When I started to draw backgrounds and especially inside rooms, one thing that really helped me was to understand that even without furniture a room is not just a straight square room.
There are shapes, niches, corners, edges to a room and each room can have its own note.

Catching Dewdrops 🌿🫧
Seeing as my dream is to illustrate it’s time I started actually doing full scale environmental illustrations like I am capable of.
This is for an AU/passion project story that @night-at-the-musian and I have been working on together (alongside several other folks pitching in design ideas and their own characters)
Let me know how the artwork looks!

Scenery Ideas
In the larger villages in the mountains, they have stony walls and stairs. I’m recent times, they’ve added smoother slabs to prevent cuts people get when they fall.
Mountain villages, especially rural ones, have stairs, that are made of rocks, leading to them. They are usually really well hidden. So, unless you are from the village, you will get lost. And if you are especially not familiar with the mountains, then it might as well be a death sentence.
This was just a random sketch really. But, this would be a representation on what I am imagining villages in the outer mountains would look like. I tried trying military watch towers but it came out wonky. Like the houses did too because I was unsure how to draw it.
Would you believe me if I said this is the first time I seriously attempted drawing backgrounds? Like, I’ve drawn a bit before but only like little sketches on where things should be. Not a full on sketch. So, I am loving these sketches so much!

It would make a time that I don't draw backgrounds, so some weeks ago I decided to choose one old Sky photos of mine for draw, I choosed a photo of the sanctuary on the cutscene of the second quest from the little prince season.
Original photo.
A gif of the process (except for the rendering because I got lazy for downloading the process. :V)

some background art, sketch
Line art
Finished (?)
With characters in it 🥺
Heheheh
sooo here's some kid-core esque backgrounds slightly based on my house, the line art process was actually kind of relaxing to draw, I normally don't do very detailed linework for backgrounds, I was listening to art motivation subliminals so maybe that's why lol 😅
it kinda just came to me ig, more specifically the one with Four and Wander in it. Four stays up a hole night and ends up sleeping on the floor, and Wander comes to find him like that the next day, is the kinda sort-a story I had in my head when I was thinking abt this lol
but anyways I think these turned really nice looking hhehe :)
and kinda like the sketches a lil more lmao

Very big fan of how eerie some of the backgrounds in the original FF4 are, am practicing trying to capture their energy and likeness for future pieces.
