open, for anyone. location, near the whomping willow.
"come to witness mine and lestrange's duel?" willow wonders aloud at the sound of nearing footsteps, not much worry that it's some professor or auror on patrol, since they're absolutely certain they'll be able to play it off as some sort of jest. there's no staff presence in the aurelius group chat, so there's not much of a chance that they'll be aware of the duel to take place out of lottie's decision to pick a fight with them. "you won't be here long, if so. i have a feeling there's not much more to her brain than the billywigs flying around in there."

[ open ] located at . . . the astronomy tower
ripley had noticed them the moment they arrived. she had been tucked away against the corner of the deck when they’d come up over to the railing several feet away. it’s not like the astronomy tower was much of a secret - in fact, she found herself having to leave when someone decided to make it their makeout spot on the days there were no classes. still, it was midday, so the place was generally empty then. it was the first place she’d settled into on her earliest days in aurelius, so despite its rather popular status, she had a soft spot for it. “you know, if you stick your head out any further, you could end up falling,” ripley finally said, her voice soft but hopefully loud enough since no one else was here. she had no idea what kind of conversation starter this was, but she supposed she couldn’t back out at this point. her tone wasn’t anything harsh at least, it was maybe even lighthearted - joking, almost. “i don’t want to end up being a witness to an accident.”

percy wanted to keep a low profile, as much as possible since the events from this day. to his study session being ruined, to getting into a fight, the weasley wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole. however, even percy had those moments where he could admit he needed help, especially medical. so he sat outside the office patiently, suddenly hearing someone else entering the room and regained his composure. “they’re a bit busy today. it’ll be a while. lots of accidents, it seems.”

open to: everyone location: transfiguration courtyard
"sometimes people tell you that something can't be set on fire, and they tell you this because they think it will stop you from trying to set it on fire," effie looked down at the burnt remains of what had once been a particularly ugly tapestry which had hung in her dorm room. "I, personally, have found that in those situations it is best to try and set that thing on fire anyway, just to check." her grin was perhaps verging on unsettling but that was overwhelmed by the clear pride she felt, and the honest belief she was imparting crucial wisdom to her fellow student.

status: open muse: seamus & whomever location: by the magical keg stand somewhere <3
❝ here ya go, ❞ seamus clambers away from the crowd and toward his current drinkless companion that he's chosen to pester for the time being. his movements lack any source of grace as he near stumbles over his own feet in an attempt to reach the other, but seamus tells himself it's the enthusiasm that matters. ❝ noticed you lacked a bevvy so i took it upon meself to change that. you're welcome, really, ❞ he jokes playfully as takes a seat down on the shore and scoots closer so he can hear better over the music. ❝ but as i was sayin' — er'body already has these tiny dragons, yeah ?? what if we, like, collect 'em all and unionize 'em. or even d'you think we could morph all these tiny babes into one big dragon ?? set 'em loose on peeves ?? ❞ the chaos of it all brings a look of awe on his expression as the mere ( inebriated ) thought of a large dragon at aurelius seems awesome.

where: great hall, any table that isn’t slytherin’
who: anyone
Despite her best efforts to blend in, Orion was not great at it. She had spent her entire life trying to hide from the rest of the world and for once she wished that this was one of those times where it had worked. But today was not her day, Orion chanced a glance up as she sipped her tea. “Look, I’m aware you don’t know me, but can you just pretend I belong at this table for like two seconds?”

OPEN
location: one of the aurelius courtyards It was oddly warm outside. Strange, considering that they were at the brink of December and that there was a lingering chill in the air since the news about Madam Rosmerta's death came out. Over the past days, Colin regretted not getting off-campus housing. Every step he took around the castle these days and nights, he felt such a pervasive lump in his throat that left him constantly uneasy and unsettled.
Tonight, Colin sat on a stone bench in one of Aurelius’s many courtyards. A beautiful ragdoll sat at the edge of the bench, fast asleep. The sky was darkening, cool purple mingled in with a dark blue that was fading into a black. Only flecks of orange were present. He sat at the furthest part of the courtyard, away arches that led into the castle. He had his legs extended out in front of him on the bench, his back against a pillar. One of his hands had its fingers curled around a cigarette while the other hand was pinching the edge of a textbook. Though, Colin hadn’t turned a page in that book for the last fifteen minutes. As much as he was trying to read, and grasp the abundance of knowledge in there, Colin couldn’t focus on the pages in front of him. His mind was clearly somewhere else and he wondered if it made sense just to call it quits and pull out papers to review for the Aurelius Tribune instead. There was so much to fucking do. These were the moments that Colin missed in childhood. He just needed a break. But didn’t everyone? Colin’s thoughts, thoughts that had nothing to do with the intricacies of how two-way mirrors worked, were disrupted by the movement that he caught in the corner of his eyes. Colin looked up to see who was approaching him. Zelda, the cat by Colin’s feet, stirred a little as well - peeking her inquisitive blue eyes open slightly, but just as quickly fell back asleep. Colin straightened up a little and nodded his head in greeting at the figure approaching his vicinity. "Hey."

* 𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 : viaduct courtyard , aurelius institute. near a food tent at the start of the term festival.
↳ ⸻ open starter ( no cap for now ! ) .
licking the remnants of a treacle tart from his fingertips , the smile he offered the other was just as sweet ; crumbs dotting here and there in proof of just how much he’d enjoyed the treats. while he hadn’t expected to end the night happily bloated and curled up on one of the picnic blankets being passed out by house elves , there was also nowhere else he rather would be.
❛ no , no. y'gotta eat the last one. i swear m'gonna have to roll back to th'commons if i have another bite. ❜ sipping at his chilled milk , there was a contentness to the way he leaned back on his elbows ; easy and relaxed in a way he hadn't felt in weeks. ❛ or , y'know what ?? i might just pass out here instead ━━ s'comfortable enough. ❜

who; open where; the library
Rolling her eyes, Freya dropped the newspaper onto the library table in front of her and shook her head. “Another dreadful lineup of Minister candidates, of course. At least according to what I’ve read so far about them all in the newspapers.” It was also so typical that not a single one of the candidates was a witch. It was about time to have a woman in charge — maybe then things wouldn’t be such a mess in the Ministry. “Maybe I should have told Mum to try and run,” she said sardonically, laughing at the very idea.

setting, black lake party, near the drinks table. open, to anyone in aurelius ! ♡
harry had debated with himself on whether to even attend tonight's festivities, knowing who the party was dedicated to and the fact that the prat would definitely be there, but harry just couldn't resist a party ( and an opportunity to piss malfoy off. ) not that alphie would've let him skip it anyways, but still. he's loathe to admit that it's actually been pretty fun so far, the little dragons a fantastic party gift, and giving harry plenty of entertainment thus far. he's currently attempting to toss a little piece of prosciutto into his little dragon's mouth, cheering when the creature dives through the air to catch it, a breathless grin still spread across his face when he notices someone near him watching the display. “ y'know, these little lads almost make me wish i'd gone into dragonology instead of auror training, ” he sighs as he takes the dragon into his palm, inspecting it as it chews on the snack he gave to it, before shaking his head fondly as it begins to look up at him expectantly.

setting: start of term festival. afternoon. open.
cal never left. he doesn't go home for the holidays anymore, and dumbledore has finally stopped fighting his request to stay during summer break as well as winter. he's got a reading list to get through and dealing with his parents all summer in bulgaria was not something he looked forward to. so, while the other student seemed to stumble around in wonder, re-learning the never-ending quirks of aurelius, cal was as sure-footed as always as he was decidedly leaving the festival. in his haste to retreat, he bumped into someone. he was raised as a gentleman, after all. so even though he scoffed dramatically at the sound of their drink falling to the ground, he stopped with an apologetic smile. "my apologies," he said as he steadied the other student, "i'll buy you another."

"you are permitted to say absolutely nothing, do you understand me?" while there's no 'or else' to follow pansy's threat, it's certainly not a baseless one, her tone biting and gaze sharp. "nothing about the party, nothing about gormless little granger and co getting snatched, and for merlin's sake, keep your little dragon out of sight — i don't want any professors asking questions."

open to: everyone !
location: the three broomsticks
“butterbeer ?” the slytherin offers, setting down an extra mug, all smiles and suspiciously kind. he slides onto the barstool next to them, brows raised in the hopes that they accept. it’s the kind of method he employs when he’s either flirting or trying to get something he wants. in this case it could be one or both, minseok isn’t even sure himself. “I find drinking alone to be terribly depressing...you don’t mind the company, do you ?” it doesn’t really matter what the answer is, minseok isn’t going anywhere - he’s hard to shake once he’s attached himself to you. unless someone tells him to fuck off, he’s very persistent.

While normally Vincent skips breakfast, he finds himself in the Great Hall that morning, piling food onto his plate. Half a croissant is hastily stuffed into his mouth and he heaps spoonful’s of sugar into his mug of black coffee. “Busy day,” he manages to make out around the croissant before swallowing once he notices someone staring, “Heard a rumor we’re gonna finally be handling and I can’t wait to get my hands on a Peruvian Vipertooth,” Vince grins, bringing his coffee up to his lips.

"i was just on a walk, and then i found the poor baby," the dugbog that luna was sitting beside, stroking like it was a particularly friendly house cat, was definitely not what most people would describe as a 'poor baby'. it did have a gash through one of its legs, which luna had begun to clean out. any anticipated apprehension in the person they were talking to was clearly meant to be swept away by their next statement. "he's friend shaped. just pet his head a little while i finish healing his leg?"

WHO: draco & your muse
STATUS: open starter
LOCATION: one of the tables near the food tents in the viaduct courtyard during the festival
❝ of course i'm paying attention to what you're saying. ❞ he, in fact, was not paying attention to what they had been saying. it was a true travesty, draco muses, so many people yet so little to offer in stimulating conversation. grey hues are watching fellow students mull around the food tents in thinly veiled disinterest before letting out a melodramatic sigh. ❝ actually it was more like a solid sixty percent — drifting in and out waiting to see if you were going somewhere with it. what were you saying ?? ❞ the indifference in his tone isn't one he tries to hide before fixating his gaze on the person beside him with raised brows. ❝ better yet, have you considered saying something of interest ?? the second year puking in the garbage by the food tent from too much treacle tart offers more amusement right now. ❞
#aureliusstarter#posting this before i succumb to sleep#nd i will post more starter replies in the morning <3
