Apparently it’s #balletday ??? Scroll to see some of my earlier pics when point shoes were bae 🤣 Sone if my pics were cut off 😡 butttttt... It’s hard to put into words the impact ballet has had on my life. It’s a huge part of who I am today, it taught me discipline, structure, strong work ethic, gave me a killer set of calves 😜But it also brought out parts of me that I still struggle with today, low self confidence, body issues, eating issues and a constant strive for perfection that we all know never comes. - But “ballet” never did those things to me. There is no rule that in order for me to enjoy ballet I have to be thin, there is no rule that I have to be perfect, that I have to eat a certain way, that I have to be flexible, that I have to be...whatever someone thinks a ballerina is. Those rules were imposed by others, not by ballet, and I don’t follow them anymore. _ I will absolutely say the good outweighs the bad and I still love ballet but have a different approach. I love the foundation it provides so that I can better execute the dancing I do today. I love turning and leaping and being winded and worn out by it all. _ So here’s to my very first love and all the amazing ness it has brought me. If my parents hadn’t seen me dancing like crazy in the living room when I was 3 and threw me into classes I wouldn’t be where I am today.
