I’ve been building my site surrenderyourwill.com from scratch using Microsoft Azure. The site’s all about mental health, addiction recovery, and spiritual surrender—and every step of the process has taught me something new. These are the sites I’ve found especially helpful while building it:
1. Azure Portal – https://portal.azure.com
This is where I manage all the back-end parts of my website: resources, virtual machines, storage, and more. I like how customizable it is—it makes me feel in control of the project.
2. Azure Architecture Center – https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/
This site helped me understand how to structure my site the right way. The diagrams are clear, and the advice on scalability, performance, and security is legit helpful.
3. Azure Updates – https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/
I use this page to stay on top of what’s new with Azure. It’s regularly updated, easy to navigate, and gives me ideas for improving my own site when new features drop.
4. Microsoft Learn – Azure – https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/azure/
This site helped me actually learn how to use Azure. The interactive lessons and progress tracking made it way easier to grasp things like networking, app services, and virtual environments.
Bonus: WordPress on Azure – https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/developer/php/tutorial-vm-wordpress-on-ubuntu
I’m using WordPress for the actual front-end of surrenderyourwill.com because it lets me customize everything visually while Azure handles the power and security underneath. This combo gives me both creative control and technical reliability.
These sites aren’t just helping me complete a project—they helped me build something that matters to me.

We’re in the home stretch now, everyone -- 4 weeks down and 2 weeks to go until stories are due!
I hope everyone is having fun with their assignments!  There are already a few works in the collection and I’m very excited to see them there!
Just a few gentle reminders:
Your complete work does have to be posted by the time assignments are due on August 10th (check the pinned post on this blog for the “what time is that for me?” link), but you will have until the collection is revealed on August 17th to make editing tweaks, if necessary.
If your story is not complete by August 10th, then your recipient will be assigned a pinch hitter to insure that they have a gift when the collection opens.
However, you have until author reveals on August 24th to complete any treats that you wish to complete.
For anyone unsure how to post their completed gift, you will find a brief posting guide behind the cut:
1. The easiest way to post your gift is from your assignments page on AO3
Tumblr media
You can find the “My Assignments” tab from the dropdown menu in your “Hi username!” link or you can find it on the left hand side of your AO3 dashboard.
One you are on your Assignments page, scroll down until you see your unfulfilled assignment:
Tumblr media
Click “Fulfill”.  By doing so, this section:
Tumblr media
...will be checked off for you.  You do not have to fill in the “Gift this work to” section; that will be taken care of by the fact that you are fulfilling your assignment.  You will need to fill out the fandom, the characters, the rating, and warnings, and all other sections as you would anything you post to AO3.
2. Fulfilling your assignment; option 2
From your dashboard, you will click the “Post New” button.
Tumblr media
You will fill in all sections as normal until you get to the “Associations” section.
You will see a box that looks like this:
Tumblr media
All you have to do is check that box (make sure you’re checking the correct box if you’re participating in more than one exchange!), and finish posting your work as usual.
3. Posting a treat that is not your assignment
Posting a treat is not that much different than posting your assignment, you just don’t have the shortcut of having the exchange information filled in for you.
From your dashboard, you will click the “Post New” button.
Tumblr media
You will fill in all sections as normal until you get to the “Associations” section.
On the line that says “Post to Collections / Challenges” you will fill in “PingxieExchange2022“.  (If you start typing “Pingxie,” it should be the first one to pop up.)  This is important.  If you do NOT fill in the collection name, then the work will still be gifted to your intended recipient, but it will be gifted now and not anonymously.
Tumblr media
The next line down is “Gift this work to” and is equally important.  Please double check the username of your intended treat-ee before treating them.  You don’t want a misspelling to end with your gift gifted to the wrong person!  (As you type, a drop-down menu should appear.  If the person has an account at AO3, their username should appear in the drop-down menu like so:
Tumblr media
Just make sure you pick the right one!
From there the rest of posting the work is the same as posting any work to AO3.
I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions, feel free to drop them in the askbox or on the queries post on Dreamwidth!
