What this one is: ATC drawing of a bird ready for flight drawn using Prismacolor pencils and a black micron brush pen. It was outlined using a fine tip black Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen. Quote on the back is by Dolly Parton: “We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.” Original mailed to a very stressed friend who should hopefully receive it soon. Shared publicly to maybe bring a moment’s peace or joy to those observing it. Why am I starting (or being a part of) this movement of sorts: The world is a crazy place right now and while I was bummed out and feeling a bit anxious the other day, I came up with a way to make myself, and hopefully others, feel a bit better. At least maybe for a few minutes at a time. I haven’t been in much of a drawing mood lately but do enjoy drawing little random acts of kindness drawings for others. These drawings are usually artist trading card (ATC) sized or 2.5” by 3.5” and are a great size to mail. I had thought about giving these out in person also, as I’ve done in the past, but decided it best to add social distancing into the mix as well to be on the safe side. I decided my hashtag for this would be #spreadartnotgerms. This can encapsulate all of the arts not just fine art/drawing. People are turning to the arts more and more as they find themselves sheltering in place whether voluntarily or on lockdown. Posts after this initial one will be less formal and more specific to the art/quotes being posted. Spreading art is fun for all while spreading germs is not.
