There are reports that Kristi Noem has been banned by the Sisseton-Wahpeton tribal council from setting foot on their tribal land in northeastern South Dakota. That would be the fifth Native American tribe in the state to do so.
Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Restricts Governor Kristi Noem’s Access
In a unanimous decision, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Council has passed a resolution restricting South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem's access to their trust lands.  [ ... ] [T]he Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate has decided to stand with the tribal nations in South Dakota by restricting and banning Governor Kristi Noem's access to the Trust Lands of the Lake Traverse Reservation until Governor Noem issues a formal and public apology. The apology must acknowledge the grievance caused by her actions and statements towards the parents of tribal children, the education provided to tribal children, and the undermining of the Tribal Council's efforts to combat the drug epidemic.
Almost forgot: Reproductive freedom will probably be on the ballot in South Dakota this year.
South Dakota abortion rights groups collect enough signatures to advance ballot measure
It may be spring in South Dakota but winter is coming for Kristi Noem and her incessant efforts to kowtow to Donald Trump.

(via Kristi Noem Banned From Native American Land, For Sucking)
Star Comes Out is the president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and he was infuriated by the naked xenophobia and obvious cry for Donald Trump’s attention as his search for a vice presidential candidate ramps up. So he penned a letter to Noem informing her that starting immediately, she is persona non grata on his tribe’s land.
In his letter, Star Comes Out noted that since the Oglala Sioux Tribe is a sovereign nation, it is a protectorate of the United States, not the state of South Dakota. So if there is an “invasion” from which the Sioux need protection, it is the US government that provides it. And also, this isn’t an invasion, stop calling it that:
Thirdly, Governor Noem’s use of the term “invasion” as a justification to send S.D. National Guard troops to Texas under the Compact Clause is misplaced because:
“Only entry plus enmity constitutes an invasion. The unlawful entry of people into the United States cannot be construed as an invasion.”

Walter Einenkel at Daily Kos:
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem did her best to avoid discussing abortion rights during an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on Sunday. When asked about her state’s near-total abortion ban—which classifies abortion as a Class 6 felony unless performed to save the mother’s life—Noem deflected the question back to a discussion on states’ rights.
When Bash pushed her to answer the question, Noem offered up a word salad sandwich, with the real answer stuck right in the middle. “We rely on South Dakota, on the fact that I'm pro-life and we have a law that says that there is an exception for the life of the mother, and I just don't believe a tragedy should perpetuate another tragedy,” she said, implying that she does not support abortion in cases of rape and incest. As for the “exception for the life of the mother” Noem chirps about, lawmakers in South Dakota are trying to create an instructional video to help doctors understand what that means exactly so they don’t receive a prison sentence of up to 2 years, a fine of $4,000, or both.
Appearing on CNN's State Of The Union with Dana Bash on Sunday, South Dakota Governor and potential Veepstakes candidate Kristi Noem (R) struggled to defend her state's retrograde abortion ban that has no rape or incest protections.

Gov. Kristi Noem, a Trump lickspittle, is banned from 15% of her state of South Dakota. She is one of the contestants for the number two position on Trump's national ticket.
As South Dakota governor Kristi Noem vies for a top position in a second Trump White House, she appears to be more focused on shoring up her vice-presidential chances than on making allies at home — to the point that she is no longer welcome in around 15 percent of the state she governs. Over the past few months, Noem has made several comments about alleged drug trafficking on Native American reservation lands, infuriating a number tribes in the state. In February, the Oglala Sioux Tribe banned her from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, the fifth largest in the United States, for claiming without evidence that drug cartels were connected to murders on the reservation. The ban did not dissuade her from making more incendiary remarks. In March, Noem said at a community forum in Winner that there are “some tribal leaders that I believe are personally benefiting from cartels being there and that’s why they attack me every day.” When tribal leaders demanded an apology, Noem doubled down, issuing a statement to the tribes to “banish the cartels.” In response, the Cheyenne River Sioux forbade Noem from setting foot on their reservation, the fourth largest in the U.S. On Wednesday, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the sixth largest in the U.S., banned her as well. On Thursday, a fourth tribe, the Rosebud Sioux, followed suit.
So far, four tribes are banning Noem:
Oglala Sioux
Rosebud Sioux
Cheyenne River Sioux
Standing Rock Sioux
Alleged drug cartels on tribal lands in South Dakota are the local equivalent of millions of migrants illegally voting in 2020. Bullshit is not just a GOP specialty but a dedicated lifestyle.

Donald Trump’s shortlist for his running mate is full of the right wing’s worst political stars—aside from himself, that is. But reported vice presidential hopeful Kristi Noem has one skeleton in her closet—er, in the woods—that will not be helpful in the polls.
The South Dakota governor admits to deliberately killing her 14-month-old pet dog Cricket in her upcoming book No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, reported The Guardian, which obtained an advance copy of the book, on Friday. The book is due out next month.
“I hated that dog,” Noem writes, calling her “untrainable,” “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with,” and “less than worthless… as a hunting dog.”
After repeated failed attempts to train Cricket as a hunting dog, the straw that broke the camel’s back was when Cricket mauled a family’s chickens when Noem stopped at their house following a pheasant hunt.
Cricket had escaped Noem’s truck and attacked the family’s chickens, “grabb[ing] one chicken at a time, crunching it to death with one bite, then dropping it to attack another.”
Noem wrote that she repeatedly apologized, wrote the family a check “for the price they asked, and helped them dispose of the carcasses littering the scene of the crime.”
“It was not a pleasant job,” she writes, “but it had to be done. And after it was over, I realized another unpleasant job needed to be done.”
Noem recalls getting her gun and leading Cricket to a gravel pit before executing her.
Critics were quick to point out that the fault was not with Cricket, but with Noem herself. A 14-month-old dog is a “baby that doesn’t know any better,” Dan Lussen, a professional hunting dog trainer, told Rolling Stone.
“To me, it’s a lack of guidance by the owner, or training by the owner, or discipline by the owner,” he said, explaining that training a young hunting dog is a lengthy and slow process. “There’s a lot of steps that you take before you take it to a field and shoot birds over it.”
Noem’s record as governor of South Dakota isn’t clean, either. Several Native tribes in the state have banned her from their reservations over her racist assertions that Natives in the state work with drug cartels and neglect their children. Plus, Noem’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a high number of cases in the state, and she tried to prevent Native tribes from implementing their own COVID safety measures.
Her attitude towards canines may not put her in Trump’s VP doghouse, though. He has repeatedly called his opponents dogs as an insult, mentioned on multiple occasions about how much he doesn’t like them, and famously avoided having a pet dog as president because he said it “feels a little phony to me.”

Margery E. Beck at AP:
A new South Dakota policy to stop the use of gender pronouns by public university faculty and staff in official correspondence is also keeping Native American employees from listing their tribal affiliations in a state with a long and violent history of conflict with tribes.
Two University of South Dakota faculty members, Megan Red Shirt-Shaw and her husband, John Little, have long included their gender pronouns and tribal affiliations in their work email signature blocks. But both received written warnings from the university in March that doing so violated a policy adopted in December by the South Dakota Board of Regents. “I was told that I had 5 days to remove my tribal affiliation and pronouns,” Little said in an email to The Associated Press. “I believe the exact wording was that I had ‘5 days to correct the behavior.’ If my tribal affiliation and pronouns were not removed after the 5 days, then administrators would meet and make a decision whether I would be suspended (with or without pay) and/or immediately terminated.” The policy is billed by the board as a simple branding and communications policy. It came only months after Republican Gov. Kristi Noem sent a letter to the regents that railed against “liberal ideologies” on college campuses and called for the board to ban drag shows on campus and “remove all references to preferred pronouns in school materials,” among other things.
All nine voting members of the board were appointed by Noem, whose remarks in March accusing tribal leaders of benefitting from illegal drug cartels and not properly caring for children has prompted most South Dakota tribes to ban her from their land. South Dakota’s change comes in the midst of a conservative quest to limit diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives gaining momentum in state capitals and college governing boards around the country, with about one-third of the states taking some sort of action against it. Policies targeting gender pronoun use have focused mainly on K-12 students, although some small religious colleges have also restricted pronoun use. Houghton University in western New York fired two dorm directors last year after they refused to remove gender pronouns from their work email signatures.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) and her appointed state Board of Regents enacted a extreme prejudicial policy that is anti-freedom of speech by barring employees from using pronouns and tribal affiliations in email signatures.
This is a naked act of hate and erasure against indigenous peoples and the LGBTQ+ community in The Mount Rushmore State.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is now banned from all tribal lands in her home state | CNN Politics
When will shit people who call themselves white will learn that we are not the part of your conspiracy theories that you have used against Black and Indigenous People globally and we are sick and tired of your bullshit. You people are the problem that we constantly have to deal with.
When will you stupid people leave us alone and go back to the hell you came from, we are still dealing with the same shit that your forebears brought to us, even though we tried to treat you people like family.
You are a fucking cancer to our entire planet and you fail to reconcile with us; yet you are still causing us problems. You stupid people are pissing us off even more, no matter how we try to make things better for everyone. You people really need to take a deep dive into the history of whiteness and try to understand that you people have done nothing but caused death and destruction to all humanity.
You shit people keep blaming everyone else for the shit that you caused but yet; you continue to blame us for everything that you yourselves are doing. Trump is a good example of revealing how sick you people really are. You would ignore the worst example of what a real president in this country should be which is unlike former President Obama who displayed the way a good president should be.
You trash a man who loves his wife and country to embrace a weak lying coward who loves himself and fuck this country if he doesn't get his way. A sore weak ass loser who brought shame to what should be the outlawed, just because he is considered as being white, you play stupid.
You fucking people are immigrants and we really wished we had enough sense to deny you access on our lands, we would be better off.
