Argh, I've had this bungee cord office chair for almost 11 years, and I really want a new one but they're no cheaper than $180 now?? I can't imagine having spent more than $70-80 when I originally got it.

It's not broken, the hydraulics just stopped working well about 3 years ago and now it's insanely shaky and squeaky and the weld holding the chair up seems to be cracking a little... So I definitely need a new computer chair soon because I don't want to be without one if this one decides to snap one day.

I just don't know if $180 is worth it knowing this chair lasted as long as it did (esp considering I'm not light, fluctuating in the range of 190lbs), or if I risk switching it up... Plus, there's always the chance that even if I buy another one from the same place, the build will be weaker since so many companies seem to be cutting corners to save money whilst still charging more these days.

TBH, I feel like the most important aspect of this one is that the bungee along the bottom makes the seat breathable, but also flexible and sturdy; most chairs with a breathable seat look like they're made of very thin mesh that'll shred in just over a year of regular use.

So, with the advent of 1.5, I'm going to retire work on In Its Image.

It's not that I don't like it, but adjustments to bring it more in line with the new canon would take too much effort. I'm still very happy with what I got done with it given the environment it was written in, so I'll leave it up for archival purposes, but I don't think I'll continue to work on it unless there's a very specific increase in interest.

What I do have is a new little gameified 'story' of sorts. It's a lot shorter than 3I was, so it's easier to digest.

It takes 1.5's tone a bit more into consideration, along with adjusting the 'mechanics' to be more in line with how things are done in 1.5, taking notes from Tickle in partic(k)ular; bundling gameplay changes into a status effect, rather than equipment.

I might add more interactions, or alter existing ones if ideas come to me, but it's essentially complete as-is.

I'm trying to find the stream where Frankie talks about recruit Lyle's abilities and I found this instead, you're welcome.

How do you think Lyle would play if he was recruitable?

I've actually attended a dev stream where Frankie explained that a big reason recruitable Lyle was cut was because his playstyle was too complicated to work out in a short period of time. It revolved around stealing enemies' souls, but there was no elaboration past that. It was eventually baked into his Game Over as an artifact of what he was supposed to do as an ally, from what I remember.

I'd rather not theorize how that would work, since recruitable Lyle is one of the things on the table for what might be added to the game in 2.0, but Frankie was sure to indicate that it's not a guarantee, so he doesn't want people getting their hopes up too much, and will probably be more tight-lipped about 2.0 development than 1.5, to prevent spoilers from breaching containment like what happened with 1.5. There are simply too many ideas to feasibly finish in the amount of time they have to do it (hopefully by Halloween), so the cutting board is quite full, but it sounds like they're very excited for the things they have in store.

We just need to be patient.

1.5 was in public beta for a bit (I was notified of this development on June 4th, being one of the... ah... more active Spine fans), and that particular piece of information got circulated around during the beta period, and even so it mostly just made its rounds in the Discord and Tumblr circles. From the sound of it on stream, it wasn't common knowledge outside of that.

It was only officially released in full to the broader public on the 19th, so seeing other people react to that reveal has been amusing, to say the least.

Anything about Spine's speculated gender before that was purely headcanon stuff.

Ohhhh, I get why Verminator's 'drop' gives me cartoon intro vibes. For some reason my brain was reading "90s/2000s" because that's where most of my formative cartoon-watching occurred, but I think it's really because the bells used in it actually itches the part of my brain that recalls the Gravity Falls theme.

Neat song! Not my cup of tea, personally, but I can definitely see which lines are very Spine-core, even if the song itself leans way more to cybernetic conversion than remaking flesh into flesh. It very much rings more to her toxic side for sure.

Does make for an interesting thought experiment of "What if Look Outside, but sci-fi, aboard a station/spacecraft".
