❝ What?! ❞ Oh, now he was the one suddenly stopping just to stare at the monster in an awestruck state. So suddenly, even, she could have accidentally bumped into him had he not jumped and pointed at her. ❝ Your name is also Susie?! ❞ He remained frozen in that pose for a moment, until-- ❝ That checks out. ❞ --he instantly relaxed, maintaining a straight face as he said that.

Having a teenage older sister meant he could stand up to any other teenager... especially those that had the same name as her. And shared quite a few similarities with her. And so, even when his silhouette was being consumed by the teenager's large shadow, Pump did not even flinch. Neither he broke eye contact as he, slowly, shook his head, his stare practically emphasizing: Kevin is NOT food!!

if Susie... THE monster Susie, were to eat Kevin, then they would never get free candy again! Worst of all, the candy store would close down! And that would not be spooky, oh no. That would be SCARY! So he could not let that happen.

Still. ❝ Oh... ❞ Perhaps his assumption had been wrong. ❝ You don't? ❞ His voice softened, lowering his head ever so slightly. ❝ Aw. That's sad. ❞ And he meant it. Even "big, mean and scary" people should have friends. Or, at least, one friend.

He could sympathize, really. Before transferring to a human school in the next town over, his big sister used to be just like that. Always talking to her computer instead of going out. The similarities really were there and... it caused the cogs inside his head to start doing what cogs what cogs do best: turn... and turn... and... Ding! A lightbulb, or perhaps a candle, lighted up inside his pumpkin head.

And so, in the same way, his face soon lighted up. Yup. He had an even better idea.

❝ I got it! ❞ Oh oh. That looks of pride in his eyes was back. ❝ It's okay-- ❞ A gloved hand pressed against his chest. ❝ --I'll be your friend! ❞ "Can be"? "Pretend to be"? Nope. "Will be". His wording choice had been very deliberate. ❝ Aaaaand you can do whatever I do when we get there. ❞ Just like he and Skid did. They were pretty much synchronized. ❝ It's not like Kevin has to know we weren't friends before. ❞

Anyone else, even the monster he was talking to, should have thought that this was a beyond-the-pale way of acting. It did not solve the issue at hand, and it might as well have added even more issues to the pile! She had almost bitten his face off and he had almost blown her up!! But it was obvious this seven-year-old could have cared less at the time.

" yeah ... that checks out . " she guesses they're leaving it at that . fine by her . parents are no good ; this revelation is an unsurprising one . if anything , susie finds herself thinking absently , the real shock is how ... stupidly sweet this kid's turned out in spite of their absence .

eurgh . the monster shakes herself .

the hell is she thinking something so soft for ??

" big sister , huh . " susie nods , turning her gaze forwards again . at least all her irrational concerns are put to rest by his explanation . although pump didn't seem perturbed by her visible whiplash over hearing her own name slung so casually , she feels the need to explain herself anyway . " ... that's my name too , y'know . susie . heh . kinda thought you were punking me , for a second . "

yellowed eyes glint down at pump hauntingly from where she towers , the dark shadow cast over her face by her hair concealing any possible warmth or kindness that might be hidden within her harrowing gaze . ( unlikely as that prospect may be . )

" can't help having a lot of 'em . " susie snorts with derision at the child's sentiment . even as her scary grin eases , a few too many of her oversized teeth still poke out , visibly sharp and unnervingly large . the implication that she might plot to eat candyboy makes her bark with laughter , her shoulders rolling into an impish shrug upon recovery . " 's'like you read my mind . heheheh . "

pump's instruction gives her pause . for a fleeting moment , the girl's got half a mind to let him have it for --- for trying to order her around . as if she'd EVER listen to a twerp like HIM . ( though she's not really affronted by his earnest suggestion . it's more the impossible nature of what he asks of her . )

like she's saying hi to a friend . right .

" ... uh . but i don't ever smile like that . think about it , twerp . i'm big , mean and scary . i don't like anyone ; i've told you that . so . d'you think anyone likes ME ?? hell , no . look , this is goddamn stupid . how about YOU do the smiling , and I'LL ... uh . i'll just ... say that ' please ' word . "

"... huh?"

The quiet response of confusion came with a blink of green eyes as she looked up up from her notes, having been so engrossed in the short bit of work she'd gotten done she hadn't fully parsed what the other had meant at first. It's not until she realizes Susie might've been about to leave that a brief panic fills her eyes.

"W-wait...!" Noelle stammers, raising a hand to get Susie's attention & stop her before she'd just wander off in boredom... only to quickly second-guess how desperate she looked doing it, pulling it back and doing her best to hide the brief anxiety with a smile.

"I mean... if you'd like to take a break, we can! Note-taking can be pretty mind-numbing sometimes..." She suggests with a small laugh, clasping her hands over the open book in front of her (covering up the fact her mind wasn't at all numbed). "You don't need to leave, though! The library is a pretty nice place for a break, I think!"

there’s not much they have to say to that  —  or rather,  not much they can say.   it’s the sort of situation where they imagine,  if kris and susie were any other pair of kids,  they could reply with something reassuring like...

“  that’s not true, ”     or,     “  plenty of people like you.  ”

and susie would smile,  grateful and pacified,  and they would carry on with that weight lifted.

but the two of them aren’t just any pair of kids,  they’re kris and susie.   which means,  of course,  that for one:  susie is very much widely disliked throughout town  —  notorious as a problem child,  a bully,  a nuisance,  a mean girl.   kris understands this and,  more importantly,  susie understands this.   and as for kris...   well,  they certainly lack the charm or capacity for deceit to make a lie like that sound even remotely convincing.

not that they would,  even if they could.   it just feels like brushing the sentiment away,  as if susie of all people wouldn’t know about the way that she’s treated unfairly,  and they’re not that kind of person.

it doesn’t really matter in the end,  because the quiet,  mumbled words that fall out of their mouth are instead,     “  i like you.  ”

it’s one of the few times that they can be grateful that both puppet and puppeteer, both body and soul agree.

HAMMY RAMBLES ABOUT OTHERS (Accepting).

MY OPINION ON;

Character in general: Toby Fox should hire ME to voice Susie in the eventual Deltarune anime, because her character was made for ME!! Could be bias from interacting with her in this blog first, sure, but after my second replay of both DR chapters I can say she's my favorite of the main cast. Like she genuinely grows on you?? In spite of the very strong impression she makes at the beginning of Ch1 with her whole "quiet people piss me off" but. She just has a very rough and tough exterior, an intimidating presence and a reputation that precedes her. All of which are bound to make people not willing to get to know her better-- her real her. I love how we only start seeing bits and pieces of her real self through her dynamic with Lancer, which is SUPER SWEET!! Like she wants to stick to that perception others have on her, but deep down she just wants to have fun with her friends and openly be HERSELF without being seen as the bad guy. Also, in Ch2, it's really funny how, out of all the characters that could have done so, she's the one foiling Queen. Like she can also be very grounded!! Our multi-dimensional girlie!! I just LOVE her!!

How they play them: I like Susie because of Lee's Susie, let's be real here. I only decided to replay both DR chapters AFTER I started interacting with her and, really, Lee might as well be The Susie Expert, because they're the reason I have come to enjoy her and understand her as much as I do now. That and most of Deltarune's lore! Fun fact: I SOMEHOW had never finished Ch2 until yesterday, so Lee got my live reaction to the ending lol. I just gotta appreciate all the love Lee puts into talking about and writing Susie, to the point that she's one of the muses whose threads I will read whenever they pop up in my Dash EVEN if I'm not involved in them. It's that genuinely good. Not to mention all the meta and headcanon posts (I like the idea of Susie being a dragon), SO MUCH PASSION!!

The Mun: Dude, Lee and I have hit it off SO WELL and SO QUICKLY!! Like it was a match made in Heaven, no kidding: Pump wanted to throw hands with Susie, Susie wanted to grip Pump like a ragdoll, and the rest if history!! Very RECENT history, may, I add?? I hasn't even been three weeks since we've become mutuals, but I'm glad we have, because I have TONS of fun talking to em!! We're INSANELY invested into this new dynamic and, honestly, I hope I'm not being overwhelming with all my DMing because, man, I love talking to em and our little guys, and we've barely gotten started with this crossover AU stuff-- and AS SOON AS ALICE COMES BACK it's going to be so over for the Dash!!

RP with them: HELL YEAH!! Only one thread and a couple of asks, but they're happening at LIGHTNING speed because we're just THAT invested!!

Want to RP with them: OF COURSE!! We're working on lots of other sweet, sweet stuff behind the scenes as we speak, teehee. Susie and Pump are meant to be a LONG-TERM thing. I'm just too invested now.

Overall Opinion: If you had told me a month ago that Susie Deltarune bullying Skid was going to result in me finding a new bestie that was going to give me DR brainrot (and automatically make Susie my favorite DR character), Pump getting a monster big sister that is COINCIDENTALLY named just like his actual big sister, and me writing a whole ass crossover AU in the span of, like, TWO WEEKS, then I would not have believed you lol. Thinking about it, it is shocking how we just hit it off instantly and now we're doing all these things together. Not like that is a bad thing or I'm complaining-- I'm super happy to have met Lee and Susie!! 👀👀 Unironically worth the follow, this blog and mun get Hammy's Seal of Approval. Also, uh, The Princess from Slay the Princes?? Peak taste, I love that game.

Even as she said that, her demeanor seemed more amused than confrontational, as was her interest less on the perpetrator and more on the crime scene itself... head tilting to the side to look past the teenager at it, giving a low whistle of... admiration?

"How'd you even smash it so good? No way you did all that yourself- you got a bigger, stronger accomplice hiding somewhere?"

     OH,   THEY'RE   FLEEING?   oh!   they're   fleeing!   world   tilts   as   noelle   finds   herself   hoisted   off   the   ground   with   little   -   to   -   no   ceremony   at   all.   she   flounders,   for   a   moment,   paws   flailing   out   to   secure   a   hold   on   – 

     oh.   oh,   gosh.   noelle   clings   with   one   hand   to   the   collar   of   susie's   jacket,   cheeks   warming   to   sunlike   temperatures   in   a   matter   of   seconds,   despite   the   situation   at   hand.   some   monster   calls   out   in   protest   behind   them   ;   pounding   footsteps   ring   out   against   the   pavement   in   their   wake.   she   twists,   a   little   reluctantly,   to   peer   over   susie's   shoulder.   ears   and   tail   fly   up   in   unison   ;   girl   yelps.

         “   they're   not   backing   down,   ”    noelle   warns,   winding   an   arm   'round   monstrous   shoulder   and   splaying   a   palm   out.   cold   air   gathers   at   her   fingertips.    “   just   –   just   keep   running!   ”

HAMMY'S POSTING. Oh wow, what, I just realized that both @nufimuses and @atechalk sent me the same prompt... as a pink teenage girl named Susie... THESE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME GIRL!! One is HUMAN, the other a DRAGON MONSTER!! Hello?? Anyone?? WHY DOES PUMP HAVE TWO (2) ✌️ BIG SISTERS NAMED SUSIE?? It's not even a different spelling-- it's down to the NAME!! I'm actually losing it here, they should meet, this is what officializes that other post for me.

There was a beat of silence as Susie blinked in disbelief.

When Kris originally started this backtracking spree, she'd reluctantly agreed under the assumption that they must've learned some new directions while she was split from the group.

When the three stepped onto a side path, a large chest resting at its end, she thought they'd finally made it. There had to be some good gear in there if it was worth all this back and forth, she'd been itching to upgrade her axe.

But all Kris retrieved from its depths was a pale ribbon, dainty and shimmering in the forest's darkness. And now they—

* ... Kris.

Hard did her hand land on their shoulder, claws catching in their shawl as she took hold of it and shook them vigorously.

* DID WE WALK ALL THIS WAY SO YOU COULD FISH FOR COMPLIMENTS?!?

Kris was an infamously strange kid, their expressions alone always verging into an inappropriate amount of intensity compared to the situation at hand.

A smile with far too many teeth, mild disappointment blurring into outright devastation, anyone with even passing knowledge of them would be familiar with this fact.

Whoever stood before Susie now was a far cry from that kid. Their face maintained an unceasing neutrality even as she began to shout.

Things like this never rattled them before, but they usually made a point of showing it. It was almost a game the way they always threw her just enough of a reaction to fuel whatever tangent she'd charge at them with, that same playfulness painfully absent from the way they regarded her now.

[ * You feel like you should say something . . . ]

The way their mouth opened was strange, each movement painfully slow and uncertain.

[ * But no sound came. ]

They're starting to get the impression she thinks of them whenever she sees apples. The last time she brought up their hair was during some puzzle featuring the word, and the time before that she was in the middle of pilfering one from the teacher's desk. Now Kris was pulling an apple pie from the oven, crust arranged in such a way to resemble the fruit.

They weren't usually so fancy, far preferring to get any dessert oven-ready as soon as possible, but in a way they owed her. The last pie making session she was present for didn't exactly end well.

FIONNA AND CAKE STARTERS (Accepting).

Cue a long, hearable hum. It was not that he had not expected her question; it was obvious the monster was going to ask for something in exchange for her help. He just... had not come up with an offer yet. And he had been pondering about it even before finding her! Sooooo, she had been his first choice?

Pump needed to break into school, and urgently. He had not made the effort to explain why, but he could not wait until the following day. He could not just bank on Ms. Toriel being late to class. He also could not get Skid involved because, while he did not mind, he could not risk getting his best friend in trouble! So who else could have he asked but Susie? And so, there they were! Back in that one path.

The problem was that he only carried so many things in his person at all times, and most of them were off-limits! Well... except for some things, perhaps. For a moment, he looked reluctant.

He really, REALLY needed to get this over with by the end of the afternoon. And so, much to his chagrin, Pump made his offer: ❝ You can have my sour gummy worms. ❞ He LOVED those things so, needless to say, it physically pained him to do this. ❝ All of them. ❞ No strings attached.

As always, Kris went limp the moment their feet left the ground.

To anyone else, it probably looked like they were seconds away from getting shoved into the nearest locker and left for dead— or at least left to miss lunch, which was a fate undoubtedly worse than death.

But it was in the subtle differences. The way their head rose to meet her gaze, the undercurrent of curiosity beneath their typically vacant expression.

HAMMY'S POSTING. Sorry for no replies today!! After posting my AU lore synopsis yesterday I decided that I REALLY wanted to come up with my own Dark World Pump design too! I did not have much time to draw, though, especially since I take forever to finish something, so I used a turnaround Pelo showed as a base and drew my own outfit over it! Still inspired by this post but I decided to go down a different path. The smooth path. He was not meant to look like a magician but my non-RP friends pointed it out when I designing his outfit and I had to add the little top hat. Very Miitopia-esque (I had him as a Vampire in this game), but I SWEAR I was not going down that path at first!! I'll share some ideas I have for combat and general mechanics down below (on mobile tho', I'm writing this first part of this post on my laptop). It won't be as long as my last post, I swear!!

I have not drawn it yet but, since it feels too obvious NOT to use it, Pump's weapon of choice are hammers! And, yes, the Hometown equivalent are various toy and squeaky hammers found in his toybox. Sans what I like to call the "Fatherly Hammer", which is the Dark World equivalent of the hammer he carries in SM5 (which, as I have always said, is meant to be his father's). He would not get this weapon until WAY LATER into the plot, though, it would be too powerful. Most of these hammers likely would grant Pump the "Squeaky" ability which, in short, cause his attacks and ACTs to make a cute squeaky noise.

As for what the hammer looks like? I imagine it's a HUGE hammer, pretty much as big, if not bigger than Pump, so he has to wield it with both hands. When he FIGHTs, he jumps and smashes the hammer down, while DEFENDing will have him holding the hammer's head in front of him like an impromptu shield. Doing damage and taking damage will also cause squeaking when any of the squeaky hammers are EQUIPed.

Now, the meat and potatoes: ACTing. I like to think Skid and Pump are all about that sweet, SWEET teamwork, so the overwhelming majority of Pump's ACTs would include Skid just because. Here are a couple of examples me and @atechalk discussed and that I thought were cute!

SPOOKYSTACK usually just involves Skid getting on Pump's shoulders to scare the enemy. Normally, it might only cause them to skip a turn, but the effects can vary depending on who is the THIRD member in the party: Ralsei and Noelle are too sweet and nice, so no bonus effect; Kris, on the other hand, gives them a +spookiness bonus that MIGHT cause enemies to run away; and Susie not only does the same thing, but she's SO INTIMIDATING the enemies get +scariness and are guaranteed to flee.

SHARECANDY sounds and is what you get. Either Pump by himself, or Skid and Pump, share their candy to a target of their choice! It will make most common enemies happy-- BUT!! On each other or fellow party members, it will also increase their attack!! It could also heal a bit but, lol, the amount of HP restored would be minimum.

HOMEWORKHELP is also pretty self-explanatory. Skid and Pump can bore enemies into leaving the battle by asking them to help them with their daily homework! It is so boring, even, that if Susie is in the party she will fall asleep without even looking at the stuff (much like how Ralsei's LULLABY had that effect on her). It can also be used to tire out bosses and stranger enemies so they can be pacified by Ralsei afterwards.

Speaking of tiredness, much like it happens in SM, SPOOKYDANCE will have the kids force the enemy to dance with them!! Another, more fun way to tire out enemies so they can be pacified. It can also affect several enemies at once AS LONG as it is both Skid and Pump doing it. Yes, even their third party member, nobody is safe.

OUIJABOARD is extremely situational, as it can only be used when it is Skid and Pump in the party, no third party member. But it is exactly what it sounds like: they pull a Ouija Board out of thin air and summon a SPOOKY third party member (maybe Moloch? Who knows)!! It will take a huge amount of TP to pull off, and this party member would not be controlled by the player for the few turns it would stay on the field, but it would be a good way of spreading out damage in-between them.

These are most of the ones they can do TOGETHER, but I also have thought out some ACTs only Pump can choose to perform.

SKIDSLAM is pretty similar to Susie's THROWACT, but it involves Skid rolling into a ball, Pump picking him up, aiming and throwing his bestie at the enemy! If Ralsei is in the party instead however, this ACT is replaced by RALSEIFLING (which, needless to say, the goat did not even agree to do, but he is not the one making the choices here lmao). In a similar vein, if Susie is in the party, she can also perform THROWACT with Pump and his hammer!

MAGICTRICK is just that: Pump approached and pulls something out of the enemy's ear. The effect, however, can vary. In common enemies, it can be the classic coin or, if "unlucky", if will be a spider, which will spook the enemy and cause them to flee. There is a VERY SMALL CHANCE he will straight out pull his hammer, though, which will cause damage and a defense drop when dropped. In particular enemies, where this ACT is most effective, it would be an assortment of other things.

Pump's HP is not as high as Susie's, but it is still very high in comparison to other party members. This is why he can perform SHIELDACT, where he will stand in front of a chosen party member and take damage in their place for that turn. This one gets upgraded during a particular boss fight, but shhhh, spoilers. This ACT only affects Pump, so whoever he is shielding can still do their action that turn.

Last but not least, Pump's exposure to Eyes has made him capable of also CHECKing enemies. It is different from Kris' in the sense that Eyes will whisper extra information to Pump in the form of blue text. It can be weaknesses, it can be advice, or it can be something the enemy does not want anyone to know, who knows.

And that's most of what I have right now! I still have to play Ch.2, so who knows how much of this stuff would be POSSIBLE but, eh?? I like coming up with in-game concepts like these!
