Ever since I followed this blog and seeing your crimson art and stuff..I've become more attuned to the crimson( witch I use to hate) Thank you???????
Why, you’re welcome!
I mean, it’s SUCH a given, the Crimson is ENTIRELY superior to the Corruption, there isn’t even a CONTEST.

...I mean, unless, you’re, like...
...a magic-user...

...then you’re outta luck.

Hey! I was looking through your blog (bit creepy I know) and I saw one of your characters named Auraion and honestly she looks and sounds awesome! What's her whole deal? Hope you don't mind my asking!
I don’t mind at all! Honestly happy there’s interest, haha. I don’t find it that creepy. Thank you!
Sadly… this is kinda a tough one to go in full depth, though honestly most of her pertinent info is actually on my Terraria character list; while she’s effectively original, she just kinda lives there (like Daimera) in her off-time. More in-world info for her WOULD be on my headworld blog but it’s, uh… kinda… shut down. Which is what makes it difficult to go more in-depth for anything that’s not tied to her Terrarian origins.
Her meta backstory is that I’d hit ‘random’ for a Terraria character to play an adventure map with my friends (the pink/purple and blue colorscheme led me to naming her after the glowing blue and purple Thinking Putties, Aura and Ion. !!CREATIVITY!!). After we finished the map, I decided to keep her mage loadout from it, but also took her around to my main world and stole a bunch of extra magic gear that I’d collected from my main playthrough with Dai, so I decided to characterize her as a thief, but also a scholar on the account that she’s a practitioner of magic.
After a while I just decided to make her vague concept into a more fleshed-out character tied with my headworld mess, but left her in Terraria because she has nothing better to do.
For a while, I was going to make her Actually A Dragon, but decided to go with a more illithid approach on the account of her taking to wiping people’s memories to protect the library (plus, being the servant of a mysterious eldritch thing).
Along the way, when I took a short dive back into Magic: The Gathering, I made an Izzet deck full of annoying low-cost cards and decided that was her pre-Ambkryp-pact magic style, but also threw in a single Consuming Aberration and a few tap-for-any-color artifacts in order to get it out... that was so much fun that I eventually switched her theme deck to full-on Dimir for EDH with Wrexial as the Commander. Fun ensued. I know mill isn’t good in EDH but it’s hilarious.
Her early 5-eye layout plus squidface paralleling that of the Moon Lord is completely coincidental, considering her old 5-eye look predates the Moon Lord by almost three years, haha.

Salutations. I just wanted to day that I love your work and that you're one of the people who inspired me to start drawing Terraria fanart.
Hey, cool, thanks a lot! I’m always glad to hear I’m inspiring people!
I haven’t been too active on the answering questions front because of stuff, and art in general is kind of on hold for a tiny bit while I unwind from PAX and do all the necessary entropy damage control that comes with leaving things alone for four days.
There are also some other Asks in my box (some of which aren’t Anon) that I may just not answer because I really don’t know how to answer them. If you have a question or random comment that goes unanswered, I’m sorry! I’m not mad or trying to be rude or anything, sometimes I just can’t think of a response!
In the meantime, some additional answers to a bunch of Anon messages!:
Tumblr media
Thanks a bunch! These always make my day, even if I don’t necessarily respond to them all, but they make me very happy!
Tumblr media
The playmat is currently on hold because fully-realized backgrounds make me feel like I’m gonna have an aneurysm, but I still would really like to do something along those lines. I’m still not entirely sure if the direction I’d started is the direction I necessarily want to go...
Tumblr media
Pretty much the entire point! 83c Thanks!
Tumblr media
Thank you!
Writing is something I actually do very frequently, I just don’t share it that much since a lot of it is original and I have qualms with sharing that for the time being.
I also RPed with other writers for yeeears (though I don’t do much of it now), so I got a lot of practice, haha.
Tumblr media
Thanks! Haha, don’t worry, I don’t feel pressured to work on this, it’s actually really fun! I just write all out of order, so getting the next chapter is slow because I’ve been slowing filling ALL of them out as scenes from my outline spring to mind.  I actually have about 90% of the LAST chapter done already! It’s ridiculous! I REALLY WANT TO SHARE IT BUT I CAN’T IT’S AWFUL
Tumblr media
Many, many pieces.
As for the guide... you’d be surprised how tolerant a guy with his level of influence and control could be...
Thank you for the kind words, coming up with practical descriptions for things in such an impractical and nonsensical game is one of my favorite things about Terraria!
Tumblr media
Suspicions are good! I’m glad they’re suspicious! They’re actually telegraphed if you know where to look, especially compared to other characters that aren’t involved who may or may not have very similar conventions.
The only one I’ll shoot down is Aura is definitely not Auraion, who is sourced to a veeery different setting of mine and just happens to hang out in Terraria. Not that anyone has said anything about that (and I’ve seen some speculation in tags, which I won’t say whether or not they are right or not but it’s a good sign!), but it was something that bothered me a little the more I wrote; I chose Aura’s name for other reasons...

AA(anxiety anon)-I love textwalls and art equally. It's always fascinating to hear about your version(??? would that be the correct term?) of Terraria. :) Expanding on the other anon-do you think any of the Starfallen could become genuine friends with the Player, or would they more see them as a means to an end forever? (Also, something that just occurred to me-do you consider your own player characters and NPCs to exist in the same world? Or are they separate in your mind?)
I see you are picking up the curse of the As. :V
Yeah, I think ‘version’ would be an appropriate term, haha.
Anyway, it’s all good, and thanks for the continued support! I do honestly like writing stuff and embellishing on things and am always up for a little bit of worldbuilding no matter what mood I’m in.
Aberrant could certainly become friends with the player, and Anomaly would be able to fake it REALLY well if that’s what you really want. Abomination wouldn’t, though, being little more than a huge jerk. Incidentally, despite not really being part of the group, Excelsior could genuinely befriend the player as well (I have some asks directed at him, they’re on the to-be-arted list).
And yes, all my player characters and NPCs do exist in the same world, but it’s a big world. I just like to tie everything together. Here’s an example of my character interconnections in WoW, which I’d made to illustrate just how far I tend to go with this stuff if given the opportunity and motivation. I do this with pretty much the entirety of my original headworld. I mean, mentally interconnecting everything, not physically c-mapping it all. I tried once. It didn’t end well.
Technically, Daimera is still the main player character of my world (even if I haven’t played her since late-1.2, but technically her canon gear setup isn’t even endgame; it’s Frost-Themed-Everything), so the Starfallen NPC group centers around her as if her ‘game’ was the only one running (hard to explain, bear with me), and she’s friends with Aberrant. I was originally just going to recreate her for playthroughs every time new versions came out, but just enjoyed making new characters with fun vanity combos more. She’s just the local Mega-Sue (even if Arbeh is technically the only “acendeded hero” who has completed everything, but he’s also a giant conceited wanker and nobody likes him).
Not all of the other characters know everyone else in passing or by interconnection, they’re just spread out across the same world, and they all COULD run into one another, but do so only rarely (though there are some clusters of characters in closer proximity to one another than others, the main sets being: Daimera, Arbeh, and Aaarrrgg; Arynna and Arlene, and Aspen; Audrey, Gwys, and Apiara. Auraion travels all over and steals from anyone who has artifacts they won’t miss, but is most well-known to Dai, Arbeh, and Gwys, as they tend to do the most actual work obtaining spares of anything)

AA-Aw, I like Arbeh. :P Cool monster people are my jam. Anyway, thank you very much! Also, the fact that you manage to keep all those characters straight is /mind-boggling/. I thought I had a lot of characters. XD (I'm glad you've decided to keep making new characters, they're honestly some of the most fascinating I've come across. Inspires me to make my own better. XD)
Haha, wow, thank you! I wouldn’t call it keeping them straight per-se, I just write as much down as I can, but once in a while things shuffle a bit as I return to them. I can’t attend them all at once, and changes here and there do tend to ripple a bit over time, which is why keeping written records is so valuable, even if they’re just small summaries or notes or even conversations I’ve had about them. What can I say, I’m a pack-rat!
Also, you are fully entitled to like Arbeh as a character (I mean, I do, too!), but within the context of the setting, he is literally one of the worst people personality-wise because he let all that power he got really get to his already-oversized head, hahaha.
As such, none of the other characters like him; he won’t attack anyone, sure, but he basically views everyone as below him, and has zero qualms with ruining the native environment for fun or to amass materials to terraform or build whatever he wants, wherever he wants. He’s basically the uncaring and unscrupulous player archetype. The grinder, the overacheiver, etc. Everyone who’s had to survive and climb the trophic web of Terraria’s world has started with shades of that, but he really embraced it once everything was over and done.
On the *fingerquotes* plus-side, he tends to leave other settlers alone and just sort of enjoys flaunting his deific status rather than using it to boss people around or claim anyone is indebted to him. After all, what could anyone else possibly give him? He gets more joy out of breeding begrudging resentment than genuine admiration because he’d spent so much time being an underappreciated menial laborer before all this happened.
Hell, he even helps others with his amassed wealth of resources and artifacts, but it’s always with such overwhelming pretension that the only person who doesn’t deeply detest him coming around and going “aw, little adventurer having trouble? WHY LET ME HELP YOU WITH ZERO EFFORT HAHA I’M SO AWESOME LOOK AT ME BEING A GOD WHO’S BETTER THAN YOU” is Auraion (who steals from him rather than letting him patronize her), and maybe Aaarrrgg (whose mindset is too alien to really understand the social implications).
And in case anyone’d wonder... The Starfallen are scared of him. He’s too amoral for Aberrant to trust, Abomination knows it can’t rely on him to keep a pact because he’s too powerful and conceited to honor one, and Anomaly figures that a guy who’s powerful enough to have the means to repeatedly resummon and kill the Moon Lord for fun and profit is probably too much trouble to attempt to Awaken around and therefore keeps a low profile.

Decided to make a new, more techy ship for Auraion, rather than one that looks so obviously made out of bricks. Materials are crystal block, luminite brick , martian conduit plating, sapphire gemspark, shroomite plating, living ultrabright fire, and meteor furniture (painted blue and sky blue).
I usually over-light things made with martian conduit, but if you leave it slightly darkened, it has a really neat pulsing effect.

A BUNCH of ‘builds’ I finally got around to grabbing with Capture Mode. Most of these were modified in TEdit at one point, especially to put them all in one world to collect them.
First one was mostly-done by hand back before 1.1 came around, I only added a few wall variations and threw in the small temple room with TEdit later.
Second one was a 1.1 base done by hand, though I moved it semi-underground on the builds map and then added the Halloween house from the 1.2 Multiplayer map since there was room for it.
Auraion’s Library, a misc underwater temple thing, and Doing Things The Hard Way, done in TEdit.
An old collection of by-hand builds from just-pre-1.1, that I tweaked/added to in TEdit later.
The entire 1.2 Multiplayer base.
A hand-built church from 1.1.1, right when snow was first introduced. Added pearlwood furniture and new torches later.
A ‘hidden’ underground church made in TEdit for a weird ‘it’s a trap’ map where I occasionally harried some friends playing a from-scratch game as an endgame character with PvP turned on, lol. This was my base.
A TEdit thing from that same map where I basically hid a “city of gold”-style biome on the trap map. I’d hid a lot of strange things on that map in TEdit in hopes that my friends would find them, but they never did haha.
