Life has an interesting way of pushing us into our next chapter. I'm learning to embrace everything that forms that "push" because without it I probably would never move. So here's to pain and healing. Being scared and doing it anyway. Being uncomfortable but never stopping. Being vulnerable but using wisdom, making mistakes and walking like I've learned my lesson. Sleepless nights but RESTFUL ones too, especially after crying over a bowl of butter pecan ice cream lol. It's all worth it for a better ME! 🥂💪🏾🙏🏾👌🏾

Permission to Pose...Statement of Inclusivity and General Business

Hello and Welcome, I hope with this post to hit two birds with one stone. Simply put: I have some business I’d like to get out of the way. Action item 1: this blog is meant for those 18 and up. Good Morning 🌞 Do you like spicy food? I happen to love strong spices. Could be because I smoked for so long, but I love spicy! I like to spice up my life sometimes too. And lately, I must admit that my life has been very vanilla. But I have been rather withdrawn, and my friends who generally drag me out a few times a year haven't been able to with all the stay at home orders. And now that some things are reopened, I still feel withdrawn. Plus, considering what I do, I don't like the thought of unnecessary exposure. I won't survive even one more month of being shutdown 😢 I spice up my life now through books and some new friends I've made whose lives are WAY MORE interesting than mine. Fic: I Hear A Symphony

Road months were rough.

Dethklok tours were ambitious, exhausting, global. The band flitted between timezones at an incomprehensible clip. Anchored in L.A., and with Charles’s meticulously plotted travel schedule synced to her work computer, it should have been easy for Abigail to track the time difference. She was smart, organized, had a vague sense on how time was meant to progress (forward). But most days she woke up thinking only of the mountain of work ahead of her. Most days she arrived at the studio well before sunrise and left well after sunset. Most days her phone glowed with missed calls and messages. Most days she was tired.  

Most days she ended with her knees curled to her chest, phone propped on the pillow opposite her, speaker on.

“Hi Abbys.” She still thrilled at the nickname. “We just landeds in Madison. Pickle gots a lots of opinions abouts foosball dat I don’ts understainds—“

In the background:  “BRETT FARVE’S A FUCKIN’ LEGEND—“ a shatter of glass, then, “NO ONE IS ARGUING FAVRE’S RECORD, BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE STATS—“

“I miss you,” he murmured, and Abigail could feel his lips against the speaker, imagined them against her neck. “I wish you was—“ and then the line cut out.

“Abbyyyyyyy beayoutifuls Abby.” The next message said. He was drunk. “We wents to da beach and I founds a rock dat de same color of your eyes ands—“

“—Ands he cried!” Toki’s bright voice swallowed the speaker. Skwisgaar flustered in the background, a flourish of language Abigail didn’t understand, Toki’s burst of just tell her and then a ripple of monotonous sound as if the phone had been plunged underwater.

“No’tings else,” Skwisgaar’s voice was distant, Toki’s protest loud. “Goodnights.”

The line cut out.

“AbbyAbbyAbbyyyyyy.” The next message said. “I wrotes a song abouts you.”

Her heart seized in her chest.

“It don’t gots no words, dat’s Nathan’s department. But sometimes, hueughhuegh, don’ts laugh at me, sometimes I t’inks about you and hears? Musicks? Ha ha sometimes I looks at you and hears a symphonies? Shit! Dis doesn’t makes sense. De only t’ings I ever loved ams musicks ands being arounds you makes me feel de same ways. Fuck!” A gentle grumble of encouragement, the shift of skin against fabric, the sweet, lyric press of his native tongue. “”Abigail! Abigail it’s me, Skwisgaar, ands I t’inks—“

The line cut out. Abigail’s heart sank.

A knock against the door.

She rose, closed her robe around herself. Swiped at the bottoms of her eyes. Licked her lips. Opened the door.

And there he was.

“De show in Dallas got cancelled,” he said, jostling a bouquet of roses, “de stadium exploded.”

Abigail did not question it.

He met her eyes and melted. “I wrotes a song for yous,” he murmured, and was crushed beneath her affection.

Later, curled against her, ignoring calls from their manager, she would ask him to play it. And he would, pressing chords against her ribs, pressing kisses into her neck, and Abigail would know he was worth the time.
