Hizashi: Nezu if you don’t let me adopt him I will scream.

I’m assuming Inko isn’t great here despite Izuku having a Quirk. Or she’s dead. Either or really, but Izuku who discovered his Quirk through insulting someone and who got told it was bad learning he’s actually a Bard. Trying to show he’s better then people think. And maybe he makes a few online friends of people who hear bard and go: so cool! One being a chill punk girl of course.

But like the sheer amount of joy Hizashi would have to teach this kid. Teaching him to sing loud and have fun. Digging out old albums to play and figuring out what causes horrible effects (Thunder is never allowed to be played again after that disaster). That bond is so damn beautiful. Just the sheer love and knowing the two share between each other would be so amazing. Knowing the other and knowing their music. Ahhhh!!!

(And Shouta being exhausted cause of the music 24/7. He finds his own little protege though and Hizashi points and laughs.)

Izuku who swallows his anger and irritation for so long he almost forgets he’s not as quirkless as his mother claims him to be. Who still remembers the force of his words making one of his teachers stumble back when he pointed out how poorly thought out their lesson plan was.

Izuku whose hands itch whenever he hears a wailing guitar solo or the pounding beat of the drums. Who was forever in trouble both for his muttering and the constant tapping. Who had pens and pencils and even his desk taken away on days he just couldn’t sit still because he could feel the music begging for a way out.

Izuku who in his research on the quirk boards finds a sub board for people with music or sound quirks and reaches out, tentatively, with trembling fingers beating a staccato on his keyboard as if afraid to let them linger lest they get burned. Who is welcomed with open arms and a words that settled around him like a warm blanket.

Bard.

Not a villain. Not useless.

He never learns the names of the people on that board (the older members and mods are incredibly aware of just how young some of the users are and refuse to let anything close to identifying information through the filters), but when he gets to UA a couple people feel like home.

Including Present Mic who smiles at him in the smoldering wreckage of the zero pointer like they’re proud of him, and opens a door to understanding his quirk that he had never thought even possible.

Shouta, exhausted by Izuku's kazooing for months: what do you mean by that?

Izuku, playing a flute:

Izuku leading cats pied piper style to Shouta as an apology. The number of cats is directly proportional to how badly Izuku fucked up.

Bard Izuku would be a vicious beast with vicious mockery. Just the WORST insults thrown and making people cry.

Aizawa takes one look and goes: free real estate kid and proceeds to adopt him. I mean, it would be considered a bad power probably given he’s insulting people right? So Aizawa and Shinsou would like him for that.

Izuku has the kind of attention to detail to know exactly what to say to make it hurt even without the quirk dealing actual damage so with the power of both of them combined he would be unstoppable.

Shouta would absolutely see a small kid (a kid with a villain’s quirk. One that people whispered came from somewhere mean and hurtful and only meant to cause damage to the purple around him) and would adopt immediately but so you know who else would fight god for Bard Zuku. Hizashi. Hizashi would see this little powerhouse who could cause incredible damage with a microphone and a tight five and would scream dibs for all of Japan to hear.

Oohhh bard Izuku, charisma being his high start would be everything. Then if he gets one for all could become a bardbarian, my fave multiclass. I also really love the idea of him singing little tunes to his friends to give bardic inspiration, or just like winking.

Tenya: I’m frozen I can’t move

Izuku: hold up I got you

Tenya: *engines already revving prepping to kick stain in the head* I hate that this worked.

I did not know about Bard Zuku and I'm already in love with them. (Also, fair warning, I haven't done DnD in years so I'm not sure how exactly bards work there so... Yeah.)

But also why was one of my first thoughts (especially after the seeing the Stain post) just... Izuku during the Sports Festival looking Shouto dead in the eyes and going "I could make Endeavor fall down the stairs and no one but Nezu would know." completely seriously?

(I’ve never played a bard personally (shocking tbh it’s very me energy) and it has to translates it a non dice based mechanic so it’s not exactly the same it’s mostly just vibes)

Izuku, scowling up at Endeavor: Your facial hair is cringe

Endeavor: *stumbles back like he took a hit to the chest*

Shouto: I would fight god for you.

THE BARD TROPE BUT ITS JUST IZUKU TRYING TO MAKE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE THEY SEE

You know how barbarians can deal extra damage if they use an improvised weapon? Barbarian shoto just keeps finding huge icicles and flaming torches.

Shoto: I took the improvised weapons feat

Shouta: for the last time smacking your classmates with whatever is at hand during training doesn’t count as ‘taking a feat’

Hizashi: I mean technically it kinda does.

Izuku nodding at shigi’s hands: that’s why your momma dead. Dead as hell. What shoes she got on? What shoes she had on in her casket? Or should I say urn.

Shigi: your mom doesn’t love you

Izuku: Yours did. Look where that got her.

I say Hitoshi if only cause then we have a second coming of EraserMic that isn’t ShinKami. Because Hitoshi big time can sing with his voice and who stares after the sunshine boy with big eyes and who carefully interrogated Shouta about his own wooing of Mic.

(Hitoshi declared the man useless when Shouta admitted he has no idea HOW he landed Mic but he’s rolled with it since.)

Hitoshi who braved Kyoya to ask for music references and who cautiously approached Shouto who ‘just so happened’ to be creating ice weapons that could withstand being on fire. You know, just in case.

Hitoshi who saw this boy sing and gained a crush. Hitoshi who saw as Inko flipped out over Izuku being taken from her due to neglect charges and who screamed at her son as she was dragged away from the school.

(Who remembered his mother taking him away from his screaming father.)

And we can add Yuuga to the mix to. Yuuga who sees Ozuku’s bravery and Hitoshi’s drive. Who watched as they come together and work together. Izuku who confesses every bruise he’s gained from his ‘diagnosis’ forced upon him by his mother. Yuuga whose stomach churns and aches.

Yuuga who before the summer camp goes to his teacher to confess. Who learns how to sing and dance so he can woo the two boys he’s fallen for, his sins coming from his lips.

Hitoshi who, after the sports festival — after seeing another kid from the bottom, another villainous quirk step up to the plate and dare them to knock him down — finds himself drawn further and further into Izuku’s orbit both because he can’t bring himself to pull away from the sunshine boy with laughter in his songs and a tongue just as deadly as his own and because Izuku is just Like That.

Who unearthed that buried part of himself that used to sing as well, so Izuku knew how he made everyone around him feel. So Izuku knew how he made Hitoshi feel.

Yuuga who sings for both of them, who lays each and every fault bare at their feet — another boy from the bottom, another boy left behind and twisted into something he wasn’t by cruel hands — and is pulled up to meet them both.

The three of them all shattered and scarred in their own ways finding a piece in each other. A symphony of broken instruments that’s learned to play themselves.

BARD ZUKU WHO IS SCARED TO BE MAD OR ARGUE WITH SOMEONE BECUASE HE KNOWS THE DAMAGE HE CAN CAUSE. WHO BITES HIS TONGUE AND LETS PEOPLE USE HIM AS A DOORMAT BECAUSE ITS BETTER THAN BEING SEEN AS A VILLAIN. WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF THE STING OF WORDS HE CANT SAY AND WANTS NOTHING MORE THAN TO BE ABLE TO.

SHOUTA WHO GIVES IZUKU THE ABILITY TO BE ANGRY. WHO ERASES HIS QUIRK AND LETS HIM UNLOAD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE. WHO GIVES HIM THE SAFETY OF BEING ABLE TO VENT WITHOUT CAUSING HARM LIKE HE HAS BEVER HAD IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE. THE MOST SIMPLE OF CATHARSIS DENIED OUT FO FEAR OF HURTING SOMEONE.

Izuku uses Kazoos for a week straight during lessons to annoy Aizawa to no end. Doesn’t help Hizashi is finding all the songs they can covered by Kazoos to play on the radio. And in the car. And in the house.

Nezu: *plays one over the intercom*

Shouta: *screams ferally*

Shouta: *fully losing his mind*

Izuku: 🎵 It’s a mental breakdown *off key kazoo*🎶

AXE GUTAIR IZUKU IS BEST IZUKU. Just AHHHH!! Him using it and fighting off people while singing like… Thunderstruck or something, making people scream and the chaos.

Hizashi is so proud. (If Izuku ever does music on the side Hizashi has ever record they can get.)

And Shouto would sell his soul to Izuku after the many insults towards Endeavour that have the man taking a three week break, coincidentally misisng out on internship week. That’s his Bard friend now.

… also I now have the image of Shouto deciding to go D&D with his theme and choosing either Wizard or Barbarian. Just want to toss out the image of him in robes throwing ice and fire or him in a barbarian outfit with an ice weapon.

(I’m still squealing sorry. I love this so much.)

If we meld more bard spells in with like “music as a focus to do magic not entirely related to Bards” which is what I’m feeling for this Izuku would be such a force of nature on the field. Both because he would definitely train with the axe guitar until he is proficient in every way which includes us wing it like a damn club and because he can SUMMON FORCES OF NATURE DEPENDING ON THE SONG. 12/10 chaos demon perfection.

(Him and Kaminari could probably do a devastating team attack by feeding off of each other’s electricity. Honestly he could combo with a lot of the 1-A kids and cause a lot of chaos. Hmmmm many thoughts)

Hizashi is Izuku’s number one fan and not only gets all of his music should he ever release it but also every scrap of merch they can get their hands on once their baby is finally famous and a hero in their own right. Not to mention Izuku probably has at least a segment on PYHU starting from internships.

Okay how heavy into the DnD lore would you go for Bard Zuku? because I have thought a lot about this. So if he can do the spells that bards can do, I am headcanoning that when his quirk came in he cast Friend on Bakugou a lot because When the spell ends, the creature realizes that you used magic to influence its mood and becomes hostile toward you. A creature prone to violence might attack you." I feel like that would really work with Bakugou still bullying Izuku even with a quirk. And I mean add all the quirkiest bullshit about it being either villainous or too weak because it can often be used as a" support" quirk.

Wait that would be perfect.

Little Izuku who is confused and scared and casts “Charm Person” instinctually to get people to look at him with something even close to kindness. Who is followed by hisses of villain and useless when it wears off and they know he was responsible. Who even when he is older and in more control of his quirk has to be careful of every word and hum so he doesn’t accidentally cast. Who is told he’s too weak or too villainous to be a hero but decides to try anyway.
