REMEMBERING THE 320TH BARRAGE BALLOON BATTALION (Featuring new face Serigne Lam, designed from a shot by NYC lensman Max A. Henry.) Since I didn’t do an “American Swag” joint for Memorial Day this year I decided I’d try to create one for D-Day. A fortuitous coincidence presented itself last week when I stumbled on a very promising new male model of color bursting on the scene named Serigne Lam. I knew I wanted to post something to promote this 20 year-old Senegalese brother as the June Men’s Fashion Weeks jumped off. (Keep your eyes on this extremely talented brother!!! His portfolio is hella strong and he’s only been on the scene less than a year.) When I saw this shot by Max Henry, I immediately made the connection with the history of the African American 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion. The air of youthful confidence captured in the shot was perfect. It seemed a fitting way to honor the 320th on this 75th anniversary of D-Day. THANK YOU, BROTHERS! Hello, hello!! <333 So i take some steps when I look up for new faceclaims. That’s the order:

1) Model Agency Websites

2) Netflix

3) Cinema Academy

4) Spotify

5) Youtube

Now you may think, what the hell?! Wait, let me explain!

First I go through some Model Agencies I found trustful ( rednyc , bananasmodels ,  whynotmodels , models ,  16paris )

P.S When I found the model I like, I search for his nationality and heritage to see if he fits the character I have in mind. 

But, Gabi, what do you do when you don’t find them in these websites?! That’s when Netflix and Cinema Academies enter. I go around searching movies that take place in the country my character was born by searching “country movies” on Netflix and searching the Cinema Academy of the country. Then, I go around the cast of all those movies to see If I found someone that fits.

But, Gabi, lucky is not by your side and you still didn’t find someone!! And now?! I go to the music field and look for a music playlist of the country I want and search the top 10 videos of the said country on Youtube. I usually go through Rap-Trap music, but that’s because it’s already on my recommended music, but I believe pop music it’s a better place to start.

If I don't find it there, honestly I’ve never gone beyond that part but, you can also search for Instagram famous people. Influencers are more diverse in looks because they come from everyone, so it might be a great place to find people as well.
