Triangular family
Participants: Yung Cuz - Nuclear Throne. Video Game God. Don't look at him like that, Y.V couldn't leave his cousin alone, even though he's not a triangle. Friendly to everyone, was afraid of Illum due to his huge size, but with the belt they became friends and started playing consoles.
Yung Venuz - Gun Godz / Nuclear Throne. Rapper god and god of money and guns. Considers himself the founder of the family since everyone lives in his mansion. The calmest of all, owns all the money in the world. Doesn't like Bill and Barr's nagging.
GodHead - The Binding of Isaac Rebirth. God of Essence. Really misses Isaac, who died. Gets a couple hands from Bill. Loves everyone.
Bill Cipher - Gravity Falls. An inter-universal demon who was resurrected in the world of Nuclear Throne (since everyone does it).
Illuminati - from the one US dollar bill and memes of the early 2010s. God of memes. Bill's father. He added his arms and legs because everyone has them (except GD who has no legs). Mocks Barr's threats as he is the most powerful in the universe.
Barracuda - just shapes and bits. Third boss jsab. It may seem that he is huge, but in fact only the top of the pyramid is his body, the rest of it is a controlled device for attack. Doesn't like everyone, appreciates GD for his openness.
Triangolo - from the dancing triangle video. Who the hell is he? He just is and that's all he can do, and he can also dance.
You can suggest more triangular shaped characters in the comments, I'll consider everyone!

It takes privilege to protest at Columbia.
The 114 anti-Israel protesters who were busted at Columbia on Thursday include members of the upper crust: an intern for New York State Attorney General Letitia James — and the daughter of a prominent UPS executive who killed an elderly couple with her truck as a teenager and got off with a slap on the wrist.
A Post deep-dive into the backgrounds of the protesters shows many list multimillion-dollar mansions as their home addresses, according to sources, and come from wealthy and powerful families.
5The 114 anti-Israel protesters who were busted at Columbia on Thursday include an intern for New York state AG Letitia James — and the daughter of a prominent UPS executive who killed an elderly couple with her truck as a teenager.
In 2020, at the age of 16, Isabel veered her Toyota Tacoma pickup truck across a double yellow line on US Route 7 in Charlotte, Vermont, killing Chet and Connie Hawkins, a married couple in their 70s, according to a report by the Barre Montpelier Times Argus.
She pleaded no contest to a civil traffic ticket for “driving on roadways laned for traffic” and was issued a $220 fine — which her mother paid, according to the Rutland Herald.
Many are students at Barnard College, Columbia University’s liberal arts sister school.
Others are career activists with multiple arrests under their belts.
Minnesota congresswoman and “Squad” member Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, a Barnard student with a long history of civil disobedience, was among those cited for trespassing and taken into custody.
She was released a few hours later and declined to speak to The Post.
Also cuffed and removed from the Columbia campus was Isabel Jennifer Seward, daughter of high-ranking UPS executive William J. Seward.

my favorite source of character inspiration is mario or mario spin-off music tbh. not for any reason in particular but i do have a list:
Mario (+ spin-off) music fucks for absolutely no reason
It's something I'm really passionate about and interested in, love the Mario franchise
It's always fun!! Mario music is a blast and also can be so beautiful (hello super mario galaxy how r u), I get my most fun characters from it
I get to show my friends music from a franchise that I really really really enjoy!!! Which makes me go eeeeee
So far I have:
My villain based on the World Bowser theme and A Boss Approaches from SM3D2, both of which use Bowser's 3D World leitmotif. Sparkly jacket, top hat, blue hair, pink eyes, bad attitude, could crush you beneath her 6-inch heels.
My toy soldier based on Heavy Metal Mecha Bowser from Super Mario Galaxy 1! Silly little guy who takes their job very seriously but is also literally like halfling or gnome sized, i forget which. whichever is shorter. Wind-up toy. In D&D terms they're a warforged battle master fighter.
A tiefling based off of Bowser's Castle from MK8/DX!! Big tiddy goth gf with an affinity for hand-to-hand combat. I haven't done much with her yet because I wanna change some things but she is chaos incarnate!!
A character who ISN'T based on Shifty Boo Mansion from SM3DW but might as well be, my beloved phantom rogue, Virmaris Londrathra!! Idk it gave me the vibe of dancing in an empty room, doing barre and floor exercises, and when you glance in the mirror you can sometimes see their late husband.
I wanna make a character with Grumble Volcano (MKWii + MK8/DX) vibes but honestly I kinda need to get over how hard it fucks like
youtube
This shit goes HARD but in a v unique way
Anyway that's it just wanted to talk about Mario music and characters and why the combination makes me happy
Edit: This is now also a Wonder final battle appreciation post how could I forget it omg
youtube
This is another one I really want to make a character for because Nintendo fucking went OFF (I personally prefer phase one WITH chants but y'know what here you go anyway)

Hi I hope Im not too annoying bt I have two questions:
In Paz Lives AU would the kids have their own rooms or would they share them (if so, who with whom)? We already know the favorite colors of older children, and what are the favorite colors of Ada and Gunner that would prevail in their spaces?
What would Quaritch put in their rooms in Cabin/Blood Brothers (idk what to call it) AU if he kidnapped them (I mean something like Spider's easel and skateboard, Hunter's books)
Thank you in advance for your answer!
Not annoying at all! I like getting into the little detail too! It’s why Cabin is like 300 pages long and counting.
So first off no the kids wouldn’t share a room in the Paz lives Au. I ended up making the Quaritch-Socorro family home in the sims and it’s kinda a mansion. Not like an obnoxious one. I just made what I described in my writing ( both published and unpublished) and it’s a just a pretty big place. I’ve mentioned on other post that Quaritch is straight up a millionaire from decades of saving before him and Paz got together (can’t remember if I made a post where I broke down numbers or if I just did that in my head but I googled how much someone in Quaritch’s military position would make and the high end was $200,000 a year. Before he married Paz he basically lived like someone making 1/8 of that, so would have been able to save enough to be a millionaire in like 6 years). The house was built with the intent of having at least one other kid, and having guest rooms for their squad mates so yeah they’ve got plenty of space.
Ada in my mind is a totally unapologetic girly girl, and loves pink. She likes to dance and makes art like her brother, so I imagine Quaritch mounted a small ballet barre onto the wall, and loaded up her desk with plenty of craft supplies.
Gunner is kinda a jock. He loves to play soccer (note, I’m American so when I say soccer I’m talking about what everyone else rightfully calls football) so his room as posters from his favorite team, his soccer ball, knee pads, and books on technique so he can improve without a coach. His favorite color is orange but not a bright shade of it, more of a cozy burnt orange color.
Thank you for the questions! 💞

Reaching Out, Sunlit by wearwind on ao3 (reread)
DIGITAL FAGGOT SUICIDE HEAVEN by Jay Dragon
very goopy! which i think recommends it. but also don't read this if you want to have a good time, this is will not be likely to put you in a good mood but it WILL make your brain buzz
"Gender" by E.J. Clery and "Sociability" by Gillian Russell in The Cambridge Companion to Jane Austen, 2nd edition, edited by Edward Copeland and Juliet McMaster
lots of fics for my attempt at reading all friends at the table fic on ao3:
Mira and Pattern Magic by spamyoucantswim turn away kick out the red sand by LuckyDiceKirby all things turn to rust by and by by LuckyDiceKirby Friends Adjacent to a Table by thickestgoosenog A Righteous Man by LuckyDiceKirby 7 Weight-Lifting Poems That Will Get Your Pumped by wannabequeen Mako Climbs the Tower by Animenite97 in nature and art by Yellow Memories Valid and False: In Remembrance of the Last Apokine by NeitherNora The Long Con by Mansion Bird's Eye View by hieromagus Like a Ruptured Vessel by corvidcall

The Gentleman's Daughter by Amanda Vickery
Frequency, (Ch. 4) by cryptocism on ao3

Year-end roundup of books I read in 2023:
In order by date read:
Lost Canyon by Nina Revoyr: The first book I completed in the year, which didn't happen until August. It is the fourth book I have read from this author and it was a comfortable way to try to get myself back into a reading habit. The story was a combination of her normal "characters living their lives in LA" (or in this case, LA and the Sierra Nevada) combined with a "bad things happening in the wilderness" story that I might find e.g. in a Nevada Barr mystery.
The Book of Goose by Yiyun Li: A story of two girls, their friendship, and telling stories. I vaguely remember enjoying the book but very little else about it.
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir: This had been on my to-read list for a few years now and I finally got around to it. It took a while—nearly 100 pages—to really get going, but I was pretty well hooked once Gideon started interacting with more characters within the haunted mansion puzzle box setting. The treatment of necromancy and its role in the book universe is quite fun, as is the irreverent voice. Didn't realize how big this series was on Tumblr (despite first seeing it here) but I have little inclination to seek out the fandom.
Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia: Read this while waiting for a library hold on Mexican Gothic. Can't recall much about the plot other than "vampires in Mexico City" but the alternate-universe setting was fun. Would read other stories in the same setting.
Off the Edge: Flat Earthers, Conspiracy Culture, and Why People Will Believe Anything by Kelly Weill: I believe I came across this author while reading articles about conspiracy theorists and trying to keep my blood pressure from rising. Not sure that understanding the background more makes me feel any better as we go into an election year.
Dirt Creek by Hayley Scrivenor: Checked this one out because it won a Lambda Literary Award in mystery genre. Another book featuring two girls and their friendship plus the small-town community around them. Again I enjoyed it, but I think both this book and The Book of Goose didn't end up making as much of an impression on me due to the flashier things I read around them.
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia: Felt like reading something in the horror vein and this fit. Liked how historical colonialism was incorporated into the story. First saw this referenced in a Twitter post by midnight_pals:
Tumblr media
(I also did not realize that this was apparently somewhat popular on BookTok, which is a whole other thing I'm not interested in getting into.)
Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir – The most Tumblr-y book I have ever read. (I had to stop for a moment to recover after certain meme references.) Enjoyed the fractured perspective and constantly trying to figure out what was going on.
Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir – One of those series where I might like the sequels more than the original. Was a bit skeptical going in but found that seeing things through Nona's eyes was pretty refreshing after the previous book (particularly her view of the characters she lives with), and liked getting more background on the universe. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Haunted States of America: New Hampshire
Tumblr media
Norm Gauthier's Guide to New Hampshire 'Haunted' Placed You Can Visit! (1988) by Norm Gauthier
Norm Gauthier was a ghost hunter and parapsychologist with the New Hampshire Institute for Paranormal Research, based in Manchester, New Hampshire. In the introduction, Gauthier implores people to keep an open mind about ghosts and hauntings:
Whether it's a Fort in upper New York State, an office building in Cleveland, Ohio, a fifty-seven-room mansion in a suburb of Wilkes-Barre, PA., or a small cape in a New Hampshire village I'm never out to prove or disprove the fact that the building is haunted.... As you read this book you will find it "low-key" and, perhaps, even a little non-exciting! But I've specifically written it that way because I am not out to make any converts regarding spirits or ghosts. If you believe that's fine and if you don't, I have no quarrel with you. I want you to be comfortable with what you read and draw your own conclusions.
With each location, Gauthier provides directions and a section to record the date visited, people interviewed, and any personal experiences, whether ghostly or not.
The Browne Popular Culture Library (BPCL), founded in 1969, is the most comprehensive archive of its kind in the United States.  Our focus and mission is to acquire and preserve research materials on American Popular Culture (post 1876) for curricular and research use. Visit our website at https://www.bgsu.edu/library/pcl.html.
Transcript of the cover below the title:
Stay overnight at a haunted bed & breakfast that was built in 1783...
Enjoy a strawberry festival at an historical society building...
Have a delicious lunch at a restaurant that dates back to 1741...
Spend a night at a monastery that was once a home owned by a U.S. Senator...
See a current movie at a theater that has a trap door, in stage floor, for magicians' use...
Eat in a jail cell of an old police station that is now a restaurant...
Visit a haunted lake...and more!
And all of them "Haunted!"
