Local leaders from Badung Regency in Bali recently gathered to discuss the potential establishment of tourism villages in Canggu district, responding to the area's rapid tourism growth over the past seven years. Former Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, advocated for recognizing Canggu's Traditional Village as an official tourism destination to manage it effectively and secure funding for cultural and environmental preservation. Waste management, a pressing issue, was also addressed by Suarsana, who outlined plans for waste processing and collaboration with entrepreneurs to make Canggu a model for waste management pending land acquisition.

Suarsana also outlined financial goals to increase the village's income for asset acquisition and economic improvement. Canggu's transformation into a tourism hub presents both challenges and opportunities for sustainable development, especially as Bali aims for culturally sensitive tourism practices.
