Ateka are in the same order as apota, in a different family that has adapted to a more aquatic lifestyle. Their wings are proportionally smaller to decrease drag in water, but still large enough to enable flight over short distances.

well it's not exactly a question question but do you have little headcanons about the sullys and their respective relationships with the ikrans? because ofc we've seen a lot of spider's bond with guy (my beloved <3333), but for instance we haven't actually seen kiri and lo'ak's iknimayas so i was wondering if you had any thoughts about the others

YES!!!

I was upset that I didn't get to incorporate the last two Sully's iknimiyas but again, to my brain at the time there wasn't much point other than to mention Lo'ak having to try twice before 'Atek let him on.

I think Neteyam and Tisay are just the best duo. Their teamwork is on another level, and she cares for her rider so much. I mean, I think she's possibly the most protective of the bunch (besides Guy of course) but she knows that her rider can be a bit headstrong sometimes so she has to pull him back.

I think Atek thinks Lo'ak is an idiot. A dummy dumbhead who has very bad self preservation skills but he loves him anyway. But won't endorse any teasing or ribbing of the other ikrans without telling him off. Because he wants to be taken seriously by the others.

Kiri and her ikran are so chill. They'll just spend hours floating through the clouds together it's great. Her ikran also just walked up to her at her iknimiya and decided 'yep, you're mine no arguments'.

And I can just tell Tuk's is going to be as cheeky as she is XD.
