today was one of the rare occurrences when both of your days off aligned together, which usually leads to staying at home or going out for a date - wherein today was the latter.

coming home with a big smile, your arms were full of popmart hirono blind boxes that you bought from your outing with jay.

of course, jay insisted he'd buy it for you, knowing how much you love to collect them, but you denied his offer, not wanting to spend any more of his hard earned money for your own hobbies.

granted, both your love languages are acts of service and gift giving.

within the entirety of your two years relationship with him, there was never a day where jay didn't spoil you rotten and treat you like royalty despite his busy schedule. wherein you reciprocated the same energy as him, sometimes more emotional when you defend him from antis or when he gets sick from overworking.

"if i don't get him today, im coming for him tomorrow," you jokingly say, placing the boxes on the coffee table of your apartment whilst sitting down on the floor.

jay chuckles, following suit to drop off the rest of the shopping bags right beside the couch. he sat down beside you, pulling you by the waist, settling his hand there, and his chin placed onto your shoulder.

he enjoys watching your reactions to these blind boxes you love so much. especially when your round eyes shine brightly, your dimples peeking through the smile.

he'd do anything to make sure nothing could harm your happiness - to protect you.

"lets unbox them together, love," you excitedly say, handing one of the boxes in his hand.

you also take one of the boxes for yourself, and begin to carefully unbox it. mentally praying the version you wanted finally comes home.

"im betting this is the one. I just have a strong gut," Jay says, wriggling his eyebrows in amusement. holding his box within eye level, trying to peek through the small opening he created. "and if it is, I'm keeping it as a trophy."

you gasp, stifling a laugh at his enthusiasm, "okaay, bet!"

"dont come crying to me, love," he teases before fully tearing the wrapper. he looks into the pouch jaw dropped, and his eyes widen with surprise.

you nervously look at him, anticipating from his reaction, "theres no way."

Jay looks at you and then back into the pouch, the corners of his lips slowly going up as he pulls the item out. that item being your most wanted on the collection list.

your jaw dropped, " no. fucking. way. BABE!"

jay laughs, holding the item up in the air in triumph with a smug look. "HAH, i knew it. I am the chosen one."

you laugh along with him, still in disbelief, "Oh my god, thats insane. you win."

"I told you, love. I am a lucky man," grinning, jay pulls you closer to sit on his lap, handing you the item as you admire it.

you give him a quick kiss on the cheek, "and i am one lucky lady to have you."

jay looks at you endearingly with a small smile.

his hand tilts your chin towards him, staring into your eyes with mischief.

he closes the distance between you, his lips placed on top of yours as his other hand firmly holds you closer by the waist. grounding the both of you in the kiss.

"im keeping this on my bag," he whispers, now trailing kisses on your jawline.

your heart flutters as he goes down further, the item in your hand now long forgotten on the floor.

both your hands grip on jay's shoulder as he continues marking you on your weak pulses with his kisses, "i'll carry your love around with me. and let the whole world know im yours."

you mewl on top of him, losing yourself to the heat between you.

jay smirks, loving the way you react to his touches. how easily you submit to him.

needless to say, photos of him with the item displayed on his bag went viral online. with fans curiously speculating if he bought it or someone gifted it to him. either way, jay walks around proudly, knowing he's matching with the love of his life with the item.

he walks to your apartment with a fresh set of bouquets, picked out with your favorite flowers. a little 'hirono the rose' item placed between in the middle with a note card saying, ' of course I love you '.

STRINGS OF FATE, chapter two

You take a deep breath before opening the door of your room, cookies in your hands. You look behind just to see Minjeong and Minju with a huge smile on their faces, their thumbs up for you. You nod and put a smile on your face, meanwhile the girls close the door, but you know they’ll be listening everything behind that.

Damn, this is harder than getting out of a pool, or a lake, or the beach on a really sunny day… okay, you’re getting lost in your thoughts. You try to smile in the nicest way possible and then you knock on your dormates door, hoping with all your heart that it will be Heeseung behind it and not his creepy friend.

But of course, luck is not on your side today, because the first thing you see when that door opens are two really deep and cold brown eyes, definitely not want you wanted to see. “Hi! uhm.. is.. is Heeseung inside?” Jungwon’s stare makes you highly uncomfortable, its like he’s looking at you up and down without actually putting any effort. And his shoulders are so broad you’re feeling claustrophobic just being next to him. “He’s not.”

His tone is even more intimidating, you nod and you’re about to decide wheter to just give him the cookies or wait for Heeseung to come back, but then you hear another voice. “Oi Jungwon who’s there.. Oh. Hi pretty princess.” you furrow your brows, confused as to why Jungwon would lie about Heeseung not being there, the youngest rolls his eyes when the purple haired boy pushes him away from the door.

“Hi! uhm.. i made these! since.. you know, i accidentally made you fall the other day,” you chuckle awkwardly. You’ve only ever seen Heeseung in photos, and wow, he is so, so much better in person. He’s tall, taller than Jungwon, taller than all your friends actually. And his smile is mesmerizing, you can feel your ears going red just by looking at him. He looks at you, then and the tray in your hands, then back at you, a smirk on his lips. “Thank you, princess..?”

“Oh. Y/n. Just Y/n, no need to call me princess” you laugh awkwardly once again, this time you can feel your whole face becoming red, and you’re starting to feel so hot. God, you’ve never seen a hotter man in your life. You give the tray of cookies to him, your fingers brush against each other and you can feel your heart beat faster. “And just to be sure uh, its probably going to happen again, so yeah.. be careful!”

He smiles again, and you want to die at that. You can’t crush on your dorm mate, which is the kid of a villain in the first place!! But.. to be fair, its just a crush, it won’t hurt anyone. “If that means i’ll see your pretty face more often, maybe i’ll fall on purpose next time.” you’re about to say something back, but before you can do it, you see Jungwon slam their door, giving you another one of those icy glances before the door closes. Pft. What a weirdo.

You met him during your first year of medical school, Park Jongseong. The student who attracted your attention while wearing the school's hideous scrub uniform. He was the class's eye candy, with his tall frame, broad shoulders, honeycomb skin, and sharp facial features.

Jongseong appeared unapproachable, intimidating, and scary, but he was the exact opposite. After a few conversations with him, he appeared to be a very entertaining person. He's the type who, after he's comfortable with you, will tease you to get a reaction because he enjoys watching you get flustered.

Park Jongseong was the kind of guy who paid attention to the smallest details. Park Jongseong was the guy who would carry your stuff without saying anything if you needed help. He was the guy who would offer to give you food first before himself.

It was really strange, to the point where it troubled you if these feelings were real - you were in denial. You didn't want to ruin anything, nor did you want to have false hope. So you kept the feelings to yourself. Giving it time, hoping it was just a silly little crush and that it would go away, but it never did. The more you denied your infatuation with him, the more it became obvious that you were in love. 

After a few occurrences with Jongseong, it became obvious in the friend group that both of you were attracted to each other. Especially since you confessed your infatuation with him, spontaneously deciding to rip the bandaid off, catching him off guard in a flustered state.

You informed him if he ever got uncomfortable you would stop your feelings for him, already half expecting him to reject you. He chuckled as he shook his head, "Don't worry. I'll be the first to tell you." Your heart fluttered as he stared into your eyes, his touches lingering a trail of butterflies. You wanted to ask him if he reciprocated your feelings, but the time never came to bring up the conversation. His statement gave you false hope in the end, which you already expected, given that he was older than you.

Not long after, the friends you made in medical school invited you to hang out again to drink and catch up after a few months of graduating. And now, here you are again, at his house, with the sudden announcement of his military deployment. Park Jongseong was leaving soon. He was leaving you with unresolved feelings. Leaving you in a state of uncertainty, questioning your relationship with him.

SERENITY: Schedule One

synopsis: Who knew ‘We Got Married’ would bring back the heat for this upcoming season with an “ACE” couple, let alone a couple who ended terms with each other before their debut. Would their old flame spark once more or would they pass each other instead? With the exciting news starring Lee Heeseung from ENHYPEN and Choi Areum from SERENITY, would the old lovebirds be able to show us their profound partnership through challenging missions under one roof?

[Ari POV]

"Congratulations ladies! You did amazing out there," Yui exclaims as we enter our dressing room, the stylists surprising us with confetti thrown into the air. We grin triumphantly, it was our fifth win for our comeback promotion 'Eyes On Me' from our tenth album ‘Yours Truly’. All those sleepless nights of producing the songs while on tour were definitely worthwhile seeing our fans enjoy our music. It’s always fun having to interact with them during pre-recording as they show us their undying love and support.

Jaemi, our leader, raises the trophy excitedly waving it in the air, "Our hard work is paying off! You know what calls for tonight~"

"Sleeping in?" I joke half-heartedly, earning a 'are you for real' look from Lihua. "What? I just miss my bed." I continue to pout.

“Anyways,” Hyejin continued, dismissing my joke as she shook her head, “Why don’t we celebrate by eating good tonight with delivery?”

“That sounds like a good idea. I’ve been craving fried chicken these past few days,” Lihua gestures to her stomach, rubbing it in circles. "We should also add tteokbokki and ramen to the order."

“Should we also go on Weverse for a bit?” I suggest, earning a nod of approval from our leader.

“We should, especially since we won an award today,” she said, “I’m sure they’d enjoy that. We can go on while we wait for delivery.”

"Since your promotions will be ending next week, I'll have the company request a short break for you girls soon after the scheduled activities. You've worked hard for the past year during the world tour. It's about time you deserve a break," Yui announces, quickly taking note of it on her phone. However, I doubt the company will even acknowledge how overworked we have been since the tour. Our fans, Aurora, have been active on social media platforms regarding the demand for a vacation to our company. I've noticed how tired my members are despite the facade we display for our audience. I'm worried that it will become too late and the public will be outraged by the company's neglect. I sigh, eventually, our voices will be heard before anything serious happens.

"Hopefully we'll be able to go somewhere with no cameras," Lihua said while removing her in-ear pieces, setting her mic down in its case. "I still need to go to Monaco from my bucket list. I need to see Lando at least once in my lifetime."

"Honestly, I doubt that. We've been the hot topics for news articles since last year," Hyejin states, quickly dismissing our hopes of privacy. "Especially since all eyes are on us during promotions."

"If only these paparazzi could leave us alone, we'd get a sense of peace of mind," I interject, my hair stylist quickly adjusts my hair for our photo to be taken soon for our twitter page.

"Maybe one day there will be world peace," Jaemi counters with a shrug. "Should we head out soon to take our photos?"

"Whoever is done touching up can take their solo selfies first," Yui announces, "We do have a dance challenge with a few groups today."

"Alright, I'm taking off first then," Lihua raises from her seat, quickly taking her phone and trophy in hand, with quick snaps on the camera roll with a variety of different angles and poses.

"I'll favorite the ones I like," Jaemi announced as it was her turn to take photos with the trophy.

"Which groups are we doing the dance challenge with again?" I ask, tilting my phone upwards with the trophy by my face. I smiled, quickly giving different types of facial expressions on camera.

"We'll be with Stray Kids and SEVENTEEN today," Hyejin answers before taking photos of herself.

"Ohh, that means Lihua gets to be with her boyfriend~" Jaemi teases as she nudges by her side.

Lihua shakes her head with a smile, "Don't get me started with you now."

Jaemi laughs, her brows raised in response, "I'm just saying, I'm glad that our fandoms were happy for you and Mingyu. Shoot, I was scared when the company officially announced your relationship with Mingyu."

"Oh shush, don't remind me. We were both in a pickle at the time," with a groan, Lihua pinches Jaemi on her side. "Knowing our fandoms, they're very respectful and considerate to us."

About six months ago before our world tour began, Mingyu and Lihua were caught by paparazzi during one of their late-night dates which caused a stir in the industry. Not long after the release of their article scandal, causing distress to some netizens regarding their relationship status, our company made an official announcement confirming their relationship to the world and that they’ve been an item for over a year. Of course, not everyone was pleased to hear the exciting news from the agency, but that didn’t stop the couple from showing their affection for one another, which quickly gained massive support from both fandoms and non-fans. Now, they’re known as the “VISUAL CHEFZ” couple, earning the nickname from their fandoms.

"Alright ladies, let's take the group photo now," Yui interjects their banter, catching our divided attention to our manager. "Go out the halls and take the photos by the stairs. Let's go."

"Yes ma'am," we all say in unison, walking out of our room together.

"Thanks for your hard work," the girls, Lihua and Hyejin, bow towards Mingyu and Soonyoung after quickly finishing the dance challenge for each other's promotions with the approval nod of our manager.

“Congratulations again on winning!” Mingyu grinned sheepishly, opening his arms for Lihua, which she returned with a hug. If this man isn’t the most obvious person on earth, he is so love-struck for Lihua. I chuckle at his demeanor towards her. It’s so cute looking at their interactions.

Do you want to know the story of how it all started for the couple? I'd say it was all due to us playing Cupid, by 'us' I mean Soonyoung and I. We became close after doing a couple of dance challenges together, with him quickly adding me to one of his group chats with other dancers.

I was shocked to see a text message from him one day, asking me about Lihua, which I assumed Soonyoung wanted to be more than just friends. Turns out it was actually Mingyu who wanted to get close to her.

From passing each other through the company hallways to doing dance challenges together, Mingyu finally received the courage to ask Lihua for her phone number.

I look towards Soonyoung who also glanced towards me with his eyebrows raised, a playful glint in his eyes. "Oh boy," I muttered under my breath, "Here comes trouble." Soonyoung tilted his head toward the couple who was too busy in their own world to acknowledge his presence as he slowly crept up to them, or rather Mingyu specifically. Soonyoung bumps into Mingyu from behind, sending him to corner Lihua on the wall with his arms trapping her in between. She looks up with a surprised look as Mingyu briefly apologizes to her with a quick kiss on the cheek, quickly chasing down a mischievous hamster down the halls. Ah, I can’t wait to relax and finally be in bed.

"Wait a minute," I say, trying to digest the announcement coming from my manager Yui, "So, what you're trying to say is that the reality show I'm selected for is We Got Married."

I stood up from my couch in disbelief, "You're kidding with me right?" I say, my eyes pleading for Yui to say it was a prank. My streak of not getting into a dating scandal quickly crumbles down the drain. Knowing how dispatch and the netizens react, they'll automatically assume one of us is in a relationship or spread rumors like usual. "I can't get out of this can I?"

"Oh honey, I wish it was. The director personally chose you as the next star to go on." Yui states, giving me an apologetic look. "You'll have to sign the contract tomorrow first thing at the company. The director will have a brief meeting with you in the morning." Ah, I wish I was in Monaco instead of being here.

After introductions, the two stood awkwardly, looking anywhere in the room besides each other. The silence was deafening even for the crew behind the cameras.

Ari contemplated whether or not to take the lead for the show, although she doubts it would make it less awkward.

Thankfully, the producer gave them a note card with instructions written inside. Wherein the two read the card together with Ari reading the descriptions out loud.

'First decide on which rooms you'll take. Once you've settled in, your first mission together will be getting to know each other through challenging games.'

"Oh? We get to choose our rooms?" Heeseung asks excitedly, breaking the awkward tension in the air. "How would you like to decide this, Ari?"

"Shall we check the rooms upstairs first and then decide with 'rock, paper, scissors,?" Ari gestures, remembering how Heeseung often plays when it comes to making decisions.

"That's not bad, okay let's go."

In agreement, the two turned their heels and began to walk up the stairs with Heeseung leading them.

At the top of the stairs came across three bedroom doors. The first door on the left had a balcony overlooking the backyard view. The bedroom was decorated in cozy, warm tone colors while the other bedroom across the hall had more neutral dark tones but still gave its cozy effect. Each room had enough space to fit a two-seater sofa, a desk area, and a built-in tv on the wall.

After exploring the rooms together, the two began to compete with each other to decide who would pick their rooms first in the hallway.

"Ahh, I'm so bad at games. Especially rock, paper, scissors." Ari cried out, mentally preparing herself for the game.

"It's all by luck! Come on, Ari." Heeseung chuckles, trying to enlighten her mood.

With a hesitant look, Ari nodded defeatedly. "Okay, let's get this over with. I want that room."

“Which room?”

“The one with the bal- wait you’re not trying to steal it right??” Ari realizes halfway, her eyes narrowed on Heeseung as he tried to stifle a laugh.

“What? No! I would never do such thing. Who do you take me for?”

“Lee Heeseung, I know you.”

“What do you mean? Besides, it’s technically not stealing if you didn’t claim it yet-“

“Yah!”

“I’m just kidding! I swear-“ Heeseung laughs at Ari’s reaction. “It’s so fun messing with you.”

“Oh shush, let’s settle this once and for all,” she huffs as they finally start the game.

“Rock.”

“Paper.”

“Scissors-“

“…”

“YESS!! LETS GOOO WOOOHOO”

“…”

The camera pans to Heeseung standing in the hallway in disbelief as Ari jumps in joy, her hand formed in a ‘rock’ as Heeseung’s was ‘scissors’.

“There’s no way,” Heeseung mutters, staring at his hand then towards Ari, “She actually beat me??”

“FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE IM A WINNER,” Ari cheerfully exclaims.

“I need a rematch, Ari!” Heeseung groans, “C’mere!”

“Nuh-uh. Snooze you lose, loser,” Ari jokes.

Ari raises her hand, faced one of the hallway cameras and announced, “I, Ari, choose the room with the balcony. Thank you very much.”

“I can’t believe this,” Heeseung groans defeatedly, “That’s the first time she ever won against me too.”

“Won’t be the last either,” Ari pokes her tongue out as she opens her new room and enters, leaving Heeseung in the hallway accepting his defeat.

“Soo,” Lihua begins, nudging my shoulders as she grabbed a chicken from the takeout box, “When were you going to tell us you were getting married?”

I glanced at her wide in shock, “Who told you??” Though I figured my group members would’ve known by now. They usually know everything before me, well the leader and oldest member.

“A little birdie told me,” Lihua’s brows raised, grinning towards our leader. Of course, I forgot she had the first notice from our manager.

I groan, slumping in my seat as we continued watching a horror movie as we ate our dinner. We concluded our Weverse live stream waiting for our food to get delivered forty minutes ago. It was past midnight, our movie closing in to an end, our food halfway finished as we talked in our living room.

“Our maknae is going away,” Jaemi jokes, wiping a fake tear. “We finally have peace at the dorms.”

I rolled my eyes at her as the members laughed along. Our manager chuckling as she watches us banter. “I can never catch a break from you guys.”

“We will though,” Hyejin retorts, finishing up her ramen as she focused on the television screen.

“Come on, you don’t think you’ll miss me?” I said, looking at my members face with my puppy eyes, well I tried.

“Nope,” they all said in unison, laughing their butts off with my misery. Yui spares me a glance as she stops laughing, giving me a reassuring pat on my shoulder. Ahh, I don’t think I’m ready to be sent away from my own safe space, especially going away from my dog Yuki. She is a four-year-old female Samoyed. I took her in when I figured I needed a companion that’s different from family members and friends, someone with who I can share my concerns and happiness with ease even if I don’t get a proper response. I’m happy to have Yuki by my side. She’s kept me sane these past years even during hard times.

“I’m so not missing you guys,” I pout, petting my dog’s head resting on my lap. “I will miss my baby Yuki though.”

“Is it not possible to take her with you?” Hyejin asks, gesturing to Yuki who is calmly sleeping throughout our bickering.

“I’m not too sure.. I think I have to ask the director.” I reply, “If I can’t take her with me, I’ll leave her with my parents for now.”

“That’s good. I’m sure she misses her grandparents more than you.” Jaemi jokes, ruffling my hair in the process.

I huffed, slapping her hand in the process, “Oh whatever. Let’s just focus on the movie ending.”

“Let’s hope our maknae ends up with a nice guy,” Lihua says, trying to enlighten the mood. “Maybe once the show is over, you’ll actually be in a relationship with him.”

“Hmm, who knows.. If he ever tries to play with your feelings, you have us as your protectors.” Jaemi said gesturing to shadow box the air.

“If he ever thinks about messing with one of us,” Yui clicks her tongue, shaking her head. “He’s got a bad rep with all of us.”

“Did any of your friends mention being on the show recently?” Hyejin asks me, taking a bite of the fried chicken in her hand.

“Not that I know of,” I sigh, trying to remember our past conversations in the group chats. “Even if they did, they’d probably kept it as a surprise.”

[HYBE Building]

“By any chance, do you know who will be my partner?” I ask Yui as we walked down the hallways to one of the meeting rooms.

“I’m not informed yet,” Yui chuckles, “Are you anxious to meet your partner of a few months?”

“I need to know if he’s a person I’m aquatinted with,” I say, “It’d be great to have a good person.”

“Hopefully they’re a good guy and not some creep,” Yui shakes her head, “You know what to do if they make you uncomfortable right?”

“Of course I do.” We looked at each other briefly before turning into the corner. I follow Yui behind as we both stop in front of a door with a sign beside it “Conference 4-1”. She knocks on it before opening and peaks her head in.

“Hello Director,” Yui greets with a smile, “I have your star of the show.”

“Welcome, thank you for coming in today,” the director smiles, standing up from her seat to greet us. I smile, taking her hand with a firm shake as I bow. “Please take a seat. It’s so great to finally meet you.”

Within thirty minutes of discussion, the director gave me the contract to look over the terms and conditions for the show. I scanned through the form, briefly going over them and signed my name.

The director informed me my partner would stay anonymous until our first encounter the day of shooting. She hasn’t given me any hints as much as I asked her throughout our conversation. I’m assuming she wants our reaction to be genuine along with the audiences and hosts.

Starting the next two weeks I’ll be leaving the dorms for three months for the show, luckily I’m able to attend the work schedules, accomodating to the time. Unfortunately, I’ll be separated from Yuki as I’m unable to bring her with me for the show, although they allowed Yuki to make a brief appearance for one of the episodes.

Saying our final goodbyes with each other, we continued our day to the schedule, meaning the girls and I would be getting ready for our last day promotions at Music Bank.
