I can't say it enough. We could change so much if we just #banonetimeuseplastic and made producers responsible for their own packaging and product from production to disposal. #shopresponsibly #banplastic #canadastrong #wecansavetheplanet #savetheplanet #theplanetdoesntneedus #eclectichippie #doitforthekids https://www.instagram.com/p/B4jAFzSAXyG/?igshid=94ltshh9te63

Image by @jim_abernethy World Ocean Day // A beautiful leatherback turtle begins life at sea, faced with many world problems caused by our species that we can fix! On our planets World Ocean Day, I believe we need to reflect on the heart of our planet, our ocean, the issues facing it and lastly take action immediately to start repairing the damage we have caused. If we all make changes individually, I believe we can alter the course of our planet into a sustainable direction! Here is a partial list of the most serious issues, our oceans, our planet and all earthlings face from my perspective! OCEAN ISSUES 1. Overfishing 2. Globalwarming & Ocean Acidification 3. Plastic Pollution 4. Ocean & Land Dead Zones 5. Coral reef and ecosystem collapse 6. Toxic chemicals OCEAN SOLUTIONS 1. Vegetarian and Vegan lifestyle would help solve many of these issues as well as your health by just this one change! 2. Switching to nondestructive energies now and get off coal energy forever! 3. Ban one time use plastics worldwide & clean our oceans! 4. Ban destructive chemicals worldwide! 5. Marine Protected Areas are the key to helping our oceans recover! Support all efforts for MPA's! 6. Elect Environmental Politicians committed to fixing our planet man made issues! Will you be a part of the solution? Will you make the necessary changes for the future of our oceans, fellow earthlings and our planet? @jim_abernethy @wildlifevoiceinc @sealegacy #TurningTheTide #globalwarming #worldproblems #oceanacidification #vegan #marineprotectedzones #stopthepoison #oceandeadzones #Banonetimeuseplastics #alternativeenergy (at Palm Beach County, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/BydUD1CBMWN/?igshid=hgkd2imsbetc

**I borrowed this picture from Bambina Mio. ** It may only speak to the US but stats like this don't seem to exist for Canadians. Disposable diapers are a form of one time use plastic. According to this by using ONE cloth diaper a day you will save over 900 disposable diapers. Which makes sense. Most kids are in diapers for 3 years. Let's do some basic math. 365days/year x 3 years of diapers = 1095 diapers... that's if we only use one diaper a day. So let say we change our kid 4 times a day.... 4380 diaper/per child using 4 diapers a day (we ALL know it's more than that!).... this can be mitigated simply by 20-30 cloth diapers and a washing routine. Start by buying or borrowing a second hand set of diapers. Save your self money in the long run. I paid about $8-10 per (cheap knockoff) new diaper and about $2/secondhand diaper (most of which I still had when I passed them on), you only need 30 max (but common they are adorable so you will probably buy more than that 😂). $30×10=$300. So you can spend $300 one time (plus the cost of water and washing detergent) and prevent 4380 one-time-use-plastic diapers/per child! PER CHILD! And then you can usually use the diapers for a second child with no extra cost!! So for $300, plus the cost of washing, could possibly save over 8000 diapers or MORE from going to the garbage piles. and if we responsibly take care of the diapers at the end of their life by composting the non-plasticsized fabric our footprint is tiny. #eclectichippie #savetheworld #banonetimeuseplastic #secondhand #clothdiapers #doitforthekids #saveouroceans #keepchemicalsoffourbabies #ididitsocanyou #canadastrong https://www.instagram.com/p/B4kRV4aAwAE/?igshid=asy8j03xr4cx

Caribbean Reef Sharks up close with a Large Green Moray! Waiting for everything to be in the right place so you can take this kind of image requires lots of patience! If we continue to kill species needlessly, use one time use plastics and not address our planet issues like global warming, we won't have these creatures in the future! Let's all make a decision...Be part of the the solution or continue to be part of the Problem! What's your choice? @jim_abernethy #shark #greenmorayeel #beautiful #Bethechangetheworldneeds #epic #globalwarmingisreal #FinBanNOW #Banonetimeuseplastics #nature (at Tiger Beach)

The late Rob Stewart uses my camera as a shield to play with this curious tiger shark while at Tiger Beach with me during the film shoot of the Shark Angel film. I'm humbled, honored and so proud to have known this incredible conservationist and tremendous spokesperson for sharks! He was able to change the viewpoint of sharks in huge ways worldwide with his films, presentations and work! I'm so grateful to be able to call him a great friend and miss him dearly! @jim_abernethy #savethesharks @teamsharkwater #welovesharks #FinBanNOW #finfree #beautiful #Bethechangetheworldneeds #Banonetimeuseplastics #epic #love #bethevoice #conservation

Beautiful juvenile loggerhead turtle off Palm Beach, Florida! All turtle species numbers have been decimated worldwide from what they were just 50 years ago! Never buy animal products of anykind, ever! All marine turtle species are in very serious trouble. Let's all work really hard to fix our oceans issues while we still can. Refusing to use #onetimeuseplastics would also help out tremendously! If we all make life style changes to benefit the heart of our planet, the changes for the future will be huge! @jim_abernethy #beautiful #Bethechangetheworldneeds #Banonetimeuseplastics #epic #saveprotectedanimals #saveocean #saveturtles #marineturtle #turtle #saveplanet #naturephotography #floridanature @wildlifeVOICEinc #underwaterphotography #loggerheadturtle #turtleresearchers (at Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures & Marine Life Art Gallery)

Nature has the Best Art! An up close shot of the beautiful Black Durgeon triggerfish reveals its true colors! These gorgeous fish which blanket many reefs always catch my eye, although from a distance they appear all black! Our coral reefs are in serious trouble due to many problems that are all man made! We mush address and fix them for the future health of our planet as well as our own exhistance on earth! Let's all refuse one time use plastics and convert to alternative energies ASAP! @jim_abernethy #blackdurgeontriggerfish #epic #globalwarmingisreal #saveocean #banonetimeuseplastics #ocean (at Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures & Marine Life Art Gallery)

Baby loggerhead turtle at home in the sargassum in the Gulf Stream current, where it will spend roughly 5 years, finally being large enough that many animals won't be able to eat! Sea Turtles have a very difficult life, most of which never make it to maturity and reproduce! Our own existence here on earth as a species is responsible for the death of many beautiful creatures including the sea Turtles, due to mistakes of the past! We have the knowledge, technology and some the drive to fix this, but will we make necessary changes to put our beautiful planet into a sustainable direction? I MOST DEFINITELY WILL! Please join me as our planets future and all creatures are dependent on it! 15 years ago I rescued a tiger shark that had a plastic packing strap cutting into her body all the way around her head, in front of her pectoral fins! I saw her again at tiger beach a few weeks ago, but this past week I was able to rub her head affectionately like I had so long ago to get close enough to cut the strap! I'm so very happy to see that she survived such a horrific, brutal and devastating injury caused of my species! Our planets beautiful wildlife, of almost every species is being wiped in slow painful deaths because of our plastic addiction! We must completely end the use of one time plastics worldwide, as well as clean up our oceans, if there is any hope for our planets wildlife! Be the change that the world needs to see! @jim_abernethy #sharklove #beautiful #tigershark #saveplanetearth #bethevoice #endonetimeuseplastics #suffering #animalabuse #sharksuffering #banonetimeuseplastics #Bethechangetheworldneeds (at Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures & Marine Life Art Gallery)
