas by giving him tasks to do to refocus, while remus is showing him everything that could go wrong to convince him he's not doing great. remus is trying to get him to seek help, while logan is trying to help by himself. it's an interesting way to view it.

but no matter which way could work better- adding stress or lessening it- both remus and logan are being ignored. remus's intrusive thoughts are getting repressed no matter how many times c!thomas is told that's unhealthy, and c!thomas isn't hearing out logan's perspective due to being more emotional than logical. another cool parallel the finale should explore!

also, remus is the only character who's purpose to helping c!thomas hasn't been addressed in the show. each side has their way of being helpful and harmful, and it seems like only the fandom knows remus is also trying to help while c!thomas doesn't.

here's the list of harmful traits that have been mentioned in canon:

patton: focuses too deeply on emotion and throws logical thought out the window

roman: ego crisis

logan: too strict on deadlines

virgil: stressing c!thomas out too much

janus: causing distrust among c!thomas's friends by means of deception

remus: causing intrusive thoughts

meanwhile here's the list of HELPFUL traits from each side addressed in canon.

patton: lets c!thomas see the good in everyone

roman: helps c!thomas follow his dreams

logan: seeks knowledge that could be useful to c!thomas (as well as the viewers or writer!thomas)

virgil: keeps c!thomas alert

janus: self care king

remus:

radio silence. literally no helpful traits have been addressed for remus, despite them being clear to someone like me who analyzes too deeply. he IS trying to help c!thomas by reminding him things could be worse, but instead of taking a "count your blessings" approach, he's taking a "hey look how fucked up this would be" approach.

while remus's purpose hasn't been realized and is useful, logans IS realized and useful but c!thomas just doesn't listen. the biggest difference between the two isn't their method- it's the way c!thomas is ignorant to them. he ignores logan's helpfulness and just isn't aware of remus's.

i don't know how this ended up being so long but i just really want to see these parallels and contrasting stories addressed rather than played off as "haha remus makes rube goldberg machines to piss off logan teehee how silly of him!"

Add unsafe touring environment to TS resume. She can acknowledge when a fan dies at her concert cause she HAS to. But she can't acknowledge the fans she has that are being terrorized & murdered because of the war in Gaza / Ukraine because that would mean she has to accept the world doesn't revolve around her. I know it is technically not her fault and out of her control but Travis Scott was destroyed in the media for the same thing, why is Taylor getting sympathy. Oh yeah she's the Aryan Goddess

the travis scott situation was easily much worse and more severe bc so many people were involved and it was clear he knew on stage and refused to stop the show to make sure people were getting help. so, he was rightfully being held accountable for that. I don’t know the details of what happened with the person at taylor’s concert, so I don’t know if it even had to do with the concert/taylor or if it was a pre existing medical condition, I’ve only heard about it in my askbox. but the comparison with taylor and travis feels very disproportionate.
