Something kind of liberating about knowing I'll probably never be an illustrator, at least not the kind I've been trying to be for the last decade or so. How she got there: She was originally a human girl who was working two jobs one at the nearby elementary school as a guidance councilor and the other at a professional haunted house that was just outside of town trying to pay for rent and the usual stuff before she got turned. She was on her last run before the haunt closed that night in the haunted castle scene dressed up as a vampire; when she encountered Oskar and his friends (including Buck, Batoria, Asha and Ravena) and at first she wanted to go easy on them but she heard their reaction from the previous room and knowing that the previous room wouldn't go easy on anyone she figured that they could take it. So after successfully giving them a decent surprise they decide to talk for a while afterwards about scaring people and her giving them advice on it (because they asked for advice) and she ended up walking them back into town. However they didn't make it back into town without incident, While she was walking them back into town they were crossing the street to actually walk on a sidewalk when Polidori comes carreening down the road in his van to which he had gotten wooden stakes attached to the front, Buck had stopped in the middle of the road to tie one of his boots and she noticed the van heading straight for him and jumped into its path to push him out of the way, saving him from getting spiked but getting hit by the van herself luckily not getting herself spiked in the process. She nearly died on impact, got knocked onto the side of the road a few feet forward and was dying from the impact hitting her torso, fortunately the kids were able to get her into the trees before either polidori stopped and got out to see what he hit or she died. They noticed that the accident knocked out her false fangs and while they were stunned that a human had risked her life to save one of them they decided that they had to save her, problem was the only way they could think of was to turn her into one of them. So they all start arguing about who should turn her and Buck tells the other that he will because its his fault that she ended up in this situation. Buck awkwardly bites her wrist and luckily for them its a full moon so she turns pretty quickly but she remains unconscious. After seeing her turn Leechy and Oskar remind the group that they should get going and they should probably tell the count about what happened so as a group they fly her back to the castle. After they get the attention of their teachers, explain the situation and Buck owns up to what he did excusing himself with "She didn't hesitate to save me and almost got herself killed, I HAD to save her", They got her set up in the room of the castle that was designated to be the nurses office and allowed her new vampire genetics to heal her and drag her away from deaths doorstep. Eventually she came back to consciousness two nights later she still felt and acted like herself and was worried that she had passed out with her makeup on, she called out despite her voice being scratchy and drew the attention of the count who explained what happened to her. She took it way better than he expected, she was actually kind of excited and eventually explained that she may as well have been a vampire for the last twenty years anyway because of actual allergies to garlic and sensitive skin causing her to burn very badly if shes outside for longer than half an hour. Since she had been gone for two days the town declared her missing she decided may as well play dead and stay with her new friends until they stopped looking for her. She eventually took the position of guidance counselor and nurse at the school.

Her experience with professor Polidori:

She does not think very highly of him especially not his driving skills. But besides that she doesn't interact with him very much aside from firing the occasional water balloon of dragon piss through his bedroom window when he wakes up at the butt-crack of dawn, usually hitting him right in the nose. She may or may not be the person who screws around with his inventions while he's sleeping often times causing them not to work and occasionally popping his vans tires.

Her experience with the kids:

She has always been a bit of an artist and has been attempting to make a life size resin doll version of Ashley that he can go inside of and possess while he waits for the potion that Stellaluna is working on. She is the one that will get the kiddos whatever they want (as long as its legal for her to buy at-least) and talk to them when they need her too and sass the hell out of the count if he does anything to make the kids upset (and if he makes them cry he wont be able to hear properly for an hour), but otherwise she is very friendly. She has a sneaking suspicion that Ashley has somehow been getting high/stoned without letting the others know but she has no proof yet. She knows everyones full names and will not hesitate to use them if she feels that she needs to, the kids of course have turned this into a weekly contest to see who gets called by their full name the least and the loser (it's usually Stoker, its never Klot thats for sure) is the one who has to distract bruno while the rest of them snag what they want from the gas station.

Her home and school life: She meets Stellaluna a few nights after she gets turned after escorting Buck home and they immediately hit it off and Stellaluna offers for her to come and live with them after she goes and raids her apartment for her furniture and things. Shes never gonna be the first to admit to having a crush on Stellaluna but she does and she doesn't know how to explain it because she is a socially awkward bean. Buck has pretty much accepted her as a secondary adopted mom. She has quite possibly read a few to many fanfics and has managed to convince Stellaluna to share her coffin until hers is built and her room afterwards. She is probably the reason why Buck has been steadily learning swear words. She has been planning on getting the school a few computers so that the kids can learn more about the mortal world but before that she has to figure out how to work up enough money to get the school repaired professionally or otherwise. She has a little sister who knows what has actually happened to her and has promised not to tell their parents or anyone else and she has a good relationship with her. She gets along with Ludwig pretty well, she likes hearing all the funny stories he and Stellaluna share from when they went to school together. She finds it hilarious that shes taller than Stellaluna. She is almost definitely the one introducing the kids to memes. She is very much uncertain about how much her and stellaluna's relationship is going to grow romance wise. Isabella is actually one of a small group of vampires that are to stubborn to be hypnotized, this is only known because the count tried to hypnotize her once to get her to let go of his ear and it did not work. When she finally hears the story about how her coworkers and students tricked polidori into thinking they were a normal school for a night she laughed her butt off when she heard about what the kids decided to wear.

Her personality and behaviors:

She is very much the type that is completely unafraid to be herself and if anyone has an issue with her thats their problem. She fits the "looks like they could kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll" so rough and tumble on the outside but shes a real sweetheart. It is very easy for her to make friends with others of the supernatural realm. She is like the rebel that you can't stay mad at. She is however very shy when it comes to romantic feelings. When it comes to blood she is more like Oskar in the sense that she is a bit squeamish about getting it from any other source than either the local hospital or the local blood donor station, but she has more of an excuse than he does; being recently turned. She has figured out why blood freaks Oskar out, She thinks that it's not so much the blood itself that freaks him out but more so the idea/fact that someone got hurt to get it.

" ... and sometimes you have a rich idiot flying first class who didn't think twice about bringing his questionable material in the carry on luggage. "Honey, I know how you don't like it if things don't work out as planned, you don't have to hide it." True, but usually Darleen wasn't as miffed about it as she sounded now. I just wanted to get back to my hotelroom and hear my wife and then drop dead.

Our representatives at the booth didn't mind me hanging around there while I called the rental service to ask if they could send someone to pick me up. My wife had paid the car in advance they told me, they didn't have any limo service available at such a short notice. She had made sure to instruct them that I was to be given this car and none else, and that i preferred to drive it myself. She was right. I usually did not enjoy being chauffeured around like a pompous billionaire. And I saw no sense in driving a sports car, since I wasn't a speed devil. Or a Maybach, since I didn't want the car for attention. Just driving from A to B. A comfy, save car was all I ever wanted. But I was exhausted from socialising and the climate was poison for my cold blooded British sensitivities. Not to mention that my jetlag still told me it was long past my bedtime. I'd be a hazard on the street like this. They refused to send a taxi because Darleen had been quite clear with her instructions and made it sound like she had threatened them with a non-fulfilment lawsuit if I were to be given any other car. Which, frankly I doubted, because I had never seen here in a state that was more than mildly annoyed. But they agreed to send one of their drivers to pick me up with my designated car. Which was all I asked for really. I was warned that I probably needed to wait a bit since he was new in town and didn't know the best routes yet. It gave me time to tie the gift bags together with lanyards and lug them to the parking lot. Where, surprisingly enough, the young man was waiting already.

He greeted me with a smile, when he saw that I was roughly his age. Even told me he had expected some old, wrinkly bald guy, not someone he'd have a beer and a game of Mario Kart with. I felt flattered and relaxed. If there was something that made me more uncomfortable than socialising with people, it was socialising with people who treated me like a raw, golden egg. Businesspeople were chummy sometimes which was okay, if it wasn't too unprofessional. But people whose services I paid for often ended up being weirdly respectful, almost terrified of me. I guess it made sense, there were some higher ups in my contact list with a rather short and moody temper, who had never delivered pizza or worked in customer service themselves. I would be rather save than sorry before escalation a customer as well... My driver was chill though, I gave him fifty bugs in advance to help me load my goodies into the trunk and not tell anyone about me curling up in the backseat in a fetal position to get some sleep on the way to the hotel. He laughed and slapped my shoulder, handed me the emergency blanket from the expired first aid kit (there was a second up to date one too, thankfully) and then turned to a radio station playing smooth tunes to lull me in. He promised to drive slow, so my pretty head wouldn't get bumped by the road too much. That made me feel flattered too, but in a weird way... He was really nice, I made a mental note to leave an awesome review on yelp for their company and maybe find a way to get him some extra credit or hook him up with someone from our resident office, if he wanted to change job. But my body sensed the chance to boot down and I slept like a baby the moment he switched the backseat light off.

I don't know what happened, it was probably a really weird and unconnected dream. Even though I thought I was awake for a moment at least. It was like several things happened at once, and my head just processed them too slow. I thought I was woken by one incredibly loud bang, like a blast - at the same time... pressure on my ears and intense silence but also a high frequency tone whistling unnervingly. My body was pressed deep into the seats, maybe we had bumped into something, but the force felt unreal... especially my upper body, my head, pushed back, I was being smacked right in the face, breaking my nose and jerking my head, like my brain being smashed against the back of my skull---

The dream stopped and I woke up, sorta, my legs were heavy and tired and I couldn't breeze, there was stuff all around me and it was hot everywhere, I choked on air and the smell off iron and burned rubber and then choked on liquid stuff in my throat and nose. I couldn't see, and I couldn't get up. I could move my arms but my legs didn't obey me. I think it was loud around me, but it sounded like someone was covering my ears with their hands. There was biting, cutting wind near my face sucking more heat in my direction from the other side and the urge to move away from there. My eyes were burning and watering too much too see, and I wasn't sure which way was up or down, it seemed to change all the time. I tried to crawl towards the cold. My legs barely helped propping me up, at least I wasn't hurt. The car door was open and I pulled myself closer to it, letting my weight drag me out, hands grasping for hold in the grass beneath, trying to pull my legs out. I felt a jostle and a sudden tug of gravity and then more blows to my side and front and back and my head spin and then the movement stopped but my head still spun and my face was in dusty muddy ground that tasted of iron and then I continued to sleep and the dream stopped...

Let Me Live - Chapter 3

Sorry for the delay in updating, uni work is so full on right now. I was so sick of doing it so I thought I'd slip another chapter in. The next one wont be for two weeks at least but I hope this tides you over until then!

This feels a bit of a rushed and fast paced chapter which I'm not happy about, but I wrote it in one sitting. This fic will also only be short anyway, but enjoy, and let me know what you think :)

In the week that followed your night with Hanzo, you had berated yourself endlessly.

It had been stupid to invite an unknown man back to your place. You may have spent a couple of hours together beforehand, but the man carried around a bow and arrow for crying out loud. If he wasn’t dangerous, he was living in some delusion he was some type of Robin Hood.

Yet, every time you got a text from him, all doubts were forgotten and that warm feeling would bloom in your chest, along with a grin on your face. The texts were far apart and you only received a couple of day, but it was enough to keep your interest in him. He usually asked how your day was and wanted to know what you did, while keeping the answers light about his own affairs. His texts were very formal – full sentences, full stops, no slang, the works. Although he had admitted he found your use of emoji’s ‘endearing’ and that he was ‘highly amused by them’. He spoke often about visiting again but couldn’t make a solid plan – but soon, he promised, soon. But the time alone with your own thoughts, when you weren’t at work or cleaning the house for the fifth time that week, put doubts into your mind like little needles. He’s making excuses because he just wants to seem polite, he’s building up to let you down gently, you were just a one-night stand, he probably has a wife and kids somewhere.

However, these thoughts couldn’t stop the warmth that came with a text from him, or the ache in your core that your hand just wasn’t enough to satisfy anymore when you thought of his body. You were in deep for no good reason at all. So you tried your best to distract yourself – you worked harder, cleaned the house for a sixth time, even started to go on runs. In the end, it was all for nothing. Your handsome archer was constantly in your thoughts, and any time idle was spent daydreaming about him.

A week or so after that night you were sat reading when you got a text.

Hanzo: I saw this and thought of you. Of us.

Attached was a picture and when you opened it, you couldn’t help but laugh. The angle was off and it was shaky, but he’d obviously seen it in some piercing shop window somewhere. It was a poster that read “Come on in, we don’t bite… and bring a friend if you don’t believe us!”. Hanzo kept surprising you, for such a solemn face there was a special brand of humour hidden in there. You went back to his text. Of us. You felt like a giddy teenager as you replied.

You: I love it! It made me laugh :D

The reply was almost instant.

Hanzo: I am glad. (:

The text seemed to repel the doubts that lingered at the back of your mind and you relaxed, really relaxed, as you settled in for a quiet evening.

It was quiet until you were woken from your sleep by a pounding at your door. Stirring instantly you jolted up, heart racing from a mixture of fear and tiredness. What was going on? You checked your phone and the time was 2:41am. You hesitated, thinking you might of imagined the noise. A few seconds trickled by before the noise started up again, making you jump.

You slipped out of bed and silently sauntered into the kitchen, the light from your phone the only thing stopped you from falling and stumbling. On your way through the kitchen, you picked up a knife, trembling slightly. You had never hurt anyone before – was someone here to hurt you? You put in 911 on your phone and hovered your thumb over the call button, as you stood by the door. When the pounding stopped, you spoke.

“Who is it?” You tried to make yourself sound firm and disapproving, but your voice was shaky and thick with sleep. Your eyes widened when you heard the voice at the other side call your name.

“I-It’s Hanzo, please… Open the door,” he groaned and you flung the door open. He was standing before you, head bowed and a hand wrapped around himself gripping his side. The other hand was supporting himself on the door frame and he was soaking from the rain.

“Hanzo, what… What are you doing here?” You had to calm yourself with a deep breath before your words came out at full volume. He raised his head and you let out a hiss through your teeth in shock. The skin around his left eye was darkening, and the slight swell made it apparent by morning he would have a full-on black eye. His lip was bust, and his left cheek was discoloured by the start of a nasty looking bruise. Your eyes darted down to where his hand held his side and he shifted his fingers, drawing your attention to the sticky red on them.

“Fuck,” was all you could think to say as you placed the knife down on a nearby table and held out your arm for him. He took it and leaned his weight onto you and you both groaned, him in pain and you with effort. You both managed to get to the couch where Hanzo practically fell down with a rough growl. You reached for your phone. “I’ll call on ambulance- “

“No!” Hanzo half-shouted and he winced as he sat upright. “Please, no. I’ll be fine I promise; I just need some bandages. Please, I can’t go to the hospital…” You looked at him while you considered his request. His eyes were almost pleading with you, and he looked desperate.

“Why?” His face dropped and you could almost see his mind turning trying to find an explanation – an explanation to cover up the real reason with how long he was talking, you guessed. He opened his mouth several times as if to speak, but words failed him. You sighed in defeat. “Okay. Let me see what I have lying around”.

His face lit up and he thanked you as you went to the bathroom and recovered as much as you had – some bandages, a few plasters, and some antibacterial wipes. It would have to do. When you returned to him he had already struggled out of his coat, breathing heavily. He wore an olive green t-shirt underneath, stained with a significant amount of blood on his lower left side. You grimaced. “You do know I’m not a doctor, right? I have no idea what I’m doing”. He managed a weak smile up at you and your irritation lessened.

“I am sure we will manage. I’ve dealt with similar before”. His eyes widened as you frowned, and you guessed he had just revealed more about himself than intended. You chose to ignore it, for now.

“Okay…” You murmured as you set yourself down on the sofa next to him, laying out your equipment in-between the two of you. “Shirt off”. He raised an eyebrow at your commanding tone and grinned, before wincing at his sore lip that stopped him from making any sort of remark. He slowly shifted himself to sit upright and slowly peeled the cloth from himself, a string of swears coming from his mouth as it stuck slightly to his wound. You swore yourself when you saw it in all its glory. It was a gash in his side, a long line that was an angry red with darkening red blood around it. Although you were no expert, it didn’t look too deep, and a good covering and some rest looked as if it might suffice for the time being. You considered the items splayed around you and picked up the antibacterial wipes, figuring it was a good start. Hanzo eyed you warily as you leaned in and as you started cleaning the wound he tensed, hissing out air through his teeth, his muscles clenching and unclenching, shifting the skin around the wound and increasing the pain. You were soon done however, and got to work covering the line with some bandages. You leaned back, admiring your handiwork.

“I thought you said you weren’t a doctor? That’s quite good handiwork for a novice,” the low voice brought you out of your daze and you glared at him, which seemingly only added to his amusement.

“I’m not, and I still think you would be better off in a hospital. With professionals,” you added, trying to sound as strict as possible. He let out a breathy chuckle.

“You’re right, but those professionals wouldn’t look as good as you if you wore a nurse’s outfit”.

You spluttered and felt heat rise to your cheeks at his sudden flirty outburst. It was a bold move, especially from Hanzo, and you tried to frown even more. “Save your flirting for when you’re not bleeding all over my couch at 3 in the morning, okay?” He had the good grace to return his usually somber state then, nodding. You got to your knees on the sofa and picked up another wipe, getting ready to tackle his face. Not a lot you could do here, apart from clean it up and let mother nature take its course to heal. You leaned in and gently wiped down his cheek and around his eyes, apologising quietly every time he winced. You then moved your attention to his lip, and to cleaning the blood on that. You put on hand under his chin, your thumb gripping it to keep him still. You worked slowly and with a lot of focus as you cleaned him up, and it was only after you finished you realised he was staring intently at you. You frowned slightly, a blush colouring your cheeks as you went to moved back. A hand around your middle quickly stopped that.

“What?” You asked out of embarrassment as he brought you back closer, his head just above your chest as he looked up at you. He reached up and brushed some of your hair out of your face.

“You look so beautiful when you are concentrating,” he murmured, and leaned in to press light kisses to the column of your throat, mumbling his thanks. A pleased sigh left your lips before something snapped in you and you gently pushed him back with a hand on his shoulder, shuffling backwards to look at him on his level.

“Hanzo, I can’t, you’re injured and I- God, I- “you don’t know what came over you at that point, whether it was tiredness or the shock of the situation or both, but before you knew what was going on hot tears were rolling down your face and you were choking on your words. “You’re injured! You just t-turned up here injured and you won’t even tell m-me how it happened! What if it had been worse, what i-if your injury had been worse and you just d- “. You had to stop yourself before you broke out into full on sobbing. You rose from the sofa and started pacing, a hand covering your mouth and an arm wrapped yourself as if you were trying to hold yourself together. You glanced over at him and your composure nearly slipped.

He looked shocked, mouth hanging open slightly and eyes trained on you in disbelief. His eyes were shining and a thought flashed across your mind – what did Hanzo look like when he cried? Before you could think anymore he had shakily gotten up and made his way to you, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into his good side. One of your hands went to his chest to stable yourself as fresh tears unleashed themselves unbidden and he rocked you slowly, head on top of yours.

“I’m sorry… I’m truly, truly sorry to have scared you like that. I-I will explain one day, I promise, but I can’t… Not right now…” His low words and his actions soothed you, the tears stopping only to be replaced by a sudden wave of tiredness and your eyes felt heavy. He kissed your head pulling back slightly to look you in the eyes, smiling weakly. “Why don’t you get in bed, and I will clean up. I will join you”. You agreed, too tired to argue at this point.

You reached your room and collapsed into in, trying to stay awake by listening to the sounds of Hanzo shuffling around. The light went off from the hall and you just about make out him coming into your room before you felt the bed dip with his weight. You turned into him, head near his chest as he wrapped his arms around you and proceeded to stroke your back. You yawned.

“’M glad you’re okay Hanzo. I’d make a good doctor. Was gonna stab you at first when I didn’t know it was you,” you heard him chuckle, and you liked the sound. It pulled you deeper into sleep. “Never stabbed anyone before”.

“I’m sure you haven’t. Now shh, and sleep.” He gently chided. You didn’t need to be told twice and quickly drifted off, Hanzo’s warmth a great comfort for you. Just as you were pulled under, you heard him speak.

“Oh rōzu, my sweet, sweet rōzu, I will protect you. Can’t you see I’m already changing the man I am for you?”

Otayuri week, Day 7.

~Fantasy~

Summary: Otabek’s a guard for his village and when Yuri the fairy goes missing he goes to find him.

Otabek lived in a small village with only about 100 residence living there, he was one of the villages guards but not much happened with only 100 people in one village, thieves didn’t bother robbing them as they didn’t have much besides crops and animals, but Otabek would wake up early every morning and stand at the gates of the village with his co-worker JJ they’d stand and wait for anything to happen, most of the time nothing did but they were always ready because no one but the people in their village knew that they held a magical creature living among them, they all kept it a secret due to them all knowing the magical creature’s family and liking the Plisetsky family very much so for them they kept their mouths shut

The magical creature that lived in their village was a fairy, they were very rare creatures and their wings sold for millions of gold coins at the black market, so due to that Otabek and JJ would guard the gates not allowing anyone they didn’t know through without asking questions

Yuri the fairy’s name was. He was beautiful in Otabek’s opinion, he’s seen Yuri planting and growing flowers by his house on Otabek’s way back to his own house at the end of his shift, Otabek could barely take his eyes off of Yuri who was usually bent over a brightly coloured flower with his blond hair shifting in the breeze and his shimmering wings fluttering behind him as he concentrated on keeping the delicate flower alive, Otabek had only ever said a hello or two to Yuri but that was normal for most of the villagers as Yuri only really spoke to his Grandpa who he lived with or the animals which he fed every morning, It was well known in the village that Yuri could speak to animals

“Stop daydreaming over there Otabek” he heard JJ say next to him

“I wasn’t daydreaming” Otabek said looking at him through the harsh summer sun “I’m just hot and tired and the morning isn’t even over”

JJ laughed beside him “This isn’t even the hottest day we’ve had to deal with”

“Yeah whatever” he grumbled out

JJ was about to start up another conversation when he heard “Guards! Guards!”

They both spun around and looked into the village gates to see Yuri’s grandfather run up to them

“Is everything ok Mr. Plisetsky?” JJ asked professionally

“No!” He replied puffed out from running over to them so quickly “Yuri’s missing!”

“How can he be missing its only just the morning time” JJ asked trying to calm the elderly man down

The man glared at him “No! He gets up before dawn and heads down to the river to collect fresh water for the animals on hot days like today and he’s always back before sunrise but he isn’t here!”

JJ frowned “Have you searched the village and asked around?”

“Of course I have you fool!”

“Ok calm down we aren’t supposed to go searching for the missing until they’re missing for over 24 hours” JJ explained

“He could be dead by then!” The older man was getting distraught

JJ looked at Otabek for help but Otabek wasn’t looking at the forest ahead of them “I’m sorry Mr. Plisetsky but we can’t leave the village unguarded for one person” JJ said sadly

“I’ll go”

Both men looked at Otabek

“What?” JJ asked confused

“I’ll go and look for him, you can handle watching over the village, no one ever comes around here anyway and if someone does you can always yell for Chris if you need back up”

JJ looked at Otabek’s determined face “Ok, if you’re sure”

Otabek nodded “I am”

“Thank you” Nikolai said to Otabek

“Don’t thank me until I bring back your grandson”

They nodded to each other curtly and Otabek went to grab his house and head out into the forest.

It wasn’t hard for Otabek to find the river Nikolai was talking about, it was large and filled with clear contaminated free water, lushes green grass covered the ground around it with wild flowers scattered around the large oak trees that were hiding the river from travellers

This river was exactly the kind of place he expected Yuri to hang around, walking around the grass barefoot enjoying the feeling of grass between his toes, he could picture himself watching Yuri walk through the river on a hot day like today and telling Otabek to join him, he didn’t get any further with his imagination because he spotted a large metal bucket floating in the river, he knew that was Yuri’s bucket he had seen the boy use it many times before

“He has to be close” Otabek says to himself as he ushers his horse to move forwards

He feels like he’s never going to find Yuri and its almost starting to get dark, he can hear the crickets starting to sing their nightly tunes when suddenly he hears a distant voice, not a voice he’s heard before but regardless he goes to investigate it

As soon as he gets closer to the voices he jumps off his horse and tells it to stay put, he sneaks slowly and quietly to the sound of what he can tell to be men, he crouches behind a bush and looks to see if he can spot anything suspicious

He’s stunned to see 2 large men with equally large horses, and then a burning rage overcomes him as he sees Yuri locked in a large golden cage, he’s hunched down and he can see his wrists are tightly tied with thick rope and he can see Yuri’s shoulders shaking clearly out of fear considering the weather still hadn’t cooled down

“You know how rich we are going to be after we sell this kids wings!” One of the large men exclaimed

“How do we get the wings off of him?” another asked

The first man hit the other over the head “We cut them off you idiot!”

“But wont that hurt him?” He asked rubbing the back of his head

“Who cares! We will have millions of gold coins!”

Otabek had to calm himself down before he did something stupid, he quietly walked back to his horse and grabbed his bow and arrows and crept back to where the men were huddled, he prepared his bow and arrow and waited

One of the men walked over to Yuri’s cage and bent down to Yuri’s level “We’re just going to borrow those pretty wings of yours ok?” and the man reached out for the lock on the cage but before he could unlock it an arrow sliced through his hand

“AH! What the fuck!” he yelled standing up quickly then another arrow whizzed through the air and hit him through his shoulder “AH!”

“What’s going on?” The other man asked before being hit with an arrow through his leg “FUCK!”

“Let’s go! Quick!”

“What about the wings?”

“Just fucking go!”

They hobbled over to their horses and fled the scene, leaving a quivering Yuri behind

Otabek put his bow and arrow over his shoulder and gently walked over to Yuri, he bent down in front of the golden cage “Hey are you alright?”

Yuri looked up at the sound of the voice “Otabek?”

“You know my name?” Otabek asked in shock

“Of course, you protect our village” Yuri replied with a shaky speech

Otabek blushed at what Yuri said, he grabbed a nearby rock and started banging on the lock until it broke open, he threw it off and opened the cage door, reaching in he untied the rope that was rubbing against Yuri’s pale wrists leaving red marks behind, he threw the rope towards the lock and he offered Yuri one of his hands, Yuri took it and Otabek helped him out of the cage

“Are you ok?” Otabek asked again

Yuri nodded his eyes cast down to the floor as he rubbed at his raw wrists

Otabek looked over Yuri so see if he could spot any visible injuries besides his wrist, he couldn’t spot anything wrong so he’d have to go by that until he could get Yuri to open up about what happened, his eyes drifted to Yuri’s wings, Otabek had never been this close to Yuri before, he’d always admired him from afar, he had to admit that close up Yuri was even more beautiful than he originally thought, close up he could see that Yuri had bright green eyes with flecks of aqua in them, he could also see that his wings had that same colour swirled into his delicate fluttering wings

“Are your wings ok?”

Yuri looked up from the ground he’d been staring at, he looked behind his shoulders and flickered his wings making them shimmer in the setting sun

“They’re fine” Yuri replied and his face flushed red

Otabek sighed in relief “Good I’m glad” He held out his hand to Yuri “Would you like me to take you home now?”

Yuri grabbed onto Otabek’s hand firmly “Yes please” but before they can head off to Otabek’s horse Yuri tugs on his hand “Wait, my bucket”

“There are plenty of buckets at the village” Otabek said and watched Yuri’s face sadden

“Yeah I guess” he says sadly

Otabek hates that look on Yuri’s face, he wants Yuri to be happy all the time “Ok let’s stop on the way back to get your bucket”

Yuri’s bright green eyes light up “Yeah?”

“Yeah”

They walk to Otabek’s horse hand in hand and Otabek gives Yuri’s hand a gentle squeeze every now and then just to reassure him that Otabek is there and that no one is going to hurt him

Once they reach the horse Otabek grabbed some ointment from the bag that was attached to the horse’s saddle, turning to face Yuri he took one of his hands carefully and spread some of the ointment on it “This’ll help with the redness and burning sensation” he rubbed the ointment into Yuri’s skin softly, the feeling of his hands touching Yuri’s soft silky skin was giving him major butterflies

After he applied the healing ointment Otabek climbs on his horse first and then helps Yuri onto the back, he feels Yuri’s arms wrap around him and grab onto Otabek’s stomach tightly which makes Otabek smile and rest one of his hands over the top of Yuri’s crutching fists as they set off toward the river

The journey to the river is long but comforting knowing that the arms he feels around his waist and the head he feels resting on his shoulders belongs to Yuri the little fairy he’s always observed and guarded from afar

They finally reach the river the breeze has finally cooled and the sun has set, the moon and stars being their only source of light, the river is even prettier at night with the moon reflecting off the water and the stars making the river glitter

“Yuri” Otabek says shaking the arms that were still around his waist

“Hmm?” He heard Yuri mumble tiredly

“Your bucket”

Yuri straightened up slowly as he slipped gracefully off the horse and Otabek followed a lot less gracefully than Yuri

“I see it” Yuri said as he hurryingly walked over to the river, he bent down and picked it up

“What happened Yuri? How did they catch you?” Otabek asked as he stood next to Yuri

“I was just getting water for the animals, they always get so dehydrated in the summer heat and I don’t like it” Yuri stated and he gripped the bucket handle tightly “I heard rustling but I thought it was a deer or some rabbits they always come and say hello when I’m here collecting water but then those men they grabbed my wings, pulling on them which hurts a lot, and the next thing I knew I was being shoved into a cage with my wrists tied up”

Otabek stood closer to Yuri to that their arms were touching “I’m sorry Yuri, those men are scum, I shouldn’t have let them get away”

Yuri leaned into Otabek’s arm and Otabek could feel the lightest touch of Yuri’s wing against the top of his shoulder blade “Don’t be, I’m just glad you were able to get them to leave”

Otabek felt the back of Yuri’s hand brush against his, he felt Yuri’s fingers push against his own and then tangle them together “I’ve seen you watching me”

This shocked Otabek “I…I…Umm”

Yuri giggled which was one of the most perfect sounds Otabek had ever heard “Don’t worry I’ve been watching you too, only more discreetly”

“What?” Otabek’s eyes widened at that, he never thought someone as beautiful as Yuri would even look at him

“I’ve watched you also, usually when you’re on guard or helping some of the villagers, but my favourite is watching you with the animals especially the stray cats, they always tell me how nice you are to them, never shooing them off your property and giving them milk and fish when you spot them wondering around”

Otabek was glad it was dark so Yuri couldn’t see that his cheeks had turned vibrant red

Otabek cleared his throat “We umm should get back, your grandpa he is very worried about you”

“Ok let’s go then”

They got back onto the horse and headed back home

“You know if you want to go to the river you can always ask me to come along to make sure nothing happens to you” Otabek told him as they arrived at the village gates where they could see JJ ending his shift and swapping over with Chris and Mila

Best Camera for Photography Beginners

Buying your first camera can be tough, expensive and time consuming. I can tell you I have personally wasted a lot of money on cameras early on that probably weren’t the best choice. I’ve also wasted a lot of money switching camera brands along the way. I started with Nikon, switched to Canon and now I am team Sony which has been a lot of buying and selling. I also had bad advice early on so hopefully this blog post will give you some good ideas to think about when looking at what camera you want to buy first.

Things to Consider When Buying Your First Camera

Price: This is probably your biggest driver when getting your first camera. Camera equipment is expensive and if you want to get into photography you will need something that’s a step up from a simple point and shoot. The biggest thing you will want/need is a camera that allows you to manipulate all of the settings such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO. So no matter what your budget is, at least get that function so you can start learning how to control the different parts of a photograph.

Quality: Quality and price do tend to go hand in hand, however, sometimes you will be paying for a band name rather than a good quality camera. A Leica camera is an awesome camera but will start at around $1000 and offer generally the same features that you could get for the Sony RX100 pictured above. You will want a camera that offers good quality but you won’t want something that is top of the line. I do recommend getting a camera that you could continue to grow with.

Brand: I’d strongly recommend figuring out what brand you want to go with now and doing your best to stick with it as you grow as a photographer. Typically what happens is you will buy a camera body which can vary greatly in price. Then you will purchase lenses to go on that camera body. Pretty soon you will have a camera body with a handful of lenses. The issue here is that camera lenses are not interchangeable with different camera brand bodies. Each company has their own proprietary lens mount which makes lenses only mountable to one camera brand body. So let’s say you buy a Canon 7D Mark II as your first body and get a whole bunch of Canon lenses and then decide you want to go to a Sony, you will have to sell all of your lenses and Canon body and then buy a new Sony and all new Sony mount lenses. This is obviously pricey.

One mistake I’ve made is I always bought the camera that my buddy recommended rather than what was the best item on the market. The bottom line…. Do your research. I personally recommend Sony. I think their mirrorless systems are the best on the market. I’ve had Canon, Nikon and now Sony and I believe they offer a product that is superior. But, that’s just me.

Ability to grow: Your last consideration should be… can you grow into your camera? If you buy a little point and shoot you will most likely grow out of in pretty quickly and then have to spend more money again in the near future. I recommend finding a camera that can accept interchangeable lenses rather than one with a built in lens. Also find a brand that has a various levels of cameras from entry to expert so you can grow with them.

So what Camera should you buy?

That’s a great question. I am sure I don’t hold the answer but here are some recommendations. I will go from cheap to expensive. Again, I am team Sony over here so that’s what I recommend. That doesn’t mean that the other brands don’t offer good options… I just like Sony, if I didn’t say that enough already.

Least Expensive Beginner Camera

Sony RX100

The Sony RX 100 is a great starter camera because you actually get a pretty decent quality camera for around $370. The camera comes in a manual mode so you can learn how to adjust the settings. In addition the camera weighs in at just half a pound and is around 4 x 2.5” so it’s really easy to throw in your pocket if you’re traveling around. The 20.2 mega pixel CMOS sensor will ensure that any photos you capture are high resolution and could be blown up and framed if desired.

In addition the camera has an ISO setting of 125-6400 which allows you to do some low light shots, although the camera isn’t going to perform to well at higher ISOs, that is typically reserved for the higher end cameras. One of the best features is the Zeiss 1.8, 28-100mm zoom lens. That gives you a pretty wide range aperture range so you could practice using your depth of field. Finally the 28-100mm zoom isn’t amazing but it does give you a fairly decent range to work with.

Some of the cons with this camera is that you will outgrow it quickly, the lenses are not interchangeable and you will have poor low light shots. This is very much a beginner camera and wont be something you’d stick with for very long. However, it’s a great one to try if you want look into becoming a photographer without breaking the bank.

Mid Range Beginner Camera

Sony a6500

The Sony a6500 is an APS-C camera meaning its sensor is slightly smaller than a full frame camera. The sensor is big enough to get some incredible shots and this is actually my go-to travel camera/back up camera. The photo quality is good enough that if you captured a great photo that you wanted to blow up as a print you could make it pretty much as large as you like.

I originally purchased the Sony a6500 after I was looking for a camera that offered great quality shots but was also light and portable. My goal was to use this as a travel camera. After using it for a month I was so impressed that I sold all of my Canon gear and made the switch to Sony. The crazy thing here is that I owned the Canon 5d MkIV, one of their flagship full-frame top of the line cameras. This means that Sony’s mid-line camera impressed me so much it convinced me to ditch my top of the line Canon…

I would suggest the a6500 one as a great option because you can swap out lenses as you start to build you lens collection and the lenses you buy for the a6500 could also be used on a full frame camera if you decided to go that route later on. In addition, the camera comes with a lot of the nice bells and whistles such as wi-fi, add-on apps and the ability to attach external batteries or a flash.

Finally, the a6500 performs much like a high end camera with a 24.2 mega pixel sensor, 425 auto focus points (meaning it auto focuses really well), 11 frames per second continuous shooting (meaning it can take a lot of photos really fast for sports or wildlife photography), and a 4k video (meaning it takes really nice video).

For a body you would pay around $1100 and a lens can run you anywhere from $300 on up. I currently run the camera with a Zeiss 16-70mm f/4 lens which is an excellent combination.

Sony A7III

With the Sony A7III I use the term “beginner” very loosely. In fact, this camera is absolutely incredible and is used by professional photographers around the world. The A7III is a full frame camera that came out after the A7RIII (the camera that I use as my go-to). In some arenas the A7III actually out performs some of the A7RIII’s capabilities and does it for around $800 less. If you want the bottom line on this camera I would say it’s an absolutely phenomenal camera for a somewhat affordable price. The A7III body will run you around $2,000 and lenses are around $300 on up. However, if you’re going to splurge for this one, I’d recommend getting a good lens to match so you don’t lose all the great quality that you get from the camera.

I’d recommend getting this camera if you’ve decided you’re ready to be a professional photographer. If you buy this camera you won’t need to upgrade for a long time and if you do upgrade this is a great camera to use as a backup/secondary camera.

What makes the A7III so great? Well for starters it features a full-frame 24.2 MP sensor that has some of the best low light capabilities on the market. The AF features a 623 point phase detection with 93% coverage. Now if you are just getting into photography I know that might not mean anything but to break it down nice and simple… it means it does a great job of focusing on the object you’re trying to capture.

One other thing I should point out is the A7III comes with 4k video capabilities… So if you’re looking to also get into videography this camera would again be an excellent choice.

So what makes this camera a beginner camera? Well again, it’s not really a beginner camera but it’s more of a beginner-ish price. Your only set back on this camera would be the 24.2 megapixel sensor. For reference, the A7RIII features a 42 megapixel sensor. However, this difference can also set you back. Fewer megapixels can lead to better low light qualities. In addition a 42MP sensor can drastically slow down your editing time if you don’t have a super fast computer. However, a larger sensor will capture more information which can be beneficial in post editing. There are plenty of times that I have imported a photo into LightRoom and thought it wasn’t going to edit. However, because the A7RIII has such an incredible sensor it captures a ton of information that can be edited.

In the end, the 24.2 megapixel sensor will still produce some amazing photos and you probably wouldn’t notice much of a difference until you started to blow the photos up for super large prints. To be honest, I wish the A7III was available when I purchased the A7RIII because I would have saved myself a lot of money and I’d have one amazing camera to work with.

The Take Away

Ok so I have been crapping on about all of these cameras for awhile now but here’s my abbreviated recommendation. The camera you purchase should be scaleable in the sense that you should be able to grow with it. Photography equipment is very much in the arena of “buy once, cry once”. Most often people purchase a budget camera, with budget lenses and then outgrow their camera quickly and then want to upgrade. If I could recommend one thing to a beginner it would be to buy the Sony a6500 and a 50mm lens and use that until you get the hang of photography. The reason is that we as humans tend to see the world at around 50mm so you will photograph what you see (ok so for anyone reading this who’s a photography nerd, yes I know the APS-C turns a 50mm into more of a 75mm focal length, but you get the idea). In addition a 50mm prime lens combined with the a6500 with produce some incredibly crisp shots. By shooting a 50mm fixed length you will be forced to capture the shots you want by getting creative, rather than just zooming and zooming out. I personally believe that a good photographer uses additional lenses to simply enhance their photography skills rather than act as a crutch. The bottom line, if you can capture great photos with that combination you will absolutely crush it when you start upgrading your lenses and camera body in the future.

I enjoy listening to the emotion that these talented people use in their voices when they are reciting their own written works of emotion. God that sounded gay. I guess im kind of emotional. When I feel emotion that is. A lot of the time I feel really numb, but then other days I feel a fleeting happiness. Mostly everytime I hang out with my friends CS, TF, and HK, I feel happiness but even then in the back of my mind Im still sinking. Also, way too early to tell, but I may be falling in love again for this girl named CH. Will update with more about that later. Anyway, back to the main course. Its not fair and fucking stupid.  Alright so I have decided to upload all of these entries onto a blog thing and that made me feel good so im adding it the the list of rules. We haven’t really discussed anything deeply personal yet. I doubt we will for a while. Part of me really wants to take it slow with her and do it right, but that isn’t what she wants to do.
