So, Season 2 messed me up for a while, as I think is true of a lot of us. But my own particular flavor of freakout had to do with investment in a read on Aziraphale and Crowley and their relationship which I felt in my bones that I understood -- and I had written hundreds of thousands of words about it. About a Crowley who fell in love at first sight, about an Aziraphale with scads of sexual experience, above all about the both of them -- by the time that tartan thermos was exchanged, certainly, if not well before -- knowing they were in love. Only waiting, maybe without much hope, for the moment when it would finally be safe. In my head, they knew. They both knew. And I wrote about that moment, and what came after.
Season 2 changed everything and for a long time I didn't know what to do. I couldn't go on purveying erotic romances as though nothing had happened. The thing I most desperately needed to work out, was, how did we get here? If, after the Ritz, things didn't go as I'd always imagined -- what did happen?
Thank goodness for @julietk, who allowed me to throw myself on their tender mercies and served up their flawless, flawed Crowley as brilliantly as ever, to support my occasional rep as Aziraphale-whisperer.
If you're still in a lather about S2, I hope this story brings you the comfort it has for me.

There is something that makes me laugh in the good omens famdom, it is that they say they don't understand why heaven judges Azira just for being a friend of Crowley, man there is a difference with Miguel who only does it for info (and in fact he does it they do secretly) or Gabriel who had scheduled meetings with Beelzebub (who secretly used him to date without being bothered). Well they forget that Crowley lied to hell saying that the greatest evils of humanity were done by her (she literally lied saying that caused a world war) and of course this is a lie but only Azirafeel knows that, not the others who think that Criwley is one of the worst demons that caused so much evil.

I got kind of stymied at one point while writing your slightest look easily will unclose me so I had a fresh document where I just word-splurged and wrote a lot of stuff that wasn’t coherent or grammatical but let me get some of my thoughts out and figured out where I wanted to go to it. Part of that was the above, which never got finished, about Aziraphale’s fears and feelings.
I was going through and doing some cleanup on old docs and found this and even though it never got finished, I like how it started.

Chapters: 7/7 Fandom: Good Omens (TV) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens) Characters: Aziraphale (Good Omens), Crowley (Good Omens) Additional Tags: The Dissolution of the Monasteries, Quite extraordinary amounts of alcohol, Area Demon Going To Go Ahead And Consider That A Date, 6000 Years of Slow Burn (Good Omens), Hereditary Enemies to Friends to Lovers, English Civil War, Georgian Period, 1920s, The Blitz, 1970s Summary:
Aziraphale, it seemed, was being forced, and not for the first time, to sup with the devil – or rather, not the devil, obviously, but certainly a member of his senior management team. Still. He was exceedingly thirsty.
--
If you have been craving, as I have, a vivid portrait of Aziraphale’s first encounter with the Bentley, definitely do not miss this story, which also features the most breathtaking first kiss I have read in this fandom -- and that is saying a hell of a lot.
@justlikeeddie always delivers the finest Aziraphale and the most refined prose. This is no exception.

Chapters: 2/2 Fandom: Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett, Good Omens (TV) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens) Characters: Aziraphale (Good Omens), Crowley (Good Omens), Becky the Tattoo Artist Additional Tags: Pain Kink, Praise Kink, Touch-Starved, Service Top Crowley (Good Omens), Breathplay, Biting, Restraining, Hair-pulling, Multiple Orgasms, Tattoos, Needles, Porn with Feelings, bodies (non-celestial), heartbeats are a metaphor, when you're an ex-catholic and it shows Summary:
Aziraphale liked his body. He liked the shape of it, the way it moved and touched the world, an implement for contact, for earthliness, for awareness. It was why he liked being near humans, near their smells and their sounds, shaking hands and rubbing shoulders; a type of sensory feedback that made him understand the shape and extent of his corporation, the way it reacted, how it pushed back when it was pulled. Like he wasn’t just an ephemeral vessel. Like he was flesh.
Or: Aziraphale gets a tattoo. Crowley is an accessory to this crime against good sense. Everyone’s kinks are very poorly disguised.
--
I loved this so much! The breathtaking sensuality of it! Any time an author takes a deep dive into Aziraphale's hedonism I am totally here for it, but this unlocked him in ways that felt totally fresh. This is someone craving every possible sensation a body can give, someone who wants to know where his edges are, someone who needs to be touched, grounded, made real. This is a lost soul, and Crowley helps him make his body into home. Magnificent.

You know that browser plugin?
The one that replaces images of Trump with kittens?
Can I get a plugin that replaces all photos of everything with Aziraphale?

Quote
Love delivers to me its sweetest thoughts like a long-forgotten confidant telling me I was never so close to what I have longed for as I am now. I, who have believed and disbelieved, can do no more than question now:  I live somewhere between the two, my heart alternating yes and no.
