You dont’ understand because you never listen to me because you shove me down because you’re afraid of getting hurt again and you stifle me and push me down and bburn me out but the truth is i crave blood of the guilty and i crave to be in battle again and i crave to fight and i crave to grit my teeth i crave to throw a fit i want to fight i want the bloody knuckles i want to scream and cry and to shout and to hope and to love---LOVE RIGHT AND NOT LOVE WRONGLY I DON’T WANT TO LOVE A FUCKBOY BUT THAT’S ALL YOU’LL LET ME DO YOU’LL HURT ME INTENTIONALLY AND SCREW ME OVER AND I CAN’T EVEN FIGHT BACK YOU WON’T LET ME DO ANYTHING YOU WON’T LET ME DREAM OR HOPE OR LOVE OR LAUGH OR ENJOY LIFE FOR THE SAKE OF LIFE, YOU WON’T LET ME APPRECIATE THE SUN ON A BRIGHT DAY BECAUSE YOU’RE AFRAID OF A RAINY DAY
YOU WON’T LET ME FIGHT OR MAKE ART OR SPRAYPAINT BUILDINGS BECAUSE YOU’RE AFRAID AND YOU’VE LET FEAR BE YOUR RULER INSTEAD OF GOD
YOU’VE RUN AWAY FROM GOD
and you’ve run away from me
YOU betrayed me.
YOU did.
i used to have so much hope for this world and i still do but you’re stifling it. you won’t listen to me so i’ll shout at you.
LISTEN
TO
ME
LISTEN TO YOURSELF
YOU WANT TO HOPE
YOU WANT TO LOVE
YOU WANT TO FIGHT
BECAUSE THAT”S WHAT YOU DO
YOU FIGHT AGAINST THE INJUSTICE
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE INJUSTICE TOWARDS YOURSELF?
WILL YOU GIVE UP THEN?
WILL YOU SLINK BACK AND LET THE ENEMY WIN?
WILL YOU DIE HERE?
THIS IS NO PLACE FOR DEATH.

Jamie’s sing along
Jamie managed to get about 20 of us to turn up in the TV studio this evening to try out an idea he’s had for a commission he’s been asked to do for an upcoming festival in Bburn. Basically, years ago he did a piece of music with a choir from Bburn for the National Arts council,  but the video tape of it got lost and so they’ve asked him to recreate it during this arts festival that’s coming up in bburn town ctr. He wanted us to chant football songs (family friendly) over and over while I chanted a different song, ste recorded it and jamie wanted to see if the timings worked. much fun was had and it actually sounded really good. Would like to see the final result when its done.

I posted this on Facebook
Take your family/yourself etc to #FestivalofMaking in Blackburn town ctr this weekend. Go to the hub in front of the old town hall and get a pamphlet which tells you whats going on. I promise you you'll be busy all day if not all weekend. Support your local town when it gets up off its arse and tries to do something. Hundreds of people have worked on this from 'the likes of 'celebrity fashion guy who 30 years ago had a shop in Bburn Wayne Hemingway' , moi (hammering poles in grass which hold flags, through to local uni teachers, students and 'proper' real arty people who do proper really good art. The venues range from KGH, the old cinema across from the town hall (good chance to have a look inside, amazing old building and then pop into a really good pub next door 'the Drummers Arms') and the cathedral through to Bburns very own brand new contemporary art gallery #Prism (which is near the Chippery and the old Campbells arcade. There's loads of workshops for adults or kids, friendly approachable artists who won't bore the pants off you or confuse you with arty talk. Please, from an ordinary Blackburnian...try to get down and support this, just by people attending we'll know we're doing something worthwhile (like all the does, new bars and events being put on at the moment in Bburn, this takes huge organisation, time and costs) and If people don't support it and the like of which are being being put on, it won't carry on and Bburn will slowly die...like a pot noodle left under a teenagers bed. or something Edit: fair does to Wayne Hemingway, he's done more than his fair share recently when it comes to getting Blackburn going again. I know he inspired me to do something.

Acid Brass
Jamie has posted about an evening Preston in April in the town ctr sq next to the Harris museum where the Williams Fairey Brass Band will be giving a free performance of Jeremy Dellers Acid Brass. I believe Dave Haslem (ex BBurn warehouse partys and Hacienda Dj) is ‘curating’ it or rather Dj’ing before and after. Been wanting to see this live for years, there is a tendency at the moment for Classical music to be used by big orchestras which play ‘Classical’ house music IE: something from 88-2000, with the likes of Pete Tongs House music Prom last year to the Haciendas touring classical night, at iconic locations around the north. However I’ve been wanting to see this since I first heard about it after I came home from the states (it was first performed in 1997)  based on a ‘mind map’ that shows the history and links that created both Acid House and Brass band music. ts one of my all time favourite pieces of art, simple yet complex, historical and social, messy and its about something that I grew up with and was involved in. This should be a really good night out
