i have another 2.1 character dynamic post in the recesses of my brain but i need to get this out first
star rail's 2.1 update main plotline leans a lot more into existentialism and absurdism than i thought it would which is a really nice surprise
like i thought before 2.0 that at most it was just going to be some "oh no capitalism bad ipc bad cults also bad" thing but honestly what we got is so much more interesting. the spoilers start now
also massive disclaimer i am not a philosophist and actually i really don't like philosophy because it makes my brain hurt and i would much rather just look at logical nice things like math and plants so. if i get anything wrong please correct me
acheron's past and how she became an emanator of nihility reminds me somewhat of the absurdist theme of how people always look for meaning when there isn't any, until they finally realize that the universe is meaningless
and the entire path of nihility basically is a road towards that realization that people tread on, and the difference between the real world and star rail is that in the real world here we have people who will see that and then go write a book about a guy not crying at his mother's funeral, whereas in star rail it seems that just accepting that the universe is meaningless turns you into a pathstrider or even emanator of the nihility (not sure if i remember the details, correct me if i'm wrong)
and then aventurine's whole motivation is trying to understand why the universe is so cruel to him, and to find meaning when you have everything except freedom, both of which are absurdist themes
the leap of faith argument often attributed to søren kierkegaard claims that even though there is no rational logic for believing in god, you should do it anyway because the alternatives are madness, suicide, and ignorance. this was one solution to the problem of confronting the universe's meaninglessness: choosing to believe in a higher being regardless
later world wars i and ii both contributed heavily to the rise of absurdism as people returned from the war, having seen so many others die around them, and then just going back to a normal society with none of what they as individual soldiers had contributed seemingly doing anything. and then it happened again, but on a much greater scale with even more deaths. both wars and the destruction they brought led many people to start questioning why a supposedly moral god could allow this suffering, and this is where camus comes in and says that actually religion and nationalism both aren't good solutions, and instead we should just accept meaninglessness and keep living despite the absurdity
and i think dr ratio's scroll thing kind of relates to that
he tells aventurine to open it when he's about to die, or when he's completely out of answers for the question of how to confront absurdity
and dr ratio's answer for aventurine is to just tell him to keep living, good luck
which is. yeah
it's the argument that there are more answers to nihilism than just 1) going insane, 2) pretending like it doesn't exist, and 3) dying
it's the bold claim that despite everything, you can still choose to live
sure nothing makes sense but that does not detract from your life. it doesn't need to make sense at all
and with the understanding that things do not need to fit our human definition of meaning, we can continue on knowing our true place in the universe
and with that aventurine walks into the very big black hole like look at that thing you cannot tell me there is no symbolism there
Tumblr media
let's go back to acheron.
in the part where you get a snippet of acheron's conversation with some guy just before this cutscene, the other party states that "[IX] leave[s] woven strands of fate for humans to walk, and together THEY weave a great shadow...And this shadow silently envelops them."
which to me sounds like a statement on how people across time and space have again and again come to the same question, what is the meaning of life?
and acheron's whole color thing seems to mean that she is one of the few who, after walking so far on the path of nihility, somehow have not died yet, be it from madness or something else
like it seems implied that many many more have seen the meaninglessness of the universe and have not reacted as well as acheron has
ok i have more to say about the elation and how it in turn relates to the nihility but that will have to come later but there is. a lot of interesting things there to explore
once again disclaimer: I Am Not A Philosophist And Do Not Know What The Correct Definitions Of These Words I'm Throwing Around Are. thank you for coming to my ted talk that was more of a longwinded ramble

AVENTURINE RAMBLE ALERT!!!
tw: suicidal tendencies/ideation? let me know if i should add anything because im not used to needing to add this stuff- im usually goofy abt him but ive been thinking about this for a while now
aventurine puts quite the emphasis when he tells us that he doesn't make deals he can lose
Tumblr media
yet he doesn't seem to hesitate to risk his life, doing it willingly even, like in the final victor light cone where it was down right unnecessary
Tumblr media
sorry pal but no sane man would do that, it's almost like he craves to 'lose' one of these gambles, like dying would be a kind of victory in and of itself.
and in a way, taking his backstory into consideration, it does kind of make sense...? he doesn't have anything to live for other than being the sole survivor of the massacre. he was bought as a slave because he was lucky enough to survive. he climbed the ranks because he was lucky enough to win the bets he made, the bets he made in hopes of regaining his freedom. but at some point it wasn't about regaining his freedom anymore. even as one of the stonehearts, all he is is a chip for the ipc. and he's accepted it.
Tumblr media
he cant get out of the system (unless he dies) and he's accepted that he's just a tool. it's even mentioned in his first meeting voiceline.
"Your humble servant Aventurine at your disposal, just a cog in the machine called the IPC's Strategic Investment Department. Nevertheless, I can also play the role of friend if needed"
(wow promoted from slave to servant)
before the thrill of the gambles was 'If i win this, i'll finally have a little more freedom' but now it's are 'if i lose this, i'll lose it all' (a part of me considers that this is where kakavasha became aventurine)
he's a coward in his own way to me. i think the majority can agree that this man is suicidal (HE FUCKING ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE TIMES JUST TO 'CHECK' IF YOU COULD ACTUALLY DIE IN THE DREAMSCAPE WTF??) but he's suicidal in the way that although he does want to end his life, he's too scared to do it directly by his own hands.
but also perhaps it's not just fear. as the only avgin left he also feels the burden of making sure his people don't just 'go extinct' (for lack of a better word). his family put so much faith in him before they left. would it really be ok for him to give up like that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(side note: he mentioned before he didnt really appreciate the rain. perhaps the two are related?)
so instead, comparable to a person who stops checking for cars before crossing the road, he gambles, willingly risking his life, in hopes that his luck will eventually run out by itself...
i love him guys. i promise.

Gepard's role in the story
(crack theory territory)
So, I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed, but Gepard is extremely underused in the story, which is such a shame?
Like, I counted the times we see him in the main story and it's disappointing. We (Astrall Express Crew) see him at the start after Sampo ditches us, where he takes us to Cocolia and all, then we see him again at the end of the story when he's trying to stop us because he believes we are trying to harm the Supreme guardian and he fights us and his Sister and that's it. We don't see him again.
Then, when Topaz comes to Jarillo VI he is there for two scenes again. One where he tries to stop Topaz and gets ambushed and one at the end where he stops a woman from getting crushed to death.
Even in 'his' (Serval's) companion quest, he takes the backseat. Sure, the story was about Serval and her getting over Cocolia and Gepard's role was him just trying to show Serval that she is still needed in Belobog, but honestly they could've done more with him.
I think people forget that he doesn't know the truth of what really happened to Cocolia? (as far as I'm aware at least). Can you imagine if he learned the truth? The mental breakdown that he'll experience?
This man has been serving her for the better part of a decade. He was spoon-fed propaganda like that Underworlders are 'wild' (an item description mentions that he had to fight 'wild Underworlders' I'm pretty sure) and blindly following the Supreme Guardian's orders for years. How is he supposed to react when he learns that those 'necessary sacrifices' of his fellow guards was just an excuse to get rid of more Belobogians for the 'dream' the Stellaron promised Cocolia.
Don't forget, he knew those people. They were friends, comrades, people he saw everyday. And all of them were dying on the daily and he was powerless to do anything.
And when he learns the truth, how is he gonna react to Bronya's decision to cover it up? Were the deaths of his friends in vain? Do their families not deserve to know the truth as to why their loved ones died? How much blood does the late Supreme Guardian have on her hands? How much of it has transferred to Bronya? How much blood does Gepard have on his hands because he never questioned his orders?
Point is, he is so important to Belobog, he's the Goddamn Captain of the only military service they have there, obviously he is needed! So why underuse him so much?
Well, this is where we move more into theory territory. I think it ties in with a future Belobog quest that Black Swan's companion quest hinted at (at the end during Sampo's and Sparkle's conversation).
Since Gepard has been on the backburner, we have yet to see Sampo and Gepard interacting and the fact Sampo still doesn't have a companion quest even though he is an important lore character I think all of that will happen in the future.
I think it would work best as a quest without the Astral Express Crew, like the new POV mechanic or the cut aways used in the Loufu for Dan Heng. We could play as Gepard or Sampo as they are forced to work together for whatever reason.
We could play as Gepard as something big happens in the restricted zone (AKA the catastrophe Sparkle teased Sampo about). Maybe he gets informed about it (maybe we get a new 4* character that's a guard that informs Gepard) and when he makes it there, Sampo is already here, as if expecting it.
Maybe Bronya calls Gepard to her office after an anonymous tip was sent to her warning the Silvermane Guards of a catastrophe coming to Belobog. Maybe he is tasked with finding who sent the note as well as prepering for said catastrophe, which is how he runs into Sampo, having the two working together.
Maybe we play as Sampo, leaving clues for the Silvermane guards until we reveal ourselves, getting that 5* version. Maybe we are the one pushing the puzzle pieces so they fit on their own or maybe all through the quest we keep cutting back to a game of chess between Aha and Sampo, showing the unpredictable nature of the catastrophe as it was orchestrated by Aha just for shits and giggles.
Either way, this works great as a pathway to seeing:
a) the dynamic between Sampo (arguably the most mysterious character to come from Belobog) and Gepard (resident bbg)
b) 5* Sampo
c) (and this is mostly me playing around with concepts) Gepard becoming an emanator, becoming the first on screen character to be turned into an emanator
d) a great end to Sampo's character arc by becoming a part of Belobog (maybe he even becomes part of the Silvermanes as a detective)
e) more Geppie screen time and exploration of his character
(a few extra ramblings from my demented as a treat)
I think it's criminal that Gepard doesn't have his own companion quest and he's practically shoved in his sister's, and considering that Sampo doesn't have his own......................
I think it would be fair to have these two in a companion quest of their own.
I'm thinking of a quest where Sampo becomes a Silvermane guard (a detective to be more precise) and Gepard learns the truth about Cocolia.
I can imagine that during some investigation that Gepard is having a hard time with due to the Underworlders not trusting the Silvermane guards, he is forced to seek Sampo's help. So through Natasha, he gets ahold of Sampo and the two work together where Gepard, through investing a shady group learns what actually happened to Cocolia as well as all the lies he's been getting spooned-fed for years.
One mental breakdown and emotional conversation between the two later, they catch the criminals and Gepard takes it upon himself to make Sampo part of the Silvermane guards because of how helpful he's actually been recently (main story + new quest with the catastrophe + the companion quest + helping the Underworld in general).
The companion quest ends with Sampo becoming a detective (Heizou from Genshin Impact style) where he wants to prevent crimes from happening before they even committed. His reason being 'criminal to detective is pretty stereotypical and Aha might blow up the planet' so he challenges himself to stop crime before it's committed to keep Aha entertained enough that they don't blow up the planet but uninterested enough that they don't actively observe.
I think it would be a great end to both character arcs.
Gepard gets more screentime and learns to question orders (it'd be nice to see his friendship with Bronya damaged, cause technically he is her uncle (Cocolia adopted Bronya while she was still in a relationship with Serval, making him an uncle)). Maybe he also reaches the conclusion of still being a Silvermane Guard for the sake of protecting the people but not actively following the Supreme Guardian because he lost faith in her.
Sampo gains a home and (gasp) love (platonic, romantic, doesn't matter). He'll feel like he belongs somewhere, a permanent home. Not matter if he leaves the planet for a day or a year, he'll still be welcome. His reputation improves and his skill is used for the betterment of Belobog. His mask is allowed to slip, even just a little.

2.1 Spoilers, Aventurine analysis
I regret to say that I enjoyed Aventurine's story much less than I should have. And not because it was bad, but because it was spoiled for me by people who don't tag their leaks, mostly fanartists. People call it one of the best stories in the game so far, and I usually love emotional stuff like that, but instead I was just going through the motions.
Yeah, child Aventurine, Aventurine in shakles, whatever, I've been forcefed all this stuff a month ago, I already saw dozens of arts of it against my will, let's move on. To all these artists - I hope not adding one little "hsr leaks" to your tags was worth it.
(speaking of which - my current goal is to unhate that new cowboy guy before he actively enters the story. Currently, I can't stand the sight of him, and for exactly the same reason, untagged leaks. He seems like a potentially great character, and he's already quite popular. And hating a popular character isn't fun at all)
But not to be too negative, even though I weren't allowed to enjoy 2.1 story as much as it deserves, I still liked it quite a lot, and it's a testament to how well written Aventurine is.
One of the worst things you can do to a character is to make them emotionally static. Aventurine doesn't suffer from this at all, it's shown very well in the different ways he talks to people, and that's what I wanted to talk about.
The first way is what I call "slimey creep." It's the way he mostly talks in 2.0 to TB and most other characters, and he's quite antogonistic and unlikeable, probably because it's his goal to seem antogonistic and unlikeable.
Second is the fear and desperation that's always under the surface, carefully hidden, what his future self talks about - we can see it when Sunday does his harmony thing on him.
And third, my favorite, is what I call "disarming sincerity." Not that he's neseccerily insincere in his other modes, but this is his dippest self, hidden under all the layers of pain, fear, and cynicism. He shows it when he talks to his younger self (btw I don't usually go there, but it made me think that he'd be great with children.)
We also see him using it for self-defense - when Ratio goes too far in 2.0, he retorts with this seemingly naive "I didn't go to school and my parents "left" me", and Ratio immediately apologizes.
But most interestingly, he uses it with Ratio, most of the time they spend together in 2.1 up until the "betrayal.".
It might be a deliberate ploy to manipulate him, trying to seem more likeable, to assure his loyalty (Ratio's reaction to "I didn't go to school" showed that he's quite susceptible to it).
It might come from his realization that the end is near, and why not just be yourself and have some fun for a change.
Or, of course, it might be because he actually enjoys Ratio's company and feels safe enough to show this hidden vulnerable side of himself.
The truth is probably somewhere in between.
They both joke and bicker (with Ratio remembering from time to time that he's supposed to show his "hatred" of Aventurine), and they both seem to really enjoy it. They argue about birds, Aven gets excited about the sandpit, and so on.
Let's take the joke Sparkle made about Aventurine and Sunday (about undressing and kneeling down) - it's mean and maybe even cruel, considering certain things from Aventurine's past that weren't directly implied but can be assumed, probably. And let's compare it with the joke he himself makes about him and Sunday ("now that I'm tiny I can hide on Sunday's clothes and spy on the Family, hehe, uwu"). It's a joke you'd expect from a child. Or from an adult who feels comfortable enough in your presence that they aren't afraid to seem childish or silly.
So yeah I'd really like to see them interact in a less stressful situation after these events. tbh I think they'd talk in more or less the same way. Aventurine already feels as safe and open around Ratio as he can allow himself to. And Ratio is too rigid in the way he speaks, he won't change that easily.
In defiance of a tired stereotype of an eccentric genius who is bad with people, Ratio seems quite good at understanding them. What he's bad at is expressing his feelings in a "convencional" way.
(he only sounds sincere and emotional when he talks about abstract matters he's passionate about, like his little speech to Screwllum at the end of his quest. He probably sounds like that when he talks about science too.)
But when it comes to his feelings towards people he becomes even more formal and strict (remember his messages from the valentine's day event on twitter)
I can imagine his thought process after he leaves Aventurine in 2.1.
"I verbally expressed my concern to him, which should reassure him of my loyalty and support. Furthermore, I provided him with an insightful and reassuring message in written form. So he should be fine."
btw speaking of that note, when I read it, I can imagine Ratio saying "Do stay alive" aloud. But I can't imagine how he'd say the next line, wishing him luck. I mean, he can't say it in his usual "I'm tired of idiots" way of speaking, right? Something to look forward to.

Sooooo in ur authors notes of nostalgic chill u mentioned that you’d be willing to explain how Yanqing’s going thru it on ur tumblr….. mayhaps you could talk about it?
(Ur fics really good btw!! And I love all you’re art for hsr!!!)
disclaimer for those who come across this withotu reading my fic: this is a character analysis for yanqing in this fic. ignore canon. it holds no dominion here. thank you hoyoverse for the characters but ill take it from here. anyways, people say the fic is good, so consider reading?
anyways. IM SO EXCITED TO ANSWER THIS, forgive the long drabble youre about to read.
OK SO. first up standard YQ and JY.
Tumblr media
YQ has been kept mostly in the dark about the sedition of IL, but he has a rough idea about what went down. in his head, it went like this: "something bad goes down and everyone abandons each other for self preservation."
this isnt... wholly right, but he's not entirely wrong either. the whole point is that YQ has only ever known the aftermath of the event---blade being angry and vengeful, JL being... herself, and then JY suffering almost constant heartache.
so, when he meets the younger JY, hes very... uncomfortable
Tumblr media
not only is this version nothing like the general, hes also much happier. hes surrounded by people who YQ believes will one day abandon him entirely, causing him to spend the rest of his life grieving a group of people that never seemed to care for him as much in return. (note, this is how YQ sees it)
not only this, but seeing HCQ together makes him realise that he is closer to the general than any of the HCQ members were to JY---and devolves into a whole new crisis.
YQ has, for the past 10 or so years, been the general's closest confidant---his son, his only family, his apprentice and his best friend. knowing that he hasnt been able to make a dent in the grief left behind by people who don't appear to be more than his friends takes a large chunk out of YQ's self confidence, and he begins questioning how important he is to JY.
now, normally, YQ would bring this up with the general. but currently, thats not really possible. he tries, after losing to JL, but the more he talks to the younger JY, the more he starts seeing the JY he knows instead.
not only that, but the entire fact that he is in the past has YQ constantly on edge. he doesnt know if his actions will change the future he comes from, so having to watch this inevitable trainwreck forming around him without being able to help adds an extra layer of unease.
i was going to talk a bit about JL but i now realise i havent actually finished that chapter so were all just going to hafta wait for that!

HSR Analysis about the Xianzhou Arc
With 1.3 Hoyo give us the official end of the Xianzhou Arc and I don't think everyone is satified with the last Trailblaze Quest. I think if they gave this mission with 1.2, it will have been a bit better. Not the best, but seriously, it was just a quest on going around places. But the final cutscene… was worth it the wait.
Let's go in order. 1.2 Starts with the unlikely quartet composed by Stelle, March, Welt and Tingyun managed to go to the Alchemy Commission where we see the fruits of Fu Xuan's commanding power as an acting general.
Tumblr media
Let's skip fast and go to the moment when Fu Xuan tasked the trio to go and help by diving into the mist and turn off the Elixir Crucibles.
Tumblr media
A precision, she asked the "unexpected guests" cit Jing Yuan because
Tumblr media
Never once she says that Tingyun was to help them, Tingyun's job was to bring them to places, like the Artisanship Commission or the Alchemy Commission. If you paid attention, while we walked to the crucibles there was a piece of conversation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here she sounds actually excited, while at the beginning Tingyun wasn't that happy to be in our company, she was nervous because the situation was unstable. So, here, I suppose, is Phantylia already talking. Or let more of her own personality shine.
Now, after the battle with Dan Shu, she said two things:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, at first, it seems like Phantylia gave the Stellaron to the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus (DoSM for short) and made a promise with them. And it wouldn't be wrong to think this way, Phantylia is a Lord Ravager, a follower of Nanook, she should be able to have a Stellaron at ready. Actually, I read a very interesting post here on Tumblr about language, and I think that while the English translation is good, it may lose some context in between the translation. Like about the subjects of a phrase. The exact content of the promise between the DoSM and Phantylia is still missing, but we know one objective: fuse the power of the Abundance with the power of the Destruction.
And it's terrifying if you think about it: Destruction has a huge attack, Abundance can cure itself... and we already saw a character who has both: Blade, a character on the path of Destruction who is also struck with Immortality. In gameplay he sacrifices a part of his HP to do more damage, only to regain later.
Let's go back to Tingyun and Phantylia. Like Welt says, mostly to reassure both March and Stelle, there is no certain hint to say that Tingyun was working willingly with Phantylia, but without the body, we don't know.
Tumblr media
Which is a good question. But, for me, no body, no death. It basically is a rule in writing a story: if you don't find the body, that character can always appear later. So, the fact that Phantylia didn't leave a body will lead only to one thing: the body was fake. If she left the body, Fu Xuan would have realized immediately that Tingyun's body wasn't the real deed. Which it will bring us, by doing a jump, directly to the last quest, the "funeral". We met a lot of people who knew Tingyun, but the entire thing about Tingyun left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Even Yukong says some things that contradict herself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, after some reconsideration, it has some strategy to that. Phantylia says "It would've been nice to observe a little longer" before revealing herself in her ghost-flame-like appearance. Possibly, Phantylia didn't want to reveal herself at all, let the DoSM and the Cloud Knights kill each other while she stays in the background and sees how the Xianzhou Loufu destroys itself from the inside. By declaring officially that Tingyun is dead, doing the all funeral and letting the Trio gives the news, it would destroy every other chances for Phantylia to use that face again. Meanwhile, Yukong would search for her but not in an official way. Strange that we didn't find any letter like the voiceline says, or maybe they didn't search her shop.
Tumblr media
My considerations: they did everything to say that Tingyun is dead without saying explicitly, but I stand my ground and say Tingyun is not dead, not yet anyway.
But let's go back to the past, after this Trailblazer quest, the narrative switches its main character and we are back to Dan Heng! Like I said, he is the second main character on this arc and it was done perfectly.
Seriously, the switches between our characters, Dan Heng's parallel but different journey to his past... well done, HOYO.
Our more unlikely TRIO, Dan Heng, Sushang and Luocha, arrive in the same place, probably a few moments later our other trio left.
Tumblr media
Sushang went back to the Cloud Knights, Luocha has one more deal to see and Dan Heng needs to leave before they ask who he is.
The past haunts Dan Heng, literally, the ghost of the past lives of the Vidyadhara appear to talk to him and Blade, the man he usually he runs from is waiting for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that woman, perhaps Jingliu?
The one thing I can't explain is the transformation in Imbibitor Lunae, why the change in clothes? Dan Heng wasn't fashionably enough with his regular clothes and needed a change? Anime Logic, I know.
Tumblr media
And poor Yanqing, that tries to fight literally legends, first Jingliu and now Dan Heng and Blade together.
Tumblr media
Luckily, to babysit everyone there is Kafka. Look at Blade! He looks like someone who is regretting his choices.
Before reuniting with his friends, Dan Heng says a few words to Jing Yuan
Tumblr media
which is something really important. Dan Feng and Dan Heng are two different persons, even if Dan Feng didn't go through the hatching cycle. Right now, he is Dan Heng of the Astral Express and I was almost in tears in reading it, since there were many red flags about Dan Heng leaving the Astral Express Family. Even the scene that is a call back to the beginning, with March and Stelle's hands stretched out to Dan Heng was touching
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DO NOT SEPARATE! My babies çç
From here, everything seems to go fast. The cutscene with the music and the CGI that was the waves was so well done (basically all the money went to the waves), they went to fight Phantylia and what a fight it was. But unfortunately, our MC didn't get the power of the Hunt. Looking at how the story went, it was kind of assumed but not granted. The Xianzhou didn't lose faith in the Aeon of the Hunt, not like Cocolia did with Qlipoth. And in this Arc the moral protagonist was Dan Heng, with his past and his quest to accept but also move on with his future, it was not a time for our MC to get a power up. Maybe in the next world, unlike Genshin who has a fixed number of places (7 Archons, 7 Elements, 7 Nations etc), Honkai Star Rail is bigger, it has a lot more of Aeons and we have seen the powers of Aeon whose Path is not playable, who says that HOYO won't introduce more playable Paths?

Phantylia is merely playing with us, she is barely amused with our performance. In terms of boss fights, Cocolia is more emotionally charged and the best for music. Phantylia is part of a bigger story, the same story that Elio scripted and Kafka is directing and, as Kafka said, we gained a powerful ally in the Xianzhou Luofu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I'm gonna bet that during the final fight with Nanook, the Xianzhou Loufu will appear as the cavalry, just like Jing Yuan did in the Dan Heng Companion Quest.
In the end, the Xianzhou Arc was different from Belobog Arc, the ending was unsatisfying because there were still a few things missing, and it didn't feel like an ending, like it did with Belobog with the nice pictures, it was more of a "see you later", so if I can guess, there will be another arc in the Xianzhou and it will be about the post cutscene.
I'm still a firm believer that Luocha is not Void Archives, but he played a part in this. He likely brought the Stellaron to the Xianzhou, possibly smuggled Jingliu to Xianzhou, all for destroying the Abundance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was an incredible cliffhanger that leads to more questions than answers. We now assume that Luocha smuggled the Stellaron to the Xianzhou, Jingliu wasn't on the ship only to search for Blade, Jing Yuan needs a vacation and never comes back to his place as General.
So, final consideration: we are not over with the Xianzhou, even with our jade abacus, we will need to go back and in that time the MC will get the power of the Hunt. This arc is like a chapter 1, a chapter where we met most of its characters, it explained the conflict between Lan and Yaoshi, the problems that Yaoshi's gift left, it gave us the first glance to the bigger story with Elio and his Stellaron Hunters and their objective to kill Nanook. While Herta Space Station was a tutorial and Jarilo-VI was an opening act for the ways of trailblazing (a story that have a conclusion and we are only witness to their efforts to move on), Xianzhou is the very first big world where there wasn't a real ending. Yes, we stopped the Stellaron, but the conflict is still happening. We have more information about us, about one of our friends, we have met the Stellaron Hunters, talked to them (Silver Wolf is the more social of the group and has visiting rights!), but it's like we have gained nothing because there is still so much to do in the Xianzhou.
I'm sorry if this is too long, but for me it's important to say that the last quest we did in v1.3 wasn't the final quest for the Xianzhou, we just put a stop to Trailblaze more, but we will be back for a second chapter on that ship, after all "there is still more to explore".

[FABLE OF THE STARS]

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ೃ⁀➷: summary: just who are these people who live beyond the cosmos and stars? well, question no further for the fable of stars shall tell you their tale.
ೃ⁀➷: word count: 1052
ೃ⁀➷: reference/inspiration: fable of the stars #1
Tumblr media
[note:] If there is anything else triggering here that I didn’t list in the warnings section, please tell me.
[warnings:] bad metaphoric writing, bad attempt of character analysis, lowercase, not spoiler free, can be considered a x reader work if you squint, noah tries explaining HSR character lore (and failing miserably).
Tumblr media
KAFKA, STELLARON HUNTER.
she is the embodiment of something to be greatly feared, yet the very concept of fear is none of any familiarity to her. coming from a planet wherein not knowing fear is the norm, she embarks a journey as a stellaron hunter to search for value in life. she's a kin to a spider, weaving and intertwining several threads of fate—turning into another one of destiny's thousands of faces, pulling you in, luring you in, till you find yourself caught in her web of whispers, at the mercy of kafka herself—unable to get out of the web she has created for you.
creeping and crawling, she is a master of not letting you expect what her next move shall be, wondering what she will do next leaves you quivering with anticipation and anxiety. slipping past the fingers that have tried to put her in a cage to be captured are left with just a mere glimpse of her, one might say she holds excellence in leaving you on a cliffhanger. she is the unknown danger that many have fallen victim to, the reason why wanted posters are loitered across the streets to remind you to proceed with caution in mind once you've caught sight of any appearance of her.
mysterious and alluring, the lack of information shrouds her in many secrets, how many do she have, how many do we actually know, the mass amount of questions she evokes is a feat itself—she really is a compelling yet treacherous individual. just by looking at her alone, she already attracts your attention to her, not even a finger has been lifted, this force beckons you to her, this curiosity begging you to see past the soulless eyes of hers—perhaps there's more that meets the eye.
"a member of the stellaron hunters. a dashing, collected, and professional beauty. used the enchantment of spirit whisper to set up a trailblazer to absorb the stellaron. her hobby is shopping for and organizing her collection of coats."
Tumblr media
BRONYA RAND, SUPREME GUARDIAN.
born in the underworld, she was chosen from the masses of children, to be taught and to be trained to lead belebog to its peak. as the chosen heir, she is the diamond among the rough, fortunate enough for her shine to pass through the gaps of thousands of rocks. through the rigorous education she has received, the young and capable princess you see now is trying her absolute best to not fail her people, to lead them into a life of prosperity, and to make belebog the better place she has envisioned her mind since she was a child.
'make the world a better place' a thought that pushed her to go through countless of lengths for her people, her determination is one like no other, she is one admirable commander—setting her eyes on a goal, finding a path that gives her the most leeway to that goal and if she doesn't find one, she makes one instead. despite the countless praise and leadership she holds, she too has seeds of doubt implanted into her mind. she is as human as the rest of us, questioning whether her training she's received is enough to lead her people to the lives they've always dreamt of.
discovering her mother's secret and losing her in that same process, bronya has a lot to shoulder—she has worn many heavy silvermane guard armour for most of her life, yet nothing has ever been more heavier than death itself. she recalls the first funeral she ever attended, her savior that sacrificed his life to save hers—at the cost of her being alive, he died in her place instead. she couldn't even see the face of the person who traded his life for her safety, she wishes that their places could be swapped, yet what difference would that make? one out of the two would still be dead no matter what. learning to bear these heavy burdens is the only way to become a true leader, the young captain had told her in the past, and to that she replies, he's right.
"heir apparent to the supreme guardian of belobog. she possesses pride befitting a princess, but also the determination and integrity of a soldier."
Tumblr media
HIMEKO, THE NAVIGATOR.
the girl who was lost, who walked and walked in the dark night till she lost her footing and fell straight to the mud. the girl who was a college freshman and majored in interstellar travel dynamics, the one who saw the express drifting in the ocean—lost and alone, just like her. the one who repaired the express when it hit her homeland, the express asked her whether she'd like to travel the stars together, she pondered what kind of journey they would embark on. a journey to the beginnings, it says—let's go then, she replies with no hesitation, just as you brought me home, so would I take you home, too.
she packs her treasure in a suitcase, molecular saw, an escaped satellite, and countless other contraptions. she carries her suitcase around as proof of the many things she's discovered and set her eyes on. a history of all the planets and adventures she has gone through and the many more she'll encounter in the near future. she knew how lonely this journey would be, passengers would come and go in the express, even if she got to know them on a deeper level, even if they stayed with the express to start till finish, it's all but momentary.
her memory serves her well, no matter how many companions she comes across, she remembers all of them like she just saw them yesterday. the little habits, the little routines, the all-nighters that dan heng pulls to organize all the docs in the data bank, march 7th's habit of sleeping in the most, welt's expression when he first taste her handmade coffee, her chit-chats with pom-pom, she remembers them all—the birthdays, the anniversaries, hobbies. when the day comes they all depart from one another into separate ventures, the moment they all say their goodbyes, she'll smile as their travels have come to an end.
"the one who repaired the astral express. to witness the vast starry sky, she decided to travel with the astral express. her hobby is brewing handmade coffee."

[author's note: saw a hsr tweet about these revelation cards and my hsr obsessed ass said "imma write about that" and so i made this. you might noticed i didn't write march and that's because i wanna do three people per fabe of the stars instead of four so it be even, yknow. i can't guarantee a part two to this but if my motivation is up for that challenge i might do a part two who knows.]

hey this is kinda short n random but DUDE.
thanks for putting your thoughts out into the world. srsly. your critiques and insightful, genuine, thoughtful writings about some of my fav shows (amphibia, toh) and games (hsr) have given me real moments to sit back and think on lots of things.
you're excellent at clearly stating a point without antagonizing or trashing the other side of the argument, and always seem clear and well-spoken. that's hard to find in analysis or "hot take" style blogs, ESPECIALLY when it comes to writing.
it's hard to get mad at anything you've put down, and easy to let it actually bring up interesting questions to chew on. also, your writing is very enjoyable and fun- I'm gonna see if I can snag me a copy of Crises Girlfriends soon!
keep doing your thing, man. it's great
Thank you. All of this genuinely means a lot to me, especially, frankly, the part about avoiding antagonizing or belittling the other side. My ability to speak my thoughts clearly and bring points together is just kind of part of how my brain is put together (only half of which I can blame on being on the spectrum maybe) but the concept of not being an asshole while I try to make a point wasn't something I always had.
That's not just me being humble either. I lived with a friend for two years, helping take care of their mom while they helped give me a place to exist while dealing with my depression, and they straight up told me that who they had known five years before then wouldn't have been allowed on their couch. I literally stopped being a part of Discord or Skype groups (to really date this) for I think at least three years because I would spend so much of my time just trying to prove I was right. To win and show how superior I was.
The change from needing to be right and instead to simply have a conversation/debate was a major change to how I saw analysis and ended up the way I am. Not to say my emotions never get the better of me, not helped by when I got into analysis being when The Nostalgia Critic reigned supreme (I haven't watched him in well over half a decade now), but I try to keep it more about the work itself. I've even talked about in multiple blogs how my opinion blogs are less just about reviewing things or the like (again, not perfect, especially with TOH) but instead a lot more about teaching lessons and thoughts on things that I think can genuinely help people.
To that end, belittling others is counterintuitive. For as upset as I get with the Amphibia fandom about their takes on the ending, I do empathize with them. I can understand why they wish for the ending they wanted, even if I disagree on it being better. I can see a lot of why TOH, especially as someone's first big fantasy work, would mean a lot to them and draw them in and be something special, even if a long term fantasy fan might find a lot of it trying too hard. Not only is that approach more humane but it also allows for better analysis because for as easy as it can be to say how something is bad, it's a lot harder to genuinely address why that work may also be popular. At least, you know, without being an asshole and going "It's wish fulfillment so only losers who want to escape this world could enjoy it." That's reductive and useful to literally no one.
Anyways, I think that's more than enough bragging? shrug On my part. Again, thank you so much and I hope you enjoy Crises Girlfriends when you get the chance! Have a good day everyone and see you next tale.

Omg Veririn’s HSR OC ?!?! This is my bbg Amethyst (She was Ratio’s rival/friend) when she was the part of the intelegentsia guild (she’s partially blind and has unique burn marks on her face and neck) [EXCUSE MY BAD DRAWING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OFFICE]
Tumblr media
She has 2 PhDs in Economics and Psychology but she fails to earn her third one because of a laboratory accident that made her right eye blind, she vanished from her hospital room leaving behind her old identity
Ratio meets her again this time she’s no longer her past self but rather someone entirely new, she works as a part of IPC Strategic Investment Department along side Aventurine and Topaz
When she was writing her dissertation for her psychology degree, she wrote a comprehensive academic journal about the behavioural analysis of people with high intelligence or geniuses to annoy Ratio (bcz it was based on him) surprisingly he liked the report-

i'm back on my regularly scheduled insanity with my regular guy, a certain general from the luofu
recently i saw a post about the resilience of ginkgo trees and then i ended up doing some more reading into the history of ginkgo trees and honestly it might be a stretch but i am drawing some parallels here
ginkgo trees are the only surviving species of their entire order, and have outlived many of the organisms in their ecosystems, including their pollinators, and have managed to survive this long because of their long lifespans which allowed them to just live until humans came along and decided that these trees were pretty and worth planting everywhere
the species has no close relatives because they all died (sound familiar? ok i'm sorry) and it is known as a living fossil, similar to horseshoe crabs because of how it has remained relatively unchanged over the course of its evolutionary history, all due to the species' extreme longevity and tenacity
that's the basics of it, and now we go into the "i've connected the dots/you haven't connected shit" phase of this post
ginkgo is a very obvious symbol on the luofu, appearing in marastruck soldiers, jing yuan's trailer, and, if i had better graphics, probably the particle effects in the exalting sanctum, though that's a bit more of a stretch
and also jing yuan literally takes a ginkgo leaf and puts it on the chessboard. it's right there
so clearly the really long life for a xianzhou general + everyone of his time being dead (except for maybe huaiyan? unconfirmed though i think) is really easy to draw parallels to
but i don't think ginkgo represents jing yuan necessarily, it feels like a more general symbol for the entire luofu as a whole, because in a way jing yuan and the luofu are one and the same
the luofu is currently in a period of relative stability despite having lost the vast majority of its military power due to both the sedition of imbibitor lunae and the shuhu thing that preceded it
and jing yuan is the single person responsible for tiding it over until the younger generation (yanqing, fu xuan, sushang etc) have grown up enough to be able to reliably take over the luofu
and like a ginkgo tree, jing yuan, the only one left from his time, stays with the luofu, waiting until the children are ready to step up and take the luofu to greater heights and back on the trail of the hunt
the marastruck and why they're represented by ginkgo is another question entirely that i cannot answer at this moment but yaoshi should've given the xianzhou people more long terminal repeats
Tumblr media
i'm sure i sound like this right now

okay so, i saw the uzi neg post, and i just wanted to give a few pointers on it
anon was cooking, but his distaste for uzi bled through the post, so i cleaned up a little
Uzi can totally be an unlikable character at times, but i think that’s the point. No one in murder drones is a “good” or “bad” person, they’re all morally grey and it’s very much a slider. 3-4 presents VERY good points; We don’t see any genuine reaction from her classmates about how they perceive her as, but rather a generalized, exaggerated view of her.
From what it seems like, Uzi does not actively fight or properly defend herself socially; she simply molds into the place other students have put her in as the edgy outcast, and participates in hurting others just as much as Lizzy, Rebbeca etc. She does not actively reach out to other people, because most of her relationships happened when the OTHER party has to reach out to her. (Thad, N, V, they all had to make attempts.)
As for the last paragraph… She she definitely possessed, and Uzi would NEVER exert that much violence against her classmates, but you cannot tell me that rampage wasn’t apart of Uzi’s desire to hurt her classmates.
Anon horrifically fumbled at the end. All he had to do was delete the last paragraph and this would have been the PERFECT character analysis. No hate of course, it’s just he had a really valid argument and it was soiled a bit /srs

I’m probably use this blog for writing, talking about said fandoms, obsessively thinking about my ocs for each said fandom, and making very politically(/j) incorrect analysis about characters. And, more! I’m sorry this is so long, really just ask me abt anything and it’ll eventually happen.
Last thing: I might post about my own stories that are… painfully unfinished, so here’s a brief intro about each (they’re all heavily inspired by my respective fandoms, we don’t talk abt that):
*Insert Dramatic Title* (IDT): A robot by the name of Edis is asked to save humanity from a prophecy stating that, from five years from now, the world will end.
Slaughterhouse (SH): A pair of twins live in a “Haven Town” where there outside world was shrouded into an apocalypse. They learn how to truly survive in such a restrictive environment and find out the subtle corruption of their system.
‘Vest of the ‘Usual (VOU): A young boy has unusual abilities that leads him to work in the government, which depicts him having to do the unthinkable: go to school. And, do his job, that too.
Act I (A1): Olesia Lexina has had one dream all her life: protect humanity from the evil that is godlyhood! This follows her journey through the ideal of becoming on of the top members of the “Guardians of Humanity”.
Project: New World (P:NW): The government has allowed a project and organization by the name of “New World” to attempt to “purify humanity of all of its wrongdoings” and it has taken the world by storm; unfortunately, Chara has absolutely no interest in any of it.
The Eight Tragedies (T8T): An Angel has come to earth to ultimately destroy everyone on it, in which a humanities major named Reminiscence gives the world (her two friends) a chance to fix their problems before it can do so—by going into the past eight times to fix mistakes that should’ve never happened.
Majic Girl: BOOM ★ (MG:★): this one is something I’ve been meaning to get motivation to work on properly. A young freshman girl watches her whole world turn upside down (close to literally) to as some sort of eldritch horror resurfaces the earth! And she is one of the few people making the attempt to kill it.
$1 Supermarket ($1): The economy as we know it had crashed after inflation has risen way too high to the point even the upper class finds it hard to buy anything. Thus, a brand new chain store by the name of $1 Supermarket has arisen! Where everything is exactly $1! And there’s like, a bunch of monsters everywhere, but that’s besides the point.
Okay, that’s it now I promise. Thank you for reading this far!

i’m in full agreement with your post about shipping, and i have an example of how bad it’s gotten. i know you’re not in the fandom, but in honkai star rail there’s a character called dr ratio. ever since his drip marketing (before even making an in-game appearance), everyone has been screaming about how he’s a “kavetham lovechild” to the point that kavetham is recommended if you’re looking for dr. ratio content. there’s also kavetham content in honkai star rail fandom tags on ao3 because of it.
there’s no character design analysis, no personality analysis, no lore analysis. just “haha kavetham child” even tho he’s nothing like them at all and they would probably despise him if they ever met. people only look for kaveh or alhaitham in his personality and never anything else. i’ve had to block both of their character tags because i kept getting their content instead of dr ratio content.
i’m so sorry for the long winded rant, but i’m getting so tired of shipping culture just ruining characters before they’re even fully released.
Oh no I'm def in on whatever goes on in hsr too. I have witnessed what you've written and it's genuinely so bad and CRINGEY I hate you people

The Perks of Failing: How Your Mistakes Can In Fact, Make You Stronger
Best School in HSR Layout
Everyone encounters failure at some time in life because it is a normal aspect of existence. Failure can be a challenging and terrible experience, whether it involves failing an exam, not securing a job, or suffering a personal setback. Failure can be difficult, but it can also provide an excellent opportunity for learning. In actuality, failures and setbacks have often led to the greatest victories in history. Here are a few advantages of failing and how you can become stronger by learning from mistakes:
Developing Resilience
The ability to develop resilience is one of failure’s most important advantages. Failure forces us to face our errors, consider what did go wrong, and come up with solutions to make things better in the future. Although this journey can be challenging and uncomfortable, it can also be powerful. We can build the resilience necessary to overcome obstacles and setbacks in the future by reflecting on our errors and making improvements.
Practicing a Growth Mindset
Failure also has the advantage of fostering a growth attitude. We are compelled to face our inadequacies and limitations when we suffer failure. This might be a humiliating situation, but it can also be a chance for improvement. We can cultivate the growth attitude required for long-term success by accepting failure as an opportunity of learning and work to improve.
Learning from Mistakes
The ability to learn from failures is perhaps the most apparent advantage of failure. Failure forces us to look at what went wrong and find opportunities for improvement. Although this process of thought and examination can be challenging, it can also be quite beneficial. By reflecting on our failures, we can acquire the abilities and information required for success and prevent repeating the same errors in the future.
Encouraging Innovation
Failing can also foster creativity. We are compelled to think outside the box and come up with fresh solutions to issues when we encounter setbacks or failures. Breakthroughs and novel discoveries may result from this process of exploration and creativity that would not have been feasible without failure.
Fostering Resilience in Times of Adversity
And finally, experiencing failure can help develop resiliency in the face of difficulty. We are compelled to think outside the box and come up with fresh solutions to issues when we encounter setbacks or failures. Breakthroughs and novel discoveries may result from this process of exploration and creativity which wouldn’t have been feasible without failure.
So how can we take what we’ve learned from failure and apply it to our favor? The following advice:
Accept Failure as a Learning Opportunity
Accepting failure as a teaching opportunity is the first step in learning from it. Try to reframe failure as a chance to grow and learn rather than as a bad experience. You can approach future problems with a more upbeat and resilient perspective by accepting failure as a learning experience.
Recognize What Went Wrong
Finding the problem is the next step. It can be appealing to place the blame for our failure on outside events or other individuals. But it’s critical to acknowledge our shortcomings and pinpoint the particulars that contributed to the failure. Although it might be challenging, self-reflection and analysis are crucial for learning and development.
Build a Plan for Improvement
It’s crucial to create a plan for improvements once you’ve determined what went wrong. To do this, you might have to learn new skills, alter how you approach a challenge or look for more assistance or resources. You can use failure as a launching pad to success by creating an improvement plan.
Seek Feedback
Finally, it’s critical to get other people’s opinions. This can be difficult since it might force us to face our flaws and vulnerabilities. Nonetheless, other people’s opinions can be immensely helpful.
At MS Dhoni Global School, we encourage students to put into perspective their failures at different aspects of life as opportunities for growth and further improvements. Both our academic and co-curricular activity staff make sure that our students don’t view their failures as discouragement. Rather, we push them to see failure as minor roadblocks that can be overcome with effortful pivots in the right direction.
