Teeny tiny second lead syndrome. I love Atom, he's such a sweet heart and he brought such a smile to Zen and such joy and they're so cute and, as we know, Zen has two hands.

Frank looked really good. Stop slapping wigs on that boy. He looked really handsome in ep 1 of The Rebound.

Coming from someone who tends to dislike finales, that was a pretty solid last episode. It tied up almost every plotline I cared about in a satisfying way. That being said, I do want to talk about my personal canon ending that ties up the one storyline I did feel unsatisfied with.

Spoilers for the finale under the cut

So the ZenRyu goodbye scene got me all kinds of fucked up. The tears onscreen were just a real and mine irl. However, I'm really sad that that's our last scene with Atom. He takes Zen to go sign the contract, and three months later Zen returns to tanwarin without any mention of Atom and what he's doing. Presumably he stayed in Phuket with the scholarship.

But that really saddens me. Not only did we not get any last acknowledgment of the RyuZenAtom squad (poly or not), but him staying in Phuket means he's still under his father's control. Where Ryu got the happy ending of freedom from his mother's control and learned to play basketball for himself, it's implied Atom got the bad ending where he's still his father's basketball puppet, being forced to start his life over again in a new town with no friends for his senior year. Despite having that heartwarming conversation with granny about it being okay to not have a dream and just do what you're good at, Atom never got the chance to learn you can still enjoy what you end up doing (through the power of friendship or whatever).

So here are some random events that could have happened that will be canon to me (not all necessarily at the same time, this is more like a choose your own adventure):

• Atom learns that Ryu is missing, and goes and rescues him

• Upon seeing how broken up RyuZen are about having to live apart, Atom tries to convince Scholarship Man to extend an extra place for Ryu too

• All 3 move to Phuket together and become and unstoppable basketball force through hs and college (and maybe kiss???👀)

• They consistently visit granny and help with the dessert business

• Alternatively, instead of heroically rescuing Ryu, Atom goes and helps convince Mommy Dearest to watch Ryu play once before shunning him to Europe

• Upon seeing RyuZen upset about having to part ways, Atom convinces Zen to take a chance and stay on the tanwarin team, in the hopes the board will change their mind since they made it to nationals.

• Atom gives a Big Fuck You to his dad, moves in with granny and Zen, and joins the Tanwarin team

• The three of them get scouted at nationals, setting the groundwork for their basketball futures

• (Maybe because of AtomZen living together, all three become closer and maybe kiss???👀👀)

It's how Ryu defends Jedi and protests group punishments but also how Atom sees Zen sad and takes him out to eat and talks until he smiles and that would be the most perfect throuple ever because we need justice and joy.
