i actually adore this episode. I think I've watched it 6 times. all the nanami eps r BALLERRR. such good humor and such good setup for the strange friendship these five all have. the Juri Miki Utena Anthy Nanami squad is so insane and i would love to make a chart about just those 5 specifically.

I think this is the first time we see Juri outside of just the student council? or just her being normal lol. my queen. Miki's cool too if he wasnt such a lying simp

JURI AND MIKI MY FAVORITE GAY LESBIAN BESTFRIENDS!!! i love that they r just besties and thats it. I love the low-key way their care and appreciation for each other is shown contrasted to the over the top fantastical/literally fantasy genre relationships everyone else has... huh its like the relationships become a performance the way gender is a performance... but these two are so casual it shows they truly care (LIKE HOW ANTHY AND UTENA DREAM OF OPENING A FLOWER SHOP. THEY WANT THE NORMAL).

but also.. the ridiculous is what breaks them all out of the loop so i think its just that being able to stop performing and just be shows comfort. so be ostentatious and chill about it at the same time I guess! bye what am i even saying.

also the animals- Anthy likes animals prob because they arent humans... or maybe can be controlled...

LIVE LAUGH LOVE NANAMI EPISODES. This episode is so goddamn funny. It really sets up how Anthy will mess with Nanami relentlessly throughout the whole show, but also that they are very similar. This is also when the sunlit garden first appears, which I always wonder if Anthy is trying to use it to remind Utena of when they met when they were younger, but since she forgot that day it doesn’t work. Also Mickeys goddamn stopwatch. I know the theory that it comes right after important lines of dialogue, but there’s still not really a reason for why he does it. I also think there’s probably something there with the whole wild animals thing that’s in Nanami episodes and how they are associated with Anthy, but I can’t remember if there’s a story that leads to.
