Yeah, i can share a couple : )

I'll share two things (mostly because the one is very self-indulgent and i'm not entirely sure i'm going to post it when it's done), and the other is just a bit of the seer twin fic i was working on

I'll put it all under a break just so it doesn't get messy.

Here's an excerpt of what i've been writing for the Seer Twins AU. This part is the very tail end of Leo's first waking vision, which i felt like i needed to write out before i could go into the talk (fight) they had the next day. (also that talk might end up being broken up? Mostly because they can't exactly talk to Donnie about hsi visions if no one else really knows he's having them. but that's besides the point.)

A decision was made and Donnie continued across the room, dropping to sit cross-legged in front of Raph and Leo. He hesitated briefly before prying one of Leo’s hands away from Raph’s arm to hold in his own.

Leo clung to Donnie’s hand like a lifeline, somehow more desperately than he still did to Raph’s arm. It had to have hurt, but Donnie didn’t so much as wince, instead leaning forward to mumbled something directly to Leo that even Raph couldn’t hear properly.

They sat like that for over an hour as Leo slowly quieted and stopped struggling. By the time the glow began to fade, Leo was limp in Raph’s arms, head laying against Raph’s plastron but his hand still firmly holding Donnie’s. His thoughts came stuttering into Raph’s awareness once again, it’s contents breaking Raph’s heart. Fear, pain, exhaustion, confusion; all sat forefront in his little brother’s mind even as he slowly blinked, taking in his surroundings for the first time since this began.

“Hey,” Leo’s voice was little more than a hoarse whisper as he saw everyone in his room. “If I had known there was going to be a party thrown in my room, I’d have cleaned first. Maybe.”

Raph was relieved as he hugged Leo close, Mikey and eventually Donnie joining soon after. Leo was hiding his thoughts behind humor again, but Raph was just glad he was aware enough to do so.

“I love the attention, really I do, but ow,” Leo said after a moment. They let go quickly, though Raph kept him in his lap propped up against his plastron. Leo was still shaky, his entire body feeling like achy Jell-O, his description, not Raph’s. Leo himself wasn’t sure if he could sit up right now, so Raph opted not to have him find out.

- The second thing is a very messy planning video for a Donnie VS the World video, that i never expected to make, but recently realized a song fit too well not to. I doubt it will be full length, or make any sense. Essentially i just had the thought of drawing one of Donnie's first encounters trying to get his brothers back. This is probably very ambitious of me considering im bullshitting my way through the animation process. (i literally do not know how to properly animate. It's all trial and error over here, plus some not-really-helpful youtube videos.) If it looks cool when it's 'finished' i'll probably post it.

This video is just Donnie breaking into a purple dragon warehouse because he heard they have Leo, only to find evidence he was there but actually finding him, and thus making that the purple dragon's problem.

• "Uh, dearest. I don't think this is a very good idea."

• You mumbled as you stared at the mechanical clone in front of you. Donnie rubbed your shoulders in reassurance.

• "Nonsense, Wifey! This is perfection."

• He strode over to his creation.

• "Meet, Donnie 0! Your home AI for when I'm not around."

• That's right. Your genius of a fiancee has created a robot clone of himself. Due to the brothers saving people worldwide now, he can't always be with you. So, he made you something that could protect you and make sure you aren't lonely. But, you weren't really taking to 'im.

• "Has it-"

• "He, Y/N. Use my pronouns."

• You rolled your eyes.

• "Has HE been tested already."

• He revealed the bot's "tested on brothers" seal.

• "Will he be robotic and scary, like movies?"

• "He's supposed to be me so... of course not."

• "You sure?"

• Donatello sighed. Convincing you is taking a lot longer than anticipated. Maybe he should try a different approach.

• "How about this?"

• He looked towards the door.

• "I leave you two alone and you see how you feel."

• That was indeed the wrong approach. You hopped on his arm, nearly pulling his lab coat off.

• "Don't leave me with this thing!"

• D sighed once again. Your stubbornness was your best yet worse quality. Time to initiate plan B. Bribery.

• "Hey, Y/N~"

• You looked up.

• "If you check him out, we can go to that one place you like so much."

• "...The toy coffin in the hidden city?"

• He nodded.

• "That's the one."

• After a moment of silence, you got down from his bicep. Begrudgingly, you approached his invention. You looked down at it's hand. 'Hold for 3 seconds' a button said. You took a breath and did as instructed.

• A little techno jingle played and slowly the clones eyes opened. Glowing purple pupils fell on you. You looked back at your Donnie, hoping for some guidance. But instead, he waved, pressing you to continue with his creation.

• "What is your name?"

• It said, startling you. (Huh, it's teeth glow for it's speech) You looked around and cleared your throat.

• "Y/N L/N. Although my last name will change to Hamato soon."

• It silently processed your words. In a instant, the robot's ENTIRE demeanor changed. It straightened out it's coat and fastened it's mask. After checking the time, updating and other stuff, the clone's attention was back on you.

• "Salutations, Y/N,"

• It took your hand.

• "I am Donnie 0, your home AI."

• You didn't know what to say. This robot was frickin SPOT-ON. The exaggerated vocabulary. The soft tone that was only reserved for you. AND, the natural swagger.

• "Isn't he magnificent!?"

• Donnie shouted, wrapping his arms up your neck. You nodded. (Although you're still admittingly a little skeptical.)

• "I put my ALL into him!"

• He slid next to his creation.

• "Note the chiseled features,"

• "The super strength,"

• "And my favorite part, the clean paint job."

• Just like any other time he showed off an invention, you clapped. That paint job is really good. He looked just like D is he was dipped in a tub of glitter. (Mikey probably did that) Your fiancee snickered and pointed, silently asking you to look at the robot.

• "Would you like to take me for a test run, Y/N?"

• Donnie 0 asked you. You squeaked and looked down at your feet. Um...(Why'd he ask you like that?) You shook your head quickly.

• "No thanks, I got work anyway so..."

• Your words faded when BOTH Donatello's grabbed your hands.

• "No you don't, you have the night shift today."

• "Let's spend some time together, shall we?"

• They both said in unison. Your cheeks burned. This is, um... Both of them smirked at each other. This is a terrific plan!

• An experimental week later...

• "Leo, be careful with that!"

• "What? Putting your little gizmos in the tank by portal saves a ton of time."

• You snickered. That's true. Working smarter and not harder is efficient. Unfortunately, D doesn't feel the same. He grumbled and tapped away on his wrist thing. (Tech gauntlet.)

• "If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself."

• His cargo grew some wheels and rolled in a straight line to the tank. (Although it's more of a deluxe trailer now. Don't let Donnie hear you say that though!) Do it himself, huh? You chuckled and tugged on his sleeve.

• "So how long is it gonna be this time?"

• He thought for a moment.

• "2 months if we're lucky, otherwise..."

• Probbles longer. You're a little sad, but it won't be too bad. Donnie's gonna facetime you everyday (even in battle) and you got an artificial intelligence version of him too. Although, not being kissed will eventually put a hole in your heart.

• "Looks like the tech is almost done."

• You mumbled. D looked over at you. He's doing that dreamy stare thing again. That's it, you're crying. You jumped on him, clinging to him like a sloth.

• "Oh Donnie, don't go!"

• Now it's his turn for the water works.

• "Do you think I wanna leave!? I hate this job!"

• The other brothers watched as the two of you hugged and blubbered incoherent stuff. Leo snorted, a laugh was waiting in his chest.

• "Is it me or do they do this everytime we have a worldwide mission?"

• "It's everytime!"

• Mikey shouted from the trunk. The "champion" shook his head. (Y'know with the tsk tsk tsk)

• "And to think, he threw a tantrum over me saying goodbye to my bed."

• Raph unintentionally drowned out his younger brother as he watched. Those were genuine tears.

• Can I find love like that?

• "Dude. Buddy. Raph."

• Leo's snapping in his face, but he's too busy thinking about married life. Meanwhile, Mikey's sneaking around trying to get in the hug.

• "Well, my darling Y/N,"

• Donnie said while wiping his eyes.

• "See you when I come home."

• "See when you get-hurgh!"

• You were crushed in another muscular embrace. This time with the other brothers. Mikey's leading it.

• "Bye, Y/N! I'll bring you another souvenir!"

• The youngest said. You also got a kiss on your cheek cause you were closest to him.

• "I'm gonna get a girlfriend this time Y/N."

• "So, please, I ask you to forget about me."

• Leo sighed dramatically. Both you AND Donnie kicked him at the same time. (Although, your kick wasn't nearly as hard as your fiancee's.)

• "And we'll be back before you can say Ko...Konachi..."

• "Hi in Japanese!"

• Raph shouted. (He brought the hug in the air) You chuckled.

• "Looking forward to it."

• Silence. And...everyone started crying. 2 months is a long time. After 30 minutes of telling one another how much you'll miss each other, they finally loaded in the tank. But, not before Donatello gave you a kiss that could make your heart stop from lack of oxygen. You watched silently as the most interesting in your life people drove away. But at least this time, you both get a new adventure. You tapped your new "watch".

• Activating Donnie 0.

• Living with your new man bot, was a little awkward at first, but you got in swing pretty fast. It was like the sleepovers you had with his live action. He would go shopping with you. Visit the hidden city with you. (Nowadays, it's more like the exposed city. Humans and Yokai exist in peace now.) And overall just spent your everyday life with you.

• It's nice. Kinda made you wonder if this is what your life would've been, if your Donnie wasn't a world wide secret ninja... Eh, no use crying over it now. When you're fiancee returns, he's staying for a year. But what will become of your ai then...

• Day 24 (one month nearly down)

• "Donnie 0, I'm home!"

• You called from the door. As usual, your bot hovered from your room. (He's not a walker, just like his creator.)

• "Greetings, Y/N,"

• He said, with a bow.

• "Did you have a good day at work, darling?"

• He asked as he pulled your coat off. You couldn't help but giggle like a minor. You loved that D added your pet names to 'im. Made him alot more lifelike.

• "It was okay, I finally turned in my report."

• The handsome robot hung up your jacket as you rambled on about your day. He also has your iced coffee and your dinner waiting in the fridge. And is FULL ON ready to give you a massage. Just say the word.

• "How was your day, Donnie 0?"

• His heart drive sparked. There you go again, wondering about he's doing.

• "It was fine. I just shined the house and charged all day."

• He replied, trying to sound chill. You chuckled and shook your head.

• "I keep telling you,"

• You looked over at him.

• "If you stay on the charger too long, you won't be able to run without it."

• (Little fact you learned from D when you guys were teens) Once again, his heart drive sparked. This time it lasted for a few minutes. You kicked off your shoes and stretched, completely unaware how your affecting this AI.

• "I'm gonna take a shower,"

• "Could you call April for me and see if she's home? I gotta tell her about the awful Lu jutsu adaptation."

• Donnie 0 nodded

• "Yes, ma'am, consider it done."

• He replied smoothly. You smiled and disappeared into your room. And...your door is closed. The robot swooned. You're so perfect. Beautiful, smart, and funny! And with just a touch of flaws. That checks all his all his boxes! But, alas, you're in love with his creator. The one who gave him life and the opportunity to even meet you. Mecha Donnie sighed and grabbed your phone. Maybe fulfilling your request, will take his mind off of this.

• As he scrolled through the contacts, he stumbled across a voicemail. It from your real beloved. Being naturally nosy, he tapped it. Images flew from the phone, swirling around the room. It was quite a sight. (Although, he was sure he could conjure something better.) Slowly, the pictures came together, forming the real Donatello. In a rather disheveled ninja uniform.

• "Japan hasn't been kind."

• Donnie 0 mumbled, shaking his head

• "Hello, Y/N."

• The hologram purred, while stretching dramatically. This was for you alright.

• "Just checking in to see if you're okay and I have some good news."

• The robot raised his steel eyebrow. News and he wasn't notified?

• "Drum roll please,"

• The camera was turned to his brothers. Everyone "drummed" dramatically.

• "Your hero is coming home early!"

• The robot's heart drive crackled. But, not in a good way. Coming home early!?

• "Give me a week, dearest. And Japan's biggest threat will be vanquished."

• Donatello said with a warm smile.

• "And Donnie will stop crying into his pillow!"

• Mikey shouted from the background. (The Ai couldn't tell if he was being malicious or just dreadfully honest.)

• "Thank you for bringing up painful memories, Michael."

• He said, stiffly.

• "Anywhiz, I love you. Let's facetime tonight."

• He said a few other words his creation would've rather not of heard and finally signed off. Donnie 0 stood there in silence. In a week, the paradise he was living would be gone. He's VERY sure he won't be scrapped, he's the greatest robot ever created. But, going on without you...he might as well be.

• Think, Donnie, think.

• I'm best AI on the planet.

• How can I prevent the end?

• ...Eureka! Your voice! He can use a audio file of it and keep his original away. Maybe even break you two up eventually. Yeah. This is a great plan. His finger opened, revealing a audio cable. He plugs into your phone.

• "Apologies, master Donatello,"

• "I wanna spend a little more time with my fiancee."

Yandere rottmnt brothers halloween speciell scenario:

You and the gang decided to go to a corn maze for halloween this year, dressed in your finest costumes you split up in groups of two but due to there being five of you Donnie opted to go alone. So the groups were Raph and Mikey, you and Leo. So there you were wandering through the tall corn stalks anticipating when the poorly carved out wooden skeleton would jump out and scare you. Despite being a scaredy cat you were the one to suggest this, Leo didn't complain however because of how close you were holding him. You stumbled upon a pile of leaves, the sight brought on your inner child as you ran towards them. Leo watches in amusement half tempted to join until something within the leaves caught his eye, he has never reacted so fast in his life. He grabbed you by the waist just as you were about to jump pulling you oway from the colorful pile taking a few straps back, you're confused and a bit peeved, you open your mouth to complain but Leo cuts you off.

“stay close to me”

He demanded, the sudden change in his tone shook you to your core. It wasn't often he was this serious, he cursed under his breath.

Slowly you looked down to where he was staring at, and although it was hard to see due to the lack of any light source except for the moonlight, when you did spot it it made your blood run cold.

Among the leaves were the metal jaws of a bear trap.

The lively little maze that you have threaded into wasn't so innocent looking anymore, it's laughable “scary” decor was now replaced with haunting imagery, the kinda stuff you could only dream of. Now with that in mind your goals have changed from having fun to finding the others, STAT.

The thing with the maze is that it's sentient, it wants to kill its victims in a way that would symbolize what monster they dressed up as, but now it's found an interest in you, and your “friends”. It senses what they have done behind closed doors or in the dark always. The scars on their adversaries would tell you that much, it serves as a burning memory of what will happen if they lay another finger on you. It wanted to see the extent the turtles are willing to go on keeping you safe.

Besides, there's nothing like tearing a family apart on Halloween :)

when i first read this i was in a library and i was trying so hard to not s c r e a m at how big brain you are

imagining all the brothers teaming up to get (y/n) out of the maze safely. they probably struggle to do this, assuming the maze has mystic powers that tamper with their weapons, meaning leo can’t just portal everyone out because that would be too easy. also the connection isn’t very good, so donnie has trouble tracking (y/n) down even with the tracker he secretly placed on them when they were asleep-

the moment donnie, mikey, and raph find out how dangerous this maze is, you can bet on your life they’re fIGHTING TOOTH AND NAIL TO GET BACK TO THEM, IF THEY COULD THEY’D B U R N THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND DO NOT TEST THEM.

with your idea of the maze killing it’s victims in a symbolic way and knowing what the brothers did, i’m just- my mind just keeps going back to the thought of the maze just taunting the brothers by subtly hinting to (y/n) about all the horrific things they do in their name, as if it’s like “lmao you’re gonna die knowing your loved ones are crazy obsessed psychopaths <3”

and the brothers are all scrambling around, trying to make sure (y/n) can’t see what’s going on. like, the maze will start making them see stuff and they’re all like

“UHHH IT’S TOO GRUESOME CLOSE YOUR EYES!”

“YEAH KEEP YOUR EYES ON US! WE’LL HANDLE IT JUST DON’T LOOK!”

“I’LL TAKE CARE OF IT! JUST TURN AWAY FOR A SEC!”

“AND IF YOU DO HAPPEN TO SEE ANY OF THIS, THE MAZE IS LYING!”

and the maze is just so smug seeing the brothers try to hide their dark secret while (y/n) is just like “????”

AND THERE ARE SO MANY POSSIBLE ENDINGS

maybe everyone makes it out safe! the turtles, against all odds, escaped with (y/n), all without letting them know their secret!

but the whole event leaves (y/n) rather scarred, and they end up having nightmares because that whole thing was horrifying. the things they saw and went through, it ends up pushing them even further into the brothers’ arms, giving them more chances to isolate them from their other loved ones. ok, maybe this little outing had a few upsides…

and then there’s a possibility of everyone making it out safely, but (y/n) learned what the brothers are really like and cut them out of their life, leading to the brothers kidnapping them.

“(y/n)! i’m sorry, you- you were never meant to see any of that! come here, i know you’re scared- no, don’t push me away… we don’t wanna force you into anything. but we can’t let you get hurt again.”

“we’ve been keeping you safe for years, we just helped you out of a death-maze, and you still wanna leave us?? no! we’re not gonna let that happen!”

“if anything, today has proven that you truly need us. who else can say they would fight a sentient corn maze for you, hm? now, we could either do this the easy way or the hard way.”

“don’t worry! we know you’re scared, but we promise, we’ll keep you safe from now on! because you’ll never leave the lair again! we’ll have so much fun! we can cook together, watch movies together, play games together-”

and then there’s the possibility of making it out… not in tip-top shape.

if one of the brothers gets really badly hurt, or doesn’t even make it out… ohhh boy. that’s a whole ‘nother can of worms.

will probably expand a bit more on the last topic when halloween gets closer. who knows 😌

Gift of a Frenemy

Birthdays had always been a… mixed bag for Wil.

When she was able to spend it with her mothers, it was nice. They gave her their full attention, letting her pick whatever activity they did that day and whatever dish they had for supper (plus the homemade birthday cakes were nice too).

The birthdays where she had to spend it alone, however… weren’t so great. Students and teachers at school never remembered, and due to her lack of popularity, she wasn’t exactly the ‘birthday party’ type.

Until now, that is. To some, having a birthday party in the sewers was far from ideal. But to her - seeing her friends, her moms and her boyfriend all in one place, giving her the birthday party she never really had - it was absolutely perfect.

She lost track of how long it lasted, though a part of her wouldn’t have minded if it lasted forever. She laughed and joked around with her friends, played party games, ate good food, watched movies (NOT Lou Jitsu ones, thank goodness), danced and pretty much just partied to her hearts content.

“-Hey, we’re not too late, are we?” Wil turned her attention towards one of the Lair entrances, and grinned.

“N-Nope,” she told the gargoyles, hopping down from the second level to greet them, “C-Come on in!”

“Aww, thanks Wil!” Muninn said, smiling back. 

“Yeah,” Huginn nodded, “Happy birthday, kid.” He would have waved or offered her a hug, though the heavy gift bag in his and Muninn’s hands prevented him from doing so.

Not wanting them to strain their little wings any longer, Wil took the bag. “Aww, th-thanks you guys! You’re so sweet.” They flew over to her shoulders, nuzzling her cheeks a bit and making her giggle.

“Weeeell?” Muninn said after a few moments, “Come on, open it!”

“Heh, o-okay okay!” Setting it down, Wil opened up the gift bag - and while she wasn’t completely surprised by its contents, she was still touched by the meaning behind them. After all, she gave them snacks all the time, so it was only fitting they gave her snack in return. “Wowwww!”

She took each item out, wanting to fully appreciate the gift that she was sure they worked hard to get her. There was caramel popcorn, a jar of Nutella, a couple cupcakes, and even sugar cookies that had been frosted (albeit a bit messily) to look like her. “These are great!”

However, when she took out the final item - a small bag of blue, white and yellow M&Ms from the store in Times Square - she couldn’t help but smile. “Um, I-I’m sorry but- guys, y-you know I can’t eat chocolate.”

“Oh no, did we forget?” Muninn said in ‘shock’, his tone a bit forced, “Gosh, we’re sorry! Guess you’ll have to just exchange them for some non-chocolate candies.”

“Yeahhh,” Huginn nodded, smirking ever so slightly, “Though, I’d maybe wait until after you get Boss’ gift. You know, just in case.”

Wil gave them both a curious look, though didn’t get a chance to ask any follow-up questions. With one last hug to her shoulders, they wished her a happy birthday before flying up to the second level to see what other festivities the party had. 

“H-Huh…” Still wondering what Huginn meant by that, Wil gathered up all the treats and placed the bag next to her other presents before joining back into the birthday fun.

The moon was high above the NYC skyline as the Bulwarks returned home. Venny and Eva kissed their daughter goodnight before heading to bed. As for Wil herself, while the party had worn her out in the best possible way, her nocturnal feline instincts ensured that she would still be up for at least a couple hours more.

She fidgeted a bit with the (fake but still pretty) ruby covered bracelet Raph had given her as she thought about what to do next. “Maybe I’ll do some reading,” Wil mumbled to herself, thinking of the chemistry books and shoujo manga books Donnie and Leo had gotten her. Doing that would be both enjoyable and would make her sleepy. But before she could even begin to try and get comfy, there was a knock at their door.

Quietly, Wil padded down the stairs and opened the door. The tall figure in front of her took a moment to recognize, but once she saw the face underneath the hood, she wasn’t worried at all. “Y-You know,” she said, crossing her arms, “you c-could have just came to the pa-party.”

“Like I said,” Draxum grumbled, “I’m not much of a party person.” Besides, while Venny didn’t mind him and Wil and Mikey had wanted to include him, they all knew that there was still plenty of friction between him and Splinter. It would have been wrong to fill her special day with drama that she had nothing to do with. “Still, I figured it would be consider rude to let the occasion pass without a token of acknowledgement, so-” he reached into his pocket, and pulled out a vial, “Happy birthday.”

Wil’s eyes widened a bit as she took a closer look at the glass vial. Whatever was in it wasn’t green or glowing, thankfully. Instead, it was a cool, light shade of brown - almost like chocolate milk. “Wh-What is it?”

“Well… I was told you had allergies that prevented you from eating chocolate,” Draxum explained, “And judging by how many bakeries and candy shops there are in this city, I’d imagine that must be pretty frustrating. So, I thought I could help with that.”

Wil blinked, a bit shocked. “Wait, so… s-so, is this like an Antihistamine or-”

“One dose, and your dietary biology will be forever changed,” Draxum told her, “and you’ll be able to eat as much chocolate as you wish without any harmful side effects. Well, other than a stomachache and cavities, maybe.”

She stared at him, a bit shocked. She honestly didn’t know what to say. Seeing this, Draxum quickly added, “You don’t have to drink it. I won’t force you to. It’s yours to do whatever you wish with, including throw away. I just-… I thought that, after everything you’ve done for me, the least I could do is provide you with a mutation that you might actually want.”

Wil’s eyes softened a bit at that. “You big d-dummy…” Taking the vial, she hugged him. Surprised though not as annoyed with the action as he normally might have been, he patted her back. Hugs weren’t… that bad, on rare occasions.

“I n-never said I hated being a c-cat, you know,” she told him once the hug ended, “Like I t-told you before…” It had been scary at first - completely terrifying, really. From the highway all the way to church

Psych-funk trio Khruangbin and soul revivalist Leon Bridges come together for a joint EP that pays tribute to their Texan roots

This year's first unlikely collaboration has officially arrived courtesy of Houston trio Khruangbin and their fellow Texans, Leon Bridges.

Having met while touring together, both parties found a musical affinity that led them to the studio which gave birth to a four-track EP entitled Texas Sun. Like the name implies, the collection aims to encapsulate their shared love for the so-called Texas sound laced with Khruangbin's groove-laden global flavours and Bridges' soul sensibilities.

Lead single/title track promptly sets the tone with an invitation -- "Say you wanna hit the highway while the engine roars/ Well, come on, roll with me 'til the sun goes down," Bridges croons. What follows is a breezy road trip anthem that showcases the globe-trotting psychedelia favoured by Khruangbin's Laura Lee, Mark Speer and Donald Johnson.

The escapade gets location-specific on the sensual Midnight, a mid-tempo psych-rock offer set against the backdrop of Texan towns ("You stayed up in Poly/ I lived in Crowley Town/ Needed me to get you/ From your mother's house/ Baby, I'll be there"). For these love birds, escapism is on their mind -- until the sun finally sets and things get a little sultry.

Which brings us to next track C-Side. Set to a lilting Latin funk groove, the song finds Bridges is his sweet vocal spot, singing about making sweet love to a "Melanin lady covered in all-white lace". This whole sexy vibe, however, is disrupted by closer Conversion, which suddenly insists on taking us to the house of God with its many biblical allusions. "Holy spirit penetrated my stone," Bridges sings, switching from a lover to a believer. "At the cross, where I first saw the light/ And the burdens of my heart rolled away/ It was there by faith, I received my sight."

The verdict: Texas Sun may be this year's first unlikely collaboration, but the marriage between Kruangbin and Leon Bridges' musical palettes feels (and sounds) like it's destined to be.

The Weeknd / After Hours

After the forgettable lead single Heartless, The Weeknd bounces back with After Hours, the title track of his recently released fourth studio album. The six-minute song finds the Canadian R&B maverick revisiting the moody vibes of his early Trilogy materials and swapping the usual drug-fuelled hedonism for some good old romantic devotion. "I'm fallin' in too deep/ Without you, I can't sleep," he confesses as the bassline swirls in on itself in much the same way as that on The xx's Intro. In fact, this whole vibe can be described as a hybrid between The Weeknd, The xx and Lana Del Rey, which is not that surprising considering the two -- The Weeknd himself and Del Ray -- have previously collaborated on the latter's 2017 single Lust For Life.

Torrayot / The Way You Want

Though primarily known for fronting Thai outfit The Yers, Yosathorn "Aoo" Bunyatanapiwat is also a legit solo artist in his own right. Here, we're treated to The Way You Want, a new single under his solo project Torrayot. Stylistically, the track marks quite a departure from The Yers' post-punk inclination with its doom metal parts underpinned by buzzing guitar riffs. As soon as the chorus hits, the instrumentation turns less murky, allowing melodic guitar lines to shine. "Leave me right here/ Just let me die right here," Aoo muses with great clarity. "Don't you worry/ I won't be resurrected tomorrow."

Sam Smith / To Die For

"It is if everyone dies alone/ Does that scare you? I don't wanna be alone," Sam Smith's latest To Die For opens with an excerpt from 2001 cult classic film Donnie Darko. It's a fitting intro to the song dedicated to heartbreak and the scary prospect of being all by your lonesome self. "Pink lemonade sippin' on a Sunday/ Couples holding hands on a runway," the UK singer croons atop wistful piano chords. "Whilst my world's crashing down/ Solo shadow on a sidewalk/ Just want somebody to die for." Fans of Smith's soulful balladry, this should be right up your alley.

Jake Shears / Meltdown

In anticipation of the summer heat (and the planet literally burning), Scissor Sisters vocalist Jake Shears cranks up the temperature on his new single Meltdown. The song, described as "a little burnt pop confection with a sinister edge", glides with a fiery disco shimmer that's not too far removed from the Scissor Sisters sound. "This is the dawn of Hades/ This is the end of times," he sings in his signature head tone. "I'm too damn hot, better cool me off before a meltdown!" It's a fun, climate change-conscious number aimed at the dancefloor.

Ghostpoet / Concrete Pony

It's been three years since we've heard from the twice Mercury-nominated Obaro Ejimiwe, aka Ghostpoet. Today, finally, marks the return of the British singer-songwriter and the imminent arrival of his fifth album I Grow Tired But Dare Not Fall Asleep. Lead single Concrete Pony reintroduces us to the Ghostpoet's brand of indie rock-infused electronica we've known and loved while hinting at a much darker sonic palette than anything that came before. He also beefs up his hypnotic speak-singing style to the maximum, adding a layer of trip-hop menace to the track that could potentially get under your skin.

Tempted by seer Leo like... what would that look like? What would he remember, what would he forget? Would he eventually figure out he had this power?? So many possibilities

Well, as far as my interpretation of it goes, it's probably not something he ever figures out b/c the dreams are pretty vague and his memories of them very hazy.

for example, lets say he dreamed about when his brothers were fighting the Shredder without him and he was away getting the demon collar. (many unhappy returns)

the dream itself is probably just jumbled flashes of the fight, Donnie's battle shell getting shredded, a monstrous face, Donnie's DIY gravestone. Nothing that makes sense alone let alone together.

What he remembers is probably more impressions than anything (especially the longer he's been awake from that dream) So, maybe an indistinct but scary face and an unexplained fear that his twin is in danger.

By the time this event takes place, it gives off a small sense of deja vu but not enough for him to realize that this is what was happening.

If he ever did figure it out, it would probably be with the help of someone else (most likely Draxum b/c if anyone was going to figure out Leo had something mystic going down, it would probably be him)
