Apologies to those who have me on other socials and have seen the video and pics a million times already, but I also wanted to share them here, and it was genuinely the best day ever so.
Yesterday I travelled to London, spent a lovely day in the sunshine with some new fandom friends, then saw the Cryptid Factor live. It was a fantastic experience and the show was as chaotic and wonderful as I'd ever hoped. Rhys, Dan and Buttons also came out after the show and talked to us all about how much the show means to them and how thankful they are for our support. It was honestly so lovely and afterwards they did a whole escalator high five thing which was amazing (no doubt there are videos floating around already!). I got a high five from Rhys which is the next best thing to actually meeting him, and I can honestly say the whole thing was just mad and wonderful and so exciting ❤️
Also when I tell you my heart was nearly thumping out of my chest having him a few feet away from me lmao one of my new fandom friends was literally like "are you OK?" 😂😂
Edit: if you'd like to follow me on other socials, my Instagram is jess.in.the.sky and my (fandom) twitter is ohoneonefour, I do also have Discord but I always forget it exists 😂
Rewatching Durarara with a friend of mine and we hit the Shizuo episode and I remembered wow he's my favorite character in this.
A character who id defined by violence: the strongest man in town, super-human even, uncontrollable, and easily irritable. But I love the episode we get for him because it really re-frames how his life led up to this.
He's had issues with anger and control since he was a kid. He's been in a cycle of getting angry, harming himself through wanton destruction, getting hospitalized, and healing his broken bones on-and-on until his body just actually got strong enough to stop getting hurt. A cycle he doesn't much like, causing him pain, property destruction, and sometimes hurting those he cares about. He loses jobs because of it and its obviously not very good socially. P neurodivergent imo.
But you know what he's also known for. That damn bartender outfit. The ones his brother gave him to encourage him keeping one of his many jobs. Of course, world isn't nice, he loses that job same way as the others. Now he's working as a bodyguard for a debt collector, one where his strength and infamy can decently benefit him. But he still wears the bartender outfit because of how many of them his brother got for him. So it's really cute how although he's still known for his anger, he's identified by something that came out of love, and from one of his favorite people.
He REALLY loves his brother. One of the people who's not afraid of him AND can actually calm him down. The other core one is Celty. He definitely has other friends, but those two are, like, THE people he can just really relax around. Show that his true nature isn't violence or wrath. He'd prefer being able to just chill, his brain just won't let him.
So besides his struggles, what I really like about Shizuo is that he can just exist. Despite his problems, he has a support system, he has a stable job now, he has friends, he has people who can stop him, and he can just live even if a lot of that life has to be angry. Heck, the police don't even apprehend him because his fits happen so much. Such a destructive person is okay to just be there. Problems will arise, and that's okay.
murder time trio should get to all experiment with dead bodies. why? because they can and it would be cool (okay but seriously i'll provide an explanation). all these freaks are scientists. i think it would be cool and funky if they all got to experiment! except morbidly and bloodily because none of them are right in the head now
killer like has his whole thing with wanting SOULs for some unspecified reason??? i'm just gonna steal the common interpretation that it's so he can find a way to fix his own soul through coding. but like,,,, what does he do with the desd bodies??? all the fellas he stole those souls from??? well this is where dust and horror come in
it's One Panel and i'm ABSOLUTELY reaching here but there's a (single) panel in horrortale where horror's pulling apart some sort of human limb like an arm with a device. why? what for? i dont fucking know at all man like papyrus said why is he always doing something weird in his room. anyways i'm just gonna guess its probably for rationing in horrortale (but it could also be that horror just felt like ripping apart an arm. for scientific purposes. or because he did this after ripping off aliza's arm so maybe he's doing some sort of recollection reflection or something i dunno im not a professional on this man). killer could totally send all the already dead HUMAN bodies horror's way for horrortale's food situation. maybe horror likes to dissect the humans yk maybe he's not just the type of bash (a head open) and dash. monsters dust so you cant see their guts but humans dont so horror gets prime time first hand experience on the human body! and then after he's done poking around in the brain he can give the meat and organs to papyrus for him to do his specific spaghetti confectionery
but but but what about the monsters that killer takes the souls from! surely he doesn't just take from only humans (dude idk if he actually does take from only human or monster. probably not right? he needs to study BOTH types of code so he can be most informed) so he must also take monster souls. and fortunately for dust (i do NOT think he'd quite like handling gore) monsters don't leave behind bodies or blood or allat they leave behind dust. hah. dust experiment with dust. i think its already a headcanon out there that dust likes to study dust. i cant exactly recall WHY exactly but maybe it's for sentimental reasons or just something to do to pass time between resets. so killer can just pass on whatever dust he gets to him and he can put it under his little microscope and be a little nerd what a GEEK. give this guy glasses and remove all his teeth but one i guarantee you he'll look like 🤓
and once again i hear you cry out but but triglycercule! why would killer even give the dead bodies and stuff to horror and dust in the first place??? erm number one because i said so silly. jk. and number two (if we're going in a nightmare's gang context here) it could be as a way for killer to gain horror and dust's trust. a way for them not to tattle on him for stealing souls for some unknown reason. maybe there's somehow important coding information left behind in the bodies/dust (because that's literally what utmv is made of) and killer wants dust and horror to do that work for him for some reason. maybe just a way for him to get rid of evidence maybe if theyre buddy pals and close enough just as a gift. i dunno man there's a bunch of reasons as to why he could possibly do this. i just really liked the thought of the trio all wearing fancy lab coats and goggles and i was like damn how can i make this a real possibility
did you know? when cameras experience too much light, too much exposure to something blinding and brilliant, the highlighted parts turn pink.
perhaps, with enough exposure to something of that radiant caliber, someone's thoughts might also attain such a hue? washed out, all detail beneath them stripped away underneath an all-consuming magenta?
Something I wish people would understand is that going "Well all men, literally every single one of them, is useless and evil and misogynistic and we don't need any of them" just means that. You will end up blaming women. If they get abused by men. Because you didn't need to involve yourself with a man, don't you know that all men are dangerous, what's wrong with you, what did you expect, this is partly (if not completely) on you for willingly cAvORtiNg with a man.
I shouldn't have to explain why putting the blame of abuse or assault on the victims is incredibly fucked up and unhelpful and just. Inhumane behavior.
Saying this completely seriously without nuance also means that you are essentially telling straight women (and bisexual women who happen to fall in love with a man, which, contrary to what people seem to think, is NOT THE SAME THING AS A STRAIGHT WOMAN!!!!!) that they cannot be trusted to pick a "good" relationship (silly girl, how can I believe you have any kind of brain in your head at all if you would fall in love with a man, the fact that you would dare to stoop so low means there's something wrong with you), and that whatever kind of relationship they have with their romantic partner in this context is inherently toxic and awful and meaningless.
Like. Idk y'all!! I'm tired of people making everything about men too, and people get waaaaay too bent out of shape by women bemoaning the patriarchy by making offhand comments about being frustrated by men. But most people do not actually mean "I hate every single man who has ever existed, they are all equally awful and dangerous to me and to every woman." And when people DO actually mean this, when it actually is a blanket hatred of every man forever, so much of the time it's just further used as a way to hate on women, and I wish we talked about that more!
