increasingly harping on my insistence that nina's wrong in who she thinks is who in her analogy to Crowley at the end of season 2

maggie and nina sit crowley down and say the pair of them have got to stop messing around with maggie and nina. Nina explains how Crowley and Aziraphale are clearly projecting themselves onto her and Maggie. She explains how Crowley sees himself in her, the hard-bitten one who can't trust again, and Maggie/Aziraphale is the ray of sunshine who still believes in magic.

But of course it's backwards (in as much as anything can be backwards for two people who are so much the same).

In Ep 5 when Crowley and Nina run into each other, she jumps very quickly to the assumption that crowley (being like her) is cheating on his established relationship with aziraphale (like she emotionally has begun to with maggie).

And we know of her that she doesn't think she's strong enough to get away from her abusive partner (at least at the start).

Aziraphale is the one who isn't strong enough to get away from his abusive partner (metaphorically).

It drives me a little spinny when I see people posting “Why Aziraphale doesn’t just keep his books at home if he doesn’t want to sell them” because it seems to me to so clearly be a riff on real life antiquarian bookshops?

I worked in a used and rare book shop for five years, and have frequented them since I was young, and Aziraphale is like, a type of guy who just exists. An older fellow who refuses to keep his books in any sort of order, neglects to write prices in, opens at wildly varying hours, and by all accounts does not seem to want to be in business at all. The answer I found, by the end, was because many of them were doing it as a sort of retirement hobby. They made enough money to keep the lights on and to buy new rare books to look at.

I swear to you: nobody in the book business would bat an eye at Aziraphale. Especially if his shop had been there for generations. They would assume that the occasional loose encyclopedia plate sale would be enough to make rent, or that Mr. Fell had business and land holdings elsewhere.

And I assume that though he doesn’t want to sell them, he would LOVE a curious browser. Antiquarian vendors often adore it when you ask how to find a rare book, because the thrill of the hunt is often better than actually owning the volume. Anyone can have a private library, but owning a quaint little bookshop is a saucy way to brag and chat with other book lovers, and you can’t put that on your shelf at home.

Scary Sunset.

I'm concepting things way outta order in this story, but I'm sure you can piece things together. Context is for a storybeat where, after defeating and capturing Adagio (thus having all three sirens in her possession), Sunset enacts her revenge plot to release the sirens on Canterlot as Thea discovers she's been manipulated. In a confrontation, the two scuffle and fight over the siren orbs while Sunset struggles with her conflicting wants and emotions.

and like, they’re both absolutely terrified by each other because they’re both uniquely skilled at getting under each other’s skin and finding that truth (and also because… louis could just up and eat daniel anytime but shhhh…) and it’s because they UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER. louis’s interviewing daniel as much as daniel’s interviewing him, just. pulling teeth from each other’s head, trying to pull out all the rot with such violence and cruelty (from both of them!! daniel is a cockwallop!!) but they want to help each other they CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER.

The defintion of hell is knowing a show is incredibly well-received in its first season, but if people don’t become machines churning out tweets, content, and rewatching 24/7, there’s no likelihood it’ll get a chance to tell its whole story. This shit is madness. Shows in different genres shouldn’t have to pit-battle for dominance. First seasons are MEANT to be baselines establishing worlds and characters, not complete storylines. The idea that this golden age of television has turned into “get it done in one or get out” is revolting.

i know they underutilized the frankenstein aspect in the movie but it really does feel like the creature was perfectly created for lisa regardless. from what we saw, he spent his whole life lonely; dead parents, isolating social life, failed romantic prospects, the whole shebang, but he never gets to do anything about it because he dies, suddenly and unstoppably. until he’s suddenly alive again and the whole world is different but there’s this girl who tended to his grave when nobody else would have given him that respect, who’s experiencing the same things he did who actually has the chance to get back at the people who didn’t care for her, one tiny bit of familiarity to him… of course he’s going to kill for her just to see her happy.

I’ve had a human AU waiting in the wings for the right bit of backstory inspiration and if S2 gives it to me I will be DELIGHTED.

I’ve been very overwhelmed with work lately so I haven’t really thought about s2 at all. So I don’t even really have expectations or hopes for whether I wind up re-engaging with Making Stuff about it.

But it’s wild how GO was a catalyst for my art journey and a huge processing place for a lot of my life at the time. Very cool to be a person so strongly shaped by my interactions with S1, now heading into S2.
