“Good morning, Kurt.”

“Good morning, Blaine.”

Kurt takes a few steps into the copy room, holding his file close to his chest as he leans back against one of the cupboards, patiently waiting for Blaine to finish up copying whatever he’s copying.

“So… did you have a good weekend?”

He says it with the exact same tone of voice sleezy wannaby Don Juans say “So… do you come here often?” to women who know better than to dignify that question with an answer, and Blaine looks back over his shoulder to send Kurt a look that says Really? Kurt just tilts his head in reply, challenging and maybe -just maybe- a little flirty, and Blaine shakes his head before turning back to the task at hand.

“I did, actually,” he finally answers after a short silence, and Kurt smirks. “Went for a walk in Central Park.”

Kurt gasps loudly.

“No way, so did I!”

“Oh did you now?”

“That’s crazy!”

“It is, isn’t it!”

The sound Blaine makes can only be described as a snort, and truth be told Kurt is biting his lip in order to try to keep a straight face as well, and before long they both burst out in a gigglefit.

“You do know we’re alone here, right?” Blaine asks after they’ve calmed down a little, but there’s still undeniable amusement in his voice, and Kurt shrugs.

“It’s good practice.”

He moves a little closer to the copy machine, tries to see what Blaine is doing.

“What are you doing?”

“Scanning invoices. Because e-mails were only invented 50 years ago, and some companies still don’t know how to send electronic ones.”

“That’s amazing,” Kurt says, and he watches for a bit as Blaine puts invoice after invoice on the machine.

“You haven’t heard the most amazing part yet,” Blaine says, “because after this is done I get to print out a whole ‘nother slew of invoices.”

Kurt frowns, not understanding.

“Because we need a hard-copy backup,” Blaine clarifies. “You know, in case the server gets destroyed. And the cloudserver as well. And the backupserver. And-“

Blaine huffs out a laugh, but before he can reply, there’s a sound of someone scraping their throat.

“Hu-humm!”

Mercedes is standing in the door, a little pile of papers of her own in her hands, and she’s looking at Kurt and Blaine as if she just caught them having steaming hot sex on top of the copy machine, and by the terrified looks on both men’s faces, she might as well have.

“Are you boys almost done here?”

“I am,” Blaine hurries, snagging the last few invoices as he steps as far away from Kurt as possible in the confines of the small copy room, unfortunately backing himself up in the entirely wrong corner to get out. “I’m just… If you could let me…”

He squeezes past Kurt, then comes to a sudden halt in front of Mercedes, who’s not budging, staring at Blaine with one eyebrow raised, and Blaine turns beet red.

Finally though, Mercedes steps aside, and Blaine gratefully nods at her, then looks back at Kurt.

“It was… it was nice talking to you again, Kurt,” he says. “Mercedes. Nice seeing you. I-eh… I… I have to go. See you!”

And just like that he’s out the door, a bumbling, nervous, but extremely cute ball of gel and bowtie, and Kurt doesn’t even try to hide the smile that curls around his lips at the sight of his dapper boyfriend making a fast escape.

“Hu-humm!”

It’s Mercedes again, and this time it’s Kurt’s turn to turn beet red. He’s never been one for horoscopes or astrology, but he has a very definite feeling there’s going to be a Blaine-related cross examination in his very near future.

They really need to be less careless.
