not the same anon but i really wanna see something that explores freddy being not so ideal, y'know? like, he's a wonderful person, sure, but characters that are perfect are characters that are boring.
like??????? the throwing himself of a building ending???? after torching it??? in front of his kid????
i mean, if we look at it from a in character viewpoint, and try to factor in the relationship with his friends, then the arson ending is thus:
' i glitch onstage and mess up, badly -> a child finds me and i become his guardian -> my friends turn on the child, who in turn dismembers them and gives me their body parts as upgrades -> during all of this, a murderous entity is trying to kill the child, and was responsible for causing my friends to turn on the child -> with my new upgrades, i am able to see who this murdereous entity really is ->
i then torch the building, with my friends still inside it, who i know are still in there and unable to escape because they have been horrifically injured, and then throw myself off the roof to destroy the entity, killing myself in the process, in what is basically a murder-suicide, in front of the child who has been relying on me for the past 6 hours for strength and guidance. yeah.
this all sounds insane and paints freddy in a bad light, but i think it's a depiction of freddy at his mentally... lowest? like, the only way i can rationalise that ending to myself, is that throughout the course of the game, freddy has decided that he is expendable.
like, his whole world has been shaken and broken down. a virus can just show up and take control of him and his friends, and there's nothing he can do about it. when this is all over, everyone can just be replaced, and none of the kids will bat an eye.
i think gregory gave him a chance to be a more fully fledged person, y'know? and depending on how the game progresses, freddy either sacrifices this personhood (fire ending) or is allowed to keep it (car ending, good vanny ending, burntrap ending)
my thoughts are messy and perhaps not well explained but the tldr is that gregory gives freddy a chance to be someone, and depending on the circumstances he will react in certain ways. he always wants to protect gregory, though.
Yeah, this is what I'm getting at when I say Freddy isn't like perfect. At worst he is the fire ending or the disassemble Vanny ending. Ending's where he's unnecessarily self-sacrificing like he easily could've taken out at least a few of the staff bots or just like grabbed Vanny??? Pushed her only??? He means well but he really is all or nothing which isn't great.
And even in the good endings, he leaves his friends behind which I blame more on the devs needing endings and less on him not caring, but still, he just leaves them after showing a lot of concern. At the very least, Glam Freddy has really bad hind and foresight.
