HI.. so um renpy things I had to learn and got angry over because I'm stupid and renpy is kind of poorly documented and outdated

MUSIC:

when adding your files into audio, DON'T add .mp3 at the end of the title of the songs themselves, some renpy vids are outdated and tell you to do this but do NOT because it'll be like me staring at my computer screen like why isnt it reading my song because to do music you want to type

ex: my song name is birthday

play music "audio/birthday.mp3"

IF YOU NAME THE FILE .MP3 IT'LL READ IT AS MP3 TWICE AND MAKE YOU INCREDIBLY ANGRY AND WONT PLAY❤

with music you'll want to just use this or stop music after each scene you want a track switch, Do NOT LET YOUTUBERS LIE TO YOU AND TELL YOU A 50 STEP PLAN. I watched like 40 fucking videos of them telling me to do all this unnecessary shit and it's like it's okay just

I forgot if the numbers should be in brackets next to fadeout or fade in but literally just type stop music to stop it some tutorials will be like You have to open the sound channel. this is not true 😭

IMAGES

I reccomend this image resizer I know you're probably not using pixilart for sprites like I am so I have to resize EVERY single sprite but this is extremely useful for bulk image resizing especially if they're all sprites of one character you have to fit to 1080 x 960 screen dimensions

for changing rooms or scenes quickly just type scene (image name for background) , and use 'with fade' for it to be smooth and cute kind of like the tboma demo

in preferences you can turn text speed down by choice to make type writer text, you DON'T have to code that yourself I had to learn this the hard way 😧

to change the font of your game just add a folder to game and download a font and plop it in there, once again DON'T name the file ___.ttf 😭 only type ttf (if it's a true text font) in the gui (or options I dont remember) where it asks for the font or else the same thing with the music will happen it'll read like .ttf.ttf and not run💀

you can make extra folders inside images and audio but I highly reccomend you dont despite what.. youtubers say.. because it'll mean you have to type "play music "audio/songs/birthday.mp3" and it can leave way more room for getting confused ☹ like a freak all my images (other than gui) are in the same images folder so i just have to scroll for their names

with images I dont reccomended naming them with the bg tag, mine are just like fnaf1 kitchen , jeffs main room, fazfright hallway etc. and named by area because bg for EVERY single background can get annoying

you can shake the screen for a moment with "vpunch" (vertical) or "hpunch" (horizontal) as many times as you want and wherever, useful for violent scenes or shock or rumble whatever

animating is very difficult in renpy but an easy way to mock it is showing an image, typing 'with Pause(4)' (or any number) and then doing that for every frame and adding no fade, it's a little messy and mock but I'm using it and it still looks pretty fucking cool for an ominous sequence especially if you start with a fade in, I use this one for william suiting up and you get to see him put on each part of the costume and I use it for characters staring at eachother angrily as well as all the time in the itp dlc because the creature isnt speaking, this loose frame by frame animation helps a lot for cutscenes where a subject is just moving slightly and you dont have to do it in dialogue like "..."

YOU CAN TRY TO USE RENPYS REALLY AWFUL "VIDEO" SUPPORT FOR CUTSCENES BUT ITS REALLY FUCKING BAD 0/10

just pull this up for a choice menu

this is one of the only well documented renpy things but just reading it simply like this is rlly helpful rather than a whole confusing renpy article

also when adding sprites (at left) (at right) or (at center) you don't HAVE to retype the at position every time you change their expression but I typically do just in case

Many of the screenshots are tagged by "build date".

The date of each era is not indicative of when the assets were designed or the actual year of each build, but rather a year I feel has had the most major design changes that represents each major "look" of the game. Because the reality is that there has never been a point that only one "era" of sprites was used, some screenshots in between dates will be tagged with multiple builds

Here is an example of the design "eras"

As you can see there are notable differences in the sprites in each era.

#2014 Build, #2014 Designs: This is content from the very first versions of the game. These tags contains old artwork and outdated designs. Tread with caution!

#KS Build, #2018 Designs: This is content that you're probably most familiar with! These are designs and content from the old 2018 seven episode demo of the game!

#2022 Build, #2022 Designs: These tags contain some of the most recent content of the game. Most current screenshots will be in this tag as well as most of the current artwork.
