Hi there! I know it’s been said but this comic is really cool and is a great portrayal of plurality! I wanted to ask though what was the inspiration for this story?

Thank you! That's a good question.

The story was inspired by a conversation I sat in on amongst fellow members of a forums mafia community (yeah like the game). One of the regular players was talking about being plural/having alters and that she herself was a successor host to a previous one who'd gone dormant. Honestly don't know what it was about that conversation but it stuck in my memory hard as something I thought about it on and off for years after the fact until, while contemplating the conversation in bed on like a Saturday morning, the first chapter of Pipe Up entered my head via lightning in a bottle moment. (I made up the whole rest of the story to carry on where that opening chapter would leave off.) At that point I wasn't well versed in dissociative disorders at all but I did have some experience writing neurodivergent characters and I'd known plural folks using Pluralkit in some Discord servers I was in. I knew it'd take a lot of work to get right, but once the artists hopped on board it's just been a train that has yet to stop haha, I really like trying to write about these things and from the outset Tinysweetbunny and @thetruegge just carried with the art.

Natural team dynamic progression over stream for Blue team (Soulfire) [Day One of purgatory]:

Split into two main groups—

Farming/base-bound: Tina, Missa, Lenay, Niki

Fighters/Runners: Bad, Tubbo, Pierre

Tubbo is main official leader, and Bad and Tina have been acting as co-leaders per their groups for the most part. Tina had been the biggest support leader and the main person keeping morale up within the group-- Missa, Lenay, and Niki being her main supply runners/farmers that she distributed tasks through. Pierre has become main runner who turns in missions, while Tubbo and Bad run distraction. Majority of plans are thought up by Tina, Bad, Tubbo, and Pierre, and are run through Tubbo before execution.

They’ve maintained lead the entire stream for the most part.

Someone from the security team brought down our entire production system for 15 minutes today because they updated (and rebooted) all of our discovery servers at the same time.

for the uninitiated, the TLDR is that a discovery server keeps track of were every other service or server is network-wise so they can all talk to each other. instead of every server keeping is own map of where everything is (that all needs to be update when something changes), the discovery server is a central place where everything is managed.

So basically the main discovery server and all of our backup/fail-over discovery servers went offline at the same time. The result was that every service could no longer talk anyone else in the network.

needless to say, our meticulously configured fail-over failed.
