On this day, 26 February 2012, Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Black child, was shot and killed by a neighbourhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Florida. Martin was born in Florida on February 5, 1995, and later attended Dr Michael M Krop high school where he played sports, and mathematics was said to be his favourite subject. He had a keen interest in aviation and considered becoming a pilot. Initially, Sanford police filed no charges against the killer. But marches and protests had begun breaking out across the United States, and the Black Lives Matter movement was born. As public pressure grew, charges of second-degree murder were eventually filed, but the killer was acquitted. The killer also later sold the gun he used to an anonymous buyer for $250,000, and in 2019 he sued the Martin family and others for $100 million. The case was eventually thrown out of court in February 2022. 9-1-1: bees and planes
So, I don't know anything about bad 1970s movies, but I am a huge aviation nerd, and there's a few historical bee vs. plane incidents the 9-1-1 writing room could draw from. Putting discussion under the cut for potential spec/spoilers; TW for plane crashes.
Episode title for 8x02 is released: "When the Boeing Gets Tough". We've also seen some BTS of what appears to be filming at an airport. So bee/plane emergency?
Allegiant Air (2014, Las Vegas to Duluth): MD-80 (so, not a Boeing) hit a swarm of bees shortly after take off. Bees were ingested in the engines and impacted/obscured the windshield. Plane returned to Las Vegas safely. No injuries/deaths (other than the bees).
Birgenair 301 (1996, Puerto Plata DR to Frankfurt): a Boeing 757-200 crashed shortly after take off. While never actually confirmed, it's believed a wasp built a nest in one of the pitot tubes, causing conflicting airspeed readings. The long and the short of it - the aircraft started sending contradictory warnings (like simultaneous overspeed and underspeed alarms) that the crew could/did not respond to correctly. Eventually the plane entered a stall and never recovered. 189 deaths.
Flybe BE384 (2015, Southampton to Dublin): a bee became lodged in the aircraft's instruments (most likely the pitot tube), causing technical issues. The plane returned to the airport, where the bee was removed. Airplane in question was a Dash-8 (turboprop). No reported injuries or deaths - other than the bee.
Yes, the airline was called 'Flybe', pronounced 'Fly Bee'
Brisbane Airport, 2013: Mud Dauber wasps built nests in at least two airplane pitot tubes (an Etihad A330 and a Virgin Australia B737). No deaths/injuries - planes either aborted take off or returned to airport.
Not a specific incident, but on occasion you can find a news story (on a slow day) about a swarm of bees ending up at an airport and delaying some flights until they can be relocated.

License to Utilize Metahuman Abilities (Flight Modification) Act of 2014
Section 1: Modification to the LUMA Act of 2013
This Act may be cited as the "Flight Modification to the License to Utilize Metahuman Abilities Act of 2014."
Section 2: Definition of Flight
(a) "Flight" is defined as the ability of an aviation-capable metahuman to engage in at least two of the three following traits: "sustained velocity", "directional control", and "hovering".
(b) "Sustained velocity" is defined as the ability to maintain velocity independently of initial momentum, differentiating from jumping, which relies on initial force.
(c) "Directional control" is defined as the ability to navigate and change directions mid-air, as opposed to a trajectory typical of jumping.
(d) "Hovering" is defined as the ability to remain stationary or near-stationary in the air.
Section 3: Addition of Flight-Specific Regulations
(a) Flight Certification: Superhumans with flight capabilities must obtain a Flight Certification as an addendum to their LUMA.
(b) Flight Certification Requirements:
Proof of ability to safely takeoff, navigate, and land.
Understanding of air traffic control communication and compliance with flight regulations.
(c) Flight Zone Compliance: Flight-Certified Superhumans must adhere to existing designated flight zones and altitude restrictions.
Section 4: Juvenile Flight Regulations
(a) Juvenile Flight Altitude Limitation: Juveniles with flight capabilities are limited to an altitude of 30 feet above the nearest horizontal surface below them, modifiable by local and municipal laws.
(b) Flight Curfew for Juveniles: A federal flight curfew is established for juveniles, restricting flight times to the hours between 8 AM and 8 PM.
(c) License Suspension for Violations: Violation of flight regulations results in suspension of the JLUMA for a period of at least 30 days and up to a year.
(d) JLUMA Interview Requirement: Juveniles must demonstrate control of their flight abilities as part of the JLUMA interview process. Requirements for flight certification for Juveniles are the same as flight certification for adult superhumans.
Section 5: Penalties & Enforcement
(a) Uncertified Flight Violation: The unauthorized use of flight abilities in restricted zones, or operating such abilities in a careless or reckless manner, constitutes a misdemeanor. This offense is punishable by a fine ranging from $2,000 to $30,000. In cases of severe violations, characterized by extreme recklessness or resulting in significant danger to public safety, the offense may escalate to a criminal charge, subject to imprisonment for up to three years and fines ranging from $5,000 to $300,000.
(b) Unauthorized Flight Violation: Engaging in unauthorized flight within restricted zones constitutes a misdemeanor and results in the suspension of the offender's flight certification. The duration of the suspension ranges between 30 days and three years, depending on the severity of the violation.
(c) Flight Certification Violations: Entities employing flight-capable Superhumans without proper certification are subject to increased fines starting at $50,000.
Section 6: Integration with National Airspace System
(a) Air Traffic Management: The National Superhuman Response Agency (NSRA) shall collaborate with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to integrate flight-capable Superhumans into the National Airspace System.
(b) Emergency Protocols: Flight-Certified Superhumans are required to comply with emergency airspace restrictions and assist in national emergencies when requested by authorities.
Section 7: Implementation
(a) The modifications outlined in this Act shall be implemented within 180 days from its enactment.

🚨🇵🇸#CeasefireNow #StrikeForGaza December 11, 2023
Tumblr media
The National and Islamic Forces, a coalition of major factions in Palestine, has called for an inclusive global strike that would include all aspects of life in solidarity with the Palestinian people—particularly in the Gaza Strip—who have been facing an Israeli war of genocide, displacement and ethnic cleansing...
Tomorrow 11th Dec. is a global strike day. "If the politicians do not hear us, then we can strike from economic life and daily movement and we can boycott everything, we can put pressure on them to stop supporting and blessing the massacre that is happening in Gaza. CEASEFIRE NOW!!!!"
Caption reposted from Esraa Alshikh إسراء الشيخ @Esralshikh
🛑We started a campaign to push for a total strike worldwide on Monday 12/11/2023..
⭕️It is necessary to paralyze the movement of life and the economic wheel in all countries so that everyone feels that he is directly affected by the impact of the aggression on Gaza...
⭕️ Start making your communications today, mobilizing and publishing ..
⭕️The strike must include the transportation, aviation, trade, banks, ports, and even schools and universities.
⭕️Work on gathering the majority of supporters and forget about those who are negligent and discouraged..
⭕️Any personal loss we suffer is worth nothing compared to the massacres taking place against people in Gaza..

Images 3 & 4 and caption by artist @shirien.creates: ...I got news that my friend Refaat had been assassinated by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza, alongside his brother, sister, and four of her children. There is confirmation that he had received a threatening phone call by the Israeli intelligence saying they have located him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Refaat was a well-known and loved Palestinian author, poet, and English literature professor. He was also a founder of @we_are_not_numbers. Refaat taught hundreds of students in Gaza English as a way to help them tell their stories and connect Palestinian liberation with the liberation struggles of Black, Indigenous and colonized people around the world.
I met Refaat in 2014 during his book tour for “Gaza Writes Back,” a collection of stories from Gaza youth living under siege. Refaat taught me how important art and storytelling are as part of our resistance as Palestinians. His work profoundly impacted and inspired me.
Even under Israel’s relentless airstrikes, Refaat hopped around Gaza to find internet to be able to stay connected with his students, his friends abroad, and to take interviews to shed light about the atrocities happening in Gaza. He bravely spoke up knowing that Israel was systematically targeting journalists, academics, creatives, and all those exposing the truth. His home was already targeted and bombed in October, but he survived. This time, he didn’t.
It’s hard to believe Refaat is no longer with us. It is a painful loss. His intellect, his love for Palestine, his passion to make life better for Gaza, his beautiful care for his people, and his great sense of humor will be missed. But in his short time on earth, Refaat left a lasting legacy on all Palestinians and on the world.
Refaat, in one of his last interviews, said expo markers are all he had as his resistance. But he would never give up, and he wouldn’t want any of us to give up. As he rests, we will continue to tell our stories, to demand an end to the genocide and siege in Gaza, and to keep struggling until Palestine is free.
"Writing is a testimony…a memory that outlives any human experience. We lived for a reason, to tell the tales of loss, of survival, and of hope." - Dr. Refaat Alareer

Meet The Mun!

ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘɪᴄᴋ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ(ꜱ) ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ?
Well... To be honest, I don't entirely know. I decided to play the XVI demo when it came out, and at first I was like, "oh no he's hot but he's so dead" when Elwin first showed up. But as soon as the throne room scene started, and he told Clive, "Alright, you can stop licking my boots. Your mother isn't here," I had this intense feeling of, "I need to RP as him." The inspiration just... struck me so unbelievably hard, and I haven't had that happen since like, 2014? Somewhere around there? So I made this blog, the same day, and now here we are!
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?
Hmm. There are a few subjects that I absolutely won't write, like sexual abuse, CSA, and relations between adults and minors. (Which is one of many reasons why I'm still glaring daggers at XVI's Ultimania book for their listed ages of characters like Anabella and Hanna.) As a general rule of thumb, if it's an intense subject other than those listed above, I'd like to talk and plan it out first, so that all parties are okay with it and no one gets shocking/dark content sprung on them unexpectedly.
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ?
Heeheehee. Horror, actually -- most specifically, psychological horror. The last fandom before this one that I was hardcore devoted to was for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. As much as I love angst, fluff, drama, silliness, adventure, fighting(although I am super, super rusty with this one), etc., horror is the sort of dark content that I love. Give me brutality and torture, give me gore, give me body horror, give me psychological terror. Give me the fucked up and the disturbing, and you'll have me doing the M. Bison "Yes! YES!" thing.
ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?
Inspiration, mostly. I try and twist ideas around so that they're at least vaguely plausible in canon, but really it's a matter of inspiration -- if an idea jumps out at me and really resonates with me regarding my muse, then it gets mulled over until it's fleshed out enough to be written as a headcanon.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ɪɴ ꜱɪʟᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴏʀ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴍᴜꜱɪᴄ?
Definitely play music. To be honest, I listen to music most of the time as it is, when I'm not talking with people. (And even then, sometimes when I'm on vc, I have music playing very quietly in the background.) It's not an inspiration thing, or anything like that; it's just that music is what keeps me focused. Grounded, I guess, so that my brain doesn't float away and get distracted by 100 different things while running in another 100 different directions all at the same time. It acts as a sort of tether to keep me on track!
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴇᴘʟɪᴇꜱ ᴏʀ ᴡɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇᴍ?
It depends. Sometimes, inspiration smacks me upside the head with a brick for writing a particular reply. Other times, I have bits and pieces of ideas for various parts of the reply, but I have to sit with it for a while and map it out in my head first, if that makes sense? Then I can actually physically write it out, reread it over and over, and make adjustments as necessary. But much of that is also because I have the awful tendency to overthink constantly...
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ꜱʜɪᴘᴘɪɴɢ?
Yes! As long as there's chemistry between the two muses, definitely. My favorite thing is when characters grow closer over time, and love grows that way -- but I'm not at all opposed to jumping head-first into the deep end if the chemistry is good enough and the muses just... naturally click.
ᴡʜᴀᴛ'ꜱ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴀʟɪᴀꜱ/ɴᴀᴍᴇ?
Vonny! (Thanks, Von Leon, for inspiring my nickname, you depressed sadsack.)
ᴀɢᴇ?
34, going on 35!
ʙɪʀᴛʜᴅᴀʏ?
June 29th. :D
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ᴄᴏʟᴏʀ(ꜱ)?
Burgundy, various shades of blue, lavender!
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜱᴏɴɢ(ꜱ)?
I'm predictable; I listen to mostly video game soundtracks, especially Final Fantasy ones. I also really love Miracle of Sound and Aviators, with an actual example of a favorite-favorite song being Aviator's "Blood and Snow". There's also so many others... But we'll be here all night if I name off all of my favorite songs.
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ᴍᴏᴠɪᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ?
I started watching the remake of "All Quiet On The Western Front", ... but then got distracted. I should finish it...
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜱʜᴏᴡ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ?
Uh. Well, technically, the last show I watched was the first episode of The Last Czars... Yet another thing I meant to watch more of, but got distracted. Aside from that, I've been watching a bunch of Jack Patillo and Matt Bragg streams, if those count?
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜱᴏɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʟɪꜱᴛᴇɴᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ?
Miracle of Sound feat. Aviators, "Let There Be Fire"!
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜰᴏᴏᴅ?
I ... don't actually know. Pepperoni pizza, I suppose?
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜱᴇᴀꜱᴏɴ?
It used to be winter because of snow, but now it's summer or fall. I like summer because of the sunshine and hotter temperatures, but hate the storms that come with it. I like fall because while it's cooler, there are significantly less storms... (Can you tell I'm terrified of storms?)
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀ ᴛᴜᴍʙʟʀ ʙᴇꜱᴛ ꜰʀɪᴇɴᴅ?
There are a few! In addition to one of my RL partners, I won't name any names but some of these friends have also been there for me through some serious bullshit. I'm eternally grateful to have met all of them -- and to have them in my life. I just hope they know who they are, if they see this!

Israel uses bunker-destroying ammunition to hit Hamas tunnels in Gaza
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 10/10/2023 - 09:25 in Military, War Zones
Israel would have used bunker-destroying ammunition to attack Hamas-controlled tunnels in Gaza, which serve as a lifeline for the besieged region.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Israeli military launched a campaign to hit these tunnels in northwestern Gaza, employing powerful bunker-destroying bombs to hit Hamas underground positions.
Bunker destroyers, specialized ammunition designed to penetrate hardened or deeply buried targets, fall into two main categories. The first type is equipped with a reinforced nose to resist impact, using its weight and a delayed fuse to penetrate the ground or structures before detonation. The second type carries double loads, with the initial load creating an entry point at the target, allowing the main load to detonate, causing substantial destruction.
TAP RELOAD TO VIEW VIDEO 👇
Tumblr media
These recent developments coincide with the fact that Gaza is shrouded in smoke, marking the fourth day of Israeli bombing. The enclave, blocked on all fronts by land, air and sea, relies heavily on a network of tunnels for vital imports, including food, weapons and fuel. These tunnels also serve as crucial outposts for Hamas, assisting in storage and transportation.
Tumblr media
GBU-72 ammunition.
The use of bunker destroyers by the Israeli military has significant strategic implications. In the 2014 Gaza War, Israeli forces allegedly faced challenges when they attacked Hamas in tunnels, resulting in casualties between their own ranks. Bunker destroyers provide a means of attacking Hamas from a safe distance, reducing the exposure of Israeli soldiers to such risks.
Israel's arsenal of bunker destroyers, which includes the advanced GBU-72 model, comes from both domestic production and U.S. acquisitions. The GBU-72, sought by Israel in 2021, has the capacity to penetrate up to 30 meters of earth or 6 meters of concrete, causing destruction in the vicinity and generating shock waves capable of causing collapses in underground structures.
Tumblr media
In addition to their effectiveness against tunnel networks and underground installations, ground-penetrating munitions are also useful in the demolition of buildings and high towers, penetrating from the top to the foundations and causing structural collapse, rather than a conventional explosion.

Adventuresses We Love - Jerrie Mock
60 years ago this week, Adventuress Jerrie Mock became the first woman to fly solo around the world. On March 19,1964, Mock took off from the Columbus, OH, airport in her single engine Cessna 180, the "Spirit of Columbus." She headed east, spending several days crossing the Atlantic before touching down for her first stopover in Morocco, where "…there were no nightmares of thunderheads over the Atlantic. Dressed in red satin, I danced in marble palaces." From there, she continued on, her route taking her over Egypt (where she touched down at a secret military base she'd mistaken for the Cairo airport,} Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and the Pacific, before finally returning to Columbus. She touched down in Columbus on April 17, 1964 - two weeks ahead of Joan Merriman Smith, who was circling the globe at the same time, following Amelia Earhart's westerly route.
Mock would go on to set several more records in the world of flight. Among her many honors, she was awarded the Louis Blériot medal from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the Federal Aviation Agency Gold Medal for Exceptional Service, and the Amelia Earhart Memorial Award. In 2022, she was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
Jerrie Mock died September 30, 2014. The "Spirit of Columbus" is on display at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center outside of Washington, DC.

Plaque Status
Third person POV.
May 2nd, 2014.
"Attention on deck!"
The group of pilots stood and saluted as their instructor, Admiral Solomon "Warlock" Bates, entered the room and stood at the podium.
"Top Gun was created to teach ACM. Air Combat Maneuvering. Better known as Dogfighting. You're here because you're the top one percent of all naval aviators. You're the elite, the best of the best. We're gonna make you better."
The group of pilots looked around at one another, taking in the competition.
"You will be put through a series of tests, each pilot or team to come out on top will receive points. The pilot or team with the most points at the end will get their name on that plaque."
The infamous TopGun plague that included the few legendary pilots to complete the course. One of them, being Iceman. It was y/n's dream to see her name on that golden plate.
"However, there are no points for second place. Every moment counts." Warlock continued.
"We will reconvene at 0900 for your first assignment. You're all dismissed."
Y/n suddenly became nervous. She realized that a lot of the other pilots here knew each other. She got up, making her way out the door behind everyone else towards the cafeteria for breakfast. Once she entered the cafeteria, Instinctively she found the coffee. She took a cup and began to pour herself a cup.
She felt a presence behind her, standing obnoxiously close. She didn't move, stood her ground. She wasn't finished yet, this impatient person could wait. "'Scuse me, doll."
Offended, she turned around and was face to face with none other than Jake Seresin. Callsign, Hangman. He earned the notorious reputation of leaving his wingmen stranded and somehow accomplishing the entire mission by himself.
"That will be the first and last time you ever call me that." She growled at him. Their eyes locked, he had the most annoying smirk plastered on his face.
"How can you be so sure?"
"You wanna fuck around and find out?" Y/n snapped, taking a step closer to him. Despite the size difference between the two, she squared off her shoulders to appear larger than she was before.
"That the big bad wolf's bark is worse than her bite? Sounds like a challenge to me." Hangman picked up a toothpick, and put it in his mouth, giving her a wink.
"And you are?" Y/n knew exactly who he was, but she could tell that his ego needed to be knocked down a couple of notches.
Hangman scoffed. "Didn't care to learn about your competition?"
Y/n laughed and rolled her eyes. "You think you're the competition? You know, if you keep that optimistic attitude and you might get second place." She paused for a moment, pretending to think. "Oh no, that's right. There are no points for second place."
Y/n shoved past the now fuming Hangman, A smirk was plastered on her face.
Hangman had never gone somewhere and not been recognized. He found it shocking that she had no idea who he was. What was even more frustrating is how easily he let her get into his head. Just because she's got a pretty face and a pair of breasts. Mind games were his tactic.
Hangman swore that day that his only goal was to come out on top and beat Wolf.

May 3rd, 2014
Y/n had just landed her plane and was walking back to the hangar. She ripped her helmet off, thankful to be out of that sweaty fishbowl. The first thing she wanted to do was check scores.
She walked down the many hallways and into the screening room where most of the pilots seemed to be hanging out and passing around different bowls of snack foods. The pilots congratulated her on her flying during the session today. All, except for one.
Hangman sat in the corner and rolled his eyes whenever she entered the room. He looked over at the scores on the computer screen, praying for a good outcome.
Y/n's score went up. She was now only one point ahead of Hangman. This was distasteful to her. She wanted to be ahead, way ahead of him. She wanted to leave him no room to gloat.
Hangman got up from his chair, dramatically walking to the middle of the room. "We've got a long couple of weeks ahead of us Wolf. Don't get used to the top." And with that, he slammed the door shut on his way out.

May 6th, 2014
Y/n and Hangman had managed to be put on the same team today. Unknown to the instructors, this would be a bad idea.
They were flying side by side together, neither one attempting to talk or strategize with one another. Y/n kept checking her flanks, on the look out for their enemy contender.
Finally, her eyes rested on a small plane shaped object way below them. "5 o'clock low." She announced into the headset.
Hangman looked over his shoulder and saw then plane. He slowed down, dropping back to glide above the plane.
"Hangman what's the strategy?" Y/n asked, slowing her plane down as well.
"Win." Hangman said simply before diving down to chase whatever instructor was unlucky enough to be here.
"Damnit." Y/n cursed, punishing her plane forward and looping around to join the chase. Hangman was hot their tail, grunting with the efforts to keep up with the contender.
Y/n took a head-on approach, flying as close and as fast as she possibly could to the enemy. At the last second she ripped her plane sideways, attempting to sent a hard gust of wind to rattle the cabins.
The force rattled the plane, startling Hangman. Noticing his moment of weakness, y/n took advantage. She slithered her plane between the two of them and pushed Hangman back as far as she could.
"Wolf!" He yelled angrily.
"What? You said win, that's what I'm doing." She snapped back at him.
"We're supposed to be a team!"
"Oh so now you're concerned about being a team. Eat shit, bagman."
Something inside of Hangman snapped. He pushed his plane underneath hers, as close as he could possibly get and forced her off her designated path.
Y/n growled as the two ascended higher, completely forgetting the fact that this was an exercise. The two were now in a face off, their planes now dangerously close to each other.
"Wolf! Hangman! Disengage!" The instructor demanded. Y/n listened, easing off and heading forwards. Hangman stayed on her tail, radar locking on the aircraft.
"What are you going to do, shoot?" Wolf challenged him, hearing the heart-sinking tone.
"Just letting you know I could." He growled.
"Lieutenants!! Land your planes now!"
Reluctantly, Hangman and Y/n landed on the pavement. Exiting their planes with hell-bent fury. The two pilots stormed towards each other, engaging in a screaming match in the middle of the hangar.
Warlock entered the room and with a booming voice yelled: "Shut up!"
Hangman and y/n, did so, looking towards their Admiral. "You two, come with me, now."
Reluctantly, the two followed him into the office where he shut the door and then closed the blinds to the hallway.
"Never in my life have I seen two such irresponsible and arrogant pilots! Those stunts you pulled could have gotten yourselves and others killed. I will not tolerate it!" Warlock was screaming. Y/n stood still as a statue, afraid to move even a muscle.
"You two are benched from the rest of today and tomorrows activities! And that's being generous because I should kick you out of the program!"
Warlock paced a bit in his office, smoke practically coming out of his ears. "Tomorrow you two will spend the whole day together. I don't care if I have to superglue your hands together you will be getting along and there will not be another episode like this again. Understood?"
"Yes Admiral." Hangman and y/n said at the same time.
"Now get out of my damn sight." Warlock dismissed them angrily.

May 7th, 2014
Y/n and Hangman sat on as far opposite sides of the table as they could. To not interfere with the rest of the trainings for today, they were shut in a conference room with a long table and multiple rolling office chairs.
They were burning death glares into each others eyes. The tension between them laid like a thick heavy blanket in the room.
"Why do you hate me?" Y/n finally broke the silence.
Hangman rolled his eyes and looked down at the floor. "I don't hate you. I hardly know you. Other than you're a dick."
"You're the dick, dick." Y/n spat back.
Hangman couldn't help but let out a chuckle at the childish comeback. "You know I think we're more alike than we think."
Y/n was silent for a moment. She thought about it, and he was right. Headstrong, stubborn, confident pilots who had one goal. Be on top. Y/n looked around the room, it was rather empty except for a water jug with a stack of paper cups. Y/n suddenly had an idea.
"Do you want to play a game?"
The two requested for some snack foods for lunch. A couple sandwiches, some potato chips, and a bag of m&m's that the cafeteria kept in stock for the instructors only. Hangman slipped them a $20 to not tell anybody.
Y/n and Hangman created a game of truth or dare, putting a T or a D on 6 cups and putting them in a beer pong formation. They used the m&ms to toss them into each others cups.
Hangman threw an m&m and it landed in one of the cups closest to y/n. She pulled the m&m out of the cup and popped it into her mouth. A large D was labeled on the bottom.
"Dare." Y/n said.
Hangman thought for a second and the smirked. "Scream as loud as you can."
"Seriously?" Y/n asked. Hangman nodded and leaned back in his chair.
Y/n rolled her eyes and took a long breath in, letting out a loud and short scream that quickly turned into a laugh. Hangman laughed loudly and doubled over on the table.
"Move move, my turn! I'm getting you back." Y/n laughed, preparing an m&m to throw into the cups. One landed, Hangman took it out and popped it into his mouth. "Truth."
Y/n grumbled a cuss word. "Umm, do you have any siblings?"
Hangman's face kind of fell a little bit, causing y/n to tilt her head in response.
"Yeah, I had a sister."
Y/n felt her heart shatter when he said 'had'. "What happened?" She asked.
"Her name was McKenna but we called her Ken. She was a couple years older than me. She was hit by a drunk driver coming home from a basketball game, she was a cheerleader."
Y/n frowned and rolled her chair around the table to be next to him. "What did she look like?" She asked.
Hangman pulled out his phone and scrolled way back in his camera roll before finally selecting a picture. He laid the phone down on the table and y/n looked at it.
Tumblr media
Y/n smiled at the heartwarming picture. "The buzz cut is a great look." Y/n teased.
"Hush." Hangman elbowed y/n gently in the arm. She looked over at him and smiled.
"Thank you for telling me."
Hangman smiled at her. A fond, genuine smile.
The game between the two of them continued on for what seemed like forever. Time had flown by and eventually Warlock had come back to check on them. He opened the door to them both doubled over in laughter and something the other had said.
The two pilots looked over at the door way, stopping laughing after realizing who had entered.
Warlock looked at the different foods strung across the table and then at the two pilots. "Hey, how'd you get my m&m's?"
~~~
May 11th, 2014
Hangman thought it was odd that y/n hadn't showed up for breakfast yet. She was usually there before he was, getting freshly made pancakes and talking with the cafeteria ladies for extra goodies for later.
After he had ate, he stood up and made his way down the hallway to the dorm rooms. He arrived at the outside of y/n's door and saw it was slightly ajar. He knocked twice on the door before pushing it open gently.
"Hey, you're going to miss breakfast." To hangman's surprise, y/n's room was empty. The bed sheets were ruffled around and things left slightly out of place. Hangman was overcome with concern, wondering where his friend was.
He made his way out to the hangar and saw warlock talking with another one of the instructors. "Admiral Bates!" Hangman caught his attention and jogged up to him.
"Yes, Hangman?" He asked.
"Where's Wolf?"
Warlock sighed, looking down at his feet. "She will not be continuing the program. A family emergency came up and she had to leave."
"Well where is she now?"
Warlock pointed towards the entrance of the facility. "Packing her things into a taxi."
Hangman hardly let warlock finish his sentence. It was drowned out as he sprinted towards the entrance of the building. He burst through the double doors in time to see y/n closing the taxi trunk.
"Wolf!" He yelled, running up to her. She looked over at him, face red and puffy with tears still draining from her eyes. Hangman's heart broke as he slowed down to stop right in front of her.
"What happened?" He asked, placing his hands on either of her shoulders. She sniffled her nose hard, wiping tears away with her sleeves.
"My mom has cancer. It's bad, I need to go home." Hangman engulfed y/n in a hug and she let out a shuttering sigh. He placed his head on the back of her head in comfort while she tried to regain her breathing.
"I'm so sorry." He whispered.
Y/n pushed off of him, clearly distraught and wanting to go home as quickly as possible. In their game Hangman had learned how much she loved her mom, she he understood her hurry.
"Let me know when you win, okay?" She asked, attempting a pitiful smile.
Hangman chuckled and shook his head. "You'll be the first to know."
They said their goodbyes, Hangman watched the taxi car drive off, a heavy feeling in his heart.
At a historic NASA briefing on UFOs — “unidentified anomalous phenomena” (UAP) in government parlance — a key Defense Department official made a striking disclosure. Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, director of a new UAP analysis office, stated that U.S. military personnel are observing “metallic orbs” “all over the world.”
An image, along with two brief videos of such objects are now publicly available.
According to Kirkpatrick, spherical objects account for the largest proportion — nearly half — of all UAP reports received by his office. Critically, some of these objects are capable of “very interesting apparent maneuvers.”
To be sure, rigorous scientific analysis may ultimately identify a prosaic explanation for such observations. In the meantime, however, such “metallic orbs” are prima facie evidence of extraordinary technology. After all, how would spheres, lacking wings or apparent forms of propulsion, execute “maneuvers” of any kind?
In his presentation, Kirkpatrick also described the UAP characteristics most frequently received by his office. This range of attributes, in short, amounts to a UAP profile that Kirkpatrick’s staff is “out hunting for.”
Intriguingly, this profile includes small (3 to 13 feet in diameter) “spherical” objects capable of flight at a range of velocities, from “stationary” to twice the speed of sound, despite a perplexing absence of “thermal exhaust” such as heat from an engine. Of particular note, as Kirkpatrick made clear, some of these highly anomalous characteristics are observed via multiple sensors.
Former U.S. Navy fighter pilot Lt. Ryan Graves has described daily encounters with unidentified objects exhibiting characteristics strikingly similar to those described by Kirkpatrick. While training off the U.S. east coast in 2014-15, Graves and at least 50-60 fellow naval aviators observed unknown objects, frequently via multiple sensors, that remained stationary over the ground even in hurricane-force winds, or traveled at speeds faster than sound.
Although the aircrew rarely observed the objects visually, a harrowing near-midair collision marked the first time a naval aviator in Graves’s squadron had observed one of the objects at close range. According to the pilot, the object appeared as a dark-colored cube inside of a clear sphere. As if to confirm, Kirkpatrick noted at the NASA event that “translucent” spheres are among the most commonly reported UAP characteristics.
Contemporaneous U.S. Navy “hazard reports” memorialize the exasperation of naval aviators and their commanders following the April 2014 near-collision. According to one such document, Graves’s squadron considered the spheres, which flew with impunity in tightly-controlled training airspace, a “critical risk” and “a severe threat to Naval Aviation.” A few days earlier, a separate hazard report described an unknown object, observed via both radar and infrared sensors, hovering motionless at “0.0 Mach,” much like the “stationary” spherical objects frequently reported to Kirkpatrick’s office.
Similarly, a hazard report from the previous day describes two objects — both confirmed via radar and infrared sensors — hovering in place. However, in this incident, two other UAP fly past the stationary objects “at a high speed.” Graves’s exasperated squadron commander punctuates the report by stating that “it is only a matter of time before this results in a midair” collision.
Less than a month earlier, a hazard report filed in the same area by a different squadron describes an aircrew encountering “a small metallic object” “approximately the size of a suitcase,” matching, once again, the commonly-reported characteristics described by Kirkpatrick.
The squadron commander, similarly incensed by the dire flight safety risk posed by the frequent UAP encounters, wrote that “it may only be a matter of time before one of our F/A-18 aircraft has a mid-air collision.”
While he had less flexibility to investigate after he deployed, Graves recalls observing similar anomalous radar contacts as his squadron moved to the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf. This is consistent with Kirkpatrick’s statement that such UAP are observed “all over the world.”
A few years later, a test pilot flying in a nearby evaluation range told Graves of an encounter with one of the commonly reported objects. According to Graves, a spherical UAP was “just riding along with him,” about 30 feet from the aircraft, before it “zipped off.” A declassified report matching the general details of the incident describes a test pilot’s encounter with a “sphere.”
More recently, one of Graves’s former student pilots, along with a senior officer, observed one of the spheres. As Graves’s former student told him, “[The object] looked exactly like what you said, [a] cube in a sphere. They’re still here.”
Importantly, the spheres are associated with one of the best-known UAP encounters.
The 2015 “Gimbal” video is arguably the most recognizable publicly available UAP footage. Recorded at the end of a complex pre-deployment training mission, Graves recalls that the “Gimbal” UAP flew in a loose formation with a “fleet” of four to six objects which, based on their perplexing radar signatures, resembled the objects observed daily by aviators off the East Coast.
During the post-mission debrief, a thorough review of the sensor data from the “Gimbal” incident “left a crowd of fascinated intelligence officers and aircrew” perplexed enough to summon the highest ranking officer aboard the aircraft carrier. The admiral, exasperated by the frequent UAP incursions into the carrier’s airspace, and the “Gimbal” incident in particular, reported the incident to the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Moreover, during the recent briefing by NASA’s Independent Study Team, a panel member mathematically analyzed the “GoFast” UAP video. Such open, transparent academic engagement with noteworthy UAP incidents is a much-welcome development.
Importantly, by virtue of its connection to the “Gimbal” incident, the “GoFast” video has a plausible link to the anomalous spherical UAP observed frequently by naval aviators.
“GoFast” was recorded hundreds of miles offshore, just 10 minutes prior to the “Gimbal” incident, and by the same aircrew. While the NASA study team member who analyzed the video employed basic trigonometry to conclude that the cold, sphere-like “GoFast” object was traveling relatively slowly (about 40 miles per hour), citizen scientists — UFO skeptics and “agnostics” alike — have created three-dimensional models that recreate the effect of the strong winds that evening.
Tuskegee Airman Lieutenant Colonel Hiram Mann (May 23, 1921 – May 17, 2014) was an aviator, retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, and member of the Tuskegee Airmen’s 332nd Fighter Group. He flew forty-eight missions over Europe as a member of the 332nd Fighter Group during the war. He was a member of the “Red Tails.” He nicknamed his fighter plane “The Iron Lady” after his wife.
He was born in New York City. His parents had moved north from Alabama to New York in search of better opportunities. The family moved to Cleveland when was still a toddler. He dreamed of becoming a pilot, often building model aircraft.
He found work as a bellhop at the Hotel Cleveland after graduating from high school. He left the hotel for a job at a steel-and-wire manufacturer when he learned that employment related to the defense industry would help delay mandatory military service. He attended Philander Smith College. He married Kathadaza “Kitty” Mann (1940-2012). He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
He and Kitty Mann retired to Titusville, Florida, in 1974. He spoke extensively on his experience as a member of the Tuskegee Airmen. He spoke at college campuses and schools advocating for education and perseverance. In 2013, he was one of four Tuskegee veterans who rode in a Model A Ford in Orlando’sVeterans Day Parade.
He was one of just six Tuskegee Airmen to attend the dedication of the Tuskegee Airmen monument at the Orlando Science Center in 2013.
He was survived by his son and three grandchildren. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #alphaphialpha
