Mew represents a lot of ill advised first loves and I think what we will see is his journey of hurt and facing cruelty due to his inexperience in the world of romantic relationships. But well, isn't that an experience that a lot of people know too well and isn't it just another teacher to us? So yeah, I think the first half of the show might be Mew being blind in love or at least the idea of love, and the second half will be his journey to rising beyond stuff like peer pressure over losing his virginity or trying to please a guy just so he would stay. Mew has already been shown to have a fantastic backbone and his base character seems to be pretty solid. He's kind and loving, yet firm and stern where needs be. He knows his worth and I can't wait to see him return to his true self with a better understanding of the world and a sharper bullshit detector.

Whaaaaaat me managing to slip in some Kal Skirata low-key misogyny for old-time's sake into my fanfic?

Look, Traviss wrote that man into the fucking ground and has kinda ruined the character for life with the last Rep Comm book. Some hot and medium-spicy takes below.

I MAY end up cutting this, I'm kinda on the fence. Jaster makes a comment to the gathered boys about how you can sell everything up to and including your body but if you sell out your honor, you can't ever get it back. (This is in regards to his past experience with Tor Vizsa for context)

And I had Skirata make a flippant comment on how he thought it interesting Jaster would put that above selling your body and Jaster kinda calls him out saying he's not going to judge someone for selling their bodies so long as it's their choice and they have a say in the matter. And then points out they sell themselves just like sex workers do they simply sell their martial skills but they're no better than sex workers and he has no right to feel like he's superior somehow because of it.

Which I kinda want to keep because I think it kinda demonstrates Jaster's kinda pretty clear-eyed view on what they do and how he's remarked multiple times in canon about how they are selling their skills for money and don't look down on them because they do that. They comport themselves with honor and have a code of ethics but they are still mercenaries. (Also this is me projecting but I like the idea of Jaster being pro-sex worker and respecting the hustle) Maybe I am soapboxing a little bit here.

So yeah, I'm kinda waffling on this. I also have a low-key hate boner for Kal Skirata because of his pretty overt misogyny throughout the Rep Comm books. Like to the point in the last book I wanted to take a fucking shower and claw my skin off.

Which again I ask myself why am I including two characters I dislike in my fic? FUCK IF I KNOW. Maybe I'm trying to work out some of my personal issues with the characters in my own way.

Maybe I'm hoping if Jaster doesn't die, Jango doesn't lead them to disaster on Galidraan and proceed to go off the deep end, they won't turn out as bad as they did in the Rep Comm books.

"Sooner or later you'll end up looking like Dante.. you don't want that, do you?" Really? That's where you're going with this? && she laughs. Bright && joyful && true. Hardly even hearing his murmur of shaving later, or the way he watches her. Like she's something precious. Something innately genuine. Something he's familiar with && wants to keep to himself. The trust he has in her is unlike any other. && perhaps that's reason enough for him to fight past his uncertainty. A streak of shyness, a dash of mulling over the what ifs. Up until she's caught in his grasp && her lips are caught by his. A tender moment that they deserve. The kind that lingers && the warmth would've knocked her from her feet otherwise. What's more is the way her hands instinctively take to conforming soft palms along the same jaw she'd just teased. The pads of her thumbs strum against the crests of his cheeks once she's adjusted to her knees next to him on the couch. Masculine touch goes to hesitantly settle along the nape of her neck whilst the other falls upon her wrist. Both lost in the other in a moment so gentle. Oh.. how she could live in this moment for all of eternity.

I wish Silverusso fans would have written the aftermath of the Terry/Daniel fight in Stingray’s flat. It definitely would have gone differently. No friggin way Terry would have just left Daniel there, beaten and vulnerable; he would have kidnapped him, broken him mentally, and eventually made him his, like he’s wanted for 30+ years. The CK writers suck lol. Just kidding. Sort of.

Well, if silverusso shippers were writing CK, everything would be vastly different lol

Thing is, in the context of the scene and a Terry’s reaction - (what Daniel is to Terry) it makes sense.

Terry, is angry at Daniel - truly angry:

Not pissed (like the sauna scene) but truly angry - and he loses his temper in a way we haven’t seen (and different than beating Sting Ray as that was a means to an end to frame Kreese).

And why?!

Because he was meddling? A thorn in Terry’s side?

No. He likes Danny’s attitude after all (CANON).

He was angry because Daniel was willing to give up - walk away - from this thing - this game they were playing - which equates to willing to walk away from Terry.

And that is unacceptable.

That is what pisses Terry off - even the dialogue you think you can walk away?! We are way past waving the white flag (aka I won’t give you mercy)

Remember he gave Daniel the option to walk away (although that was on Terry’s terms and he knows Daniel and his stubbornness and knew he wouldn’t so it was a fake gesture really).

He could have killed Daniel but he stops himself - he wants Daniel alive to see the plan to fruition (to continue to play with him - his favourite plaything).

So he walks away. If he stays he may break his toy past repair and he doesn’t want that.

This is why the whole narrative they tried to present in season four (and then never brought up again) of Kreese being his weakness makes no sense - and I did do a more in depth write up about this for other asks (I’m pretty sure).

It is not Kreese that got him back to CK - he had no problem saying no to Kreese.

It’s Daniel.

Daniel’s name elicits the first sign of life from Terry.

And come on, thirty plus years and the first thing that pops to his mind is the nickname he gave Daniel?

Sidenote - Kreese is a master manipulator - knows what to say and what buttons to press to get the reaction he wants - to get what he wants - so why do you think he even brought up Daniel?!!

It’s Daniel’s rejection that starts the slippery slope into the old Terry - that’s what makes him shed this persona he created - like old skin - and go back to the old Terry and then an even worse version of that Terry.

It’s all traces back to Daniel. Everything.

It’s his marriage he seems intent on breaking - his kid’s he wants wrapped up in CK - it’s Daniel he wants to break - just like before.

Think too about TIG’s comments which kind of reinforces this idea.

The apology was sincere - it’s the rejection / he wants to be loved / he wants to be Daniel’s friend.

It’s Daniel that makes him lose his temper - his control - it is Daniel that causes his downfall - and if that ain’t the definition of a weakness, will I don’t what is.

I will take this moment to shamelessly promote the AU to the fight scene - kind of a darker route then I normally write
